Out of the blue of the western sky comes

Sky King. As we say

here in the west, Greach, partner.

Reach for Nabisco.

My partner! Reach for

Nabisco. The bright red

seal on the packaging Means

there's mighty good cookies inside, my

friend Yup, that famous Nabisco seal is

on all your favorite cookies. Creamy

Chocolatey Oreo Cream Sandwich. Yummy Fig

Newtons. Mouth-meltin' Lorna Doon.

Chiparoons, those great tastin' coconut

chocolate drop cookies, and many, many

others. So just remember, when it comes

to cookies, Reach for

Nabisco.

And now, Sky King.

Flying Crown Ranch. Yes?This is

McCarthy, the new Indian Affairs agent

over at the reservation. Jerry Tidwell

told me when I took over,that you'd be a

good man to call on if I ever get into a

jam. Well judging from the fact you've

called me at 4:00 in the morning, I'd say

you're in one now. Who?

Chief Lone Cloud. He's mighty sick and

our doctor's away for a couple of days.

Frank and I haven't been able to locate a

doctor anywhere near here. So I phoned

Doc Sawyer down at Grover. But I'm afraid

by the time he could drive up here, it

might be too late. Well suppose I fly him

up there. I sort of figured you'd make

that offer, so I told Doc Sawyer to head

for your place. You ought to be there by

the time you're ready to take off. It'll

be daylight in an hour. We'll be there

around six. Thanks.

I hope the old chief has mellowed a

little. I was up there some time ago, and

he wouldn't have anything to do with me.

Oh, golly. Doctor, do you do

you think the chief is dying?I hope not.

Well, if he is, you're going to have to

tell him becauseIf he

is dying, he has to tell a secret.

You mean that old story about the hidden

treasure?Do you believe that young guy?

All I know is that when his tribe has a

bad year, crops fail, sheep gets sick,

those Indians turn up with a lot of gold.

And I've heard it's been like that for

years and years. Why, even before Chief

Long Cod was born. That's right. They say

the secret's been passed along from chief

to chief for over 100 years. Yeah, the

old boy's son was k*lled in Korea. So I

guess his grandson's next in line.

Yes, Frank is the one to inherit the

secret. And the danger.

Over the years, many people have been

willing to k*ll for the secret of that

treasure. How

much money you figure they got hit out?

Not so we won't ever have to worry about

anything for the rest of our lives,

believe me. They might not even let you

in to see them. Sure they will. I've been

trading with those Indians for years. I'm

their friend. Being a friend don't mean

the chief isn't going to tell you where

it is. Of course not. Before he

dies, he's got to tell somebody. I aim to

be there when he does.

Hello, Frank. Hello, Frank. Oh,

we're so sorry to hear about Lone Cloud.

You know, Dr. Sawyer, Frank. Certainly,

yeah. Nice to see you, Frank. Sure was

nice of you to fly up here. He may be a

little better. It's It's hard to tell.

Well, let's have a look, uhWe'll wait

here. If there's any better way. Yeah,

I'll let you know.

I not asked for you. No, boy, I'm going

on the warpath yet. I haven't even looked

you over.

I do not need you.

I am going to die. You just relax

and behave yourself, Lone Cloud.

Sky.

Chief Lone Cloud, my heart is sad that

evil spirits cross your path. It is

not evil spirits, old friend.

It is wind of time. My

time is here. don't

talk like that

it'd make me happy little yellow

hair come say goodbye will

he die probably if we don't get him out

of here stand a good chance if I could

get him to a hospital they know he won't

go still doesn't trust the white man's

medicine it's about the size of it

Sky, Sky King

The hours are few. I must

go Eagle Peak. Will

you help me?You're in no

condition to go mountain climbing.

Every chief of my tribe will

not die in battle. Go Eagle

Peak to die. My

time is near, but

spirit strong. I

go Eagle Peak. She blown

cloud. you listen to me

your people love you but if

you stay here you'll die that

would be a great sorrow for

them man does not choose time of death

you choose him a man may also choose to

live if you go with us to our hospital

we'll make you well police chief

you've got to tryShe's right,

Grandfather.

I go. Well,

looks like I'm just in time. Had to come

home from college, huh, Frank?Yes, Mr.

Beck. I rushed right over as soon as I

heard you were sick, Chief. Figured maybe

I could help. Put him right in my truck,

Frank. Thanks for the offer, Beck, but

the Chief's coming with us in the

songbird. I didn't know you were here,

King. I'm sure that King means well,

Chief Lone Cloud, but I don't think high

altitudes will do you any good. I'm sure

you mean well, Beck, but the doc's

already okayed the flight. Everything's

under control. Come on, Chief.

you have a visitor chief you're getting

to be a regular customer oh we're old

friends the chief and I don't stay too

long visiting hours are up in 15 minutes

sure I'll just cheer him up a little bit

ohh how you feeling tonight chiefWhite

man's medicine doing you any good?I

cannot tell. They give me bad

tasting medicine. Put

needle in arm. Yeah,

pills and shots and you're still in bed,

a long way from your own land.

You'd be better off back in your

reservation. I don't like to say

this, but did you ever think of what

would happen if you took a turn for the

worse?I think of

nothing else. Sure, it's only natural

that you should worry about what would

happen if you were to die before you had

a chance to tell anyone your tribal

secret. It

is written in the stars, I tell

only the son of my son. Well, that's just

it. How could you tell, Frank? He's back

at the reservation.

I... I go back

to reservation. Now, hold on now. You

just can't walk out of here. They

wouldn't let you. But, uh,

if you really want to leave,

I'll go out past the reception desk so

they'll see me leaving. Then I'll double

back through the firescape door and get

you.

Sure, sure, we're gonna take you to

Frank. But I've been wondering if it'd be

smart to ride right onto the reservation.

You know, I think you got something

there, Beck. That Indian agent had to

take the chief right back to the

hospital. Maybe you know of some good

hiding place.

Take me Eagle Peak,

then tell Frank meet me there.

Find me near Bubbling Spring.

I've never heard of any Bubbling Springs

up there. Frank will know.

It's after visiting hours. I know, I'm

sorry we're late. The Chief enjoys seeing

you, so I promise not to look at the

clock if you'll promise only to stay a

few minutes. I'll see if

he can speak. He's gone!

Nurse, may I use your phone?Certainly.

So the last visit that the Chief had was

back, huhI'm gonna need some help in

trying to find him, Mr. King. I've

already called the sheriff. He's having

the roads watched. But you better tell

Frank just in case they slip through on a

back road. Right. I'll get hold of Frank

and we'll do what we can. Now the only

thing we have to go on is the fact that

the chief wanted to be taken to Eagle

Peak, remember?I'm quite sure Beck would

be more than happy to take Lone Cloud to

the spot where all the tribal chiefs go

to die. I'll drive back to the ranch as

soon as I can, get the songbird and meet

you at the reservation. We'll start the

search there. Right. I'll see you there.

this the only road in here? Many

trails. Only one road. How much further?

Not far.

I have some fallen logs. Come on, we'll

clear them away.

He's gone! What do you mean, gone?

Well, you sure couldn't have gone far

from... Hoss?Look,

there's someone I've been waiting here

for. It must have been Frank. They called

him from the hospital. What do you think

Frank have to take him?Uh, there's no way

I know it. You start scouting around as

soon as it gets light.

Hi, boys. Hello, Mr. King. Hello, Mac.

Any luck? Not a sign of Mr. King, not even

a feather. Where's Frank?I don't know.

His jeep's here, but I haven't been able

to find him any place. Maybe we could

organize a searching party with ourselves

and me. I already thought of that. They

won't interfere with tribal customs. If

their chief wants to go up someplace and

die, they won't lift a finger. We've

gotta find him and get him back to the

hospital. I know, you think he was headed

for Eagle Peak. Like I said before, it's

a mighty big mountain. Maybe I could spot

him from the air. I sure hope you find

him. I've got to, before Beck

does.

Like Mr. McCarthy said, it's a big

mountain. It sure is. I only hope

Frank has found the chief and and he's

hiding him somewhere. So do I.

Grandfather, I... I know

how you feel, but I've got to ask you

once more. Please let me take you back to

the hospital. Speak no more of

white man's medicine. The

hour of cold wind is near.

White man cannot stop cold wind.

Son of my son,It is time to tell

you of shining treasure,

to be used only when our people are in

trouble. Remember,

wise man buys time.

Yes, I'll remember.

Sunshadow, point to Eagle Peak.

We go now, son of my son.

I'll get the horses, grandpa.

Hello, Chief.

Beth. That's right, Lone Cloud. I've come

to visit you again. Only we haven't got

time to fool around now. Where's the

treasure?

You pretend to befriend. The pretending

is over. Where is it?I'll go get Frank.

He'll be back. He won't leave you, old

man. Now look here, chief. If

you don't want anything to happen to

Frank, you better see things our way.

This is the way I see things.

I can't help you this time.

Sky, look. Look over there. Smoke?

Well, it looks like like Indian signals.

See the puffs? You're right. Let's go down

for a closer look.

Where's the treasure?Where's the treasure?

There's a smoke signal. That's Frank.

Stop it. Get back here.

Put out that fire!

I gotta have a new science, you have it.

Come on, let's get out of here. Come on,

get him!

Let's get out of here. There's a forest

fire. Now which way's the treasure?Don't

tell him. Shut up. We buy time. Huh

I'll lead you to treasure. And now you're

getting smart.

That fire's getting closer. So's all that

gold. Bit better, bait.

All I can see down there is heavy smoke

and it's getting worse. Well, it really

is a forest fire.

Songbird calling Deep Canyon Ranger

Station. Songbird calling Deep Canyon

Ranger Station. Come in, please. This

is Deep Canyon Ranger Station. Go ahead,

Scott. Fred, heavy smoke on the

east slope of Eagle Peak. This could be a

bad one, over. That's a long haul for us,

but we'll get over there just as fast as

we can. Over and out. Roger, songbird

out. I wish that

ranger station were 20 miles closer. With

those smoke signals, Frank or the chief

have to be down there. I'm afraid so.

We'll get down as low as we can and try

to spot them.

In there. I don't see anything. A

cave behind Brush. Keep 'em covered.

all right?Okay, you first. Get caught. All

right, where is it?

Behind those rocks. Help me, Frank.

You heard him.

Come on.

There's a skull. A new ghost so far.

Maybe it's under the skull.

Oh, let me see.

Is there any more?Plenty more! Look!

Well, come on, hurry. Let's get it off.

Well, come on. How much

more is there?Plenty, I

said.

I don't understand. What happened?

It must have been the hand of fate. It

was the hand of your

great-great-grandfather. He built traps

for anyone who tried to steal treasure of

our tribe. Fire is

getting closer. Leave me, Frank. Save

yourself. No, no, it'll be easier going

down. Look, maybe we can get thisThe

fire hasn't started there yet. Come on.

Still no sign of him. I wonder if Fred's

having any better luck.

Songbird to Deep Canyon portable unit

number three. Songbird to Deep Canyon

portable unit number three. Are you

there, Fred?I hear you,

Sky. Any sign of Frank or the Chief down

your way?Not a sign of either one of

them. And brother, do we have our hands

full? How does that fire look from up

there?Looks better when you boys have

been working on it, but it's beginning to

move pretty fast on the south slope

toward Sheepman's Meadow.

Fred, Frank and the Chief, Sheepman's

Meadow. You've got to get up there. We

can't get up there. The fire's between

the meadow and us. Isn't there any place

where we could possibly land? No, Sky, no,

you can't land on that meadow. There

isn't room. While the fire's heading that

land, you'll be burned to a crest. Penny,

there's a slim chance we can get into

that meadow, and an even slimmer chance

that we can get off again. That doesn't

seem like such bad art.

Okay, here we go.

Frank, I'm still chief

of the track. I order you to go on the

load. But there's no place to go,

Grandfather. We're surrounded by a ring

of fire.

You are the only one left.

The last one to know the secret of the

treasure.

When our people run into troubled times,

they will have nothing to turn to.

Grandfather, Sky King is going to land.

Come, Grandfather.

There they are! Frank, this way!

Hurry! Come

on!

Did he make it?Hurry up.

Quickly, Frank! All

right, Penny, lock it up.

Sky King, come in. Sky, why don't you

answer?Been trying to call me,

Fred?I sure have.

I've got Frank and the Chief in the plane

with me. We're in the air. Well, that's

just great. That's great. How are they?A

little worse for wear, but I don't think

the excitement did the Chief any harm.

But just in case, Fred, you better have

Doc Sawyer meet us at the Grover Airport.

Sure. Oh, we'll need to organize a posse

to climb Eagle Peak. There's a couple of

gentlemen up there, uh, trapped in a

cave. Roger. Anything else you'll be

needing?Yes, a can of paint. I

think the songbird singed her tail a

little. Oh, sky.

Songbird out.

Tune in again next week. Remember,

Reach for Nabisco.

My partner! Reach for

Nabisco. The bright red

seal on the packaging. Means

there's mighty good cookies inside. My

friend.
