-[birds chirping]

[Alice] Get your mouse. Come on, Dinah.

Here's your yarn. Come and get it.

-[meows softly]
-Dinah. I give up.

You're always sleepy.
You never wanna play.

You never seem to sleep, Goldie.

But how can anyone play with a fish?

I guess I'll just have to find
somebody else to play with.

[shimmering]

[theme music playing]

Rabbit, what are you doing?

[stammering] Bringing you your glass
of warm milk. I thought you'd be alone.

-I am alone. I'm rehearsing.
-Rehearsing?

Uh, yes, rehearsing. Practicing.

Practicing talking to yourself?

No. Practicing talking to him.

I never noticed this before,
but he reminds me of someone.

Oh, that's not important.

What is important is that tomorrow,
you and I are going to be on TV.

Oh...

-Have you been rehearsing?
-No, no. Why should I?

-Well, aren't you nervous?
-Nervous?

[chuckling] Why should I be nervous?

Because millions of eyes will be on you.

-Millions?
-Think of it.

Maybe trillions.

Trillions of eyes, all on you.

Why, most people would be so nervous,

they would probably blow a fuse
right on TV.

In front of millions
and trillions of eyes?

That's why I'm rehearsing.

[slurps then gulps]

I certainly don't wanna get on TV
and do anything that makes me look silly.

Oh, you would never do that,
your mustache-- Uh, your Majesty.

-Good night.
-Good night, Rabbit.

You better get a good night's sleep.

[sighs]

Millions and trillions.

[Red Queen] Think of it, maybe trillions.

Trillions of eyes, all on you.

[soft music playing]

[gasps]

Take your eyes off of me.

Oh...

Got to get some sleep.

[ticking]

[scratching]

Tomorrow is a busy day

There are plans I have to keep

I need my precious beauty rest

I must get to sleep

I wear my favorite jammies

As soft as Chinese silk

I can listen to some music

Have a warm glass of milk

[sighs]

When I close my eyes
I'll sing myself to sleep

And if that doesn't work

I'll resort to counting sheep

I'll drink some hot cocoa

Maybe watch late-night TV

Oh, no, I'll read
My favorite bedtime tales

And have some herbal tea

-[yells]

Good morning, Your Majesty.

Oh, good morning, Alice.

Are you gonna watch me on TV
this afternoon?

Oh, I wouldn't miss it.
I love to see Hugh B. Happy.

Oh, of course.

All my subjects want to see me happy.

Oh, you mean Hugh B. Happy.
The host of the show.

[snoring]

As I was saying--

[snoring continues]

[lively music playing]

Rabbit.

Oh, Rabbit.

Mm, um, oh, yes, bunny lips.

Rabbit, are you asleep?

[gasps] Oh, asleep? No, no.

Uh, my foot fell asleep
and the rest of me was just, uh...

playing along.

Rabbit, you've got to stay
on your toes today.

I'm counting on you to tell everyone
how wonderful it is to work for me.

I didn't sleep too well last night,

Your most well-rested Majesty.

If I could just take a little nap?

Nap? Excellent idea.

I command you to take a nap.

Oh, thank you.

But not yet.
First, you've got to find my shoes.

The ones that got me
on Mr. Redwell's best-dressed list.

I don't think I've ever seen those before,
Your Majesty.

-You haven't?
-But I'd like to see them very much.

You see, Rabbit?
My public demands those shoes.

Well, I'll-- I'll go and find them
right away, then.

And then I'll take the nap
you ordered, Your Majesty.

-Ah.
-Oh...

[slow whimsical music playing]

I hope this is the last shoe cabinet
I have to search.

She has so many.

[sighs]

[horn blows]

Shoe horn.

Slippers.

Flats.

Oh!

[gasps] Here they are!

I mean... here it is.

[indistinct conversation]

Your Majesty.

I have searched every inch
of every room in the palace.

And I can only find--

One shoe?

You only found one shoe?

You'd better start searching the inches
outside of the palace.

Oh...

If I could just catch 40 winks first.

[groans] Thirty winks?

How about 20?

Even one would be nice.

Rabbit, this is a state of emergency.
And you know what that means?

State of emergency.

-Oh, yes. We put up the flag.
-No!

No shoes, no snooze. Find that other shoe.

Yes, Your Majesty.

-I'll help you, Mr. Rabbit.
-Oh...

-Thank you, Alice.
-You go that way and I'll go this way.

I'm so tired.

Have either of you seen
the Queen's other shoe?

It looks like the rabbit's
asleep on his feet.

Hey.

-Rabbit.
-[snoring]

[both gasp]

-You better pull over.
-You're snoozing while you're cruising...

-You're cruising for a bruising.
-Have you seen the Queen's other shoe?

No. Hey, Rabbit, forget the shoe.

What about the show?

-Show?
-Yeah, the show.

[in British accent] You know,

Oh, I'll never be happy until I...

get some sleep.

[in normal voice] Sleep?
You can't sleep now.

Hello, Mr. Caterpillar.

We're looking for the Queen's
missing shoe. Have you seen it?

Wait, let me guess.

It's as red as an apple.

How did you know?

Oh, that's right.
All the Queen's shoes are red.

Wait. Mr. Rabbit can show us
what the other one looks like.

He has it with him. Mr. Rabbit?

[snorts] Mm?

Wha--? Oh, it's you, Alice. [chuckles]

You know, I had the strangest dream.

Yes. We were visiting the Caterpillar,
and he wanted to be fed an apple. [laughs]

Oh, we are visiting the Caterpillar.

Sorry, no apples.

-Here's the shoe, Mr. Caterpillar.
-Hm. Very stylish.

Good arch support.

But, no, I'm afraid
I haven't seen one like it.

[sighs]

[snoring]

I'm afraid he didn't sleep at all
last night.

He's scared about going on TV.
I'm trying to keep him awake.

I can help. I'll read a story.

After all, my stories never put anyone
to sleep.

That's a good idea.
Don't you think so, Mr. Rabbit?

-Oh, Mr. Rabbit.
-Hm? What?

Oh! Ooh...

Yes. Excellent. Best idea ever.
Whatever it is.

[Caterpillar] Once there was
a little monster named Morris

who couldn't fall asleep.

-[boy laughing]
-[gasps] Mommy, Mommy, I can't sleep.

[Caterpillar] So, the Monster Mommy
brought Morris a cup of warm milk

and tucked him back in bed.

-[gasps]
-He kept hearing strange noises.

Morris was afraid there might be a boy
under his bed.

-[boy laughing]
-[gasps]

Mommy, there is a boy under my bed.

It's just your imagination.
There's no such thing as a little boy.

[Caterpillar] Morris' mother comforted
her little monster.

[sighs]

[boy giggling]

Mommy, there is a boy under my bed.

[Caterpillar] And again,
his mother assured Morris

that it was just his imagination,

and he'd better go to sleep now.

But Morris knew there was a boy
under his bed.

-And sure enough, he was right.
-Hey.

[Caterpillar] The boy told Morris
he didn't want to eat him up.

-He just wanted to play.
-[both laughing]

-[Monster Mommy] Morris!
-[gasps]

What was that noise?

I didn't hear anything.

-[Caterpillar] From that night on,
-[both] Shh!

Morris was never again afraid
of a boy under his bed.

That was a wonderful story.
Don't you think so, Mr. Rabbit?

[snoring]

We're up here, Alice. Come on up.

The Queen has lost her shoe.
Can you help us find it?

How could anyone find anything in here?

My dear Rabbit,
you can find everything in here.

[Rabbit] "Tossed and found"?

Isn't that supposed
to be "lost and found"?

-We've never lost anything.
-Certainly not. It's the tossed and found.

We toss everything in here,
so we know exactly where to find it.

[clanking and crashing]

After all, you never know
when you might need something again.

[jaunty music playing]

This broken clock
It tells the right time twice a day

As for the rest, well, maybe not

But you never know, you never know

When you might need
That special kind of clock

Say it rains, but not very hard

Why carry a whole umbrella
When half will do the job?

That's why I always
I always plan ahead

See this suitcase?
You can see right through it

But this handle, what a handle
It's really fastened to it

You never know
When you might need an air cool case

I've got objects of mystery
Items worth a lot

Some have quite a history
Others, well, you never know

So, I'll hold on to them
Don't you know

The Queen's shoe is not here,
which means--

It wasn't tossed.

-And if it wasn't tossed--
-It can't be found.

[Rabbit snoring]

-[cuckoo clock chiming]
-Oh!

[gasps]

Look at the time. I'm late.
I've got to get back to the palace.

When I return to the Queen
with only one shoe,

she's going to be so angry.

[whimpers] Oh...

I'm so happy. [laughs]

But, Your Majesty,
I still have only one shoe.

Oh, that's fine.

-It is?
-Yes! [laughing]

Because I have the other one.

You do?

Yes, when I got dressed this morning,
I put on two different shoes. [laughs]

-And the shoe was here all the time?
-Yes.

Well, no harm done.

Well...

[mumbles]

Rabbit! We're due at the TV studio
in five minutes.

So, hop to it.

There we go. It's just starting.

a bit, uh... bashful.

Oh, yes, Hugh.

At times, he can be
quite the quiet cottontail.

Uh-oh. Don't tell me the Rabbit
didn't have time to take his nap.

The Rabbit didn't have time

I asked you not to tell me that.

Is it just me,

or does that talk-show host
look like somebody we know?

[both laughing]

Now, you were going to ask me
about my shoes.

You have to excuse the Rabbit.

This is his first time on TV. [laughing]

And probably his last.

Boy, the Queen looks like
she's about to blow a fuse.

Poor Mr. Rabbit.

But he's doing the best he can.

Maybe so, but I wouldn't wanna
be in his skates right now.

They probably wouldn't fit me anyway.

Hm. Rabbit's not wearing his skates today,
but as usual, he's on thin ice.

Uh...

-There's nothing wrong with the Rabbit?
-Not yet.

So, you wanted to know about my shoes.

The shoes. Oh, yes,
tell us about the shoes, please.

-Now, about my snooze-- Ah! I mean, shoes.
-Oh, yes, the shoes.

Let's see if we can come in real close
for a look.

Yes, you definitely look like
someone I know.

I just can't quite figure out who.

I can't either,
but he certainly is handsome.

Poor Mr. Rabbit.

I can't watch any more of this.

I know what you mean.

Rabbit is really coming off
like a dumb bunny.

Mr. Rabbit, as long as you're, uh, up,

I'd like to ask you the question
everybody wants to ask.

You're lucky enough to work so closely
with this lovely lady.

What would you say
is her very best quality?

Uh, yeah--

Her big, big mouth.

Heart! Her big heart.

-As I was saying, about my shoes--
-Hold on a minute, Your Majesty.

Forget about your shoes.

What I want to know is where you found
this crummy assistant of yours.

-What?
-Just between you and me,

your entre nous, as the French would say,

I've seen harder-working rabbit ears
on top of my television set.

[audience laughing]

-Why, of all the--!
-I mean, come on, now.

What were you thinking about
when you hired this fur ball?

Now, just hold your horses,
Mr. Hugh B. Happy!

He may be a little sleepy,
but he is still my right-hand Rabbit!

I should have known better
than to make the Rabbit

come on the show without getting his nap.

It's time to get off the TV show.

Well, that looks like all for today,
