Honestly, I just got
a really, really, really big lead.

Just got a call.

Somebody discovered
a previously ungraded T206 Honus Wagner.

What?!

[Ken] People who don't know
anything about sports,

people who do not know
anything about trading cards,

ask them about a T206 Wagner. They'll go,

"Oh yeah, that's that really rare
expensive baseball card."

It is part of a set of tobacco cards.

Honus Wagner did not want to be associated
with selling tobacco to kids,

so his card was pulled.

A few of them escaped,

and the card has really become
a mythical creature.

A folk legend to the industry.

The card is not known by anybody.

It was kept raw
in a bank vault since the 1970s.

-Wow.
-A friend of mine purchased the card,

he took it to SGC,
and it got graded an excellent five.

-Five?
-Five!

-[Robbie Sr.] Serious?
-[Ken] Five.

Dead serious, which, as you know,

would make it
the highest graded Wagner by SGC ever.

One of the two top Wagners in history.

-Wow.
-You know, the card is so rare.

And it's rare because
of how many they are, you know?

Supposedly it was 50 to 200,
but nobody knows.

But if it's a five, like you said,

there'll be people on the moon
trying to get that card.

I agree.

[Ken] Up until this point,

the most valuable item
in the history of sports collectibles

{\an8}was a '52 Mantle,
which sold for a 12.5 million.

{\an8}That particular example was graded a 9.5.

{\an8}It was the highest grade
ever given to that card.

So this would just blow everything
out of the water.

This card represents the Holy Grail.

The white whale,
as they call it in the industry.

I've known this guy for many years.
I consider him a friend.

But I haven't seen the card.
I gotta fly to Florida.

I gotta see if I can cut a deal.

I gotta see if I can take it home
with me before everybody else finds out.

-Sure.
-He told me I'm the first he called.

So hopefully he can listen to me
and I can leave with the card.

-You're the man to do it.

the T206 Honus Wagner.

just to appraise the card for him.

But in my mind, I need to get this card.

Unbelievable, I did. You know
how difficult it's been to get here.

-[Steve] This card was raw.

It's been sitting
in a safe-deposit box for... 45, 50 years.

We were sent a couple pictures of it.

We had no idea exactly
what it was gonna grade.

Took the chance and said,
"Let's make this happen."

-Congratulations. I'm glad it worked out.
-[Steve] Thank you.

[Steve] I've been collecting cards
for a few years,

and the Honus Wagner card
is known as the most valuable card.

I absolutely love this card
and I am honored and happy that I own it.

-You ready for this?
-I'm ready.

[Steve] Okay.

Wow.

T206 Honus Wagner.

The Holy Grail
of the trading card industry.

This is ridiculous.

One of these cards ripped in half
almost sold for a million dollars.

This is the nicest one
I have ever seen in my life.

[Steve] The card is a five.

There's not too many of them.
How much is this thing worth?

You have to look at some comps. Right?

You have to look
at the different types of grades of cards.

A one on a scale of one to ten,

you're looking at probably...
three and a half million now.

We sold a two over a year ago for 3.6,

I can sell one now
for six and a half million.

We haven't had a sale
above a two grade in years.

{\an8}A five? I would say this card
is worth at least $25 million.

{\an8}[Steve] Wow.

{\an8}Crazy.

{\an8}-[sarcastically] That's it?
-[both laughing]

This is a major earthquake
for the hobby in an excellent way.

[Ken] The grading companies provide
an invaluable service to the industry.

They assign a numerical grade
which allows the card to trade seamlessly,

and creates a stable value for the item.

There are no tens of a Honus Wagner.

There is one PSA 8.

After that, the highest grade is a five.

[Ken] Have you thought
about putting it up for auction?

While the market is good...
I at least wanna talk about the card.

[sighs] I was hoping we weren't gonna have
this part of the conversation.

-Impossible with me! You invite me...
-[Steve] I should've known better.

You think we're not gonna talk business?
Come on.

[Steve] Ken is a businessman
and, knowing Ken,

I'm gonna start hearing from him
as early as tomorrow, probably every day.

If there's a day he misses,
maybe Easter or Christmas,

and I'd be surprised
if he even misses those.

Nobody knows this exists.
I mean, think about that.

I have a laundry list of people
that are looking to buy a card like this.

We can trumpet it out as the biggest sale
in the history of the industry.

You want to be thinking
about when you wanna sell it.

As a collector, it's hard for me
to just so easily part with it.

This is the greatest card of all time, so...

Once I part with it,

I could never ever
get anything like it back.

The right deal will come. I will find it.

I'm not closing the door on anything.

Anything is possible.

-So we're gonna see where it all goes.
-We'll see what happens.

[Ken] There are some collectors out there
who aren't in it for the money.

They're in it for the thrill of the chase.

But I believe Steve
is all about the business transaction.

So make no mistake,

I will be prying this card
away from Steve,

and we will set
a record with it at Goldin.

What we need the guy to do

They only made 26 of these.

Only 13 or so are known to exist.

I wouldn't sell this
for a million dollars. I just wouldn't.

It's hard to let go.

But I do have two of this one.

-Stadium Events.
-It's a great problem to have, right?

[Zac] This is tied
for the highest grade, 9.6.

This one is a five-screw.

-There's only about three of those known.
-[Carlo] Whoa.

[Carlo] Published by Bandai,
Stadium Events was briefly released

{\an8}in 1987.

{\an8}It's a fitness game
for the Nintendo System

{\an8}that uses a revolutionary floor mat

in which two players can compete
in four different sporting events.

Nintendo was so impressed
with the technology

that they bought the rights
to the game and the mat

and asked for all existing copies
to be recalled from store shelves,

so that they could rebrand
and re-release it.

Of the roughly 100 original
Bandai cartridges still in existence,

{\an8}only around three have five screws.

{\an8}In 1987, companies began the switch
to a three-screw version to lower cost,

{\an8}making this scarce Bandai game,
a Holy Grail item.

And this is probably
one of my most expensive pieces.

[Carlo] Yeah.

I do have another Mario,
but it is a far later edition.

-All right, I mean...
-[Carlo] Value. 9.4, wow.

-You picked up a good one.
-Hang tab, 9.4.

There's only about 30 or so
of these original Mario,

with the circle seal and the hang tab.

The only comp was several years ago,

and it was over 500,000.

[Carlo] Oh my...

-We'll have to talk more about that.
-Make a note about that one.

{\an8}[Carlo] Released in 1985,

{\an8}Super Mario Bros. might just be
the most iconic video game of all time.

After video game interest
had waned in the US,

innovation in the Super Mario Bros. game
reignited consumer interest in gaming.

But this early edition
only sold for a few short months,

making this rare,
mint condition collectible,

{\an8}highly sought after.

[Carlo] Just looking at the shelf,

it'd be hard to turn down
some numbers you'd get from these.

I mean, you've seen
what we've done in the space.

-Some numbers we've gotten, you know.
-Yeah. True.

-We're doing business expansion next year.
-Are you? Okay.

[Zac] We have a couple
of video game stores. Family business.

We're buying
a 20,000-square-foot warehouse.

We're turning it into a video game
and collectibles superstore.

-That's amazing.
-A dream of mine since I was a kid.

I don't see how you could regret
selling these two beauties

if it's gonna go to fuel that store.

for over 500,000.

a box of sealed cards,

and you have no idea
what the contents are going to be.

The way the box break works is,

instead of spending a thousand dollars
for a box of trading cards,

you spend $50
and get assigned a particular team.

So whoever had the Spurs got Wemby.

So even though he did not spend
any money buying the box,

he is the legal owner of the card.

-What do you figure that is? $50,000 card?
-[Ryan] More, possibly.

-Like triple Logoman for LeBron.

-Everybody was chasing that.
-Correct.

Everybody was after this card.
This is his first superfractor out there.
