I felt that Celine's piece was the one
that I loved from the moment I saw it.

From the time that
the dancers even started on stage,

she wasn't even in the piece

and that showed confidence
that it's only about her choreography,

- which is what the competition is about.

Instead of it just being a big jumble of,

"Look at this, look at that."

It was my favorite piece.

Welcome to Dance 100.

Dance 100,
can you feel what they are putting out?

This is the toughest
dance contest in the world.

We've got amazing dancers,
show-stopping performances

and a group of choreographers
each competing

to bag that $100,000 prize.

This time around,

our choreographers have created routines
for double the amount of dancers.

And just in case increasing their workload
by 100% wasn't tough enough,

we're making them incorporate props.

But when they're not
throwing down on the stage,

the Dance 100 will be watching and judging
each performance themselves.

But the real question is,
"Are you ready for the turn-up?"

Here to pick us up is our Hawaiian dream.

[Brandi] I'm originally from Oahu, Hawaii.

When I was 18 years old,
I packed my bags and moved straight here

because I knew that LA
was the number one place I needed to be

to succeed as a professional dancer.

Who is crushing the scene ♪

Because of my size, I am almost 4'11",
I get underestimated.

"She's small. She's shy.
She's not a threat." But I am. [Laughs]

I love it. We have doubled in size.

Visually, it looks better
when there's more dancers.

What I'm a worried about,
"Where are you gonna place them?"

I'm ready to level it up this week.
I really wanted to add this element.

[all gasping and exclaiming]

[Brandi] Straight away,

I really wanted to bring
the element of heels into this

because this song is just so elegant.

Heels gives us a nice finishing line.
It shows off our body shape well.

I can't wait.

The prop that I'm going to be using
is a gigantic skirt.

This fabric is making me a little worried

'cause it's a little heavier
than I thought.

But we'll be working with this guy.

{\an8}I mean, there's so many things
that could go wrong. [Laughs]

{\an8}Adding the skirt to our performance…

{\an8}I'm not gonna lie,
I felt that fabric and I was like…

{\an8}- It's heavy!

I want to use this prop
to its full advantage,

and the only way that that works
is for me to be lifted up quite high.

We're getting the movement right
and making it look seamless.

And not like the prop is overpowering us,
is probably the biggest challenge.

Because it's so massive and heavy,

if one person decides
to pull it sooner rather than later,

it could send me flying.

What did you think of the prop?

Mate, I think you smashed it,
honestly, from the start.

It was just mesmerizing.

You came out of that thing
and I was looking at you in awe.

What I was missing was

you to carry on a little bit more.

[Rudy] Growing up, my dad wanted me
to find something I loved

and something I was committed to.

So, you know, he put me in karate,

he put me in soccer and different sports.

I took my first dance class, I was like,

"sh*t. I love this and this is for me."

Transitioning to a choreographer,

I'm happy to have this competition
to showcase that I can do this.

So how do you guys feel about
everything that happened?

why you guys chose for someone else.

I felt like they had more time to digest.

We have moments,

So I just feel like this week,

in like a grungy dark alley.

My dance this week is about relationships.

So my prop this week
is going to be handcuffs.

You're basically going to be handcuffed

to someone that you think is your person,

like your "true love,"

um, but it's actually not.

Handcuffs might not be super visible,

but I truly hope they're enough
to impress the Dance 100.

I think the thing is about Rudy

What were you trying to achieve
with this week's performance?

The full-out energy that I always bring
is still in the piece,

but I took the critiques

and I felt like I added
more of the moments

that were needed for this song.

Last time, you voted against Rudy.

I mean, this is a second go.
Has he won you over?

{\an8}Actually this time, yes, he did.

he did change some of the moments
to make it more fulfilling,

because dancing
with a partner is very hard.

You know, it's not just me,

so we have to dance together.

So that's very challenging.

So I will say that
we actually brought two elements.

It's a difficult scene.

Jackie, did you get what you wanted
from this routine?

It was very free-spirited for me.

I could tell that every single individual
on the stage was having their own time.

So I was like, "Okay, this looks fun.
I can roll with this." It was great.

Armando, were the props working for you?

The performance was great.

However, I do wish

that I got to see the props
a little bit more.

I agree with you a little bit.

Um, it was quite challenging
choreographing with handcuffs.

I already knew. I was like,
maybe it might not be as visual.

But I was like, "Let's just go for it
and see what happens." Yeah.

but I do feel like it was
a little busy to me, the piece.

a big risk this week.

So to be very honest,
the prop is distracting.

It's such a huge throne.

I used more staging,

I used a lot more formation changes,

so in that sense,
I think I took it to the next level.

I've had the opportunity to dance
with some of the world's biggest artists.

{\an8}and the next step would be to
choreograph for them, but I do want more.

{\an8}I really want to be here to represent
people that may look like me.

I am a first-generation
Vietnamese-American.

My parents were refugees
from the Vietnam w*r.

They were very strict on me, growing up.

They'd never seen me dance or teach,

so when I decided
to leave school to pursue dance,

I can understand why
my parents were definitely upset,

but it worked out in the end.

I'm proud
of what you've become. Accomplished.

and everybody impressed by you.

Our challenge for this performance

is that we have to incorporate
a prop of some sort.

I would like to play with the idea
of taking everybody's identity away.

So maybe a mask
or a balaclava or something.

Something we can pull over.

Last week, we had so much personality.

So I want to strip that away
and let the dance talk.

I think Max is a choreographer
to look out for,

but I think that the word prop
has really been open to interpretation.

A mask, to me, isn't really a prop.

I'm not concerned
about what the others are doing.

I'm just focused on me and my dancers.

Do y'all see a mask on the floor?

We do have a slight reservation
about the prop this week that we're using.

I'm a little bit nervous.

Not everyone got the masks on in time.

Some are facing the wrong way.

It's all a little bit crazy,

but it's a hurdle
we have to get over quickly.

to portray a different side of me.

Give me your perspective.

What did you witness and feel?

I mean, the musicality is nuts,

but I wish that the prop
enhanced the intention a little bit more.

Was it a prop
or was it a piece of costume?

The way we used it was a prop.

It changed the dynamic of our performance

and it takes away everybody's identity
and rips away your visibility.

It's a prop.

Dobbin, did you think
the prop showed up today?

I didn't understand
the concept until you said it,

especially that ripping away the identity.

That could have been shown
within the movement a bit more.

we're going comfortable, little bit dirty.

So the last performance,
we wore something skin-tight.

This performance, I'm really excited
to showcase something more masculine.

I've gotten to work with
Jennifer Lopez on her residency show.

And my experience as a commercial dancer
has been to hop into lingerie.

And today, I'm trying to find the balance

between my masculinity and femininity.

When my fiancée and I dance together,

we don't like jumping into gender roles,

so we're trying to break
the heteronormativity.

that you get to show who you are

I've been passionate,
but something had been missing.

I'm taking a huge risk.
I have flares. I have handkerchiefs.

So hopefully, the Dance 100
will appreciate that risk

because I'm trying to impress,
I'm trying to win.

and this is my chance to show
who I am and to share my story.

but with that, there's so many

that I feel were left in the dust.

And it also started
to feel like a dance troupe a little bit,

instead of like a big stage performance.

It felt more like a competition.

What was your perspective?

I really enjoyed the fact
that you played to the Dance 100.

It's very easy to
just dance to the audience,

but the Dance 100

that I hate is really making me nervous

because I don't want them

So I said,

What were your props?

We had the glasses,

What are your thoughts?

Last time you performed,

I loved the variation in the styles
that you showed onstage.

This week, I was so looking forward

because I was just feeling so defeated.

So to have people that believe in me,
