hi I'm Laura from Hot Springs Wyoming
what's up in Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone was the country's first
national park and was establishing in
1872 almost 3 million people come here
every year
Yellowstone Park covers almost 2 and A4
million Acres within the boundaries of
this park there's miles of rivers Acres
of laks and over 200 waterfalls
Yellowstone has almost 10,000 thermal
features in four different kinds geysers
Hot Springs feral or seam Vents and mud
pots there are over 300 geysers in
Yellowstone
Old Faithful is known for how faithful
it is it goes off every 90 minutes and
almost everyone who comes to the park
sees it Old Faithful shoots up an
average of 130 ft and even go as high as
180 ft this beautiful hot spring behind
me is called grand prismatic many people
would think it's a swimming pool but if
you went swimming in there you would be
fried to a Cris the beautiful colors
come from bacteria which live in the
very hot
temperatures this is a herd of Elk elk
are the only land mammals in North
America that have Ivory right
here the American Bison is a symbol of
the West is the largest mammal in the
park they are bigger than a bear and
heavier than a
moose this is a big b Bon swallowing in
the dust to keep the bugs off
I've lived here all my life in
Yellowstone National
Park I like living in Yellowstone
because I can always learn about plants
or
animals there's always new things to
[Music]
learn if you get a chance you really
should come to Yellowstone I'm sure the
wildlife would be glad to meet you
[Music]
bye Mandy M of new Liberia Louisiana
send us the recipe for Jungle bars we
also like to call these Zoo energy bars
because there's a lot of fruit and nuts
in this recipe and it's a really Healy
way to get energy they're also better
for you than the candy bar so you're
going to need two bananas
okay all right so you Cho this one up
now chop this one up all right peel them
first
though let's see
so all
right but they're really messy actually
yeah you're going to get really messy
while making this once you done that add
one cup of chopped dried figs
they look weird yeah I've never seen
this before until now at
least then you're going to add one cup
of chopped dried apricots
yum oh cool and then add one cup of chop
pitted dat I've never seen dates
before that's some cool
stuff probably want to like shake them
around as you go yeah get I'll mix
together yeah and then you add one cup
of
raisins oops then add two cups of
granilla okay then you add one cup of
chopped toasted
almonds
good it's like a mountain then add 2
tbsp of almond butter or peanut butter
almond butter and peanut butter are
really kind of the same thing things
taste a bit different but they'll both
work kind of looks like P butter I know
it does I think this will help the bars
to stick together yeah
probably and last but not least
add some coconut that's all like
shredded shredded coconut one cup all
righty Co like snow I that I that is so
cool snow on the
mountain all righty now you want to mix
everything together really
well look at this is it hard it is kind
of hold the bowl all
right you're stabbing it to like so the
banana split up little you probably
should do that good point bananas are
really big and you don't stab it to get
as many bananas as you could you want to
try okay all
right wao that is hard is that hard all
right well it's really hard to mix so we
just on the 30 right yep all
right here we go that looks much better
okay
then you press your mixture into a 13x9
baking pan all right we have here here
we
go it's all
sticky it's hard to get out probably
going to you want to try
little yeah just take it with your hand
wash your hands before you make this
definitely okay now we want to press it
in yep there we go a spatula yep
doesn't do much though look at this like
just rubbing
it okay so you know I'm think I'm just
going to use my hands for a little while
all right you really want to get in all
the corners and press it down really
really
hard all right
there make sure you get all the corners
really really press it down all right
now you want to cover your pan
in BL
scrap oh you okay yeah I'm
fine all right
I'll hold
it all righty now now you want to
refrigerate overnight to allow flavors
to blend together there we
go got
it there we
go
okay then cut your mixture into squares
this makes about 48 junle bars right
here oh yeah yum taste time
M so good thanks Mandy thank you Mandy
really good
[Music]
mhm if you were stranded on a deserted
island and wanted to get off and back to
civilization a WFT could really come in
handy so we've decided to take on a
challenge sent To Us by Jessica from
Oceanside California to build what she
calls a surviv driving raft Jessica says
our raft has to be sted enough to carry
supplies like food and water we can use
any of these materials to build our raft
then we're going to test out our raft in
this
ocean I was thinking you know how we
have these cups and have you ever tried
like if for your bath or in a sink when
you put a cup down into water the air
stays on top of it like yeah the air
wants to push it up yeah so it floats M
and so I was thinking like what if we
attached cups onto plywood want to try
that yeah that s like good idea I cleans
out so we're going to have a piece of
plywood on the top so here like that
would be the plywood M and then the cups
would be like all yeah they' all be next
to each other we have to make sure it's
even though because like if you were to
put Like Potatoes on it then one side
would be going over exactly so we and we
have to distribute the we evenly like
since we have two jugs and one back of
potatoes we could put like a jug on this
side a jug on that side potato in the
middle yeah you guys want to try those
this okay sure let's work on it see so
how many people what do we want to use
just one I think okay so put it like
that all right so which cups do you want
to use which ones do you think would
work let's go test out each kind of cup
so let's take one paper cup and one of
these I'll take a plastic cup cuz we
have these two those look like they all
right so let's see let see ready I'll
put this one in okay I'll put this one
in
ready Let's See How They floor on the
top is the paper one is the paper one
getting soggy no it's getting good I
think it has like a wax coating yeah all
right so up all right so oh that kind of
tip the plastic is not well you could
like it's going to stay sturdy though
cuz we'll have um PW on top of it let's
look at styrofoam cuz it seems like the
sturdiest kind of yeah how how do you
want to space it out we have to make
sure that there's like equal amount of
Cups on the side what if we like set
them up around the perimeter and then we
can put more in if we want to yeah we
should leave a little like space on the
edges though yeah okay all right let's
do this you guys want to test it sure
put down okay it's probably not going to
work yet because we don't we yeah let's
just see if it will make sure you don't
like tip it though we have to put it
right down in the
water get
ruined no it works yeah it down oh
that's so cool hey you guys want to try
to put the I think more we can just put
on put it in the middle though don't try
to it worked oh my go you guys are kind
of when we have to put both of them down
at once watch out don't put put them
down
three oh
no okay Abandoned Ship someone get that
side Okay jump
sh okay that was pretty good for the
first time yeah it definitely works with
potatoes yeah over there okay so that
was really good yeah it was that was
awesome so I guess the cup idea works
huh yep I'm pretty sure it's going to
work now all right so now let's put some
more cups in the middle oh that kind of
garbage bag in the middle and that'll be
like that extra support oh yeah we try
that try that sure definitely yeah okay
so here we go again our potatoes might
get wet yeah we don't want wet potatoes
I like I prefer M get the
other hope we
survive o Rocky that's not going to work
let's see let's try it well all oh it's
up on that side we got to put put put
put it further on that end and then
we'll put it closer in here all right so
put it closer that hey it
works good job guys yeah it work good
job guys nice cool so why do you think
the raft didn't sink that's because it's
buoyant here's what that means when we
put our RS in the water it started to
sink pushing the water away from it kind
of like it made a hole in the water
the raft stopped sinking when the weight
of the water pushed out of the way was
equal to the weight of the raft with
everything on it when the raft stopped
sinking there was still some rat above
the surface of the water that's what it
means to float okay ready let's H her in
keep watching cuz later in the show
we're going to see if our WRA still
floats when I get on top of it no
don't and now it's time for Jim and
Judy oh one ticket please Judy that's
the third ticket you bought in 5 minutes
I know and each time I try to get
through the door some dummy ripped it in
[Music]
[Applause]
half Zoom game
this is a clapping game I like to play
called slide so narina and I are going
to play it first then we're going to
slow it down and show you how to play
Ready
slide two one two two 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3
okay so this is how you play first you
hold your hand so that your palms are
facing each other then slide your hand
along your partner's hand then clap take
your right hand and slap it against your
partner's right hand then you clap then
you take your left hand and slap it
against your partner's left hand then
you clap then you take the backs of your
hand and slap it against your partner's
back hand then you turn your hand around
and slap your palms together then you
clap now you're going to do this again
except this time you do everything twice
then you do it again except this time do
everything three times and so on all
right now you could keep going faster
and faster to see how high you can go
until you mess up
so want to do that yeah so let's start
off slow though look my fingers first
okay ready oh don't do that okay ready
slide one one one two one two one two
one two 3 1 2 3 1 2
3 1 2 1 2 three four 1
2 1 2 three four 5 1 2
1 2 3 5 1 2
[Applause]
3 we volunteered by collecting toys for
children in Iraq since our classmates's
father is stationed there we've been
writing letters to lots of soldiers one
day we got the idea to send toys that
the soldier could give out to the AR k
when we found out the soldiers like the
idea we got started first we found a big
basket and then each of us brought in
toys that we weren't using anymore
little by little the basket started to
pull up we were able to collect over 300
toys our teacher calls this an act of
kindness but we just knew we wanted to
do something nice do you volunteer in
your community if you do you already
remember the team we want to hear all
about it send in your story along with
any photos or videos to to this address
remember the small things you do can add
up to make a big
difference and join the Zoom
team hope we survive earlier in the show
we built a WFT that's St enough to
support two gallons of water and a stack
of potatoes about 21 lb hey it works
wooho
guys now we want to see if our WRA will
hold three times that amount about the
weight of
Taylor as you can see it's kind of
sinking yeah it's starting to S so if we
were to put you on this Taylor it it
would not not hold you you cuz this is
just 21 lbs we've got some repairing to
do so right pretty much well the airs
out of the back maybe that's what part I
was thinking cuz hair is all o the bag
is full water I guess we got to scratch
that idea so I guess
I mean I don't think we really need a
new trash
bag balloons the same though yeah
[Music]
balloons so now do we want bons on the
edges here do you want to test it out
first us and see if we actually need
them sure we might not okay so let's see
I think in this case You' only need four
instead of more than just four yeah yeah
all right let's do this come on R for me
yeah look at that go all the only
problem is it could be a little lopsided
do you want to try to float the these
yeah oh four one water jug weighs about
8 lb so if you had four it'd be 32 lb
yep so about half my
weight we need one more in this
side yeah it doesn't even look going
down so that's
good want try try it let's try
it okay ready Let's help her in all so
but try I think you should sit in the
middle try to balance yourself you
should lay across find
B thank you n that
helps oh no no
don't I got it get
get we just got to make it more sturdy
yeah like like the tape keeps coming off
so maybe when we wrap it all the way
around it be more secure like look at
that it's so wet yeah yeah so maybe we
have like backup tape or something and
balloons on the edges like we said
before go under we keep saying we're
going to do that we never do it we never
do it I say we put duct tape all around
the raft okay let's do it all
right okay so we got the balloons on the
corners now you got guys want to try it
out
definitely okay me too
wa this isn't a pizza
delivery you want to be safe with your
pizza too though you got a couple
balloons some okay we stay I'll a little
bit oh that's much better okay ready
yeah it looks better do no it looks good
so we might try t on it now ready Taylor
oh bring it back yep safety of our
children and Taylor mostly me mostly
Taylor okay okay look
it's perfect doesn't even s good job
guys if you want to build a raft like
ours at home make sure you get your
parents permission you can also build a
smaller W like one that holds your soap
and sponge while you're taking a bath or
one that hold your soda while you're
lounging in a pool this is so cool
[Music]
Taylor try it out and sure to send your
ideas to do
[Music]
