have you ever been to a fair and had

your face painted well today I'm going

to show you how to do it at home Matt

ask of Rapids Minnesota emailed us

the idea it's easier to paint someone

else's face so this is a good thing do

with some friends I'm going to paint

Caroline's face like a dog kayle's face

like a crown and francis's face like a

Jacko Lantern all you need is a set of

water-based face

paints some clean brushes or cotton pads

and a smok so that you don't get any

paint on your clothes you can use an old

shirt first I'm going to paint

Caroline's face like a dog I'm going to

use black face paint to cover the bottom

half of Caroline's nose like this okay

Caroline there oh cool

yeah make sure you hold the brush like

you would hold the pencil because you

have of grip on

it okay you turn your head um spray a

little like that yeah get this side of

your

nose

okay now I'm going to face a rounded

triangle under Caroline's

nose rounded

would you like to be a giant in your own

Universe a remote control car is like a

miniature of a large car and a bonsai is

a miniature of a full-size tree my

name's David I'm 12 years old and I'm

from P Massachusetts and I love the art

of

bonsai Bonsai in Japanese means tree in

pot and they're miniature trees that

resemble large

ones the art of bonsai is hundreds of

years old and it originated in

Asia bonsai trees stay small because

they have a limited amount of space to

grow because they're in

P any plant can be a bonsai and there

are thousands of plants they all grow

flowers and some grow fruit this

miniature lemon Bonsai grows full-size

lemons I learned about Bonsai from my

next door neighbor dance so I logged on

to the internet and I found a local

Bonsai

Nursery first you find a

plant and then you want to prune it and

um depending on where you cut a new

Branch will come out and if the shapes a

little off you can wire it wiring is

when you wrap wire around branches and

then you slowly bend the

branches and as the branch grows you

take off the wire and the branch will be

that

shape the fun thing is it's challenging

you have to try to cut it in certain

ways and you don't know exactly how it's

going to come out in the end so you have

to kind of guess but it also takes scale

in knowing how to cut knowing how to

landscape bonsai trees can live for a

long time this one's close to my age and

this one's close to my dad's age see the

big

trunk I have seven plants in my

collection right

now you have to give it the right amount

of Light and Water it and check for any

bugs this is a preg Mance it's a good

bug because it eats the bad bugs that

destroy your

plant when I grow up I want to be an

engineer but until then I'll enjoy the

art of

bonsa and now for the crown face first I

painted kayle's face right make sure

that you only use one coat of face paint

because if you use too much it won't

look good okay now I'm going to outline

Kay's mouth red face paint to make a big

smile k

next up is the Jacko Lantern

face cool huh it's a tornado in a bottle

it was sent to us by Kirsten P of

Knoxville Iowa to get the water to flow

smoothly between the two bottles you

have to make it swirl do you see how it

works if I don't swirl the bottles the

water doesn't flow smoothly into the

bottom

bottle see how it's kind of like it

looks like there's a monster right here

and it's

going takes a long time yeah it doesn't

look like a tornado

either kind of looks like boiling water

M really crazy boiling water but if I

swirl the bottles the water goes right

into the bottom

bottle oh meat see how fast that is so

smooth to make your own tornado in a

bottle you need two soda

bottles water and

tape okay the first thing you want to do

is fill one of the bottles 3/4 of the

way with

water then take another bottle and put

it on top of the one with water in it so

that the spouts are lined up if they're

not lined up it'll leak okay then you

want to tape it here want me to hold it

for yeah and I'll tape it make sure it's

perfect perfectly lined up that leg

keeps here what if I take a little piece

of tape and when you get it lined up

I'll just put that on and then I'll wrap

it right that's not ready is that lined

up is that line up

okay here we go now I'll wrap it

right have to wrap really oh

there turn the bottles over so the one

with the water in it is on

top see the water has a hard time going

down just gets all

bubbly take

right to make the water go down you have

to swirl it in a circular motion really

fast see now the water from the top can

move to the bottom don't take it up and

down or it won't work

this is why it works when you swirl the

bottle the water starts to move in a

circle and when the water moves fast

enough it pushes out on the sides of the

bottle and creates a hole in the middle

the hole is really hard to

see there's no water in the hole only

air so the hole will allow air from the

bottom bottle to come to the top so

there's room for the water to go into

the bottom

space this sort of water movement with a

special hole in the middle is usually

called the whirlpool so it's really a

whirlpool in a bottle since a tornado

happens in air and a Whirlpool happens

in water we'll show it to you again this

will be the best one this is the best

one oh that's a really good one try it

at home and you'll probably be able to

see the Whirl P even better

Zoom team Lauren s of Watertown

Massachusetts has been in the hospital a

lot and understands that at first it can

be scary so she started an organization

called Kid to Kid where kids who have in

the hospital talk about what it's like

with other kids who are in the hospital

now that's very cool Lauren do you want

to be a member of the Zoom team but

aren't sure how to get started wow check

out the zoom website where you can learn

how to volunteer and see what other kids

are doing Zoom action Zoom action and

join the Zoom

team and now for the Jack Lantern face

draw teeth at the bottom like

and then RAC them on a straw and string

a structure out of paper and straws
