you know, I love sharing things
that I've gone through

in my career that could be helpful.

My college roommate, Beth Crump and I,
we were on the rodeo team,

and we'd get in her truck
and go out to the rodeo arena

and be playing Doobie Brothers.

I've been doing a lot of modern country,
which I love.

But the reason this song is
so important to me

is it's one that I remember singing
with my dad.

Growing up, my dad was my hero.

He passed away back in 2013.

Up until we lost our son,
that was the worst day of... of my life.

I miss him dearly.

This song allows me
to travel back in time,

if you will,
to those moments in my life, you know,

when you were just so carefree,
and I know he's looking down.

I hope I'm making him proud.

in performing live is,

I think that's how Broadway has helped me.

It's about finding
those moments of connection.

your eyes a little more.

Anything that feels
like you shutting them out,

So, that was probably 25 years ago.

What got me excited about Josh was

all the things he can do with his voice,

and on top of that, the possibilities
of what that performance can be.
