Both are lawyers by
day, bot-builders by night.
I haven't seen this
bot since 2019,
And double jeopardy
is so unique.
It uses a cannon that fires
projectile slugs at 220 miles per hour.
It only has a few shots,
But bryce and evan are hopin it
only needs one to disable ribbot.

slip the frogs of w*r.
It's ribbot.

[chris] aw, ribbot, it's
everybody's friendly frog...
Oh, look at this. They're playing a
little gam of leapfrog on their way out
Kenny, ribbot is undoubtedl
the favorite here tonight.
What do they need to do
to take care of business?
[kenny] well, ribbot
needs to be a moving target
To avoid direct shots
from those slugs,
And once double jeopardy
has expended its a*mo,
Look for ribbot
to go "full attack".
Mike tyson once said,
"everybody has a plan until
they get punched in the mouth,"
So we hope that everybody has a plan as a
corollary until they get shot in the face.
So, no matter what
ribbot throws at us,
We're ready for it.
There's a nice big
weak spot on ribbot.
On the side of their
robot, the drive is exposed.
The chains and the
sprockets are right there.
If we get a nice
shot on a broadside,
We think we can
disable their drive
And maybe even knock them out.
Literally from the
beginning of the match,
They can decide to take
a shot, right at the start.
Um, also, as we're driving around the box,
at any point, they might be able to hit us.
That's definitely unique just to double
jeopardy. No other bot can do that.
We decided to put on our
horizontal spinner attachment.
In this configuration, you
have the most frontal armor.
We figured, if there's ever a
time to put on our front shields,
Right now would be the time.
We don't wanna just win it, we
wanna win it in a confident fashion.
We really wanna give
ourselves that confidence boost
Going forward into the bracket.
[robot voice] robots activat
[loud cheering]
[chris] well, it's been a while
Since we've seen double
jeopardy inside the battlebox.
They've made some major
improvements to their cannon.
[kenny] that's right. It used
to be a one-and-don weapon,
But now it fires
a five-pound slug
And two 2.5-lb projectiles.
They've also added an onboard
camera for precision accuracy,
Which they'll desperately ne
if they wanna dissect this frog.
[robot voice] red team ready.
[crowd cheers intensify]
Blue team ready.
Hell, yeah.
[loud cheering and applause]

[chris] all right. You
gotta win three matches
To take down lock-jaw
at the end of the night,
And only one bot will be punching
its ticket to the golden bolt tournament.

Double jeopardy moving

It's just blown the face
off the ribbot. My goodness
It was 220 miles an
hour with a 5-lb slug,
And now ribbot says,

And it looks angry.

Those secondary slugs

to fire those extra slugs.

Let's start with malice.
Bunny sauriol leads

Malice is coming off a
disappointing sophomore season
That saw them take
a big step backwards.
They need a strong
showing in this tournament
To prove that they can hang
with the top bots in this sport.
[kenny] yeah, absolutely. Malice is
an intimidating horizontal disc spinner
With a lot of potential, but they've
been plagued with inconsistency
And mechanical issues.
With the possibility of
fighting four times tonight,
They have an opportunity to put
those failures in the rear-view mirror.
In the meantime, craig
danby is back with slammo,
And it had been a frustrating
ride for several seasons
For craig danby.
A year ago, he felt like he
had a big-time breakthrough.
[kenny] yeah, he loves this bot.
And when slammo can execute
its game plan by getting in lifts
And keeping its
opponents neutralized,
It can really dominate
the control category.
But wins have been elusive for
this squad, and an early exit here
Could be the death
nail for this grappler bot.

has that psychedelic wedge up front.

She is a highly respected
captain in this sport,

"that rabbit is dynamite."
[kenny] yeah, let me tell yo those bunny
ears are cute, but that weapon is not!
It's made of three-inch-thic
ar500 steel, and it hoicks!
If they can keep it spinning
which we know is a big if,
The battlebox could look like a
scrapyard by the end of this match.
Malice has got one of
those big horizontal weapons
That we don't really
like, being a control bot.
I mean, we're armored for
it, but, uh, the team behind it
Is probably scarier
than the robot itself.
The golden bolt definitely signifies
that you know what you're doing.
You can get things turned
around really quickly,
That you can accomplish a goal
in a very short amount of time.
Slammo and malice are a little
bit of a different class of robot.
Slammo is very
much about control
And malice is about
smashing things.
There's gonna be nothing left of
slammo when malice is done with it.

So, if you notice
that big giant wedge,
One of the things they call
that, is that's the bunny boiler.
They are going to be running this
as fast as they can across this box
One of the things
that's changed, also,
Is they've gone to a
larger diameter rear wheel
Which should give
them higher acceleration
And faster speed across the box.
The bunny boiler! You've
just sent michael douglas
Scurrying under the bed.

taking bite out of the wedge of slammo.

he's got one other tire.

And the pulverizer
nearly derailed slammo.

Of keeping malice off balanc with its
wedge. Even on just one wheel, chris.

Yeah, they sure are, they're
kinda going round in circles there.
Malice gets some
good hits there.

Both slammo and malice, they've

maximize our mobility.

bot battle begin.
Deep six takes a deep
momen of reflection.
[kenny] om.
[chris] now pointing
that blade at the frog.
Deep six trying to
stay squared up.
Ribbot might have
missed an opportunity
To get under him.
[kenny] yeah, looks like they
were trying to attack from the side.
Obviously showing great respect
For that weapon on deep six
And you see deep six
having a gy-roll there where
[chris] uh-oh!
[kenny] take advantage...
Nice shot there by deep six
[chris] yeah and that
face is already done in.
It's a face only a mother
fr could love at this point.
[kenny] dustin esswein
doing an incredible job
Keeping deep six
squared up to ribbot here,
Keeping david jin at bay.
[chris] and ribbot
just cannot get around.
Ribbot rolls over
one of the legs.
[kenny] oh, there they go.
They're looking for that side.
[chris] yeah. Oh, they misse
They overshot the runway, kenny.
[kenny] yeah, they're
trying to cut throug
On those stabilizing legs
on the side of deep six.
[chris] trying to
avoid the middle.
To say that big
blade is a deterrent
Is an understatement.
One shot form that thing
could certainly end this fight.
[kenny] we've got
a standoff here.
Which one of these bots
is going to flinch first?
[chris] the tension
building in the arena
As these fans wait for
the next big exchange.
[kenny] ribbot staying patient.
[chris] at some point
Somebody's gonna
have to make the move
And that's gotta be ribbot.
[chris and kenny] oh!
Nice! Go in, go in, go in!
[chris] what a sensational move
And now back under it.
[kenny] oh!
[chris] unbelievable as ribbot has
got deep six pinned against the screws.
[kenny] and look at this, ribbot
missing a wheel on that left-front side.
[chris] can deep six
wiggle out of here?
Ribbot threatening
with that under cutter.
Oh, the grind.
[kenny] dustin esswein escap but
ribbot took a wheel off deep six there.
[chris] deep six is
hobbled after that sequence.
Ribbot surveying the territory.
A minute left to go in
this high-stakes fight.
Winner moves on
to face lock-jaw.
Both bots have taken damage
Operating on one less wheel
Than they started
the match with.
Kenny, ribbot back hanging,
perhaps waiting for a count out here.
Can they afford not
to attack, though?
[kenny] well, deep six
Clearly showing enough
movement to avoid a count out.
Ribbot cannot assume
They're ahead on
the scorecards here
And if they don't try and engage
It could really hurt them
in the aggression category
If this goes to the judges.
[chris] deep six
trying to sticker the fight
[referee] you gotta
show me you can move.
[chris] but the ref
is issuing a warning.
And here comes that countdow
[referee] ten,
nine, eight, seven...
[chris] dustin esswein
with a look of despair
Because his season
is about to end.
[referee] one! Knockout!
[buzzer sounds]
[chris] ribbot is moving
on to face lock-jaw.
[kenny whistles]
patience pays off.
[chris] kenny, this was
lik a wild west showdown
To start and it was
deep si who struck first.
[kenny] yeah, pinned
ribbot against the rail
And look at that,
ripped its face off. Wow.
But ribbot shook it
off and used its speed
To get behind deep
six for the pivotal shot.
Woo!
[chris] deep six
going for a ride

And then ribbot finished it
By jamming him against
the screws and the rails
And then just gnawing
on that tiny wheel.
[kenny] credit to dustin
esswein for a hell of a fight,
But this was a masterclass
in patience from ribbot.
David jin stuck to his game plan
And deep six was
stuck to the floor.
Got a little bit too
close to the middle.
That got real spooky.
[chris] david jin...
Man, you have more
patience than the two of us.
-[laughs] -we're like,
"when's he going in?"
"when's he going..."
Was it difficult to
hold back there?
Yeah, I mean, well,
it's not that difficult.
We're pretty scared
of deep six's weapon
So we didn't really wanna
risk getting hit by that.
Dustin did a really, really
good job controlling the gyro
And staying on us.
He never over turned.
He never turned too little.
Given how uncontrollable
deep six sometimes can be,
I think that's huge
props to dustin there.
[crowd cheering]
I waited as long as I could.
He wasn't giving me an opening
So eventually we had to kind
of go a little extra aggressive.
All right, so, now
you've won three fights.
The goal tonight is to win four.
You ready to face a legend
in lock-jaw and donald hutson?
Oh, yeah. We're ready.
Yeah!
[chris] you're not
scared of the legend?
I mean... I think I
said this last year.
You can't always drive
in fear so no, not really.
- Ah, okay.
- I like that.
We'll see you in the
gold bolt qualifier.

Ribbot will move on to

And face tonight's

And I'll tell you, kenny, even
though deep six's run ends here
They put on one hell of a show.
[kenny] and they
basically accumulated
A full season's worth of
experience here in just one night
With their 2-1 record.
I can't wait to see what
they bring to the tabl
In next season's
world championship.
[chris] all right, coming up...
They have run the gauntlet,
they have won the tournament
Now they have to
take down a legend
To earn a shot
at the golden bolt.
Ribbot, lock-jaw, it is nex on

But that's not enough.

Lock-jaw is one of the
legendary bots of the sport.

been arou for a long time.
He's been competing in this longer than
some of our teammates have been alive.

Lock-jaw's incredible. I mean,
we've all been watching him
Since we were kids.
Donald hutson is a legend.
Bundles and bundles
of respect for donald.
He's one of the best builder
probably in the history of the sport.
[bunny] lock-jaw is
not just configurable
But it's also
perfectly beautiful.
[chris] whoa! What a shot!
Unbelievable, the

He's ruthless.

between ribbot and lock-jaw
And of course lock-jaw
checks all the boxes here.
They won a bounty tournament
they won the desperado
And when you look at lock-jaw's
Overall body of
work in this sport,
Few are more deserving of
this position as gatekeeper,
But despite all of donald's
accolades and accomplishments,
He wants nothing more
Than to add the golden
bolt to his trophy case.
[kenny] absolutely.
Donald has been a titan
in this sport for 25 years.
David jin is only 23.
So, you can do the math here
Experience obviously is
on team lock-jaw's side,
But last season was a struggle.
Donald missed out
On the world
championship tournament
For the first time in
his battlebots caree
And he is out for
redemption here
In the sin city slugfest.
[chris] but this is
gonna b a real challenge
Because ribbot,
engineered by david jin,
What a remarkable
Perfect regular season,
Ended up being the number tw overall
seed heading into the round of 32.
Their early exit at the hands of
hydra was a tough bug to swallow,
But they've picked up the pieces
And taken out their ribbity
rage on tonight's opponents
And now they're only one win
away from a shot at immortality.
[kenny] ribbot is the
ultima swiss army bot.
Like a true amphibian
it is endlessly adaptable
So there's no question
that tonight's performance
Has solidified ribbot's stat as
a rising superstar in this sport,
But we know they
won't be satisfied
Until they are
crowned a champion.

Make the biggest
leap of its career?
Or will lock-jaw join
the field of champions
And potentially takes its place

weapon and hits you with a slam

bosse and let's be honest,
This man is a golden god and wants

to slow down horizontal spinners

he's gone with here.
And of course he's got that
heavy-duty vertical spinner
That packs so much power.

the best in the world

Lock-jaw's one
of the unique bots
That can prepare for
both a vertical spinner
And a horizontal spinner
'cause while they're
running the rear plow
They can also run their
forks on the other side.
I think he has the
experience to be ready for us,
Although no one is ever
truly ready for the frog,
So we'll have to see.
I think what you'll
see is us come out
And try a little bit of
a defensive strategy
To get him off his comfort zone
And then move in for the attack.
Ribbot has definitely
earned his spot
To come against lock-jaw,
But this is where it has to end.

Was pretty simple and effective.
[kenny] yeah, that's right.
Ribbot went right for those wheels.
He had him inverted there.
He was in a tough spot.
Got stuck into the
battlebo at one point,
And ribbot just took
full advantage of that.
[chris] they went
after one tire, two tire...
Couple of big flips
and at that point
Lock-jaw and donald hutson, one of
the legendary driver in this business
There was nothing he could d
Because his bot has
just literally gone flat
Dude, you know I got that
tokyo drift music on in my brain.
- [chris] david jin.
- Hello.
You just demolished
a legend and rode to
To a chance to play
for the golden bolt.
How's that feel?
Pretty good. Right, guys?
[together] yeah!
David, what have you learned
about your weapon this year?
It seems so ferocious.
We learned that it hits
harder than it ever has before.
It also spins up faster
than it ever has before.
So far, so good.

right for those tires.
Was that the game plan here?
Yeah, we knew the rear wedge was
gonna be really tough to get through
So we were hoping
to get the tires early on.
Seems like we
were able to do that.
It took a little
bit to get around
To the other side.
Obviously donald is
a very talented driver,
But luckily we were able
to get there in the end.
I know it didn't go your
way as you were searching
For the giant nut this season, but now
you have a chance at the golden bolt.
You have to beat a
bunch of world champions
In order to get there.
Are you up for the challenge?

They've watched us for years and they've
raised the bar with all the new technology
And, you know, it's
getting down to metals
And, you know, heat treating
And just arrangement
of the designs
To be interchangeable
which is what they do well
And, you know,
my hat's off to them.
They're keeping up
And I'm slowly gonna
have to catch my wind
And get back in there
If I'm gonna be
competitive, so...
