01x02 - Mustang

Post by bunniefuu »

Tonight, comedian Chris Redd

will take on a single contestant

in a sweet, one-of-a-kind car game show.

Welcome to my new game show.

A show that taps into two genres

that we know you, the audience member,

has an appetite for.

I put two identical cars

next to each other,

and I have a contestant tell me

which one's a car,

and here's the twist,

which one's a car covered in cake.

The one on the left is the car cake.

Okay, hold on. Hold on.

Don't answer so fast.

Let it sit for a second.

-Okay, which one is the cake?

-It

Take a hard look at both of these

identical vehicles. Think about this.

One on the left.

Okay.

Cake locked.

Now it's time for me to take a bite

to see if he is right.

Ow! I mean, Mmm!

Guess you were right.

Is It Carke?

Are y'all serious? For real? Is It Carke?

What the hell is this show anyway, man?

Is It Carke? That is so lazy.

Two of the most beautiful things in life.

Family and wild horses.

I mean, if I saw a family of wild horses

or wild horses hanging out with my family,

my heart would explode.

Come on now. What?

Why am I sounding so sentimental?

Because I'm dealing with a family

with a dead horse in their garage.

It's not a real dead horse.

I'm talking about a 1990 Mustang.

And that was the most cleverest segue

you've ever heard in your life.

Shake. Shake.

Meet Carter.

Sit, Jimo.

This is where I spend most my time.

This high school Star Wars nerd

is looking forward to getting his license

so he can drive

his dusty, old car right here.

This car was gifted to my son by my mom.

Thirty-three years old. It's a 1990.

It's been Carter's dream car

since he was, like, four years old.

He'd look at that car. "That's mine."

There's lots of damages,

discoloration.

With his official driver's test

only a couple weeks away,

Carter's mom and grandma want him

to be able to roll up to school in style.

- Ooh.

- Ooh.

-I can't believe it actually works.

-I know.

So, naturally,

they submitted him for the show.

Carter and I have had a very good

relationship from the very beginning.

She's always been there for me

through tough times.

It's really good to have her around.

I love this car. I love this car.

The car came from my significant other.

So it has been a very special car to me.

Just to think

it's been rotting all these years.

-It hasn't. It's been protected.

-Not rotting, but

What it was doing was

sitting there waiting for you.

Growing up, I didn't want to have

a car everyone else had.

It's special to me 'cause

it's special to my Grandma.

So I feel like it's something

that brings us together.

It was a perfect car for me.

Now it needs to be a perfect car for him.

I'm so excited.

We had to pick Carter.

How could we say no

to his cool-a*s Grandmama.

And none of those things can communicate

with a touch-screen design

So, now we have two problems.

First, they need to buy

I only have a few days left to build this,

so mine is not gonna do any of that.

But it will be able to move its head, eye,

and talk to Carter if he has questions.

So I'm assembling now the droid innards.

It's two RC car motors,

two servos, specifically.

I got all these components

at an RC car store

because we don't have a robotics division.

So we're gonna go with what we got.

This bracket

This will all actuate the head

Let me get the door.

Open the door.

I was a waitress

for three years. I'm not gonna drop it.

We're gonna paint this

to go along with the Mustang colors.

I have a lot of cool lines to work with,

so I'm stoked to see

what I can do with this thing.

Because a lot of the characters

of Star Wars

are very robotic and geometric,

we're gonna carry that theme to the paint,

which is why we're coming

with the airbrush.

Since there's a lot

of detail in this,

it's a lot easier with the airbrush.

It's just a very, very condensed version

of a big spray g*n

to get our really fine details

and to just give it some effects

that I can't get with anything else.

Excuse me, friends.

- I have a droid for you.

- Oh snap!

Oh my gosh! It's so cute.

Well, we gotta figure out Ziggy's new home

because she's kind of heavy.

Let me get in. I'm just nervous.

Aw, Ziggy is kind of cute.

- Super cute.

- He's gonna be stoked when he sees this.

All right, team.

Let's pull together and get this done.

- All right.

- Let's wrap it up!

Homestretch. Let's go.

This Mustang is going home

to Carter and Grandma tomorrow.

So tonight, we all need to work together

and bring this thing home.

May the Force be with us.

I'm gonna do Saul a solid

and attach the seats

My girl ♪

since he'll be busy

installing the door panels.

Look at that.

Like a Taylor Swift concert.

Meanwhile,

Don's going to install his infinity light

right under his favorite feature.

The spoiler, which I think

turned out pretty sick, by the way.

Oscar's gonna build a custom seat

for Nelson's droid, Ziggy, to live in.

It even has Carter's name

engraved in Aurebesh,

the official Star Wars language.

Oh my God, he's so cute I might die.

And if all that isn't enough

to blow Carter's socks off,

Oscar and Saul are using

hundreds of LED lights

to make him a custom headliner

to resemble the night sky.

It's like the glow-in-the-dark stickers

you used to put on your ceiling as a kid,

but a million times better.

And that, my friends, is how

you transform Grandma's old Mustang

into a teenage Star Wars fan dream car.

All right, Carter and Grandma.

I love this car, and I love this story

'cause it's a grandma giving

an heirloom down to a grandson.

Okay, now, wave at that team right there

that helped make your car amazing.

They put their blood, sweat,

and tears into this car to make it dope.

And I stood by and did nothing to help.

You didn't have to do this much, y'all.

Sorry about that.

All right, man, while you soak it in,

let's talk about this car and the details.

So let's start with the obvious,

the paint job.

Well, what we have learned about you

is that you love your grandma,

and you're a huge Star Wars fan.

So, we went with white to give it

that Stormtrooper kind of Empire vibe.

And with the racing stripe,

we used the original maroon of the car

because you have to remember your roots

and why you have such a badass car.

- Can we turn off the lights?

and then when it's nighttime, it glows.

be able to find where you parked, my boy.

- Smart.

- So will every bird that flies above you.

- All right, Oscar. Tell 'em what you did.

So, the Cobra was the fastest,

most badass Mustang

that they ever produced.

So we reincarnated your car

with a Cobra body kit

so it can look like a fast car.

But don't get your hopes up.

It still has the four-cylinder engine.

reliable starter engine in there

because, no offense Carter,

this is your first car.
