01x01 - Episode 1

Post by bunniefuu »

All right, here we go.

Everybody rolling?

Rolling.

- Sweatin' like a wh*re in church.

Take one.

Mark.

- I've always wanted to do that.

- Ooh-wee, Lord have mercy.

- It's a sh*t show.

- Woo!

- Who on this planet
has a family of 10 biological sisters?

- And we're Muslim American?
It's next level.

Being one of 10 sisters,

it's a tumultuous roller coaster ride,
without a harness,

and then you fall into the abyss.

- So much chaos.

- A lot of dramatics.

Why did call me
a clown-a*s b*tch?

- But we're having a great time.

- Forgot something, my whip, pshhh!

It's fun.

- We're all on our periods
at the same time.

You do not wanna come to our house.

Hell nah.

Our parents fled as refugees
from w*r-torn Afghanistan

in the early '80s.

We were raised
in a very conservative Muslim household.

We pray five times a day,
fast, wore the traditional garb at home.

We still have the spirit
of the culture alive in the family.

Although we love and respect each other,

we're split into two camps.

The elders
consist of the four eldest sisters

who were born in Afghanistan.

The elder sisters
are a little bit more traditional.

- First, you're gonna pour...
- Hamida!

And the rest of us were born in the US,

and we're the wolf pack.

Aaah!

Did he send you a pic?

Here we are,
born and raised in America,

we're Americans first.

Trying to respect the religious aspect,

but still trying to live our truths.

It's a fine balance.

- And that's where my motto comes from:

party and pray.

Religion is extremely important to me,

and some of the stuff that they do,

frankly, I don't agree with.

'Cause I don't like you
when you dress like this.

- It's not that bad, guys.

But do you know how close
that is to your vajayjay?

No matter our differences,

I think that us 10 sisters are so close
because we had a very hard upbringing.

Our father was m*rder*d.

He didn't get to see any grandkids.

And then leave,
like, 10 little girls shattered.

It left us pretty much orphaned.

We had to take on
this role of being our own men,

because we didn't have anyone
to step up to the plate.

It was our sisterhood and our faith
that got us through it.

- Family.
- Family!

- We always want to make my mom proud.

- We love you.

- I love you too.

- And it's important to have her approval.

- Were you thinking about saying anything?

- Hell no, girl! Are you crazy?
- Really?

- Sometimes we feel like
we're carrying the burdens

of the feelings of my family over my own.

- What are you hiding?
What don't you want me to know?

- I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

'Cause there's so much respect
I have for my family.

I just hope
that our bond just conquers all.

- Buckle up.

- Keep sliding. Slide it. Slide it.

Right there. Got it, got it.

Baby, are you doing it without gloves?

That works.

I used to build tents.

See how big it's gonna be?
It's massive.

Now it's gonna go on those poles,

and it's gonna sit up high.

You need help with your pole?

I think you have your hole.
- Hole. No, your hole.

- You don't have no problem
finding the hole any other day.

- This is too small.
- It is very small.

Shakur, take one.
That's me.

I'm sister number five,
aka leader of the Wolf Pack,

aka don't with my family.

Thank you!

I'm an actress. I did a lot of modeling.

I used to have a record deal.

I was a signed artist
through Atlantic Records.

If you weren't in the room

and hearing me get
and bust a nut,

then you weren't there.

I'm the protector. I'm the muscle.

If you don't like it.

So right here... Put it down, honey.

- I'm over it.

- That's a good workout for the day.
Come on.

Recently, I took a break
from entertainment,

and I've been real estate investing
and developing.

And I've learned everything
I've known in this market

through my husband, Josh.

God didn't give you that height
for no reason, and that strength.

You gotta put that to use, Viking.

He's my first love. He's my only love.

I've never been in love outside of him.

Didn't know what love was until I met him.

Josh and I were dating for about a month
before we got married.

Take notes.

One of my caveats before marrying Josh

was I wanted to be married
to a Muslim man.

- I bear witness,
there is no God before Allah.

Josh became Muslim.

He took the Shahada
in front of my entire family.

It meant so much to me.

It showed me his commitment
not only to God but to myself

and to my family,

showing that he really wanted
to be a part of our family.

- Babe, so Husna is from AFG Fashion House.
- All right.

And she's the one that has

all the beautiful
traditional Afghan outfits.

Like, the best
in the southern part of Los Angeles.

Yeah, they look beautiful.

So this,
we'll start putting on hangers.

Here, Daddy, you hang them up.

I'll hand them to you, and you hang them.

Right now, my life is a bit chaotic.

Josh and I are hosting
our first Eid together,

and it's a big deal.

It's a bunch of pressure
and I can feel it just...

marinating.

I hope that everyone's happy
with the way we do the Eid,

because usually my older sisters
or someone else, they host it.

So this year is my first year
where I am hosting with my husband.

So we have to handle everything,

the setup, the food, the catering of this.

So I just... Inshallah,
everyone will be happy

with how it turns out.

Eid signifies Eid al-Adha.

It's about forgiveness.

It's about zakat, which is charity.

And it's about nothing but love and light.

And my family come together

and spend quality time
with each other.

We're going to pray,

wear beautiful dresses,

and we're gonna have a good time.

And eat!

I just want it to be peaceful,
everything nice.

- I think that's
what we always want, babe.

- But it hasn't been
all 10 of us in the same house, sisters,

because Balifa lives in London.

So she finally came...

So this is the first time
everyone's gonna be together

under one roof.

All sisters, on Eid.

- So where's me?

- This one might have the most give,
the most play in the arms.

Yes!

Josh, I am physically so attracted to him.

He's my little stallion. He's my Viking.

The way he's built like a Greek God.

Like, when you look at him,
it's just very impressive.

Hey, look at him!

Hey!

Bravo!

That's a nice color on you.

It's imperative for me

to let my family see
how well Josh and I are doing.

Josh and I were going through a divorce,

'cause Josh's prescription med addiction
got really, really bad.

But decided to give him a second chance
and work on my marriage.

My sisters are skeptical
and have reservations,

but I believe in my heart
that he's changed.

- Are you ready?
- Yes.

I'm always ready, baby. I'm excited.

It's a lot of pressure.

I want to make sure I deliver,

I make it enjoyable
and memorable for everybody.

It's so imperative for me
that it goes off without a hitch.

My mom is there.

I want her to see the unity,
the love, the forgiveness, the light.

Just everything Eid embodies
needs to be present that day in my house.

And then J's with me,
and he's back in the picture in the family

so he feels the pressure too.

You just gotta keep an eye on no drama.

- You ain't gotta tell me, baby.

- So just keep a eye on it.

- I gotta regulate it all?
- Well, no, don't regulate.

- Tell me, and I'll tell my mom.
- Tell you, okay.

We need to find something
for you to wear.

Why do you have
dry cleaning bags everywhere?

- It's so that
you guys don't touch my sh*t.

Okay, um.

I think I lost my mic, guys.

There is just so much there.

I'm Jamila.

Sister number seven.

Lucky number seven.

And I'm the empowered boss lady
of the family.

Let me have you frown
like you're... like you're angry.

I'm a board-certified physician assistant
and entrepreneur.

You guys always want me to bring IVs
and bring stuff like that.

That means I'm working.

My sisters say that I'm the more serious,
ambitious, driven sister.

The real Jamila,
I'm actually pretty goofy.

If I wasn't in medicine,
I probably would take on comedy.

Hell nah. Nope.

- The business is doing great.

There's no man to hold me back.

I was married for six and a half years,

and I've been trying
to divorce him for four years.

I wasn't in love with him.

He didn't make my coochie wet.

Sss! Ooh-

You share your sh*t anyways.

- I do,
but I don't want it to get dusty, so.

Right now,
I'm living with two of my sisters

in what we call the Wolf Pad.

That consists of myself, Noor, Hamida,

and Rabya temporarily.

This is more conservative,

and I figure
since you're one of the elders...

- Stop calling me elders,
I'm only a few years older than you.

- Rabya is considered an elder.

She's a bridge between both worlds.

But deep down, she's desperate
to be part of the Wolf Pack.

- The Wolf Pack is bullshit.

There's no such thing as "elder." No.

No, I think I've seen Kadija wear this.

I like this one.

- That might not fit you.

- Are you calling me fat?
- No, I'm not.

Typically during Eid,
you wanna come out in your finest attire.

Shakur says
she'd like to take care of the outfits,

but I like to have
a backup option just in case.

- You know what?
I have a better idea.

You ready for this?
- Yes.

- So I brought with me...

I know all my stuff
is just, like, everywhere.

- What did you bring?

What is this?

How cute!

I'm telling you, it's gonna look...

It's so authentic.

How cute is that?
- Hey, that's super cute, actually.

- I love it!

- Hold on.
- How cute is this?

You look like a doll!

You look like such a doll.
I'm gonna ask the girls...

- It makes my hair...
My head really square.

- You know, it... it's because...
- Actually, it's very regal.

- It's from a different region
in Afghanistan, that's why.

And the pants are super cute with it.

They look like little Aladdin pants.

This reminds me of kindergarten
when Mom made our clothes

and we had to wear them for picture day,

and everyone made fun of us.

- Look how pretty you look!

- You can't even see my figure in this.
I mean, I work out for a reason.

- Traditional clothes
aren't supposed to be all tight-fitting.

My God, I love it! I love it.

- Is this for real?

- Look at how pretty you look!
Imagine... See? When you dance...

Since moving back from Canada,

Raby and I have grown to be very close.

We're going through
the same struggles, the same pain.

Raby is also leaving her marriage.

So I consider our sisterhood
pretty strong right now.

Are you happy in Canada?

Obviously, you're not.

No, Vancouver rains,
like, 200 days a year.

It was... It was...
It was depressing, Jamila.

It was super depressing.

I just want you to be happy, Rabya.

You know what?
I've loved being back here.

Honestly, I feel like
you and I have tightened our bond.

- I mean, obviously,
you know what I'm going through.

Like, you're the first person I told.

And no one else knows.

I've been going through a messy divorce.

You know, naturally, I'm going out.

Unfortunately, one thing led to another...

And it's hard for me
to even talk about it

because it's, like,
this doesn't happen in our family.

The secret that I've been holding is

that I'm pregnant.

- This is... It's hard
to say out loud because, um,

I just... I'm disappointed.

It's a very deep, dark secret
that I've been holding in,

because the situation I'm in right now

is nothing like how I was raised
or who I am as a person.

I'm the least expected person

to have to come out
with such a big secret.

- Did you decide if you wanna keep it?

- Yeah, Rabya, I wanna keep the baby.

I've been wanting it. I'm 35 years old.

This opportunity
is not gonna just happen all the time,

but I'm afraid of being judged.

Like, I don't want Mom
to disown me because of it.

This is just not our way.

I'm wearing a scarlet letter, I know.

- It's beyond a scarlet letter.

Like, if we're back home,
this would get you stoned.

Hundred percent.

- I'm definitely not ready
to tell Shaista, Khadija,

even Shakur,
as Americanized as Shakur is...

- As part of the Wolf Pack?

- She'd be the first one
to be like, "I can't believe you."

- I wish it wasn't
the route that you took.

When you tell the whole family,

it's gonna be a hard pill to swallow.

I need you to stand strong.

I just don't want Mom
to put us in a position

where she asks us
to choose between her and you.

My mother is the only parent that I have.

She tried so hard to raise us
with traditional core values,

and with Eid around the corner,

and being around everyone in the family,

I always wanna
be looked at in the best of light.

It's gonna be hard.

- And how many of the sisters do you think
are gonna choose you over her,

when she's our mother?

- Are you guys ready?
- Yeah.

- Swing your fabric behind you
like you're wearing a backpack.

- Okay.

Behind you. Behind you.

- Backpack, backpack.
- Yeah, backpack wrap.

No!

I got this.

You got it, you got this.

- Yes!
- My God!

I bring the party.

My name is Hamida,

and I'm definitely the coolest sister.

I'm number 10.

They saved the best for last.

God spent time on me.

Thank you.

That's a knee-slapper!

Do you guys wanna, like, get naked?

Woo-woo!

- To the Wolf Pack!

This is my best friend.

That's my best friend.
That's my best friend.

- I am a clinical therapist.

How is everything
since the last session when we spoke?

I think that people are very surprised
when they hear what I do.

They're like,
"Wow, she has beauty and brains."

- Hamida is our gypsy queen.

She's kind of an escapist.

She goes wherever she wants,
whenever she wants.

Some of her cons are:

she's irresponsible and she's unreliable.

Hamida just has a very carefree,
stress-free life.

Must be nice.

Why're you pouring so little?

Here, you know what?
The... Take the bottle.

Because Hamida's the baby of the family,

she knows she can get away with anything

because we'll pick up the slack.

I play hard when I play.

We know!

- My motto is party and pray.

But more party than pray.

I have a traditional side
where I practice my religion,

but I also have this other side
where I partake in certain things that...

- When you're ready,
you're gonna pick one foot up at a time,

knees wide to the outside, yes!

- Start to lean back...
- What the?

- Me and Nooreya decided
to do this areola yoga.

What the?

Is it... Is areola a nipple?

I don't know, babe.

What is it?

Wide, wide, wide.
You're all the way here.

Yes!

Tuck and roll.

Yes!

Yes!

- Are my boobs out?
- No.

Get your knees through,
knees through, knees through.

One hand at a time.

I'm trying.

- That's perfect.

- Come on, Hamida, you got this.
- You.

Why am I not climbing up?

- Yes! Hamida, yes!
- I got it!

Hamida! Wow! Hamida!

- Smile for me.

Only a small change,
like a millimeter difference.

Noo-Noo, is it too early
for champagne?

I figured we'll have a glass

and you have to open it because
I don't know how to open these bottles.

Just don't hit me or anything, please.

I figured we could get,
like, a little day buzz going

if you don't have a lot of work to do.

- I mean, I kinda do,

but a little champagne never hurt nobody.
- Okay.

Let's pop it.

Woooo!

- All right, call mark.

- I'm Nooreya. Um, I...

, what was the other one
I was gonna say?

Damn it.

I'm Nooreya, I and my...

I did it again.

Gosh dang it!

I had this.

I'm Nooreya, I'm sister number nine.

I'm definitely a goofball.

And I curse like a sailor.

Yeah! Damn straight!

I'm the director of operations
for a private equity firm.

If you scroll down,
it lists the member holdings.

My sisters would describe me
as witty, funny,

radiant, bright light.

- Actually, she's like
a ticking time b*mb.

- You want me to scoot?
Here, let me scoot more over here.

- Yes, please. Thank you, Shakur.
I asked you 10 times before.

And I'm all in the sun.

- Noor is very temperamental.

She goes from zero to a billion
in a millisecond.

Kinda like, "There she is."

For sho.

- She's been choosing
her boyfriend over her sisters.

- You know me.

- We thought we knew you.

- Since when do you not know me?

- Since you stopped hanging out with us.

I don't know what she sees in him.

This guy just won't leave!

- Maybe it's 'cause you're so annoying.

- Growing up,
Noor and I butted heads a lot.

Believe it or not,

I stabbed her in the thigh
with a screwdriver.

- Cheers.
- Cheers.

- But now we're the closest
that we've ever been,

and she's my best friend.

- Want some more, top you off?

- I guess, I mean, geez.

- So, I saw that you had
your location services turned off.

Where did you go?

- Yeah, I went out of town
for a couple of days

to go visit a friend.

- But why did you
turn off your location services?

- 'Cause I didn't want you
to know where I was.

- But why?

- Um...

I'm dating a lot of people.
I'm doing my thing, so...

Maybe I would've been with Sumey.

He's a really nice guy,

gets along with the family,
with the sisters.

But I just have
someone else on my mind right now.

- What are you really doing?

What're you hiding?
What don't you want me to know?

So there is something big
that I've been keeping from my sisters.

This is something that is frowned upon.

And it's something
that is... it's shameful.

But the truth is...

Okay.

The truth is that I'm exploring
and I'm kinda seeing, um,

I'm exploring my options
between... men and women.

- You should've had it shared with me.

I don't know why you didn't.
That's just odd, that's like...

- I just didn't want anybody to know
where I was going at the moment.

- I don't know why it was such a secret,
but okay, whatever.

I'm close with Noor,
she's my best friend,

I don't hide anything from her,

but I'm kinda nervous to tell her.

This is so far from home base
so it's like...

I just kinda wanna keep it to myself
until I'm ready to share it.

A bit early?

- Actually, no, it's, um...
- It's five o'clock somewhere, right?

Exactly.

- You guys are having a party.

- Of sorts.

- Little Hams and Noor time?
- Yeah.

- Yeah, my best friend.

Woogie-de, woogie-de, woogie-de.

I see somebody has hair there.

Has Jamila seen that?

She will have a panic attack.

- She's so annoying. You know what?

Just for that.

Well, you gotta do it the real way, Rabya,

you just gotta...
There you go. There you go!

Just like that. The proper way.

- There we go.
- What is it, tea time?

Would you like...
Would you like some chai?

- Yeah, sure.

Or would you like a glass
of, champagne?

- Thanks, babe.

It looks good. You got
the color down and everything, actually.

- Is it really hot?

It is.

- You're a b*tch.

- Why aren't you having champagne with us?

- I mean, do I have to drink every day?

- No, but it's like
you used to be, like, one of us

and, like, drink.

- I don't wanna tell anyone
about my pregnancy,

but I have to tell
the sisters that I'm living with,

because they're gonna catch on.

I guess I'll share with you guys.

It's a difficult thing to talk about.

Um...

My God, Rab.

- You've got this, baby.
You got this. You got this.

Um...

so I'm pregnant.

What?

Are you around?

No, I'm actually really serious.

So, what are you gonna do?

- I am going to keep the baby.

You know, I'm... I'm doing this alone

'cause the father's not in the picture.

But our mother raised us on her own,

we didn't have a father growing up.

You were five years old when Dad died.

- So you know
the impacts of that first-hand.

Why would you want your child
to go through the same thing?

- I'm fully capable of raising a child,

and I want you ladies
to be, like, supportive.

This is, like,
one thing in my life right now

where I really need my family.

And from your reactions,
you don't seem too thrilled about it.

- I'm scared for you.

I am too.

- I'm scared for Jamila

because this isn't something
that's accepted.

You know, having a baby
out of wedlock, premarital sex.

This goes against everything.

- How do you think Mom is gonna feel?

I'm shocked.

I mean, she's always been
the responsible one.

I just want to make sure
that she's logically thinking about this,

and that she's weighed out
everything here.

Because at the end of the day,

this decision is going to affect
all of us, not just her.

This goes against everything.

- How do you think Mom is gonna feel?

So, I am not telling you this

so that you guys can, like,
tell me what I've done wrong.

- I'm telling you...
- No one's saying...

I'm just asking your honest opinion.

How do you think Mom is gonna feel
when she finds out?

'Cause you can't keep it
a secret from Mom forever.

She's gonna see you.

What are you gonna do,
hide from her for nine months?

Mom obviously
is gonna not take well to this,

but at the end of the day,
I'm not living Mom's life,

I'm living my life.

It's my decision,
and it's my happiness.

- I'm just worried about the hurt
you're gonna bring to her.

What do you think, Rabya?

- Honestly, when she came to me,
I was heartbroken

because
I do want the best for you, Jamila.

- Then why does this feel
like such a unhappy occasion?

- We're your sisters.
We're gonna love you regardless.

It's just... We've never, as a family,

had to endure
something like this, you know?

We've all just followed
this straight path.

But I have to accept
the fact that it's here,

she's an adult, she made a decision.

I'm not here to sway her decision.

I'm here to support.

- When I cry, it's 'cause
I... I'm worried for you,

about, like, the hurt, what it's gonna
bring to the family, the shame,

and not 'cause I'm against you.

- So you support me?

- I do, yeah.

- If you truly,
in your heart, want to do this,

it's gonna bring you happiness,

then I am no one
to sit there and be against that.

I want whatever's gonna make you happy.

- I just ask that you guys promise
that you're not gonna say anything.

Especially knowing
that we have Eid coming up,

let me just break it down
to everyone when I'm ready.

- Wallahi, I will not mention anything,
and it's on you to do it.

- Wallahi, it'll stay between us.

- Wallahi, I will not say anything.

Wallahi means "I swear to God."

And this is the ultimate promise
that they're going to keep my secret.

- Sweetheart.

We're gonna do this.
We're gonna do this.

- We'll figure it out.
- We're gonna figure it out.

We've got
one, two, three cameras inside.

- I look like a princess? Like a queen?

We have great festivities
planned for Eid today.

We're gonna pray,

and we have a surprise dance
that we're gonna do for my mom.

I'm excited to host my first Eid.

Perfect timing!

- Eid Mubarak.

Scripture tells you in the Qur'an
that heaven is beneath your mother's feet.

So we all kiss our mother's hand
out of respect,

when you greet her, when you see her,
and when you leave,

because it's just a matter
of just the respect you have
for your parent.

Okay, so look, at this point,
it's first come first serve.

So have at it.

Pants, they have, everything.

- Salaam, Eid Mubarak.

- I like the black...
- Come on, pick it up.

How did I know?

When it comes to Eid,
usually, one of the elders hosts Eid.

Either we'll go to Shaista's house

or we'll go to Halimah's house.

But, like, I wanted to have
bells and whistles on this one.

It's so imperative for me
that it goes off without a hitch.

This time having everyone at once
is just something very special.

My God, you guys look so beautiful!

I'm such a mess! Look at me.
Those girls took forever...

Noor and Hamida were taking so long,
I had to leave them.

Hey. Eid Mubarak.

Wait, hold on,
I called the yellow outfit.

- Here it is!
- Yes, here it is!

- My God, it's so beautiful.
- They saved it for you.

- Being around my family right now

and not being able to tell them

about my pregnancy...

I feel like I'm not living in my truth.

I just wanna get
whatever's on my chest, off my chest.

It's so hard to celebrate
when I'm hiding such a huge secret.

- You're finally here, Noor.
- Where the heck have you been?

I'm gonna take the jewelry.

- All right. Do you have any safety pins?

- She needs to fix my necklace.
- Yeah.

- Amazing. Thank you.

- Got it.

Don't slip. Here, here.

We are so excited because it's Eid,

but it is also the first time
we're going to hang out with Josh.

And I have my reservations,

but Eid is definitely not the time
to have this family intervention

so we're just gonna sweep it under the rug

until we have an opportunity
to talk to him one-on-one.

- All right, what can I do
besides looking good?

- Can we get a spin?

- My gosh! Look at that!
- Can we get a spin?

There we go!

The queen is here!
- I love it! I love it!

This is a sight to see!

Dance practice time!
You better know this dance.

All right, so it's really important
to get this dance correct.

It's the traditional Afghan dance.

Mom loves it.
It reminds her of Afghanistan.

Let's make her proud.

- I'm Siddiqa,
I'm sister number eight.

I am the protective,
loving, warm, passionate sister

that will come for you
if you come for my family.

I'm single right now.

I'm falling in love with Siddiqa,

and I think that's really important
for mental health,

especially when you
come with 10 sisters and my mother.

- Glad you came through, Sid.
- You're welcome.

- Sidnectar the connector!

- You know how I do it.
- Always.

- Sidnectar the connector, she's the plug.

- I'm a nurse. I'm compassionate.
I'm a caretaker.

I want everyone to have a good time.

- Let's just lay it off of her for a second.
- All right, fine.

I'm always trying to make sure

that someone doesn't feel left out.

I wish the same was reciprocated.

- Definitely not me.

- I think the most dramatic sister
is Siddiqa.

Jamila, Hamida,
and Nooreya all live together

so I'm kind of like the lone wolf.

- We call Sid "Lucy" sometimes
because she has loose lips.

- I know I can keep a secret.

I mean, maybe not 10 years ago,
but I've grown.

So I'm on this side,
you're on the wrong side.

You know that already, you're next to me.

Hamida and Nooreya are there.

Get in your... Nope, you're not there.

I'm here, you're right there.

- Sid is just Sidding right now.

This is just typical Sid behavior.

Very high-strung.

She has delegated herself
to be the delegator.

Rabya, you're in the front.

- But she doesn't know the moves yet.
- She's gonna learn the moves.

I'm not gonna switch my spots.

Sid, stop dictating, dictator!
- I'm not! I'm a professional.

- Can we start it?
- Yeah, okay.

- Wait, she said what?

Tap, tap.

No, no, nope.

Get your counts right.

You've gotta be kidding me.

I'm really hoping that
we can keep our professionality

and work with each other
without k*lling one another.

- My gosh!
- And we do it better!

You guys,
we'll walk through the whole thing?

- Yes.
- Five, six, seven, take off.

One, two, three, four.

- Down.
- One. Really?

- Good job!
- You got it, Rab.

- No, she messed up this part twice.

So one more time, let's run it through.

- Please, please, please.
- From the back, five, six, seven.

Up, one.

Perfect.

- We did it!
- Okay, we got it.

We did it, yes!

- We got it.
- I think we're ready.

That's what I wanna see!
What does it look like?

- Wow, Shak, the first time
you're ever hosting anything.

- I'm so happy that we're all
finally under one roof

having the Eid together
since we were children.

Because of everyone's
geographical locations,

I know it's been difficult
for all of us to be together

under one roof during Eid.
- Finally together. After 18 years!

- But this, we have all of us,
we have Qais, we have Josh.

I'm so thankful
that everyone is on the same page.

It makes my heart truly,
truly, truly ecstatic and happy.

Thank you.

We have surprises coming up.

Surprises, surprises, surprises.

You get a surprise! You get a surprise!

So right now, let's go outside.
- Where's my surprise?

We should sit down

and take some snacks.
- You're the surprise. You're here.

- Let's get this party started.
- Yeah.

- Let's go get something.

- Hay, babe, can you hold this?
These heels are...

My God! It looks so beautiful!

My God!

- I didn't even see this out here.

It looks gorgeous!

- Surprise!

- Absolutely stunning.
- Absolutely, right?

Remember, during Ramadan,

when we had to wake up
in the middle of the night to eat

and Rabya went around with the pan
and she would...

- Nobody wanted to get up.

- That was at three o'clock
in the morning.

- Well, that's because
you had to wake up for Suhur.

Hey, religion is important.

Sacrifices. Religion is important.

I wish religion was as important
to my sisters as it is to me.

Sometimes they'll be like,
"Khadija, can you pray for me?

You know, you're our prayer warrior."

And I'll be like,
"Girl, I don't have a direct line to God,

you can pray too."

Khadija is sister number three.

And she's one of the elders.

But she also is another mom to us...

- If you add vinegar,
it actually cleans them better.

- because she helped raise us.

- Cut that a little less sloppy looking,
like, take your time with it.

- So the amount of respect
and reverence I have for her is...

I'm definitely more protective
over my sisters.

I'm the official blocker.

My husband hates that word.
He said if I use it, he'll k*ll me.

I'm the official...

blocker.

She doesn't really get
a chance to enjoy too much life,

'cause she's so constantly worrying
about every sister.

- Sometimes they like it,

and sometimes they're like,
"Well, we told you for nothing."

And I'm like, "Well,
then you shouldn't have told me.

I didn't need the stress."

So Shakur and Josh
have decided not to get a divorce,

and he's lucky
that he's getting a second chance.

Josh has a lot to prove right now.

After all of that time,
and me wiping away your tears,

now you're just gonna
forget about everything

and it's just water under the bridge?

What changed overnight?

Let's do Esfand, everybody.

Felt like I'm saying
we're getting Esfand.

- All right, I'm first because
I'm the most beautiful

and everyone always stares at me.

I can't get the Evil Eye.

- So what Mom is doing is called Esfand.

She says a prayer, goes everyone's heads
to protect you from the Evil Eye.

And then, afterwards, you put it
on the foil which is on top of the stove,

so you absorb the smoke.

And then it's supposed to cleanse you
and remove any Evil Eye.

- I just want the blessing from my mom

to bless Josh and I
in a happy and peaceful marriage.

And it feels nice
to have my mom do that for us.

Keep the Esfand near.

Wait. One at a time.

- You can't all be there.
- Go.

- One tap, one tap, one tap.
- Okay, okay. I'm done. I'm done.

Quick, quick, quick.

Took part of your hair.

Oooh! Hamida!

It flamed on mine?

Girl, that sh*t caught on fire!

- Like whoosh!
- Really?

Who you messing with, girl?

Oooh, someone put
something on you bad!

You're scaring me.

I know that
someone's put an Evil Eye on her,

like, something is not right,

something needs to get cleansed out,

because what's going on with you,

sssh, Esfand just told you, girl.

Girl!

Go... Go for round two.

It caught on flames
as soon as you walked on.

Hurry, hit it again!

Hit it again, girl.

Shakur is really
freaking me out right now.

And I am the only sister
that this is happening to.

Someone got something on you, girl.

Damn, we got some Evil Eyes on us!

Someone's got something on you, girl.

Hamida, it launched at you.

We better say some extra prayers

- and get that off of you.
- Yeah.

- Now that we're all cleansed...

- Do Surah al-Jinn 21 days in a row...

- Send it to me.
- And that'll remove it.

When it comes to my culture,
I do find conflict with balance.

I'm a modern woman,
but I'm also very much a traditional one,

which is why
it kinda makes it difficult for me

to kinda understand
how I feel about exploring and what not.

- I can't, because even saying it out loud

makes me feel like
I'm doing something wrong.

And it sucks.

Okay.

Okay, Mom,
we did this dance for you

and we hope you love it
and it reminds you of Afghanistan.

Okay, ready? Positions, ladies.

Wow, I'm gonna always remember this.

I have all my sisters on Eid,
and my mom, and we're dancing together.

- Shakur, thank you so much!

- Mom, I can't believe you danced.

I've never seen Mom dance.

- I loved it!

Mom, are you happy
we're all together, finally?

- Thank you, Mom.
- Thank you, Mama.

Aw.

- Educated, beautiful, nice.

Aw.

- Thank you, Mama. We love you.

- I love you too.

- Women in our culture
who have children out of wedlock,

they're shunned.

And the last thing that I want
is to lose my family.

I feel like I may be taking
this journey by myself.

And I'm scared because
I don't wanna be abandoned.

I think it's safe to say
it was a perfect day.

- Absolutely.
- Eid Mubarak.

- Looking around just makes me realize

how important it is
to have my family there,

and I don't wanna lose anyone
because of my secret.

And I really wanna tell them,
but just not today.

- So, brother, how does it feel,

your first Eid with the entire family?
- It's amazing.

It took Qais 18 years
to get this kind of Eid.

And you got it that quick.
How do you feel?

- I feel lucky.
- Thank you.

- Eid is a really important holiday,

and to have Josh just integrate
back into the family,

things are moving kinda fast for me.

We just kind of submerged you
into the culture.

Is that... Is that something
very foreign to you

or is it... is it exciting?

- You love it?
- Yeah, I love it.

Well, can't you tell with his garb?

- There are behavior patterns
that need to be addressed

and there is healing
that needs to take place.

And I don't think
Shakur has gone through that.

I love how you're so chill about it.

I'm sure with so many women,
men would just be so scared,

they'd probably run away,
like, "What is going on?"

I think they'd see all the women

and be like,
"Too much estrogen."

- I see my sisters kind of picking at J

and kind of trying to get
a reaction out of him,

and I kind of see
what games they're playing at.

But I just want them to look at him
for who they fell in love with

in the very beginning,

and understand
that everyone deserves a second chance.

- There's a lot to discuss,
especially Josh,

everything he's put everybody through.

And I'm kind of walking on eggshells

because I know
that she's in a happier place

that she's with Josh,

but I have to protect her.

There are just red flags.

And I can't just forgive that easily.

Woooo!

- Pshhh!

I love me some English boys.

Hello, mate, how are you?

- What?

- Sisters in Sonoma!

- This is sisterhood.
They're my best friends.

- Everybody, turn your back to Shakur.

Get the outta here.

Yeah, we had our quarrels...

- Cheers, ladies.
- Hope she follows through. Hold on.

There's something...
- Hold on to a cheers?

Geez!
- All right, fine, cheers.

- but we don't go to bed without saying
how proud we are of each other.

- I just wanted to see you.

My God,
Mom's gonna see this and...

- Hello, all you beautiful people,

we only have four days left
until our big charity event.

We're trying to raise awareness
for female refugees.

- Ta-da!

- Nooreya,
you look so much like Cinderelly.

Rabya, you look like
one of the step-sisters, low key.

I'm not gonna lie.

Having nine sisters,

everything you do
is always under a microscope.

You deserve to be a wife
before you deserve to be a mother.

- I was afraid that
you were gonna bring culture into this.

- Respect yourself, respect your p*ssy.
- I...

In our religion,
there's a lot of stigmas.

They shunned us.

- That's because in our culture...
- It's ignorance.

- unfortunately,
women don't have much value.
Exactly.

Is this part of me that I hide?

- Don't deny it, please.

- It's hard.

You gonna talk sh*t about me,
you're trying to bring me down?

Girl, I will cut you off with a quickness.

- I don't trust you,
that's why I don't talk to you about sh*t.

- I wanna be done with this scene.
I wanna get off the mic.

Siddiqa, stop walking.

Let me talk to you.
Why are you running away?

Just talk to you.

- I came to say sorry!
- You broke the pact.

You're a fraud.

- All right, I'm done with this.

- See? Fake, just what I said.

- This is not the way
this family is supposed to operate.

Everyone, take off their mics.

Have a private conversation.

Rip it off.

- Come take it off.
I'm not gonna ask you again.

- My God, I'm overwhelmed.
- Jamila, we did it!

- Jamila wants
to be the only successful sister.

I knew you'd be a hater.

You speak family
but you act like a nemesis.

- You did nothing!

- You started, instigator.

You're about yourself. You're nobody.

She's a snake.
No, you're disgusting.

- Who are you lying to?

- This is sisterhood.

We thought doing a reality show
would strengthen our bond,

but honestly,
I don't know how we got here.

Damn.
