Being an artist has always
been a dream of mine,

but it's honestly nerve-wracking
to do something different

than what my family has
done for all of these years.

I was a full-time
worship pastor.

I left my newlywed wife at home.

I'm doing full-time.

As far as singing experience,
how did you get to this point?

I'm kind of like a
city-slash-country girl.

My first taste of loving
music was when I would

go to my grandmother's
house for the summers.

My uncle would play guitar.
That's when I fell in love.

But growing up, I just got
in so many relationships

that were unhealthy,

and I hadn't sang
for a really long time,

and then I had my daughter.

I'm in a very healthy
relationship right now.

All he does is support my
music, and I'm going into it

because I know this
is where I belong.

This is a recovery story
for me, you know? Yeah.

Music is so therapeutic for me.

And to be able to
do that as an artist

and also have that
with my daughter...

You know, she sings
my songs and she's like,

"Mom, I love this
song," you know?

This song is perfect
for you. It is, yeah.

You know, I think you need to
play on that with your own story

even more, because it's
going to be healing for you.

Jacquie: When I was in
my darkest relationship,

I really did need a favor.

it was just such a
amazing moment.

What excites me most is that
she has so much experience.

I'm only 17 years old.

Like, it's surreal.

What an experience
for y'all. I know, yeah.

I got my contract, got
married, everything,

the same year, '76.

I was 21 and I... pfft, stupid,

didn't know anything
about the music business.

I thought you got a record
on the radio and you're rich

and you got a tour bus, and...

I didn't have a number-one
record from '76 to '83,

so it was just little,
baby steps all the way up.

Yeah. That's what it is.

It's about chipping
away at that goal.

And I think being
out here, I mean,

this is the ultimate experience.

Alison: Having Reba coaching us,

that was one of the
coolest moments of my life.

I moved last August to LA
from Ann Arbor, Michigan,

and I work writing custom
songs for customers

who want a song about
their mom's birthday

or their anniversary.

And it allows me
to hone my craft

songwriting and producing music,

while also making enough
money to live in L.A.,

but I really want to elevate
my career as an artist,

so I auditioned for the show,

and that totally
changed my routine.

Right before I went on, I
said, "I hope Reba turns."

Even if all four had turned,

she, I believe, isthe
right coach for me.

She's done all different
facets of the industry.

That's really inspiring,

and I really see that
for my career, too.

song to me is emotion.

If it's just words coming out
of your mouth with a melody,

But if you come in
with this ball of energy

at the pit of your stomach
that you've got to talk about,

it's going to touch everybody
in a 75,000-seat stadium,

because youfeel it.

Now, this is a song, in my mind,

a conversation between
me and the Lord,

and I am in a very
depressed state.

I think I'm worthless.

So when you are
singing this song,

it's very humbling.

It's baring your soul.

So it's not much movement
when you're performing it.

It's... you're broken.

Angelina: Being a singer
means being an actress,

means being a storyteller,

and to hear Reba's wise words,
it opened up this new alleyway

for me to really represent
the words for once.

A lot in my life,
people have always

called me confident and said,

"Wow, you're so
vibrant and extroverted."

But in my mind, I never
truly felt good enough.

So when I sang this
song, it just feels like

I'm opening up about
that part of myself

that is kind of
scared to be here.

I'm only 17 years
old, and this is

my first time being
on a big stage.

My biggest performances
were at home,

when we'd have guests
over, and my dad would be like,

But for me, new things

is actually the only
constant in my life.

countries already,

that upbringing,

I have this adaptability

that is only helping me
throughout this process,

and I hope that I can
continue to prove myself

there, it's a scary place to be.

Sounds so harrowing.

But it was phenomenal
once you both got into it.

Alison, your ability
to sing up there

for basically the guts of
the song was phenomenal,

and it was really emotional.

I was, like, getting goose
bumps as I was listening to it.

It's crazy to think
that a 17-year-old

is able to just conjure up

seen so far has been insane.

I've done this seven seasons,

and every time,
it blows me away.

Also, just watching
the other teams,

because you don't get that
time with them in between,

and you just see this big jump
from the blinds to the battles.

It's just so inspiring.

I kind of always struggle with

the younger
contestants that leave.

she's 15 years old,

and in her head, she
could potentially be thinking,

it. It's all over for me."

But you helped her so much,
