-So I think she's referencing me.
-I need you to tell me everything.

With Dave, I'm frustrated
that he's saying that he wants to continue

figuring things out,
but then, like, he leaves.

He was like, "I'm gonna go continue
to spend time with my friends,"

and, like, I'm the one
that's not ready for marriage?

Last night, he texted me
at three in the morning,

saying he was gonna stay at his apartment

and that we can
hopefully figure things out tomorrow.

[woman] Have you heard from him?

No, not since that.

[exhales]

Texted him this morning and it was green,
so I assumed his phone was off.

[sniffles]

I love him, and I want
to figure this relationship out with him.

[sniffles] I'm emotional
because I've never felt like this,

and I've never wanted this
to work with someone

to this capacity,
like, at this level. [sniffles]

I feel like we can get there.

How'd you sleep?

Not great.

-I'm not surprised, but…

It was hard to not have you here
and hard to not have you, like, come back.

But we've talked about
different ways of problem-solving stuff.

And, like, it's fine that we have
different approaches to that.

This conversation is more telling for me

than, like, how we wanna
problem-solve in the moment.

What'd you guys do?

I just went
and got drinks with my friend at…

we were at Nolo's for a sec.

-It was fun.
-Good.

It was very hard though.

It was very hard to,
like, even enjoy anything.

[Lauren] Yeah.

So that was tough, but…

Yeah. How is it already two o'clock?
The day just…

I fell back asleep
from, like, nine to 11:30.

-[chuckles] And that's when my phone died.
-Yeah.

I woke up and was like,
"sh*t. I hope it's only ten."

-Yeah.
-And it was not.

And my car was downtown,
so I had to get an Uber to my car.

-And then drive it back over here.
-Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Sorry, what bar did you guys say
you were going to last night?

-That I went to? I was at Nolo's.
-[Lauren] Yeah.

-And then?
-For a little bit, and then we went to…

-Basement Bar.
-And then ran into some pod people?

[Dave] Mm-hmm.

-They were all there, yeah.
-Oh my God.

-I don't know who was all there.
-Yeah.

I don't wanna throw everyone
on the spot, but yeah, it was like…

"Molly's here. Do you wanna go meet her?"
I was just like, "No."

-Yeah.
-Absolutely not.

That would be
the dumbest thing ever. [chuckles]

To even say hi,
like, that would just be stupid.

Especially in the state
you were in last night.

My parents are like,
"I don't wanna see you get hurt."

-Mm-hmm.
-And so seeing me last night was hard.

-Wait, you saw them last night?
-Yeah.

-I didn't know you saw them last night.
-Yeah.

The only thing they knew was you were
with your friends. I was with them.

They came into town, they were like,
"Are we gonna see you on Friday?"

And I was like, "No,"
because I was prioritizing your friends.

This is the biggest decision
we will make in our lives.

This is…

Every other part of our life beyond this
depends on this decision.

And my parents wanna meet you
and, like, be part of this.

Yeah.

What about you?

The thing I think about the most

when I'm thinking about
meeting them for the first time is

I know they're gonna talk to us
and wanna ask us about,

"Why can't you just, like,
move on from this whole situation?"

I've been thinking about how
I'm gonna answer that, and I have no idea.

I'm obviously in this experience with you
because I, like, want to be with you.

I think the easy answer would be
we just wanna be together.

Yeah, so my sister
is a photographer, by trade.

She does all sorts of photo shoots.

She offered to give us, as a gift,

an engagement photo sh**t with Joey and I,
so that was really nice.

-Have you had professional photos before?
-[Joey] No.

-Never? Oh my God!
-No, never. Yeah.

Is this gonna be the last one?

I've talked to Nicolle several times

since the first family meeting with Joey.

And at first, I was,
like, pretty angry with her.

Good job, guys.

But Joey's becoming a very prominent,
important person in my life,

so they need to get along,
and they need to be friends

and, like, have a good relationship.

That's just how it needs
to be, period. [laughs]

When I brought Joey home,
you were, like, skeptical.

And I feel like
you didn't give him a fair shake.

Yeah.

Me spending all this time
getting to know him

and knowing he's amazing
and his backstory.

And he's just kind, and he didn't--

-Thank you.
-Well, yeah!

[laughs] Granted, you haven't seen me,
the family hasn't seen me in over a month,

and then I show up with a fiancé.

-[Nicolle] Yes.
-It's shocking.

So I get that, but also,

I feel like you were quick to judge.

-Yeah.
-That was frustrating to me.

You come home with this random dude.

It almost just felt
like you were strangers.

-Because you were a stranger to me.
-Oh, absolutely.

I just had my heart on my sleeve,
and I was not that nice, so I'm sorry.

-[chuckles] I appreciate the apology.
-You did nothing wrong.

This experiment, it's unlike anything,
obviously, that you have experienced.

-Yes.
-[Monica] That we've ever experienced.

And just know that my intentions
are always going to be pure, regardless.

Totally.

Besides the experiment,
was there anything about me specifically

that you were concerned
or didn't have a good impression about?

Um, my only thing was just energy levels.
You have a ton of energy.

-I love that for you.
-[Joey] I do.

-[laughing]

And we're nappers.

-The Danús women are nappers.
-[Monica] We are nappers.

And just because I have a lot of energy
does not mean I am…

I am a very serious

and, like, I have a lot
of intelligent conversation.

[Monica] And just because I'm a napper,
it doesn't mean

I can't go wanna do things.

-And have fun and have energy.

I can't help but be protective of you.

-And it comes off harsh sometimes.

[Monica] I know,
but through this experiment,

I've learned so much about myself

and so much about my past

and what I want and who I am.

-[Monica] I mean, I'm happy.

I'm not just blindly going into a marriage

just for the sake
of going into a marriage.

-Regardless.
-That's comforting to hear.

[Joey] Yeah, and I told her
from the beginning, I'm like,

unless I'm 100%, I'm not gonna fake that.

[Monica] I'm the same.

I'm just trying to, you know,
protect you, but you're a grown-up.

And seeing you guys interact today
with the photo sh**t,

it's like, I see it now.

I see you guys like each other.

And I can always tell

when somebody really likes
the other person during photo shoots,

because I'm giving you guys direction,
and you're not even hearing me.

You're so caught up in your
own little, like, flirtatious sh*t.

-So, yeah, that was cute to see.

I definitely thought in the beginning,
it was a little bit phony.

When I first met Joey,
he was just on, very on.

And I was like,
"Hmm. Is this guy for real?"

"Like, is he always like this?"

And if so, "Chill out."

But now that we've had the photo sh**t,

I think he's super kind, super authentic.

I think that they are
romantically into each other.

They're, like, so in love or something.

I don't know. They're very caught up.

I really like Joey.

And I can see him
becoming part of our family.

-I know what I want, and I'll be okay.

Honestly, it's inevitable.

People are gonna talk about the people
they know on the show

and things like that.

I'm just, like, confused as
to why it's such a big deal for her.

And obviously, I know I've grown
as a person since this was a thing.

I know who I am as a person.

The people that know me and care for me,

they know me.

They're not questioning my character.

It's annoying that someone's
putting this stuff out there

for people that don't know me,
giving them this opinion about me

before I even have a chance
to, like, show them who I am.

Literally, the only thing that is
in my head

or that I'm worried about is us
and it affecting how you view me.

I don't want this to be something
that's hovering over us, affecting our,

like, growth in our relationship
to the point where we get to the wedding,

and we're like, this took up so much time

I wasn't able to feel okay enough
to say yes at the altar.

That's something that
that would be the only fear.

I think you said that really well.

I don't know. I'm just, like…

I'm very, like, protective of myself,
but also of you.

-I'm not discrediting her.

The other thing that bothers me

was this was such an insignificant moment
in my history

and was so long ago
that I didn't even think to bring it up.

we've ever been on kind of thing.

There's always going to be something
that we're not proud of.

-This is exciting, and it's a little wild.

I have a million questions,

I really connected strongly with Virginia,

and I feel like we aligned
on a lot of our values.

She was big into her faith, and that's
something I really cared about as well.

Another thing that we had in common
is that we really want kids in our lives.

We want to raise a family.

I feel like Virginia
has such a pure heart.

She's such a good person.
We bonded over wanting to help people.

What do you do?

I'm a program director
for a youth sports company,

and then I coach high school basketball.

-I work with kids. I'm a teacher.
-[Devin] Awesome.

People that like kids and dogs are okay.

[laughing]

I like to think I'm okay. [laughs]

So… Virginia.

[laughing]

So there's this little thing
called commitment.

What is commitment to you?

A commitment of marriage

is really something
that we're taking very seriously.

It's something that we've talked about.
I think it's fighting for us.

Us fighting to be together.

I think we just commit
to working things out forever.

Commitment is everything to me.
It's what I've seen my whole life.

My parents have been married for 34 years.

My sister's been married
for over ten years,

and my grandparents
have been married a long time.

So I've seen what it takes
to be together for a long time,

and I think communication
is the biggest aspect in that.

We're not gonna love
everything about each other all the time.

And as we grow and get older,
not only are we gonna change as a couple.

We're gonna change as people.

I'm not the same person I was
ten years ago.

And I'm sure Virginia is not the same
as she was.

So what if you change and you change?

I think we should
expect each other to change.

I think it would be
a bad thing if we didn't change.

I think going into marriage,
you expect to grow with somebody.

Right. Also putting your partner first.
Making sure that everything I--

-You just want me to smile, don't you?

Honestly, everything I wanna do is
to make her happy.

When I proposed to her,
I vowed to make sure you feel valued

and worthy of love, because you do.

This one can be stubborn sometime.

What do you-- [laughs]

-Sounds like my parents.
-[laughing]

I'm opinionated.

I don't know how stubborn I am

because I do listen
to other people's standpoints.

You absolutely do.

And I'm, like, willing
to change my mind about things

based off of how other people feel.

I'm not rigid.

-But I will argue my point.
-Yeah.

Is it okay to argue?

-It's okay to have differing opinions.
-Yeah.

Remembering that we're on the same team
and working together to figure things out,

I think that's most important.

And I think that it should be more
of a conversation than an argument.

We should be able to sit down as adults

and talk to each other
without having to scream at each other.

-That's kind of a "me" thing--

I got divorced
when my daughter was little, right?

Do you have concerns
about her being from a divorced family?

No, I don't think so
because she has such a strong relationship

with both of you.

I feel like she still connects
with her family really well,

and I'm just happy
to get to know you and her dad.

-It's not a shameful thing.
-[Devin] No.

You know what I mean?

I feel like society makes it,
like, such a shameful, shameful thing.

It's like sometimes things don't work out
despite your best efforts.

What type of things
do you see from your family

that you're going to bring
in the relationship?

-Sorry to keep drilling you.
-No, you're okay.

-I gotta know. This gotta be right.
-[Devin] Yeah, it's a big thing.

Yeah, for sure.

I think the biggest thing, making sure
that we put God first in our relationship.

I feel like we're kind of,
like, each other's rock already.

And I was very vulnerable with her

about things
that I hadn't told very many people,

and she didn't judge me for anything

and she made me feel
like she really cared for me.

Right now everything just feels
very peaceful. It feels like alignment.

I feel like I really know his heart
and how kind he is.

I feel like I trust him.

My favorite part of the day
is just, like, the end of the day

when we're just talking to each other

and in bed.

I feel really strongly about Virginia,
and I do love her.

I'm determined to make sure
that our relationship works.

Faith is what pushed me towards doing it,
and I'm happy that it did,

because I get to be with Virginia.

It feels really positive.

So what do we need
to know about you, Dave?

My friends, they're all having kids now.
I'm like, I want a kid.

I'm ready to start doing that.

The fact that we talked
about kids day three, we were like…

-Like, "I don't just want two."
-That's important to know.

A lot of what we talked about was
very in alignment, pretty much everything.

When I knew that Lauren
was the right choice and the one,

it was, um,

the reality of it freaks me out.

I was like, 'cause I can
actually see this working.

-Yep. Absolutely.
-And that's what scared me.

-[Kim] It might scare you for a long time.
-I know.

When I was getting married,
I said to Nonna, my mom,

"I'm really nervous.
I'm anxious. I'm scared."

-You know, it's a big deal.
-[Lauren] Yeah.

-And my parents were divorced.
-Yeah.

So she said,
"Is it Dave that you're worried about,

or is it marriage?"

And I said,
"Oh, Dave's the one. It's marriage."

And she said, "You cannot live your life

based on other people who have
gone through marriage before you."

And I'm very much
in love with my husband still.

So not just married.

-I think that's important to know.
-[Dave] That's a good point.

How's other Dave doing?

He's doing good! He just doesn't
wanna be on camera. [laughs]

Probably how your family was,
and he really wants to meet you.

It's not about you. It's not about Lauren.
It's just the experience.

I'm not over-worried about it.

My family, I mean, they're great. They're…

Do they wanna just meet,

My dad travels a lot right now.

But going back into the real world,

it has been a lot.

There's a lot of chatter.
There's a lot of opinions.

I'm dealing with a lot. She is too.

For somebody who didn't go through it
trying to explain to family and friends,

I can see there
being this, like, huge disconnect.

-[Kim] Like, "Wait, what?"

[Lauren] I signed up to do this.
You signed up to do this.

-[Kim] Families…
-Our families are Midwest people.

This doesn't happen to people like us.

And then to expect our families
to be so fine with it,

like, I totally get it.

-Me and Lauren, we're very normal people.
-Yeah.

-What is your sister scared of for you?
-[Dave] Um…

-She's being a protective older sister.
-Yep.

She was terrified
I was gonna end up with some girl

that was just on there to be famous

or some girl
that was just in it for the wrong reasons

and making me look bad.

So she had all the right concerns,

and it all came from,
like, a very lovable place.

So does she know Lauren's one
of the most boring people that…

-I haven't told her that.
-Tell her I'm really boring.

-Not fun at all. Super lame. [laughs]
-[Dave] She's not cute. Super boring.

-You met her mom.
-I hate being around her.

-Your friends are gonna survive this?
-Yeah, my friends are fine.

You know, at some point,
they have to realize it's not about them.

I know. I think
everybody needs to realize that.

There is more sh*t
going on in the world to worry about…

because that was everything
