Oh, well, lookie here, y'all. I brought

along my favorite book.

You did?Well, what's it called?Well, it's

called Big Mouth Gulch.

Oh, it's kind of gunky looking. Well, you

can't judge a book by its little old

cover, Timmy. Will you read it?

Oh, you bet I will. OK.

Ready?Yeah! Okay.

Once upon a time, back in the

old west, before the days of the Boogie

Board and the VCR, life

was simple. All over the west,

towns were popping up like daisies on a

spring day. And each

of these tiny towns had a tiny little

watering hole, where everything

happened. Now,In this

town called Big Mouth Gulch, the watering

hole was called the Dry Mouth Saloon,

and folks came from miles around just for

their famous lemonade. And

boy, was it tasty!

Greens up! Ouch!

Now, what is the big idea?It weren't

my... He... He pushed me! Well, it

weren't my... What do you mean it weren't

your... I'm the

bartender! Yeah, I can't help it if you

can't catch... My head! Well...

My head! He's

the sheriff!

you get

the T-shirt?Well, it sure is a

beautiful ring. Oh, oh, you sure got away

with words there, well.

Hi, everybody. Well, howdy,

Cheryl. Now, I couldn't help but over

here, you guysraising your voices and

arguing.

Now, you all know what we do with arguers

and voice raisers here in Big Mouth,

don't ya?

Okay, then. Shucks. Oh, I'm

sorry, Bunky. Me too, clown.

Sorry, it won't happen again. Oh,

that's all right. All right

All right, now, you know what to do.

Do we have to, Sheriff?

Mm-hmmCome on over

here. Very nice. That was one of the best

group hugs I've seen in a long

time. Yee-haw and

whoop-dee-doo! Are y'all having a good

time today?

Yee-haw! Yeah, well, the fun's just

beginning, 'cause it's time for Miss

Floss's Wild West Review!

Ohh Here's my first guest, the sweetheart

of a prairie, Senorita

Anita!

Gooney the Kid If he comes

to your town Heaven

forbid! He'll make a mess and

he'll throw his trash He'll hoot and

holler and steal your cash He'll

say, Look what he did! Gooney the Kid

Gooney Gooney Gooney the Kid

If you happen to smile

He'll take it away

And if you're friendly, he'll stay

Out of my way! He's the meanest, the

baddest, and he's really rude He's a

bumbling dude with an attitude

Did you see what he did?Gooney the Kid

Gooney Gooney

Gooney Gooney the Kid

If you happen to see

Head for the hills. He's

quite unsightly. He'll

give you the chills. He doesn't

bathe or wash his face. He leaves the

mess all over the place. Did you

see what he did?Gooney the Kid.

Gooney.

Gooney. Gooney. Gooney the Kid.

oh I think I'm in

love. Wow, Gooney the Kid is sure a mean,

tough, bad hombre.

You sure showed them arguers, Sheriff

Timmy. Oh, and by the by. Thanks for

watching Old Horsey while I was on

vacation. Don't mention it, Gus.

Oh, Sheriff Timmy, say something. Thank

you so much for finding my little dog,

Chester. Oh, and for the flea bath, too.

Oh, and Sheriff, I sure do remember the

time you came over and ironed my Sunday

go-to meeting dress-up pants for me. It's

all part of cleaning up Big Mouth, folks.

But the best thing of all is the

beautiful new town library you built for

us. Let's hear it for the library!

Sheriff, Sheriff, it's Gooney the Kid.

He just rode into town. I saw him with my

own eye. Ah

G-G-Gooney the Kid?Why, he's

mean. And

on right! And he

smells bad, too! Whoo!

Well, it sure is a good thing we got

Sheriff Timmy on our side. Yeah.

Yep, yepI have to agree with that. Give

me the kid. Too many biblets.

It wasn't long before the customers of

the Dry Mouth Saloon heard the footsteps

of a stranger.

Hello. hello

is there anybody here hmm

oh well I was expecting someone else

oh I see yeah well what can I get

for you well let me see I'm quite

thirsty after my long and tedious journey

perhaps sir you could give me a glass of

your finest lemonade and make it snappy

well excuse me kind sir but aren't you

forgetting to say something hmm

no I don't think soI do believe

I've said exactly what I wanted to say.

Uh, perhaps you didn't hear me.

I said, give me a glass of your finest

lemonade and make it strappy. Well,

kind gentlemen, you must not be from

around here, because we say things a

little differently than that. Well,

let me see. What am I

forgetting?Ah, yes,

silly me. I've forgotten my manners.

May I please have a glass of your finest

lemonade?Please. Ah

There you go. And who might you be,

partner?Well, my

card.

Goonius Nemesis III, at your service.

So, Goonius Nemesis III, a

nice, classy guy on the outside?

I think I know who you really are.

Oh, do you now?

Well, I know that you're the sheriff. I

can tell by your nice, shiny new little

badge on your hat. Yes.

It's very kind of you to recognize me.

So, who might I be?

Well, I think you're Gooney the Kid.

Very good, sheriff. You

win the prize. Yes.

Yes, I used to be Goonie the Kid, but no

longer. I've changed my ways. Oh.

I've changed my clothes. Ah

Yes, Yes I've even changed my socks.

Yes, Sheriff, I've cleaned up my act. I'm

no longer the mean messy goon that I was.

See?Hmm

OK. I think I can accept that. All right.

OK. So Mr. Gooney is Nemesis

III, who's changed his ways from the

mean, messy goon that he once was. Yes?

What brings you here to Big Mouth Gulch?

Well, Sheriff, I've come to your

beautiful town merely seeking employment.

Yes. In fact, I would like nothing more

than to get a nice job right here in Big

Mouth Gulch and settle down.

Yes, that's what I'd like. HmmOkay, all

right. I think I can accept that. Yeah,

okay.

So, Mr. Nemesis III, what kind of job you

looking for?Maybe I can help you. Well...

That's funny you should ask, Sheriff. You

see... the job

I'm looking for... is

yours!

Timmy! Tiblets! Say

hi, everybody! Hi, Tim!

Sorry I'm late. I just thought I'd bring

a little storytime meal.

Pizza! Oh yeah, be careful, Timmy. It's

hot, okay?OkayNeat

book! What are you reading?Oh, oh!

Is it the one where the intergalactic

space travelersvisit our solar system?

Or Or is it the one where the the big

tree rips itself from the ground to

save all the plants and trees from the

sun's harmful rays?Is it that one?Which

one is it?Why, it's only my most favorite

story of all time. It's called Big Mouth

Gulch, honey, and it's just getting

exciting. So sit down. Go ahead, Timmy.

Big Mouth Gulch?I love that story.

So, Sid, just to fill you in on where we

are-- Yep. It was a

sunny game, big mouth goats, and everyone

was hanging out at the dry mouth saloon.

There was a little misunderstanding at

the lemonade bar, but then there was this

big group hug and everything was fine.

Seniorita Anita sang this moving

rendition of the legend of Gooney the

Kid, complete with these beautiful

pictures. Just then, a dapper fellow with

a cane stepped in and everyone thought he

was Gooney the Kid, although he didn't

look like Gooney the Kid. So Sheriff

Timmy asked him who he was and he said he

was Gooney Stemmister the third. But in

reality, he was a much cleaned up version

of the mean messy Gooney the Kid. He was

after Sheriff Timmy's job.

So, are you with me so far?Sorry, Timmy.

I wasn't listening.

Uh, OK. So let's continue. OK. The

Goon did his best to become the sheriff

of Big Mouth Gulch. Wanted,

Gooney the Kid, for being a bad guy.

Also known as Sloppy McDermott, Messy

McSlime, and Gooney as Nemesis the Third.

Gooney the Kid tried every trick in the

book to convince the good people of Big

Mouth Gulch to give him the job of

sheriff.

Ah Yes, my

friends, let me tell you, you've got

trouble. Big trouble right here in

Big Mouth Gulch! Yeah, it's big.

Really big! Now, many of you might not

be aware of the absolutely terrible

job your sheriff has been doing lately.

Yeah, terrible! Absolutely

terrible! Well, my friends,

I'm sorry to be the one who must bring

you all the bad news, but

it's about time you found out. Yes.

First of all,Did you know...

that Sheriff Timmy once returned a book

to the library... late?No!

Yeah! And there's more! Oh, yeah!

There's lots more! More than you'll ever

know! Oh, there's so much more that...

it's just way too much for any one poison

to handle! Oh, the pressure...

the pressure! The pre--

Excuse me.

Thank you, sweetie. Now, as I

was saying...

What was I saying?Oh, yes.

Did you know... Oh. I...

I don't know if I can continue. Ohh It's

just too painful. Come on, do

this, tell us, we wanna know! Yeah, yeah

All right, if you insist... Did you know

that Sheriff Chimmy... often has

in between meal snacks...

HmmNo! No Yes!

Yes I know. I knowThe

tooth can be painful to your sensitive

ears. HuhAnd speaking

of ears, did you also know that

your sheriff does not wash behind his

ears?HmmWhat do you think of that? No! No

NoYes! Yes Yes

Wait a minute. A bunkie?Sheriff Timmy

don't have no ears. You're right as rain,

Clem. By golly, he got them with our

roots. Good people of big-mouth

ghosts! Let me assure you that

if you would consider me as your new

sheriff, they will be honesty,

fun, and plenty of

free... Uh..

Parky.

Oh,

I stand corrected. Plenty of free

lemonade! This isn't

clear to share tinny at all. I'm gonna do

something about this rat and mace.

Don't, everyone, stop! Don't listen to

this rubbish! Remember, this is

really Gooney the Kid!

Uh, yes, this is true, I am Gooney the

Kid, but look at me, I've changed for the

better, see?

ohh Can you steal the lead's

medalist and please sit next to the

sheriff?Yeah?Okay. Uh,

yes, you were saying, Miss Paige Turner?

Yes, you can take it from me, Miss Paige

Turner, the town librarian. You can't

judge a book by its cover. ohh

How can you so quickly be persuaded to

turn against our faithful sheriff after

all he's done for us?After all he's done

for Big Mount Scubs?Yeah!

Well, shucks. I reckon Miss Turner's

right. You bet see this.

And how can you forget the library that

Sheriff Penny built with his own two

hands?That's right. That's

right. Three cheers for Sheriff Timmy!

Hooray! Hooray!

Hooray! What's this?Help!

Help Somebody stole my precious necklace!

I wonder who this belongs to. Yoo-hoo!

Yoo-hoo! Does anybody know who this

belongs to?

Look, everyone, look!

Sheriff Jimmy has the necklace.

Oh, I told you, he can no longer be

trusted. Definitely not. He cannot be

trusted. Now, do you believe me, who?

Okay, let's see. Carrot sticks and

cauliflower and cucumber, yeah. So did

the people of Big Mouth Gulch believe

this gooniest guy?Ooh, some did. Come on

or you'll miss the rest of the story. I'm

just loving every minute of this little

old story there, Timmy. I don't thank you

for... And then Sheriff Timmy held up

the necklace... Wait, don't tell me. What?

You mean the townsfolk thought Sheriff

Timmy stole the necklace?Yeah! How'd

you know?Sorry, Timmy.

Well, Sheriff Timmy explained that he

didn't steal the necklace. Someone must

have dropped it at his feet. I'll bet it

was the goon that took it.

But after that, folks just didn't trust

Sheriff Timmy the same way.

Well, hi there, Sheriff. Ohh We know it

weren't you who took that necklace here.

Yeah, we know it. We know it with all our

heart. Mm-hmmThanks, fellas.

You're welcome. Bye. Bye-bye. So long.

Bye. Think you did it?I don't know. What

do you think, Lam?Yeah. Uh, no. No

Well, a plum, no, noHmm

Well?

Well, well

Well, well, well

Well, well, well, wellWell,

well, well, well, wellLet 'em

have it, Goonie. Good idea, Sweetie. I

think I will. WillWillRight. Yes. Good.

Well, here you are, Sheriff, or should I

say, used to be Sheriff. What's

this? It's a petition signed by every

good citizen of Big Mouth Gulch, asking

you to kindly give up your job as

sheriff. Now, uh,

take a look and go away. Is this

one of your tricks?

Yes. No,

no, noThe good people of Big Mouth Gulch

would never do a thing like that. You

wouldn't do a thing like that, would you?

Well, he made us,

sheriff.

Gooney, cheaters never prosper. And

I'm not quitting. No

kidding! This is going to be harder than

I thought. We may have to win this one

fair and square, Sweetie.

Nah. Oh, Gooney. Yes. How

about a showdown?

Yes, all right. All right, Sheriff

Timmy. I hereby challenge you

to a showdown at 12 o'clock noon

today to find out once and for all

who should be the sheriff of Big Mouth

Goats. Um, sorry, Goonie.

That won't work for me. At 12 noon, I'm

picking up my custom brand new cowboy

boots. Would 12:05 be OK for you?Ah

Yes, I think that'll be all right. Well,

good. I'll see you then. All right.

All right, to the time room, sweetie. OK.

Now, the last time we had one of the--

WellOh, great, not this

again. Well, what?

Um, how do you like my new cowboy boots?

Oh, actually, they're quite nice. The red

really sets off your tie. What am I doing?

Let's get on with this! All right,

Goonie, I'm gonna show you how we settle

fights here in Big Mouth Gulch.

I'm waiting. Hit it, Miss

Flossy. Yee-haw! Oh,

not another song. Howdy y'all, I'm

Miss Flossy.

Pardon me, partners I

got something to say So there's nothing

here In Big Mouth Gulch

We don't show down that way

If you want to square up And

you all disagree

There is a much better way Let's

have a spelling bee Put on your thinking

caps Use your head The

game is just because

your smart sweet You've got your brain

A western duel of wits is fine

So if you're a square I'll sing as you

all deserve Well, I'm here to tell you

there is a much better life

What's that spelling be?Yee-haw!

Yee-haw! Yeah,

boys, as you know, all

words are made-up of these here letters

of the alphabet. See upBut,

which ones make up the words in our

little old spelling bee, hmmWell, that's

for y'all to figure out. Hmm

This may be harder than I thought. And

now, may your pace tell them what

they'll win?The winner of the

spelling bee will be Sheriff

forever.

Ah

Now, then, the first word of our spelling

bee goes to, uh, Mr. Gooniest

Nemesis. Oh! Gooney, gooney, gooney,

goon! Okay, settle down. Thank you. The

first word is, uh, let's see. Oh, how do

you spell cats?Oh, that's an easy

one. Yeah. Kat.

K-A-T. Cat.

Yay! Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.

Now it's Sheriff Timmy's turn to try.

Cat. C-A-T. Any of a

family of predaceous mammals, including

the lion, the tiger, the leopard, and the

lynx. But most common is the house cat.

Cat. Ratty Roo!

Don't

give him an easy one. OK, Mr. Nemesis.

Yes, I'm ready. Here's your next word.

OK. Um, book.

Uh, ah book.

B-U-K. Book. Something you

stand on to reach the high shelf where

all the goodies are. Book! Ha ha ha!

We're winning, yes! No,

no, no, no, noMust pray that's completely

and totally incorrect. Ma'am. What?Your

term, Sheriff Timmy. Book.

B-O-O-K. A number of sheets of

paper with writing or pictures on them,

fastened together, and usually found in

libraries. Book. Write again! Uh,

I don't like this game, Smoothie. Yeah,

boys. For our final word of the

contest, this is the final one for the

big winner, you know. And it's a

humdinger. It's a humdinger! Okay, the

word is, uh..

UmAluminum. Um

Aluma-- Aluma what?UmLet's

see. Um, um.. I can't find it,

boys. Hon, hon, there's no help

allowed. Thank you. Thank you.

There's no such word. Yeah. Yes.

Oh, yes, there is. Aluminum.

A-L-U-M.

Yes, Sheriff Timmy?I...

N-U-M. Aluminum. That is

correct. Stratch, aluminum.

Fold again. Sheriff Timmy is

the winner!

Yee-haw! Sheriff, Sheriff, the

gingivitis g*ng is a Cummins of town!

The gingivitis g*ng?We're mine.

They've alreadySmell it, too.

I'm not worried. They're not very good

spellers.

Yup, Sheriff Timmy. So, Sheriff Timmy

helped Looney the Kid get his library

card so he could learn to spell better.

The end. Wow!

What a great story!

Boy, I sure can go for a tall glass of

lemonade right now. Not

me. I'm a hankering for some soup. Really?

Mm-hmmWhat kind?Alphabet

soup.

Good luck, too. Hey, thanks for bringing

the book over, Ms. Clossie. Oh,

ohh and thanks for bringing the pizza,

Sid. NoOh, ohh and thanks for bringing

the vegetables, please. Oh, where's my

fisher?

It's story time again. Time to settle

in. Let our imagination

fly. It's like a trip to the zoo. A

roller coaster too. It's Zuma with a

magic hunter ride. It's

story time again, when I open up a

book. I can travel anywhere that's near

or far. I can move to any

land, Rocky Mountains to the tin. I don't

even need a plane, a train, or car.

It's story time again, it's story time

again. Wonders to discover,

fun with all my friends. It's story time

again, it's story time again. Time

to open up my book and read out loud!

Adventures that I know, are on East Page

waiting just for me. It's

story time again! It's story time

again! Wonders to discover, fun

with all my friends! It's story time

again! It's story time again! Time to

open up my

book and read out loud! Bow?

Hmm
