and a judge i think i would like to be a

policeman or a writer

a baseball player

a doctor or a basketball player a

scientist and an architect

astronaut

maybe a movie star or the president of

the united states i like to be a

counterwoman or a director a ballet

teacher and a vet

a fireman a policeman

a reporter

a dolphin trainer and an acrobat

flying saucer and be a world champion

and then maybe a tennis pro and then an

my name is skye and um i'm calling from

the puzzle place

oh great i i mean sort of great i called

you guys because um i want to be a

performer when i grow up and i didn't

know about any native american musicians

uh are you um native american

i'm apache

i'm apache too and paul's from the

pueblo and

he knows from the pueblo in taos

he's with the red willow people ah

that's great before i heard about you

guys i was really sad i thought that i

couldn't be a musician because i'd never

heard of any apache performers

i guess that was kind of silly huh no

it's not silly there are a lot of native

american performers and you can be

whatever you want to be you don't

necessarily have to follow in someone

else's footsteps if if no one's doing it

or you're not in contact with someone

who's doing what you want to be or what

your dream is be the first to do it you

can do whatever you want you can

accomplish anything you want in this

life

wow

did you ever have a problem like mine

it's hard

but you can always look up to your

elders because our role models are our

elders you know our elders are the ones

that that teach us everything they're

the ones that hand down

who we are to us the whole culture

that's who our role models are i never

really

had anybody that was playing rock and

roll music that i could look up to to

play music with so i had to create my

own way a plane

so i

made my own traditional drums

and i'm using those drums now

to bring a celebration of life with our

drums and our songs

look inside you and and and connect with

that and connect with who you are and

where you're coming from

you know when you're when you're at home

on your reservation and you're with your

people you know your songs your dances

you know your power

you know connect with that power and use

it in a good way and and use that gift

that the creator gave you that he gave

to all of us no matter where we come

from or what culture or what nation we

come from we all have our special gifts
