about these singers we're watching.
One of them is gonna have to step up

is the winner of this battle.

Because this season,
each artist who loses their battle

Christina comes from the pop
world, and I come from rock,
so I thought this is
a really powerful team.
Daly: In the battles,
the artists will have to give
the performance of a lifetime.

The battle rounds start right now.
Before our first battle,
let's head over to Blake and his adviser,
three-time Grammy award winner

Million bucks says they don't know me.

As they get settled,
let's meet Blake's first
battle pair of the season...

the 35-year-old Scottish native.
During the blind auditions,
Terry's perfect pitch earned him
a three-chair turn.

Daly: And Terry picked Blake as his coach.

Terry: I would like to reward my
wife and son as much as I can,
and I'm gonna own this moment.

wrestler Casey Muessigmann...
Casey: I weighed 370 pounds.
Daly: ...Had his life changed...
God pushed me back towards
music. I lost 100 pounds.
Daly: ...When two of our coaches
pushed their buttons.

...I was loving that.

Daly: To prepare for battle,
Casey and Terry meet with Blake
and world-renowned vocalist Michael Bublé.

[ Chuckling ] I was very
surprised to see Michael Bublé.
It makes me feel incredibly lucky
to be instructed by two guys
that are as talented
and as experienced as they are.
You wondering why you're together on this?
- Yes, actually.
- Yeah, we're sure.
- What the heck is going on here?
- Well, you're both
just really loud, powerful
singers with great pitch,
and even though I know
you're a country guy,
you both auditioned
with classic-rock songs,
I gave Casey and Terry a song by Kansas
called "Carry On Wayward Son,"
and it has some moments
where we really got to hold out
some big notes,
and that's gonna weed
one of the two of them out.
[ In a country style ] ♪ Once I rose
above the noise and confusion ♪
♪ just to get a glimpse
beyond this illusion ♪
[ Piano stops abruptly ]
Obviously, that's a country take at it.
Just try to make it
a little more like rock.
People say that I'm more like a crooner,
but when I sing a standard,
I sing a standard
- a lot differently than I would sing
a pop song. - Yeah.
I change my technique.
You can totally show America
how versatile you are, man.
Casey: I want someone to push me hard,
and I think Blake picked
the right song to do that.

Michael: Terry's voice is pure.
He reminds me of, like, an
awesome '80s rock anthem singer.

- Wow! That's a pretty cool plan, I think.
- I want to give you guys little fist bumps.

Blake: Michael made
a few suggestions to Casey,
and, instantly,
Casey took that information
and used it and was better already.
And we don't see that that often,
and it was very impressive.
- Terry, what do you think?
- I'm loving it.
It's obviously a great song,
and, obviously,
Casey's got great range
and he's got power,
so any complacency on my part,
and I'll suffer.
Let me tell you what I've seen
happen so many times
on "The Voice" is
the person who is the most comfortable
with the song already,
they just go on autopilot,
and the person who seems to be
the underdog
is the one that rises above.
You know what I mean?
So just keep that in mind, man.
I really just have to stay
incredibly focused.
There's a talented guy standing next to me
who wants, with all his heart,
to send me home,
but I intend to claim my part
of the American dream.
Daly: Following an eye-opening rehearsal,
Casey sits down with Blake and Michael.
I see in you this confidence,
and I know that you think
you can win in this battle.

that musicians so rarely get to give.

to your natural vibe,

song showcases my voice well,

When I sing a tune and I'm not sure,
I kind of get a little insecure,
and I get quiet.

My voice is very soulful.

So somebody needs to rise to the top.
I mean, it's amazing
to see y'all push each other.
