[male narrator] Come on, kids.
Let's go to the four-legged zoo.

[children talking excitedly]

[all] ♪ We went to the four-legged zoo ♪

♪ To visit our four-footed friends ♪

[children]
♪ Lions and tigers, cats and dogs ♪

♪ A goat and a cow and couple of hogs ♪

[man] A rhinoceros and, of course,
a hippopotamus.

And, oh, yes, a horse.

[children]
♪ There were elk and bison, a gnu or two ♪

♪ Giraffes and elephants, quite a few ♪

[man] ♪ A llama, alpaca, vicuna, too ♪

♪ Zebras, ibexes, and one big kudu ♪

It was swell.

I like the gazelle.

Miss Simpson said--

She teaches school, you know.

Yeah. She took us there.
Miss Simpson said...

If you counted every head
on these quadrupeds

Then multiplied by 4,

We'd know how many feet
went through the door

If we turned them loose.

[children] Don't do that!

[boy] It's really a groovy zoo.

[children] But anyway, Miss Simpson said

it was a chance
to work on 4's in our head.

1, 2, 3, 4.

[man] ♪ I'll take a lion ♪

[children] ♪ 1 x 4 ♪

[man]
♪ He's got 4 legs and maybe more ♪

[children]
♪ Give me 2 camels, that's 2 x 4 ♪

♪ Eight legs walking across
the desert floor ♪

[man]
♪ A tiger and a lamb and a fat kudu ♪

[all]
♪ Would have 3 x 4 equals 12 legs, too ♪

♪ But we might have to subtract
when that tiger was through ♪

Roar!

♪ Four four-footed friends
No matter who ♪

♪ Would have 16 legs,
and it's always true ♪

[children]
♪ That 4 x 4 equals 16 ♪

♪ 5 x 4 is 20 ♪

[man] ♪ Now, a coach and 6
If you were Cinderella ♪

♪ Would have you home by midnight ♪

♪ If those 24 legs ran fast as light ♪

[children]
♪ 6 x 4 equals 24 ♪

♪ 7 x 4 equals 28 ♪

[man] ♪ Anyone knows that
who cares about 7 ♪

[children] ♪ Eight antelope have 32 legs ♪

♪ 'Cause 8 x 4 is 32 ♪

[man]
♪ Here come a small herd of buffalo ♪

♪ They say
they're getting extinct, you know ♪

[boy] ♪ I count 9, that's 36 legs ♪

[children] ♪ 9 x 4 equals 36 ♪

♪ Here comes a baby buffalo ♪

[man] ♪ That's good, that's 10 ♪

♪ And 10 x 4, you know, is 40 ♪

♪ Eleven coyotes ♪

[children] ♪ 11 x 4 ♪

[man]
♪ Went sneaking over the prairie floor ♪

♪ on all of their legs ♪

[boy] ♪ Equals 44 ♪

[man]
♪ Now, 12 x 4 is as high as we go ♪

[children] ♪ 12 x 4 equals 48 ♪

[man] ♪ But there were
so very, very many, many more ♪

♪ Animals standing there by the gate ♪

[all] ♪ That we'd have to use
a pencil if we counted them all ♪

♪ And we really had fun
and saw every one ♪

-♪ A bear ♪
-♪ A cougar ♪

-♪ A jackal ♪
-♪ A yak ♪

-♪ A fox ♪
-[all] ♪ Some deer and a sweet giraffe ♪

[man] ♪ And I can't remember
how many, many more ♪

[all] ♪ But we multiplied them all by 4 ♪

♪ And some of them thanked us
with a roar ♪
