[humming]

There, Jasper, nice and cozy.

And safe from the sun too.

Aw, Petunia, dolls can't get sunburned.

Well, Granny says that too much sun
is bad for everybody, even Jasper.

-Hmm.
-Don't worry, Jasper.

The sun's not gonna get to you--

Yeow! Jasper!

Help! Help!

Jasper fell in the pool!

She can't swim!

Jasper!

[dramatic music playing]

Oh, Jasper, are you all right?

Melissa, you saved Jasper.

Ah, it was nothing.

Nothing but the bravest thing
I've ever seen in my whole life!

Melissa, I thought I told you
never to go into the kiddie pool

without me here to keep an eye on you.

But Jasper fell in the pool,
so I jumped in to...

Melissa saved Jasper, Granny.

She fell in the pool
and Melissa saved her!

Oh, my, Melissa.

Is that true?

You're a hero, Melissa.

A real hero.

You most certainly are, dear.

I am so proud of you.

What do you know, I'm a hero.

And then, silly me,

I accidentally dropped Jasper
in the water,

but thank goodness Melissa was there.

She just jumped in
and pulled her right out.

Aw, that's not so brave.

If I was there,
I would've done the same thing.

Well, what Petunia forgot to tell you

was that a giant bird came out of the sky
and snatched Jasper!

So I swam really fast
and shot out of the water

and grabbed Jasper
right out of the giant bird's mouth.

Huh?

Wow. Now that's brave.

[clearing throat]
Um, Melissa, there was no giant bird.

No giant bird?

Yeah, there was.

You didn't see it
because you had your eyes closed.

-I did?
-Yes, you did.

Kids.

Now where was I? Oh, yeah.

I grabbed Jasper from the giant bird

and said, "You mean giant bird!
I'm gonna tell your mommy on you."

Wow.

I don't remember closing my eyes.

So all that happened
right here in the pool?

Yep. The pink octopus was right there.

He reached up his gooey,

yucky arms and grabbed Jasper

and squeezed and squeezed
and squeezed her!

I sure wish I could've seen that.

Oh, brother.

Wait a minute!

I was there, Melissa.

There was no pink octopus in the pool.

Excuse me.

I am trying to tell my story.

Yeah, Petunia.

You already know what happened.

We wanna hear the story
straight from the hero's mouth.

But, but...

[clearing throat]

Being a hero has made me kind of thirsty.

Come on, Melissa. I'll get you some juice.

Can you tell us more
about the pink octopus?

Please?

Well, it was a big pink octopus,
with eight zillion arms.

Um, there was no pink octopus.

I wonder why
Melissa's making up all that stuff.

Let's go find Granny.

Maybe she can figure it out.

[humming]

Oh, Granny. I was wondering if...

Ooh!

That's one big sandwich!

It's called a hero sandwich, dear.

We're all going to share it tonight,
in honor of our own little hero, Melissa.

Oh, right.

Melissa the hero.

Well, it was brave of her to jump in
and save Jasper, now wasn't it?

Well, yeah.

She did save poor little Jasper.

She can't swim, you know.

I'm glad we're having
hero sandwiches for dinner.

Can I help, Granny?

Certainly. You can help me
by washing up before dinner.

And that's when Petunia
threw Jasper into the pool.

Just threw her right in.

Well, I knew Jasper couldn't swim

so I jumped in
and I started swimming over to save her.

Suddenly, some polka-dotted sharks
came out of nowhere,

-heading right for her too!
-Sharks! [shouting]

Their teeth started biting,
chomp, chomp, chomp!

And just as they were
about to bite Jasper,

I swam over and used karate on them!

And those sharks got so scared,
they swam home crying.

The end.

Yay! Melissa hero!

[Taz grumbles indistinctly]

Polka-dotted sharks?

I don't care if Melissa is a hero.

She's still making things up
about rescuing Jasper,

and I don't like it.

I've got to tell her to stop it.

Yeah, that's what I've gotta do.

So, what happened next, Melissa?

Well, there we were,
Petunia and I, just playing with our dolls

when a big sea monster
reached out of the pool

and pulled Petunia right off the ground!

Oh, no! Was she scared?

Of course.

She said "Please, Mr. Sea-Monster!

Don't eat me!

I'm a big baby.

And everybody knows sea monsters
don't like big babies."

-Hey!
-You know, Petunia,

you're sure lucky
Melissa's your best friend.

Yeah. That bad old sea monster
would have eaten you for sure.

Hey! Quit it, Petunia!

No! You quit making up stories
about how you rescued Jasper.

Hello? I did rescue Jasper.

Yeah, but none of that
other stuff happened.

There was no polka-dotted octopus
or giant pink, flying sharks,

and you don't know karate.

Look, Petunia,
you know that and I know that,

but those guys don't know that.

They think I'm a hero
and heroes always have great stories

about the hero stuff they do.

But saving Jasper
from the pool is a great story.

Oh.

I see what's going on here.

You just don't like everyone
paying so much attention to me.

That's not true.

Excuse me, I'm going to be late
for my special hero's dinner.

Yum! This is great, Granny.

Yeah. And don't forget,
it's all because of Melissa.

[all] Yay for Melissa!

Thank you, thank you.

Oh, it's not everybody
who gets to be a hero, you know.

[groaning]

Tell us how you rescued
Jasper again, Melissa.

Aw, you don't wanna hear that again.

Yes, we do.

And don't leave out anything.

Yeah, Melissa, tell the whole story.

[suspenseful music playing]

Well, Jasper fell in the pool,
and I jumped in to get her--

Hey, you forgot the part
about the giant bird

snatching Jasper out of the water.

Bird?

Wasn't it a pink octopus?

You guys are silly.

It was a sea monster!

Sharks! Sharks! Sharks!

[all chattering]

Stop!

There was no giant bird
or pink octopus or polka-dotted sharks.

You mean, you made it all up?

Why?

When I told the story, you all liked me.

The better I made it sound,
the more I felt like a hero.

But I told you, Melissa,

getting Jasper out of the water
was enough of a story for us,

all by itself.

That's right, dear.

I'm sorry I made up all that stuff,

especially the part
about Petunia being scared.

Are you still my best friend, Petunia?

How could I not be best friends
with the person who saved Jasper?

Phew. I'm glad that's over.

It was hard keeping
all those stories straight.

Well, if you wanna hear a story,
I've got one for you.

Did I ever tell you about the time

when I saved Mr. McStuffles
from flying robot mice?

There he was stuck in the drain,

and the mices' robot teeth
were just about to dig in,

when I, in my super Daffy armor...

[all] Daffy!

Oh, rats! Looks like I'm never gonna get
my own hero's dinner.
