renowned cardiologist Nicholas Depace,

who is not only an amazing doctor,

but possesses an incredible
sports memorabilia collection.

You wouldn't think
I'd find memorabilia in a doctor's office,

but you never know
where the hobby's gonna take you.

Joe DiMaggio, 1950 game-used jersey.

This is all original.
Easily over half a million dollars.

was still in his 20s.

to retire and, in his prime,

the most dominant pitcher
in the history of Major League Baseball.

And you know what's interesting
about Gretzky?

And I learned this

All these players, back in the day,

they can't pull the jersey over your head.

He knew he wasn't getting into a fight.
He was gonna avoid fights.

And that's one of the key reasons
you can tell a key Gretzky. Ooh!

But really, he was just a sideshow.

This is amazing.

Nick was smart enough
to start acquiring these in the 1970s,

well before anybody else knew
what they were,

and before they became valuable.

-[Nick] At least 400 or 500.

Four or five hundred game-used jerseys.

Can I get your commitment

to be able to consign them
and raise significant funds?

That small pile alone
will get this museum completed.

When you think about the auction world,
it truly is unpredictable.

We have these goals that were set
in place months and months ago,

but the market was in a different place
months ago.

At the end of the day,
he bought it for $700-and-something.

-I was gonna say, he didn't lose anything.
-I mean, he did well.

Bought one for my mom, never used it,

missed the return window, and said,
"Now's time to take a look at selling."

We did what we could.

[Dave] There's a few factors here.

Obviously, the market
is not what it was a year ago.

And a few of these have come out since,

so you're looking at a sale
that was the first one to hit the market.

Obviously, this is not the first one
'cause we had that sale.

I mean, the market is what it is,
you know, there's ups and downs.

The Pablo Escobar Gaviria en Caricaturas...
I thought is gonna do a little better.

The quality of this... I don't know.
I'm a little bit...

Pablo isn't for everybody.


he's part of history here, so...

It's a unique piece.

We've seen this book
sell for well over 20K.

Every year, Panini releases
a World Cup sticker album

with a blank space for each player.

Collectors are searching
for these World Cup sticker inserts,

that are similar to sports cards,
trying to fill up that album.

In some cases,

these stickers are worth just as much,
if not more, than typical sports cards.

Wow, to hear about this card for so long,

to know so many people were chasing it,
and to now see it in person...

Absolutely beautiful.

[exhales sharply]

This is a big-time deal.

-Yeah. This is big time.
-[Ryan] You know?

Yeah, the Messi,
that's the champion for the World Cup.

-First time in a long time since Maradona.
-[Henry] Yeah.

Bringing in a World Cup to Argentina,
which is huge.

These cards are notoriously
extremely hard to grade

because of that black border.

A lot of times they're chipped,
or they have whiting on the edges.

An eight is actually a really good grade.

So, this is amazing.

Were you always a big collector?

[in Spanish] Yes, always. When I was
in Guatemala, I was buying a whole lot.

[in English] Awesome.
Can you walk me through that moment?

Like, what that feeling was like?

[in Spanish] I was in shock.

I didn't know what to do at that moment.

[in English] What did you pay
for the packs to get this card?

-Ninety-five.
-[Henry] Ninety-five.

For the whole box.

Wow. Okay. Oh my gosh.

How much you think this'll cost?

That's the million-dollar question
right there.

His cards have always sold very well.
There's no denying that.

But once he won the World Cup, he became
the undisputed best player in the world.

His card started jumping about 40 to 50%
higher than they ever sold before.

So I really do believe...
we can get $100,000 for this card.

Wow.

-[Levy] That's a lot of money.
-[Ryan] A lot of money.

So Henry, with a card as big as this,

is there anything specific that
you were looking to do with that money?

Well, my dream is to buy a new house
for my mom.

Being a mama's boy myself,
I absolutely love that.

from another country. It's a struggle.

So when you have an item like this,
that can change their life forever,

I want to do everything I can
to make this a huge success.

This is my original Bob Ross painting.

Bob Ross with the 'fro that my grandma
was watching on Saturday mornings?

You sort of caught me
pedaling around here a little bit.

He's the Mr. Rogers of the art world, man.

Each Bob Ross piece is a true one of one.

It's impossible to even see
a real Bob Ross in person,

let alone in a private setting.

I think one of the reasons
people still adore Bob Ross

is that he was actually
the godfather of ASMR,

which is the calming, soothing voice
that we use for therapy nowadays.

Let's just start putting in
all kinds of happy little things.

Maybe... Ooh, look at that son of a g*n.

He was actually the first one
to bring that into our lives,

where we could watch him do what he does
and be calm through watching.

What I love about this one
is the color pop,

and I think that this would do really well
at a private gallery.

I love the way it looks.
This is like a more complete art piece

that he would have done
on The Joy of Painting show.

[Dave] Is it tough to find
the ones on the show?

The ones painted on or for the show
are actually near impossible to find.

[Carlo] Really? Yeah.

[Eric] They were kept
by the foundation,

and they don't have plans on selling them
at this point.

I really look for the ones that either
got out of their possession

or were done privately off of the show.

[Dave] Art as a category,
it's impossible to break into.

There's a lot of forgeries.
There's a lot going on.

So the opportunity to sell it,
authenticate it, and make sure it's good

could get us into that world.

When you're in the painting world,
there's a lot of money.

I love sports cards, but...

if I had another chance to do it all,
I'd do paintings, probably.

So, obviously, nothing like this
has come to market anytime recently.

What's the price expectation
on something like this?

I think 25 to 30.
Something like that I'd be happy with.

Are there any comps, though,
around 25-35 that we can feel good about?

Very few, but there are some.

Yeah, I mean, I think that's
what sets us up for our success.

We know when items aren't available,
that's what drives those prices up.

We got the pop culture auction coming up.

-We get this, who knows what could happen?
-I think you guys could get it there.

Bob Ross paintings carry huge risks
for Goldin and the seller.

We've no clue where it's gonna go.

There's not many comps, and we don't know
what the market thinks of Bob Ross.

We're gonna have to start it low, though.
A little risk on your end.

Wouldn't be the first risk I took.

[Ken] This is really unique.

This is the late, great,
and legendary Pat Tillman.

It is his actual game-used jersey
from the 1997 Rose Bowl.

And of course, when a lot of people
think about Pat Tillman,

they remember after 9/11, he left the NFL.

He joined the Army, became an Army Ranger,

and tragically lost his life in 2004.

This is one of the few photo-match,
game-used jerseys that exist of Tillman.

Look for the auction. This is
an amazing piece of football history.

Now, before we go,
speaking of amazing pieces,

for those who do not know,


was just recently released.

but there is a card
featured in that product

with the future MVP, Mr. Joel Embiid.

But that's not
the important part of the card.

The best part of the card

is the godfather himself,
Mr. Ken Goldin, is courtside, front row.

All you see in the card is Ken Goldin.

I didn't even see Joel Embiid.
I only saw Ken Goldin.

So you literally see part of Paul's hand,

Tell me about yourself, your collectibles.
How'd you get into this?

I started when I was about 14.

Started collecting
with my dad and my brother.

I started collecting He-Man,
G.I. Joes, Transformers, ThunderCats.

-Oh, yeah.
-I've pretty much done it all.

-[Carlo] Yeah, me too.
-But I have a spot for Star Wars figures.

There's something about the Star Wars.

Just how popular the franchise is.
These things only seem to go up in value.

Brought a couple of items
to show you today.

The first one is a Jawa vinyl, 1977.

-Wow!
-This is actually a first shot.

-[Chris] Come on.
-[Carlo] Extremely rare item.

-How many of these are out there?
-[Chris] Probably about five in the world.

[Carlo] Oh my God.

A first shot is a figure they use

to test the steel mold that's going
to mass-produce the entire line.

Lot of times, they're painted differently
than the final product or not at all.

Because they only make a few of them,
they're not sold to the public.

It makes them super rare
and really valuable.

[Chris] Then we also have...

the holy grail of Star Wars collectibles.

The rocket-firing Boba Fett
prototype mailer, J-slot.

Only three in the world,

and one has never
been auctioned before, period.

[Ken] Boba Fett hit the silver screen
in 1980 in The Empire Strikes Back.

With only four lines of dialogue,
the mysterious Boba Fett

tantalized the imaginations
of children all over the world,

and was the first mail-away figure
in the history of Star Wars.

With a proof-of-purchase
from four other Star Wars figurines,

you could mail in
to receive a Boba Fett toy.

Originally,
the Boba Fett figurine was designed

to wear a spring-loaded
rocket-firing backpack

that had an L-shaped slot
for the release lever.

In attempts to make it safer,
a J-shaped slot prototype was created.

Ultimately, Kenner, the toy company,
for fear of a choking hazard debacle,

never released either renditions
and chose a fixed rocket and backpack

to send out in the mailer.

Only three J-slot versions
are known to exist,

making this rocket-firing Boba Fett J-slot
prototype mailer an interstellar find.

Up until 2017,
these weren't even known to exist.

I can't believe I'm seeing this right now.

[Chris] Because of safety issues
with the firing mechanism,

they actually scrapped the item.

So this actually never made it out
into the public.

But what ended up happening is,

the engineer actually ended up
saving three of these items.

[Carlo] And see here
this is an 85, near mint.

This is actually an 85-plus. So...

[Carlo] This is the best copy
out of the three.

[Chris] Yes.

Do you know some prior sales in these?
There can't be many, obviously.

A J-slide AFA 50 sold from 236,000.

I mean, that versus this,
this is not even comparing the two.

I couldn't imagine
the headlines this would bring.

It's so newsworthy.

Star Wars is so popular,
and maybe more than it's ever been. So...

I would love to discuss this with you
and get this to Goldin.

Are you ready to let this roll?

[Chris] For the right amount
or price, I am.

Okay. So obviously, you know
how the auction world starts. I mean...

Things start lower.
We want to create that competition.

And it goes from there.
So when you say, "At the right price..."

I mean, I'm talking about
we need to start a reserve of $500,000.

-Five hundred.
-[Chris] Yeah.

Okay.

I'm torn. On the one hand,
he thinks he has the greatest item.

And overconfident people
usually have unrealistic expectations,

and they're hard to work with.

On the other hand,
Star Wars items are so hot right now.

Something like this
would put Goldin on the map

for Star Wars and toys in general.

That's a big number.
I... I personally never give a reserve.

It could turn bidders off, right?

They want to know they can win this item.

When things start a little lower,
they come in early, they come in often.

That creates that w*r.
That creates desirability, the urgency.

That's where we get
those prices really high, so...

You start this so high,
it might turn them off.

And in the end,
we actually hurt the value of this.

That doesn't concern you at all?

-No.
-[chuckles]

No. Yeah, it's 500K or nothing, man.

I know this is going to put us
in a new category.

It's gonna put Goldin on the map

as the place to sell
high-end toys, action figures.

Let's do it, man.

What we really need to do
is time the market correctly

and present this at the perfect moment.

Strategically, there's a new
Mandalorian movie coming out next year.

There'll be a lot of Star Wars buzz.

I've been collecting all my life,
and now I'm curator

of one of the most significant
drum kit collections in the world.

So you're at the Frangioni Foundation
Modern Drummer Hall of Fame

private drum museum.

And it's one of the finest collections

of modern-day historic drum kits
and memorabilia in the world.

[Carlo] I mean, this is insane!

[David] This space serves two purposes.

We bring kids in need
to what we call inspire sessions,

and they play the kits that inspire them,

and they take memories
for the rest of their life.

-That's awesome.
-And we bring famous drummers here,

who essentially
want to experience the drum kits.

Stephen Perkins from Jane's Addiction,
came, and he said,

"Hey, tell me. Like, who comes here?"
I said, "There's two types of people."

"There's kids in need and rock stars."
He said, "What's the second type?"

[guffaws]

-Dude, I... This is...

I mean, I love what you're doing
with the kids. That's incredible.

We have a non-profit.
You know, when I was two years old,

I was diagnosed with retinoblastoma,
which is cancer of the eye.

What that means is,
you have three outcomes. Only three.

You die, you're blind,
or you're half-blind.

I hit the lottery
and I've only been half-blind,

but it was a traumatic experience
that had me in and out of hospitals

the whole first ten years of my life.

So I created a space
that I would have wanted to visit

when I was struggling
through retinoblastoma.

I've only been able to see
out of my left eye since two years old,

but going through the trauma of that
in my childhood,

it really brought me closer to music,

and I found drumming,
and it's a refuge for me.

It's something I am very passionate about.
I've been drumming my whole life.

-Pretty inspiring so far.
-Yeah, that's incredible.

This place is amazing.

[David] Wait till you see
the whole collection.

So this is a true showstopper.

-A Ringo Starr Beatles-played drum kit.
-[Carlo] Whoa.

[Dave] No!

[David] Obtained directly from Ringo
through his auction.

Ringo stated that it was used
in the "Hello, Goodbye" video.

It was used for some overdubs
on Abbey Road and the White Album.

-What?
-Signed by Ringo on the snare drum.

It's a one-of-one kit, custom-made.

All of these sizes are uniquely made,
and in 1967-'68,

Ludwig had to stop the presses
because this is so customized.

An early Beatles set a couple of years ago
sold for 2.2 million.

That's right. This is the only kit
in the museum that cannot be played.

But everybody wants a picture of it
and wants the mojo from the Beatles.

[Carlo] That's right. Incredible.

So, as we keep going,
we have Alex Van Halen's 2015 drum kit.

[Dave] There it is.

[David] This drum kit, turns out,
it was the last Van Halen tour.

-It was used during The End Tour.

-The Flintstones movie.

This is the kit
that started it all, gentlemen.

Carl Palmer. Emerson, Lake & Palmer
stainless steel kit, one of one.

I got this album when I was
eight years old in the hospital,

and I'd never seen or heard
anything like this.

Every drum has a different animal
hand-etched with a dentist's drill.

-[Dave] Oh my God.
-[David] It took a year to make.

British Steel made the drum kit
for Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

Toured stadiums for years.

[Carlo] Wow.

[Dave] I have a need for an inspiration
session through music, man,

just being here.

I'm a little rusty.
