[Harmon] Previously,

on On Call

What happened to your sister?

You said she was a cop.

She was injured in

the line of duty.

I just wanted to let you know

that the sheriff was walking

around here the other day.

What's going on

with your brother?

- Gabriel has a hit on his head.

- [Diaz] Over what we did

[Harmon gasps]

for grabbing Maniac.

I need to talk to

your guy, El Toro.

- They want to k*ll my brother.

- We're not going back to Smokey's.

So, you need to

find another angle.

[sirens]

[shouting]

- Hey!

- Hey! Hey! Calm down!

- [man] I'm gonna f*ck your sh*t up!

- Hey!

- [man] Look what you did!

- Hey! Back it up!

Back it up, okay? Back

it up! What happened?

This little sh*t's been racing

up and down the street all day

making g*dd*mn TikTok videos.

- I wasn't speeding.

- Oh, back up!

Let him finish.

I told him he was gonna k*ll

someone and now he hit her!

- Her?!

- I didn't f*cking see her!

'Cause you were going

100 miles an hour!

- Hey!

- Whoa, back up! To the curb!

Diaz, cuff him!

- Wait, what? I didn't do anything!

- Turn around!

- You should be cuffing him!

- Turn around!

[Harmon] Step back, step back.

[dog whining]

Call Animal Control, now!

- [dog whimpering]

- [sirens approaching]

Who does she belong to?

[woman] She's a stray. Shows

up around here all the time.

[Harmon whispers] Good girl.

[car approaches]

[police radio chatter]

- [door closes]

- What do we got, Diaz?

These two were

about to go at it.

This one was racing up and

down the street in the Eclipse.

He hit a dog and was just

gonna leave it there.

I called Animal Control, but

they're they're backed up.

sh*t was an accident. Can you

get the cuffs off of me, man?

Sit there and shut up.

They're always backed up. It's

only one car for three cities.

Sir, do me a favor, go

back to the sidewalk.

You, do not move.

Want some water?

[whining]

- It's okay. Shh, shh.

- [dog whimpering]

Harmon?

So, we got any witnesses

that saw the kid hit the dog?

- [Diaz] No.

- Nobody other than the big guy.

It's he said, he said.

[dog crying]

Where the f*ck is

Animal Control?

Said they're about

two hours out.

Look, we're, um We're gonna

have to handle this ourselves.

[sighs] Fine. Let's just get her in my

cruiser, I'll find an animal hospital.

Harmon. Harmon! Look at her.

She's not gonna make a ride.

So, what do you want to do?

No!

Look, I get it. It's the

humane thing to do though.

Wait, you guys are

saying that we sh

We can dispatch an animal

when they're suffering.

- But she can still make it.

- No, she can't.

f*ck it. Report me. I'm

putting her in my car.

[Lasman] Harmon. Harmon!

- All right, come on. Come on, girl.

- [barks]

[dog whining]

- [dog barking]

- [Lasman] Traci!

You're just hurting her more.

I can't.

You don't have to.

You guys, clear

these people out. Go.

Everybody, get inside

of your homes. Come on.

Ma'am, go back inside your house. Make

sure that the kids don't see this.

Okay.

Sir, could you step back?

[dog continues whining]

Hey, girl. Hey,

puppy. It's okay.

I'm assuming we've got nothing

to arrest shithead for.

No. Nothing that'll stick.

- [dog whining]

- It's okay. It's okay.

I got you.

It's okay, I got you.

[sighs]

[g*nsh*t]

[indistinct radio chatter]

Noise complaint. Looks

like it's in Naples Island.

Low priority.

Yeah?

Probably just some rich

as*h*le throwing a party.

We don't have enough units

out here already. Hard pass.

[Diaz] Okay.

Hey, look, um I want to apologize

for what I said last shift.

Forget it.

No, no, I was I

was way out of line.

Plus, I never really

believed that stuff.

Man, that bullshit's been

haunting me since it happened.

And you were gonna hear about

it one way or another, so

[phone buzzing]

Your mom?

[sighing] Yeah.

What's going on

with your brother?

It's not your

problem, all right.

What happened?

He was jumped in

the yard yesterday.

Apparently, it was

like three guys.

You know, COs, they

broke it up, but yeah.

Why didn't you tell me?

For what? There's

nothing you can do.

We can get him into

protective custody.

I promised him that

I wouldn't do that.

That's more important to

you than saving his life?

I gave him my word. All

right? I can't break that.

Not after all the sh*t

he's been through.

I've seen enough death today.

- [tires squealing]

- Whoa, whoa, whoa!

- Where the hell we going?

- To go see Smokey.

I thought you said

that bridge was burned.

Yeah, well, maybe we can

find a miracle in the ashes.

Charlie-85, show us at 115

Noretta Place for a bar check.

- [dispatcher] Copy, Charlie-85.

- What's the move?

I talk. You keep your eyes open.

No matter what,

you do not pop off.

You got some titanium ba*ls

showing up here, lady.

I need to see Smokey.

Nah.

How's your brother, little homie?

Heard he got all jammed up.

Walking the main line in the

piñta can be dangerous, huh.

[passing truck horn]

Yo, what the f*ck?!

Yo, b*tch, I told you,

you're not gonna see him!

[whistles] It's

okay. Let her in.

[easy Mexican folk

music playing]

What's with all the muscle?

Take a guess.

You didn't give up Maniac?

Why should the bosses

come down on you?

I got a nephew about your age,

just got on with La Mesa PD.

It's más chingon,

especially these days.

Why my brother? He's got

nothing to do with anything.

Mano, you grew up

around this sh*t.

You know the rules.

What do we gotta

do to call it off?

The 211 Outlaws

they've been a pain in my

a*s over on the South Side.

Maybe some cases fall on 'em?

Come on, Smokey, that

sh*t ain't happening.

I've always been

above board with you.

I guess your brother's

sh*t out of luck.

I swear to f*cking God,

if you touch my brother!

Cálmate, calma.

Sit down, sit down.

I put Maniac in cuffs. It was my

call. I am the one that you want.

It's more fun making you watch.

Let's go.

Heard guys up in Corcoran

were a little embarrassed

things didn't end differently.

They won't miss twice.

[intense ambient music]

Were you trying to get us k*lled?

I told you not to pop off!

Yeah, well, f*ck him, okay?!

You heard what he said.

Call your brother,

see if he's all right.

- I can't.

- Call him!

I can't! Okay, I can't!

They confiscated his phone when

they f*ck' jumped him, man.

f*ck!

Oh, God, it's just

wait and see now.

[on radio] Any unit to respond

Code Three to a possible overdose

of three people at

5436 Ravenna Drive.

That's where the noise

complaint came from.

[siren blaring]

[music thumping]

[tires squeal]

Got the med kit?

[party noise]

'Bout time. I called hours ago!

They've been blasting

that sh*t all day!

[woman laughing] Woo!

[Harmon] Long Beach PD!

Long Beach Police!

Long Beach Police!

- [music thumping]

- [people laughing]

[girl] Please, help them.

[Harmon] What's your name?

Misty.

[Harmon] Charlie-85 requesting

additional units for crowd control.

Misty, do me a favor. Get

somebody to k*ll this music.

Okay. Um

- [Harmon] What'd they take?

- [Misty] Um, coke.

It must have been laced, I

think. It's right over there.

[Harmon] Nobody touch that.

Charlie-85, we've got three juveniles,

possible overdose, non-responsive.

Send me paramedics now. Narcan.

[dispatcher on radio] Copy.

[Misty] Oh, my

God, oh, my God

[sprays]

- [sprays]

- [Misty] Please, please

Hey, come on. Come on. Come on!

Come on. Come on.

- [gasps, coughs]

- [Diaz] That's it.

- [screaming]

- [Diaz] Hey! Hey!

Easy, easy, easy. Hey. Easy.

It's just some bad sh*t. Okay?

Okay, breathe. Hey, breathe.

Breathe, in, out, in, out. Atta boy.

- That's it.

- Charlie-85, we've got three overdoses.

Two non-responsive. How

far out are paramedics?

[dispatcher on radio]

Paramedics are arriving now.

Oh, my God! That's my sister!

f*ck!

No, no, you've gotta wait between

doses. At least three minutes.

Check her pulse.

[boy] Wake up!

Please, wake up!

- [Diaz] f*ck, no pulse.

- [Harmon] Start CPR.

[boy] Wake up!

Please, wake up!

[Harmon] Somebody, turn

the f*cking music off!

[Barlowe] Clear a path!

Get 'em out of here!

- We just Narcan'ed them.

- [medic] Copy that.

- Stay on compressions. Stay on the chest.

- [music stops]

- I'll take over.

- You got her?

Yeah.

- [medic] What'd she take?

- [Diaz] Uh, coke.

Come on, get out of here.

Out, out, out! Let's go!

- [medic] One dose Narcan?

- Yeah, just one, about a minute ago.

- [medic 2] You got room?

- [medic] Yep. Back up.

- Clear.

- [thumps]

[crying]

[medic] Come on. Come on.

[gasping]

I know. You're gonna be okay.

Hey, you good? Just

breathe, breathe in.

- Breathe in. You're good. You're okay.

- [gasping]

- Clear.

- [thumps]

Please, God, please,

let her be okay.

- What's her name?

- [boy] Aubree.

Aubree, stay with us.

[medic] Come on! Come on!

Only got one more try left.

[paddles charging]

- Clear!

- [thumps]

We got a pulse. Get the stretcher in here.

We gotta get her to the ER, right now!

Whose house is this?

You and me. Let's go.

[Diaz] Hey, let them

work, okay? Step back.

[Harmon] Miss, give

us a minute, please.

Where are your parents?

In Palm Springs.

Do they know that

you're having a party?

- No.

- Where'd the drugs come from?

- I don't know.

- [Harmon] You don't know?

I swear, somebody

else brought them.

Call your parents. Now.

Uh, I-I don't have my phone.

- [Harmon] Well, where is it?

- Downstairs.

There's a Louis

Vuitton case on it.

There's a Louis f*cking

Vuitton case? Great.

Avery, hey. Go downstairs with

him, make sure he finds his phone

and calls his parents.

Get them down here now.

Come on, follow me.

- Thanks, guys.

- Of course.

Hey. She's your sister?

Yeah. I, I should go with her.

You're supposed to be

looking out for her.

- I f*cked up, I don't know

- [Harmon] You f*cked up?

She could be dead!

[police radio chatter]

I need her to be okay.

Is she gonna be okay?

Just go be with her. Go. Make sure

you get in the ambulance, okay?

And make sure you call your

parents from the hospital.

f*ck

[indistinct radio chatter]

I don't know what you

guys did before Narcan.

Hope and prayed EMS

showed up before we did.

Hey, I need a favor.

Can you wrap this up?

Sure. You good?

Yeah. Hey, we gotta roll.

[Diaz] Yep.

Where we going?

Welfare check.

[overlapping chatter]

[Diaz] Welfare

check at the beach?

You gonna tell me

what's going on?

I told you my sister was a cop.

She was injured in the

line of duty, right?

[Diaz] Mm-hmm.

Yeah, well, an injury wasn't

what ended her career, per se.

She was prescribed Oxy. And

then, when that wasn't enough,

it was heroin and whatever else

she could get her hands on.

Six months, she went from patrolling

the streets to living on them.

Jen was everything to me.

She surfed, I surfed. She

became a cop, I followed.

And she's out here?

Hey! I'm looking for

Jen. You know her?

Who?

The Sheriff.

[laughs]

Over there. Past the bathroom.

[man laughs]

[dog barks]

- You want me to go with?

- No, I'm gonna be quick.

[woman] they think

that we're blind

but we see exactly

what they're doing

pulling at our brains

I know you feel this.

It's more than like a metaphor.

I want you to trust when it

- [man] Hey, Sheriff.

- [Jen] What?

Don't worry. It's

just my little sister.

I need to talk to you.

It's okay.

[ship horn blows]

[scoffs]

It's time for you

to come home, Jen.

Yeah, mom kicked me out.

Because you stole from her.

She wants you back.

She's worried.

[train whistle

blows in distance]

What about you? Will

you want me back?

Hm.

You know what? I'm fine.

I'm just hanging

here with my friends.

- Your friends?

- [Jen] Yes.

There's Cosmo (raises

voice) and Mandy

- Let's just go.

- and Elroy No, I am staying!

You never once apologized for

all the sh*t you put us through!

What sh*t?

I had to buy mom a wedding ring,

to replace the one that you pawned!

- Allegedly, allegedly

- Let's just f*cking go!

I said no!

Then I am going to arrest you!

- Okay. Okay.

- All right?

Before we go

I gotta tell you something.

What?

Chicken butt! [laughs]

Oh! You were serious! [laughs]

I'm not gonna be the one who tells

mom you OD'd on some beach, all right?

[laughing] Ow, ow!

If you going to jail means

getting clean, then so be it!

What are you doing?

I, uh I-I saw that there were

people here, so I just thought you

- might need some back-up.

- Search her.

- Are you Are you sure?

- [Harmon] Do it!

[Jen] You can't do this!

I am the f*cking

Sheriff out here!

- Hey!

- Turn around, please.

Be careful with that!

Hey.

- Is she clean?

- Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, no drugs

Just, um just this.

Can I say something?

I am the f*cking Sheriff!

No.

I'm the Sheriff

There is a better

solution to this.

You don't know the history here.

Look, I get it, all right. There's

There's a lot about today we can't change.

But this this is a choice.

So, you're going to criticize

my decision making now?

No, I'm just telling you

that this is not the answer.

Okay, yeah. So, you

know what's best.

I know what jail does

to families, okay?

I don't know. Everywhere that

we take her to get clean,

she escapes. She's

like a f*ck' Houdini.

I I know somewhere where

she won't be able to get away.

All right. It's

safe and not far.

Just trust me.

[indistinct chatter

with Diaz and women]

Hey, yeah, it's

cool. She can stay.

What is this place?

It's a safe house.

Yeah, me and my brother

used to take my mom here

after her boyfriend

knocked her around.

They, they help

women get clean, too.

Nobody goes in or out

until they're supposed to.

All right.

Come on. Got you a place.

Wait.

[keys rattling]

You just gonna leave me here?

I'll check in on you.

You promise?

[handcuffs clinking]

Come on.

[woman] Come on

inside. You'll be okay.

Can I, um Can

I have a minute?

Yeah, of course.

Look I know what

this means to you.

So, I'm gonna hold onto

it until you get out.

[crying, sniffles]

You do that.

[sniffles]

[crying]

Hey, I had an idea

about your brother.

We move him.

No, I don't mean into protective

custody, I mean, to a different facility.

You You can do that?

Yeah, I could try

cashing in a favor.

Where to?

Somewhere East Barrio

doesn't have reach.

Come on. Coffee's on me.

Next, on On Call

- I went to see Smokey.

- And?

And the bosses are pissed at

him for not protecting Maniac.

- [woman groans]

- You need to talk to us.

That's what started this sh*t!

Then help me end it!

I got a better angle.

Stage Two tactical alert. We go

full court press on East Barrio.

We serve warrants on every documented

member in the neighborhood.

They want to fight each other,

let 'em do it in our lockup.

[closing theme music playing]
