Last we left off,
our heroes were getting
ready to construct a ritual
to speak to the devil Bakur
sealed in a gem in the chest
of one Lydia Barkrock,
as well as having disguised ourselves
as Wanda Childa to get some information
from Ruben Hopclap of the Rat Grinders
and forwarding some podcast information
to get him on this podcast stat.
Our friends Fig and Riz
made plans to head over
to Loam Farm at the edge
of town to investigate the-

As well as learning about Mazey,
Mazey Phaedra becoming
sort of acting principal
as student body president.
There's some tense interactions
with Fabian and Mazey in the last episode.

the history of the giants,
as Riz was able to map
the magical sequence
of sort of arcane DNA within
not only Bakur,
but the celestial or infernal

plenty of opportunities
and he'd be happy to come

- Okay, great. Let's let him
sweat for a little bit then.
And let's go to the farm.
- Let him sweat.
- So Sklonda comes to
pick you up from school
and looks in and says,
"Oh, hi Fig, are you coming with?"
- I am.
Is that a problem?
- Fig, what the f*ck?
- I actually was trying to ask sincerely.
Like, I didn't wanna infringe upon.
- [Murph] She just wants
to make sure she's not-
- Mommy/baby time.
- Mommy/baby time?
- Mommy/baby time?
- You are my little baby.
- Okay.
- [Ally] Is that a problem?
- You actually have a lot in common.
- We do. We do.
He's my little guy. My sweet little baby.
You know he asked me to prom, right?

- Sklonda takes off with you guys.
She is no longer a police officer,
but you can tell that
the glove compartment
of the car is locked.
It's in the locked position.
So she's like rolling out
to the farm, not unprepared.
- Mom, real quick. As
we're on the way there.
Maybe you, as a fellow rogue might know,
we heard something about something called
the spy's tongue curse.
Does that ring a bell at all for you?
I'm wondering when I hear spy's tongue,
I think like thieves cant or something.
- Roll in front of the board
and see if she's heard of it before.
Seven. You see she goes,
"Spy's tongue curse?
I can't say I've heard
of it before, kiddo,
but I would say that-"
- Have you ever heard
of thieves cant called
spy's tongue or anything like that?
- Did you see it written out
or did someone say it to you?
- Somebody said it.

It's interesting whether it's
spy's possessive or spies plural.
- Interesting.
- You know, it could be a
curse on a spy's tongue.

- I'd probably talk to Adaine
or someone who might know a little-
it sounds like some sort of- probably
it'd be somewhere in
the Aguefort libraries
under Arcana or something like that.
- Okay.
I pop off a text to Adaine saying,
we forgot to look into spy's tongue curse,
or spies tongue curse.
- I get it, 'cause it's in text
and so I see where the apostrophe is.
- So you guys head out to Loam Farm.
It sort of moves into the cover of night
as you guys get closer there.
It's almost two hours outside of Elmville,
way off in a more sort of rural area.
[mysterious music]
As you hear the cu-clunk
of the car doors close
and the lights go out,
you see that Sklonda looks
over at you and says,
"I think a little bit of
discretion wouldn't hurt,
so I'd say no flashlights.
Try to find what we can just in the dark."
- Do we need a distraction?
- Should we go and visit-
I think we don't wanna distract anybody.
Should we go invisible?
- Can we?
- Well I'm really good at sneaking around
so I'll cast Invisibility on my mom.
- [Emily] Does anyone live here?
- Not anymore.
- Who would be someone being here
that wouldn't be suspicious?
'Cause I can just disguise myself as them.
- At the moment here at night.
I can't think of anyone
that wouldn't be suspicious,
unless you could disguise yourself
as something that was an animal.
- Mom, what are you doing?
- [Brennan] I'm saying any
person would be suspicious.
- I'm gonna disguise myself as an animal.
I'll use Disguise Person- Disguise Self.
- So Disguise Self, you're
limited to very humanoid animals.
- Yeah, I know.
- Just a monkey on the farm.
- [Brennan] So you're, like, an orangutan.
[all laughing]

- I think it is conspicuous,
but ultimately no one is
gonna ask the orangutan
how it got here.
[all laughing]
- Well mom, I think we don't
have to do invisibility
because that will raise
questions, if anything.
So why don't we just sneak in?
- All right, let's just sneak in.
You cast Invisibility on your mom.

You guys begin to move through the farm.
You can see why this place
was selected for Frosty Fair.
There's like a big, huge backyard that's-
beautiful tree-lined place.
There's a number of large, older trees
that are singled out in the field
that provide a lot of shade.
Even as you're looking at like how nice
the old, vintage barn is, you wonder like,
"Oh they must like have
weddings and things here."
There's a big barn that doesn't look like
it's being used for
anything, particularly.
On the far side of the property
there's a fence with a little lake
and you start to see that there
are some animals out there,
but it looks like not as many
as would fill up the pasture.
Your mom says, "They started to get rid
of some of the animals in the estate sale.
'cause the Loams died a couple weeks ago."
- Who's been buying them?
- Just farmers.
I mean, the animals are worth something
and the kids aren't farmers.
- So it seems like
whatever f*cked up ritual
they were doing involves trees?
- They're gonna have to sell this farm.
Is it possible that all this fraud
is so that someone can
buy this on the cheap?
- So the Frosty... oh my god.
- Literally.
- Maybe.
Can we check and see- first things first.
Let's see if there's a
reason the Thistlespring tree
was better than this place.
Maybe, can we look into these trees
and see if there's any kinda
magical protection against them?
- Sure thing.

So they're like really tiny oval glasses.
And he puts them on,
and just looks really serious.

go to the eye doctor?
- No, mom, they're cool.

Powerful
infernal

emanating from behind the main farmhouse.
Old wooden beams, white plaster,
like stucco-ish walls.
- Let's go look at that.
- [Murph] Yeah, let's check it out.
- Sklonda, you feeling brave?
There's powerful infernal magic energy
coming from behind that farmhouse.
[weapon c*ck]
- Okay, great.
- [Murph] All right, let's do it.
- You go around the back
of the house to find
the entire back porch demolished.
Caution tape around it.
- Oh.
Is this how they passed?
- You look and see that
the wood of the porch
is just crushed inward
and there is huge sort
of cratering indentations
in the soil underneath the porch.
- Giants.
Does this remind us of the crime scenes
that we've seen already?
- In the woods by Lake Shimmerstone?
Yeah, absolutely.
- Does it remind because
the soil is poisoned,
or does it remind us 'cause we see...?
- Your Detect Magic
and your fiendish sense
are both emanating from the
ground more than the wreckage.
- [Murph] So is it...?
- Digging.
- Okay, yeah.
- [Brennan] Give me an
Investigation check.
- [Emily] With advantage

- Woo, doctor!
On a nat 20, you scoop up
a big sample of the soil.
You can immediately see there is a-
just with your naked eye here in the dark,
a glitter or sparkle as
though of glass or crystal
crushed into the soil.
- Glass or crystal crushed into the soil.
- Oh, the shards of rage.
- [Brennan] Red, a red glass or crystal
crushed into the soil.
You definitely think this
is the source of what it is.
You're looking at it.
On that nat 20, give me any skill check,
either Intelligence or
Wisdom with advantage
as Riz nails this Investigation.
- Perception is my best.
- Cool.
[dice rolling]
- Two eighteens becomes a 23.
- Riz, as you are holding this,
you have your Divine Sense up.
As it happens, totally dark
here in the ruined porch.
Some cloud cover blocks
the moon and stars.
So as a few scintillating specks
of that broken
sand of crystal, almost,
illuminate very dimly.
Here in the darkness,
they glow seemingly bright
as they emerge
and your Divine Sense
carries out in like 60 feet,
almost like a cone in front of you.
As you look, wherever your vision goes,
those little red motes begin to
float up into the air
ever so softly.
This is like a beyond
Sherlock Holmes level.
You're making a connection
that is so impossible to make,
that you can't even gather
what the evidence is you're
seeing in front of you.
You're just like something,
something from an earlier case,
and you just remember, you're like,
there's a photo in my office,
there's something in my office about this.
You see some of where like
the bodies were taken out.
You see that there's some
blood spatter around.
On a nat 20, you feel like
if you could find material
on the actual bodies that were recovered,
there's something there.
You also see very clearly in the wreckage,
evidence from just like
the ballistics of it,
of force damage,
but are not able to pin
a spell source to it.
- Can I just try-
can I pick up any of these little shards?
- [Brennan] Yeah, absolutely.
- Can I just Prestidigitation the 24-sided
star onto it?
- Yes.
[wind blowing]
As you put the 24-sided star onto it,
[eerie music]
a little thing glows in your hand.
How would you describe Fig's
emotional state right now?
- I think that her
conversation with her teachers
left her feeling really confused.
So I think her emotional state is
avoidant of her own emotions
and looking for external
problems to throw herself into.
- You see a teeny tiny little rage star
form outta the glass as
you put the symbol on it.
And you see, for lack of a
better word, it looks confused.
It darts right and darts left.
[discordant pinging sounds]
And then you see it stabs Fig's hand.
- Ow.
We gotta go! I run.
[all laughing]
- Orangutan just taking off.
- Swinging through the trees.
- Literally never seen an orangutan run.
- So does that mean that these,
whatever this magic is,
maybe it isn't necessarily.
- Maybe it isn't...
- Anger.
- ...necessarily rage.
- Maybe they are making it rage.
Maybe this is something
that could be manipulated, essentially.
- [Emily] Yeah.
- So there's kind of
two forces at work here.
Where this thing, this is
just being used as a tool.
I think there's definitely something to
what you were talking about before,
about something maybe
blooming in the spring.
- [Emily] Yeah.
- Considering that they're
taking this farm.
- Considering it's
all in the soil
- And they're getting rid of,
they're getting rid of all
the animals and everything.
It seems like they're just making room.
- Not to mention real
estate and government
for Copperkell and if they're trying to-
f*ck up the soil.
- Copperlilly. Yeah.
- Sklonda, what happens
when you look at this?
- You see she gazes at
it. Doesn't seem to-
doesn't seem to move it
at all under her command,
but she looks at it and shrugs,
and says, "I mean, I
don't have any ability
to like prestidigitate anything onto it.
It seems like it's some
kind of magical reaction."
- I'm wearing these cool glasses
that give me Detect Magic.
That's why I see it.
I think otherwise maybe I wouldn't.
Mom, any way we can
get a look at these bodies?
I just feel like there's
something on 'em, maybe.
- Let me go make a call real quick, okay?
She walks off, goes to make a call.
- There's also, I'm
thinking there's a photo.
I have a photo of
the only photo I can think
of is my dad and Kalina.
- Well, Kalina is an advisor.
She can kinda make her-
is there any way that Kalina...
- Would I have that available,
on my phone or something like that?
- Yeah, do you wanna look
through it like a drive?
- I'll look through and see if there's-
that's the only photo that
really sticks out to me as something that-
- I'm gonna say you also at this point
get a text from Molman.
- [Emily] Okay.
- Saying, "Hey there chief. We got a-
sorry about the outburst by the way,
the other week."
- [whispering] What happened?
- He freaked out and, yeah,
everybody's been freaking out, right?
Like, people have been getting really mad.
- Yeah, you're right.
- The mole dude freaked out at me.
- And then Fabian talked about-
- sh1tting himself.
- And somebody quitting.
- I didn't tell you I sh*t myself.
- Nevermind I didn't.
I heard from somebody in-
- Fabian took me aside,
and he confessed to me.
- Yeah, for some strange reason somebody,
for reasons not in
Fabian's control at all,
somebody quit school in Fabian's class
while he did a cool dance
where "nothing weird happened,"
is how he put it.
- Everyone is kinda on edge.
- Anyway,
what was the full message?
- So Molman texts you, says,
"Incredibly interesting soil profile."
Okay, blocks, paragraphs and paragraphs
of all the sort of botanical
and da da da da da.
And then he says,
"Interesting anomaly.
There's
an extraplanar,
mineral sediment in the sample you took,
had a magical residue to it.
I went through all of our
samples from soil club
from years and years
and years of field trips
and expeditions around Elmville.
There were trace elements of this found
only at one other address in town."
You also know that Molman has probably
not been out to this crime scene.
The time period is not long enough.
So he hasn't been here.
So it's like Lucy's grave.
He says, "1223 Ash Grove Boulevard."
- Do we recognize that?
- That, on your nat 20 Investigation,
you fly through to your phone.
Ragh Barkrock's old house.
- Old house?
- That was the house.
- That blew up.
- It was the house where
Lydia Barkrock was attacked
and her body, the clone body
that Arthur Aguefort had created
in sophomore year, was k*lled.
There was a moment when
you were all in Leviathan
where Ragh basically believed
that his mom had died.
- So this has been going on.
- Wasn't that Kalina who did that attack?
Did we ever find out who did that attack?
- Well, I told Kalina
that Ragh had seen her,
which then led her to
telling other people,
I think, to do the attack.
So, yeah. Maybe let's bring all this info
to the others and get to that house.
But there's like- so, yeah.
I think it seems like
they're getting ready
to get the land ready to essentially...
Everything we know is that it's easier
for gods to get to other places
that aren't like the material realm.
If they can essentially change-
- The nature.
- ...the world,
the nature of the world
so it's extraplanar soil-
- Yeah, exactly.
- maybe they can bring a dead god back.
- Yeah. Okay, I text everyone
and I say, "Emergency
meeting. Even you, Fabian."
- Even you, Fabian.
- Guys, I am busy.
- You're on 'do not disturb.'
- Is there an exclamation point on that?
- Can I text,
"Guys I'm at work, but can you come here?
Even you, Fabian."
[all laughing]
- Fabian, still not responding.
- You guys all had to Basrar's.
Your mom finishes the phone
call, comes over and says,
"I got the download on the bodies."
You see that she says like,
"I can try to go get deeper schematics,
but just over the phone, incidentally,
what they were able to confirm was
force damage.
There were capillaries and veins
so crushed that- in their body there were
carbonized, basically red diamonds."
- Yeah, which is this, right?
- Yeah. You're wondering if what these are
is like carbonized, diamondized blood.
- So they maybe didn't get k*lled.
They went into a rage themselves.
- And then the rage k*lled them.
- And then the rage k*lled them.
It kills you.
- [Emily] Does it...
Okay, we saw firsthand,
we saw those like rage mages in the mall.
Did that look like a
state that could have?
- Over time?
- [Emily] Over time.
- Give me a Medicine check.
- Just wait till I crit!
I gotta seven.
- Wait til I crit!
Without having the bodies in front of you,
it remains a plausible theory.
- I think that there's- looking at
when those mages went berserk,
it did not look like they
were gonna be hanging around
for like a long life.
- And it seemed like Cassandra was-
- Force, yeah it's just force damage.
It looks like they were
essentially taken over.
- Sklonda says, "Other
thing I'll point out,
and I'm not sure if this maps to...
I'm not sure if this maps
to the experience you had
with either of the bodies you discovered.
No defense wounds on either of
the Loams, Alonso or Hespia."
- Yeah, that would be in line.
- So they just went berserk and then died
and probably destroyed this house, yeah.
- [Brennan] You guys all head to Basrar's.
- [Zac] Where was the house
that they were at, the farm?
- Way outside of Elmville.
- So it's not on the map?
- Not on the map, no.
- Hey, sorry I'm late guys.
- Fabian, we've all been
here for 45 minutes.
- Sorry, I just checked my texts.
- Cool. So download
these guys on everything.
- Yeah, we tell everyone everything.

You know what I was thinking
and maybe I'm Night Yorb-ing
this a little bit, but what-
I was thinking, spy's tongue.

- I pull out the shards from Cassandra
and I'm like, could this
be Cassandra's blood?

- I did bring a shard.
Can we compare our shards?

- You cast Identify.
This is a funny thing
'cause Adaine's hand goes up
as Fig and Kristen's hand go up.
This is a funny question.
What is everyone's emotional
state as this happens?
- I'm sort of post-emotion
tired.
Of just, like I been in that service job,
like, just gotta be nice all the time.
- I think that this has
been a big enough mystery
that my personal life is
completely fully in the background
and I'm naked curiosity.
- [Brennan] Naked curiosity, awesome.
- A concern that this is
like Cassandra's blood
or just like extremely precious...
- As you hold them up,
all of the red- the shards, right?
This sort of like- and this
is like way more pulverized.
Yours are a little fuller I think
and a little bit more intact.
Yours rips out of your hand,
and encircles all around the shards
and begins to circle around it
and your shards spin up in a moment
and create like this very concerned ball,
almost like try to conceal
and go into a ball.
And you see that the red begins to glow
brighter and brighter as it looks
to get into or inside
of these other shards.
- f*ck.
- They're spinning around,
but there's clearly a
immediate magical reaction.
The Identify spell goes,
"Ah, this is another use of
the- oh, wow! Oh, ah, hah!"
- And wait, weird annoying guy
who does the Identify
spell, what's going on?
[Brennan babbling]
- ...a lot of power, a
tremendous amount of power.
- Is it two different
types of power or one?
- Two in one. One in two. [babbling]
- Maybe they were split apart
and they're supposed to be together?
[Brennan babbling]
- [Brennan] Anyone who wants
to make an Insight check.
This'll be a very high
DC on this Insight check.
- Hell, yeah. 28.
- Holy sh*t.
- [Siobhan] Thank god.
- Okay, 28.

Plus nine.

You notice something.
Your emotional state going into this
was one of concern over,
is this Cassandra's blood?
Your worry as these things
came out of your hand,
the shards enclosed themselves.
There was fear, right?
Which is something that Cassandra,
who in some other version of herself
was the Nightmare King,
is very familiar with.
What you notice is that the red,
even though it was moving those-
the red swirling, glittering
crystal sand wind,
even though it was incredibly aggressive
and moved in a very like
assertive kind of way,
did not attack
the purple shards at any point.
What it was looking for was an opening
that was not presenting itself.
However, what happens
immediately after that,
as the Identify spell
seeks to learn about them,
is the sand glows bright
red and attacks Adaine.
I'm gonna make an attack roll.
- Can I cast Banishment on the shards?
- [Brennan] On the red sand?
- Yeah.
- Yes you can.
And no roll necessary.
Whoosh!
You open something up.
As you open it up, you-
give me a Perception check.
[die rolling]
- Nat 20.
- Holy sh*t.
- You sent it back to
its like plane I think,
to where it's from.
- And where's that, and what's its name?
[all laughing]
- Kristen Applebees.
You stand up from the
table, the shards whoosh,
rush towards your chest
as you hit the sand.
You send it from this
place, and as you do,
you see endless red, thrumming blood,
fire pouring like water,
not even flickering, liquid fire.
You see screams and a sense of horror.
You smell for a moment, rot,
the rot of dead gods.
You are smelling something far
beyond in the astral plane,
and you sense that you are
in the interior of a body,
vaster than worlds,
that rots in death but cannot die.
And that the heat and pressure
of its own massive corpus
is creating this burning stomach.
You see this cavern you're
in is almost more like
some kind of massive world,
planet-sized rib cage.
Smelling it as almost like smelling salts,
like a boxer would get
that makes you pop up
and start fighting again,
this incredibly invigorating
yet noxious smell.
And sending those crystals
back to that place,
you see that any solid surfaces
that are not covered in this liquid fire,
this ethereal lava,
any solid surface is manifesting
jagged spikes of crystal that glow red.
- I yell, Cassandra.
- As you yell Cassandra
a bolt of purple light, cool and misty,
races through this
place extinguishing fire
all the way up to where
the cavern narrows,
and you see up there a movement,
almost like an undulation of muscle.
You say, Cassandra, and you hear [gasping]
and the vision fades
as the Banishment ends.

world every eight months.
And there's not a mourning process
for who you were in middle school,
and maybe not time for you to- you know,
if you love your friends
and that's where you feel
the most comfortable,
and introspection makes you feel nauseous,
would you ever think about talking openly
and honestly to your friends
about how they see you?
Because community can be a tool
for seeing ourselves, for sure.
Like, I don't see myself well,
I think, most of the time.
Who I am in Jawbone's eyes,
who I am in your eyes,
that's an aspirational person
for me to be, a lot of the time.

and again, it doesn't work

You have to take a pretty
significant amount,
a small amount will allow
you to lie to creatures
that can discern lies.
But if you use it too
regularly or too often,
what happens is you convince
yourself of your own lies.
They become convincing.
So you wouldn't be able
to use it surgically
to change your own memories.
- You'll only use it
on someone else.
- Or rather the way the
honey modifies a memory
is actually sort of a
negative side effect.
So if you think about it this way.
You use it to make
yourself better at lying.
You can trick normally untrickable beings,
but if you abuse it yourself,
you start to believe your own lies.
So in other words, if you
were going to modify a memory,
you would have to know in advance
that you were going to use the honey,
and start lying and believing in the lie.

they could all just go
to town on devil's honey
and pretend to lie.

and a face and a story.
And the relationship between the domain
and the sort of story they are given,
honestly provides all of
the strength and power
of various clerics
throughout time and space,
but also provides many
opportunities for devilry
and strange changings of domains,
and gods changing over time
and the history of gods in Spyre
and all the various competing pantheons
and deities, et cetera, et cetera, is
truly catastrophic.
It's a violent story over time,
of many different gods rising and falling.
- Or it's almost like
a merger or something.
Like, you might be an
employee of a company
and then they get taken over
by a completely different ethos
and you're still working there
and you may not even know.
- It seems that the connection
here across all of this
is that names have tremendous power.
Conspirators will enter
into a curse willingly
to see a name protected.
Names of gods who have died,
competing faiths, rival nations,
different factions will do
everything in their power
to erase the name of a god from the world.
You see, Aelwyn kind
of thinks for a second,
and goes, "You know, if
you're looking around
for names particularly,
Fallinel is not a bad place to do it.
The elves are,
sort of high elves that have
lived at the Court of Stars
for a long time tend to be insufferable.

I think Galicaea's worship
became kind of reflective
of that national value to
the degree that makes sense."

week vacation with my family
to the White Shores.
And I got back and some of
the steam had died down.
And I like- Tracker talked
to me about follow through,
which I struggle with
I think a little bit.

it takes some time.
Someone comes along and says,
the way you are all
doing something is wrong.
And then you're left saying,
no, I'm a good person.
And then the first person's
like, that's not what I said.
I didn't say you were a bad person.
I said, you are doing something wrong.
This church isn't serving anybody.
The Church of Galicaea
has become an institution
dedicated to preserving Fallinel's
unchanging bureaucratic state.
And instead, Tracker's
come and reminded us all
that the moon changes as we do.
Life changes.
So I think that there's-
speaking as a high elf,
we are very nervous and
hesitant around change.
And I think that someone coming
and saying that our goddess
is a goddess of change
was always going to be
met with some resistance.
But you know, they're coming around.
Obviously there's a lot
of- they've been helpful.

should see the standing stones.
They're quite beautiful.

A very proficient cleric

wasn't devoted to Galicaea

- On these very high rolls,
you see Nara leave the
area of her expertise.
She has attributed this as
only a place to Galicaea,
which you know is not true.
It's like someone saying-
it's you're in some place in like
modern-day Turkey.
And it's like, "This has only ever been
this kind of religious building."
And you're like, no,
you can look underneath
and there's a different building.
You can dig archeologically
down and see a different-

- Tracker's like, "In the

- Yeah, we're getting a tour,
but I'm curious about your thoughts.
We're down by the runes.
- She's like, "I'll come by and say hi."
As you're investigating,
you see this place is very protected.
And on that nat 20 Investigation,
you gotta honor a nat 20.
And a 28 Arcana.
You begin to go down.
Riz, you see runes at
the base of one of these.
You dig through the snow a little bit.
There is a several thousand
year old scorch mark
at the base of one of these stones.
Tracker comes up in the snow saying,
"Hey Kristen, what's up?
Hi sweetie," and gives
Nara a hug and a kiss.
- I turn into Kristen and
do a back flip. [laughing]
- Riz, you are looking at the stones here.
And on a nat 20 Investigation,
you see that there are a
list of names under the snow.
This menhir, this massive
stone in the stone circle
has sunk over time.
And there's a list of names.
There is a list of names of one family.
And you see that it says Galicaea,
Cassandra,
in the middle you see Sol.
You are looking, again on
a nat 20 Investigation,
at a wedding contract.
You are looking at a divine and
ancient wedding certificate.
You see that there is Sol in a position
that almost makes it
look like an officiant,
makes it look like the
person who did the marrying.
You then see that there
is the name Galicaea.
And the Galicaea is in a
matron of honor position.
It's like a older sister,
like a maid of honor.
And then beneath that, you
get down to the ground level,
where the frozen grass is under the snow.
Across from Galicaea, you see
in Sylvan, but translated,
Ruvina, the giantess goddess.
And you see underneath Galicaea's name,
you see the beginnings of
Cassandra as the bride.
Across is underneath the earth.
The grass comes up and covers
the other part of this stone.
- Dig, b*tch.
- Tracker starts talking and says like,
"Yeah, so this is where
we come and commune
with Galicaea all the time.
Riz, what's up man? Can I help you?"
- Have you gotten a close look at this?
Obviously you have.
Have you ever seen the names down here?

- All right, so Tracker's
like, "Are the rats,
what are the rats doing?"
- The rats are doing their natural thing.

- Gather around a standing stone
and dig into the...?
- They're charmed, kind of.

- It's cold, the rats aren't used to this.
But look, they're not
harming the statue at all.
They're digging in the snow.

you translate
and you see a name.
And I have to ask what you are going to do
when you see the name, Adaine.
You are the only one that knows
enough about ancient runes
to know how to pronounce
something in ancient Sylvan
that you're reading off this glyph.
'Cause you're translating it into giant,
like what it would be in giant.
- I am not really thinking
about the repercussions of it.
I'm just in sort of,
studious discovery mode,
and I'm reading as we go down.
And so as I see the
name, I say it out loud.
- Go ahead and read that out loud for me

- [Brennan] It does feel
safe inside the circle.

Your phones begin to blow up.

- I turn off airplane mode.
- Ragh runs outta the thing
on the phone going, yeah.

- Ragh and Aelwyn and Zayn
all jump into the circle.
As Zayn jumps into the circle,
you see the circle repels Zayn.
He goes boom, as a ghost.
As Zayn is repelled,
you guys see that all
the phones go berserk.
Ragh is like, "Yeah?"
He looks up and he's like,
"Something happened to the
gem in my mom's chest."
- [Siobhan] Oh, f*ck!
I'm so sorry.
- Again, a name that was
erased from the world.
But as you were told before, some shred-
only gods can't say the name, right?
Like only gods are
forbidden from saying it.
You found one of the things
that they had tried so thoroughly
in the past to destroy,
which was a carven memory
of a dead god's name.
And of course they missed it
on the island of Fallinel,
buried underneath the earth
from a marriage 3000 years ago,
- Oh my god.
They were going word by word
trying to erase this person's name.
This was a manual erasing?
They didn't CTRL-F the name?
- Adaine, your books on
curses begin to go nuts.
As the fiendish energy encircles,

In the fiery light it looks kind of scary.

You see that the stone
circle begins to move.
The moon glows incredibly bright.
Tracker grabs Nara and
goes, "What were you doing?
I didn't-" Bam!
Tracker's face like cracks open.
She is flung out of the circle
and Nara goes spinning,
smashes into a tree.
You each see blood
pouring down their face.
Tracker begins to shift.
You see that the moon begins to grow
visibly in the sky from
like waning to full.
Again, as Tracker goes,
[growling and howling]
I'm gonna need a Constitution
and a Wisdom saving throw
from Fig specifically.
- But I only have plus one.
That's a nine.
- [Brennan] That's Constitution?
- Oh, Constitution, that's a 10.
- Okay, and then let's do Wisdom.
[die rolling]
- That's a 15.
- Okay, Constitution, you're
able to hold onto your mind.
But all of you watch
as this Hallow spell kicks into gear
protecting the stone circle.
You were able to enter,
but you suddenly see this aura
of gleaming f*cking yellow armor appears
around Fig, like
ethereal, partially there.
You recognize the suit of armor,
and you see that the moon glows bright
and a ray of moonlight comes
down, grasps the armor,
and tries to pull it off you,
and it begins to rend your skin and flesh
as the armor is being pulled off.
- What's happening?
- You are going to take some damage.
You take 19 points of damage.
As this ethereal armor is being
wrenched off by this thing.
- What if the pride
armor was bridal armor?
- Bride armor.
- Bride armor.
- They just took off
the bottom bit of the B
and made it into a P.
- A couple things happening at once.
You perceive, Riz, on your turn.
Fig's not being targeted,
the curse on her is being targeted,
but it's being targeted in a way of like,
I'm gonna take this house
and f*cking just fill it with poison.
I'm gonna just get rid of this curse
and whoever's attached to the curse,
tough luck for them, right?
That moon power is coming down.
You also see, Kristen,
the shards in your pocket
are glowing so bright
that you're like a hair
away from being blinded.
Powerful energy,
as you can feel cold wind
whipping up in this space.
Adaine, your eyes fill
with oracular vision
and you begin to just see mirrors.
All you see is mirrors everywhere.
And you see them all emerging
from the lights of Cassandra.
You see that Cassandra's
lights are like throwing
reflections all up over the stone circle,
and some of them go to protect Fig
and glance moonlight off
of the curse going on.
Riz, the chaos and danger of this moment
is effectively multiple
Divine Interventions
happening in conflict with
each other simultaneously.
You are first act.
- [Murph] Okay.
Riz is going to crack open
an old gift, The Ball's briefcase,
which is basically like a Bag of Holding,
so there's like a dimensional space.
And I'm gonna attempt to swoop Fig into it
to block her from the moon.
- Give me thieves' tools.
- Rizbert, what are you doing?
- In a role-playing episode,
this is Box of Doom,
and the mirrors appearing
from the twilight shards
are gonna give you the Help action.
Let's go ahead and get
these thieves' tools check,
as you try to save your friend.
- Okay, do one at a time.

- That's a 31 to start.
- Holy sh*t!
All right, 31.
This is all occurring in
a fraction of a moment.
You effectively all have one round, right,
as multiple gods are
interceding in this moment,
as this name has been spoken.
As you push this in,
the first thing that happens,
Riz, is you break a mirror.
The mirror surrounding
Fig trying to protect her,
coming from those shards of Cassandra,
you shatter a mirror and
as the mirror shatters,
you feel the briefcase
start shaking like crazy.
It's like [sucking air] And you can see
it's like an "Alice in
Wonderland" rabbit hole
of like your office and
Elmville and photographs
and case files and like falling up.
As Fig goes in,
I am going to allow
with no understanding,
if Adaine or anyone else that
has the Counterspell spell
just wants to cast it.
There's no ability to
understand what the spell is.
- Six level Counterspell.
[Brennan laughing]
- Once again, having your oracular vision,
you can go ahead and roll this
Counterspell with advantage.
[dark music]
[dice rolling]
- Crit!
- [Brennan] Crit, baby!
Incredible.
As Riz jumps up to get
Fig out of harm's way,
you see the light of the moon is parted,
the armor warps, rust fractures,
and goes to stab into Fig's throat.
The curse, in other words, is like
time to k*ll, time to k*ll.
You raise the Sword of Sight.
The armor of pride in ethereal form
is shattered into six pieces.
You instantly break the curse on Fig,
but the curse follows her
through space into the briefcase,
spinning wildly into
extra dimensional space.
As this fractured armor [clanging]
You see the armor is broken,
but all of its individual
pieces are racing after Fig,
like metal gauntlet,
grieves and all this stuff
moving after her.
Do you have any movement on your turn?
- So briefcase exploded
out of my hand is like,
- No, you were able to control it,
but you can see the
extra dimensional space.
It wasn't just like a normal
little black briefcase,
it's like your files
turned into a whirlpool
stretched into the distance.
- Got it.
So am I able to control this at all?
Like, can I grab this or anything?
- You don't feel like you can shut it,
you could potentially go
into it if you wanted to.
- Cool.
I'm gonna hop in.
- Okay.
- All right.
- Cool, I dive in after Fig,
- Fig, you see Riz falling after
you in space as this armor.
- Oh no, I don't know.
- As you guys are
falling in, you see that-
like one of the gauntlets,
tries to grab at you,
and as it grabs at you,
you feel a hand move out of
the files, grab your arm,
and pull you out of
the way as it begins to
move through the files
and it's a little hand,
a little white bony hand.
Out of the files.
[As Baron] Riz Gukgak.
- No!
No!
- Whose side are you on?
Whose side are you on?
- Whose side are you on, Riz Gukgak?
We gonna die in here together.
You see sh**t through the briefcase.
- [Siobhan] You've been
in there the whole time?
- [Brennan] The whole time.
We're gonna dive through.
That's gonna be Fabian, your turn.
- I guess Perception check on Tracker.
Does it feel like I
could get her back into
the sacredness of the Hallow or is
her werewolf form keeping her out of it?
- Give me Insight or Perception.
- I'll give you Insight,
[die rolling]
and it won't be great. It'll be eight.
- She can't get back in.
You're trying to look for
what the f*ck happened.
I think you feel like
just knowing movement
and bodies moving through space.
You think two things happened.
You think that she was attacked
and that something threw
her out of the circle,
but they might have been different things.
It might have been something very powerful
got her out of the circle
because it couldn't control
what was happening in the circle.
And something in the circle
may have been trying to k*ll her.
- Oh my god, it's just too much.
But I think, seeing the
moonbeams attacking Fig,
I think I'm gonna whip up my battle sheet
and cast Pyrotechnics,
but for the smoke feature
and create a thick black
smoke over the Hallow,
to hopefully prevent moonbeams
from hurting or impacting anyone.
- You throw smoke up to prevent anyone
from being hurt or
impacted by any moonbeams.
Any movement from you?
- If I'm within the stones
at this time, I think I'll-
I think that's safe.
- Copy that. Gorgug, that's your turn.
- [Zac] So within the circle we have Ragh,
none of them were like.
- [Brennan] Tracker and
Nara are both outside.
- [Zac] Wolfsong people
are on the outside.
- You have Ragh. Aelwyn
also jumped in here,
and then it's the rest of you,
and this briefcase that is clattering
and filled with magical
energy on the ground.
- Do we go in the briefcase?

Just gonna into the briefcase.
- Woo, you just Mario straight into the,
into the briefcase.
- And do I have any like wherewithal
once I'm in the briefcase?
- Yeah, as you're falling,
you see Riz ahead of you and Fig past him.
[quietly screaming]

Seeing the like,
the stabbing thing on Fig,
I'm gonna cast Warding Bond on you.
And so you get an extra...

AC and saving throws,
and resistance to damage.

of this armor that's bouncing around
through this winding
crazy tunnel with you.
You get Warding Bond up on Fig.
Adaine, it's gonna be your turn.
- [Siobhan] We're briefcasing?
I'm worried about the
people outside of here.
- Aelwyn looks around,
sees the smoke everywhere,
looks at both of you and
says, I'll stay with Zayn.
I can teleport us both
back to Kei Lumennura.
- Oh, all right.
- You sure?
- I'm positive.
I have the power to teleport.
I can get me and Zayn outta here,
but I couldn't tell,
I don't have enough to teleport all of us.
So if you can get in that briefcase,
it's gonna make it easier.
- Okay, great.
I jump in the briefcase.
- After having just
Countered a god's spell,
you leap back in the briefcase.
Fabian, are you going?
- Yes, I'll hop in.
- [Brennan] You hop in as well.
Kristen, what are you gonna do?
- [Ally] Can I see Cassandra anywhere,
even like a glimpse of her or?
- The shards are glowing so bright.
As you hold the shards,
you see that light coming
from the briefcase, as well.
As all of those mirrors that appeared
flew back down the briefcase.
You remember that in her corrupted form
in like the form of the Nightmare King,
mirrors were a tool that she used a lot.
- Yeah.
- So it's like a weird thing
that it came to help you,
but it's a figure of her corrupted form.
It's all hard to hear.
You hear Tracker yell out, "Kristen!"
from beyond the circle
in worry and concern.
Aelwyn looks at you and says,
"This smoke's gonna disappear
as soon as Fabian gets
far enough down there.
Make your choice."
- Yes, I jump in and I'm trying
to put my hand on the mirror
to see if I can touch Cassandra.
- You touch Cassandra.
Give me a free- you don't have
to use an action to do this.
Give me a Divine Intervention roll.
- Oh my gosh.
Orange will be the big number.
[dice rattling]
Oh, come on.
[dice rolling]
Damn it, 95.
- All right.
Yes, so you put your hand on the mirror.
Are there any spells you wanna cast?
- Do I feel her there?
Is there some sort of
kooky, like her hand, or?
- As you begin to fall,
you see that the smoke
does begin to clear.
As Fabian shoots down into this briefcase,
you see the briefcase suddenly move.
And it's like, as its portal,
like opening shifts sideways.
Aelwyn can't close it either,
but she just picks it up open.
You all look around
and you see falling through
endless files through the space.
Looking back up, you see a
flash of bright moonlight,
and sudden all-encompassing darkness.
And then you hear a roar of flame
and the opening vanishes as you hear
[pained gasping]
And suddenly the entrance is
gone as the briefcase closes,
that you cannot see how it was closed.
All of you are falling in this space.
Is there anything any effect
that's producing light as you fall?
And Kristen, it's still your turn.
- So Aelwyn is gonna grab
the briefcase, right?
And do something holding it.
- [Brennan] She may already have.
- I touch her hand as I'm going in,
so this is before it closes,
and can I cast Death Ward on her?
- Yes you can.
- [Ally] Okay, cool.
- Oh, I have a Lantern of
Revealing that I pull out
and it's like a 30 foot dim light.
- These are glowing bright, right?
- The shards.
So yeah, purple light.
And then past you there's Fabian,
Adaine is falling, all of you.
Fig, you see, once again, this wild armor.
- Was this armor a bridal
gift or a marriage gift?
- You do not know right
now, but it's possible.
- It also reveals invisible stuff.
So that's if-
- Is here anyone invisible
in Riz's briefcase?
- As you all begin falling,
all of you see Baron whip around,
look at Kristen and go,
"I do not think that
you will banish me again
so easily this time, Kristen Applebees."
- Is this where I banished you to?
- I am somewhere always
close to Riz Gukgak.
- Oh, he's so lucky.
I tried to almost like swim fall faster.
- As you're falling faster.
As he goes he says,
"The Nightmare King, very angry,
once again in the arms
of his loving partner.
I think you should be very
afraid Kristen Applebees,
but not of sweet little old
Baron from the Baronies.
You have plenty of fish
in your fish pot to fry
with your fish oil." [blowing]
And disappears into the pages again.
- Very mad.
So Cassandra's mad and with...
- They've both been corrupted again.
- Yeah.
- I guess,
I say as we both fall through space.
- Fig, looking at the
armor and seeing like,
is this bridal armor?
Is there something about it that's like...
- [Emily] A bridal gift.
- A bridal gift?
Go ahead and give me any
kinda skill check you want,
or if you wanna cast a spell
on the armor, go for it.
- [Emily] Does it feel
like it's targeting me?
- [Brennan] Yes, it does
feel like it's targeting.
- Okay, in that case, I
will cast Mislead on myself.
And a duplicate of- I disappear
and an illusory double of me appears
and it has twice my speed.
So, and I can just make it move.
So I just make it go.
- As you send it off,
the curse follows this
illusion screeching down.
And you see as it goes there,
the you turns around,
these files everywhere.
You're all falling again through space.
And you suddenly see that it,
the curse attaches to the illusion.
As the curse is fooled,
it touches this illusion.
The illusion, your own
illusion you created yourself,
bubbles, becomes Gilear,
and the armor turns into
gauntlet becomes a spoon,
a yogurt cup,
and becomes these horrifying
yellow, gleaming f*cked up,
like a pair of sandals
and like a button up tropical shirt,
as the illusion just goes
[screeching and gasping]
And hits the ground.
Impaled, blood everywhere.
All of the objects scatter.
Each of you hit the deck, and each take.
- My bar.
- [Lou] Are we falling?
- Oh, your bar.
- You can use it!
- You have to give me a Dexterity check.
It's just gonna be DC 10,
but it's a Dexterity saving throw.
- Are we falling?
- And can everyone grab?
- [Brennan] Oh, we are falling.
- Can everyone grab onto
me if I grab onto it?
- [Brennan] Yes, yes, yes, yes.
- I'll also cast a level-
- Nat 20!
- [Brennan] Nat 20!
Nat f*cking 20.
- [Brennan] As all of you go, poof.
- So it's a 17.
- So you go, bam, hit this
bar, you grab the battle sheet,
and [indistinct]
Bam, you all stop just short
of impaling yourselves.
As you look at impaling yourselves,
you see that image of an
illusory Gilear-Fig hybrid
explodes, scattering fragments of the,
and I'm gonna say with a
passive Investigation of 21,
you count six fragments,
that scatter of golden armor, throughout.
And all of you, as you are
sitting here looking around,
there's no more paper,
there's no more files.
It's eerily quiet.
You are in Fig's bedroom,
in Mordred Manor.
It is as silent as a graveyard.
I'm gonna need everybody
here to roll Initiative.
