Hey, everybody, and welcome
to BattleBots Fight Night,

where chaos is
our engine of choice.

I'm Chris Rose,
and I'm here with a man

who's been known to cause
a little chaos

inside the octagon,
UFC legend Kenny Florian.

Well, I also was on the
receiving end a few times,

and if you want chaos,
take a look

at the insane fight card
we have lined up tonight,

especially the heavy hitters
in tonight's main event.

The 2015 champs, Paul
Ventimiglia and Bite Force,

are gonna run smack
into Jack Barker,

the boy wonder from New Zealand
and his bot, End Game.

He's just laid waste to
everyone in his path so far.

CHRIS:
Yeah, young Jack Barker

has set this competition
on fire,

calling out the biggest names
in the sport

and saying,
"This is my time, fellas.

Bring it on."

He'll have his shot
to put his money

where his mouth is this evening

when he squares up against
the undefeated former champ.

And we've got a great
undercard for you tonight.

Charles Guan, the former
M.I.T. engineer, and Overhaul,

squaring off against
Zoe Stephenson

and her flame-throwing bot,
Chomp.

KENNY:
They each took
an uncharacteristic beating

in their last fight.

It's gonna be fireworks
as they both look

for redemption here.

CHRIS:
We've also got Whiplash

versus Mecha Rampage.

Grizzled veteran
of the BattleBox

Christian Carlberg faces off
against a kid half his age,

young driving prodigy
Matt Vasquez and Whiplash,

a cutting-edge robot with
an articulating weapon

that can lift, smash
and uppercut opponents

in the blink of an eye.

And take a look at
Sawblaze versus Mohawk.

That weapon on Sawblaze
has been a terror so far,

going 2-0 and leaving a trail

of smoking metal in its wake.

Couple that with
the flames of Mohawk,

and we're gonna enter
the danger zone.

Better put the fire department
on speed dial for this one.

You know what, maybe make
that the National Guard.

Good call, Kenny.

All right, let's light
this candle already.

Starting with two bots trying
to rise from the ashes,

Son of Whyachi taking on Lucky.

Son of Whyachi is one
of the most destructive

full-body spinners
we've ever seen.

It's basically
a helicopter blade

that dares you
to even get close to it.

But after getting flipped
on its head in its first fight,

Whyachi now draws,
wouldn't you know it,

a flipper in this one.

That's a tough break, Kenny.

KENNY:
Yeah, Lucky is
a powerful flipper

with 5 tons of pressurized
force in that weapon.

It's built like a tank
and can definitely take a punch,

which makes this matchup even
more challenging for Whyachi.

This should be a tactical fight,

and one that both bots
badly need to win

to keep their chances of
making the top 16 alive.

CHRIS:
For both, this could be
do or die.

Faruq, let's do this, my man.

[CROWD CHEERING]

Ladies and gentlemen,
are you ready?

It's robot-fighting time!

In the red square,

it'll bowl you over
like a game of bocce,

grill you up like
a sizzling hibachi.

This bot's great,
it's Son of Whyachi!

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Kenny, Team Whyachi
actually manufactures

many of the gearboxes and motor
controllers used by the bots

in this competition.

KENNY:
That's right, Clint Ewert
told me, quote,

"Anyone who can afford
to use our products does."

In the blue square,
hearts, stars and horseshoes,

clouds and blue moons,
pots of gold and rainbows,

then this bot kills you.

He's got me feeling charmed.
It's Lucky!

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

CHRIS:
It looks like
Lucky is sporting

a few new accessories
tonight, Kenny.

KENNY:
Yeah, they added
that titanium wedge

on the backside with the hope
that it will absorb the brunt

of Son of Whyachi's hits
and slow that spinner down.

To be honest,
we're a little scared.

They hit real hard.

There's some matches that you
want to go in and control,

and some you just
want to survive.

We're looking to have
them burn their energy

chasing us around,
spinning up their weapon.

If you knew Muhammad Ali,
we're looking to do

a little bit
of a rope-a-dope strategy.

The strategy against Lucky
is gonna be try to get

to the sides of his wedge lids
and his front corner,

try to spin him around.

As long as I'm hitting him
and knocking him away from me,

not letting him get
any flips on my main body,

I shouldn't get flipped over.

[♪♪♪]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Luke Ewert is taking
the reigns as captain

from his dad this year,
but after an 0-1 start,

he really needs to win
this one tonight

to uphold the reputation
for both his bot and his team.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Red team, ready.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Blue team, ready.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

[♪♪♪]

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight, fight...

[BUZZER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Here comes Lucky trying
to get around the back.

And he feeds that big wedge
to Son of Whyachi.

KENNY:
Lucky does not want that spinner

to spin up too much.
CHRIS: Oh!

It's already spinning, dude.

But that wedge is
holding up nicely.

KENNY:
Yeah, Lucky's
staying squared up.

There's an opening.
Oh, big hit!

CHRIS:
Whyachi took a wheel
off Lucky there.

KENNY:
Oh, there goes a spark.

CHRIS:
That thing just flew
right in our face.

KENNY: Whoa!
CHRIS: Holy smokes, Lucky.

KENNY: Wow!
CHRIS: There's pieces of Lucky

flying all over the BattleBox.

[CROWD YELLING]
KENNY & CHRIS: Oh!

KENNY:
Whyachi hurt Lucky
with that shot, Chris.

CHRIS:
Oh! Look at that damage.

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: Oh, my God!

I can't believe Lucky
has lasted this long.

To Lucky's credit,
he just keeps taking a ticking.

He's like, "Come on, keep
punching me in the face,

I love me some pain!"

There's more shrapnel than
a Schwarzenegger movie, Kenny.

KENNY [LAUGHS]:
Lucky taking a lot of shots.

Aw, that's gotta be
the knockout blow right there.

Throw in the towel!

CHRIS:
But Whyachi, hungry for more.

Oh, no! Look out!
Duck under the table!

This is a m*ssacre, Chris.

Son of Whyachi just
punishing Lucky.

Lucky's gotta be finished,
Chris.

The countdown has
got to be coming.

CHRIS:
But here comes Son of Whyachi.

This guy has no remorse.

KENNY & CHRIS:
Oh!

CHRIS:
Son of Whyachi adding
insult to injury.

REFEREE: Ten, nine, eight...
KENNY: Wow.

CHRIS:
Here comes the countdown.

Finally they've come
to their senses.

Lucky is lucky
they're stopping this fight.

...one, knockout.

[BUZZER BUZZES]

CHRIS:
And that's just the way
Son of Whyachi drew it up.

KENNY:
That is a mean, mean bot.

CHRIS:
Kenny, are we really surprised
at the result?

Son of Whyachi is
just so powerful.

KENNY:
Yeah, I mean, Lucky had a plan

to absorb some punishment
and wear down Whyachi,

but you've got to be careful
who you play rope-a-dope with,

because the strategy doesn't
work if your opponent

rips your face off before
you can launch an offensive.

Lucky just couldn't prevent
Whyachi from getting up

to top speed.

Let's just hope they can rebuild

that after this insane
amount of damage.

[ALL CHEERING]

I feel like it's only
appropriate that I, myself,

have a mohawk to drive
a robot with a mohawk.

Now, I figure the guy with
the mohawk's probably the best

at giving somebody
else a mohawk.

I don't do hair, so...

He doesn't do his own mohawk.

He has somebody do it for him.

I've literally never
done hair in my life.

Sawblaze and Mohawk
are getting all fired up.

Their bout now
just moments away.

Kenny, Sawblaze
a perfect 2-0

so far in the regular season.

KENNY:
Yeah, Jamison Go is on fire
this year.

That diamond-tipped saw blade
is one of the most effective

weapons in the competition,
capable of delivering

thousands of micro cuts
per second.

A true challenge
for Mohawk and Max Bales.

Mohawk's off
to a rough start at 0-1,

but, Kenny, we did see some
flashes of what this bot can do

in its recent rumble.
KENNY: Yeah, that front wedge

on Mohawk is designed

to get under its opponents
and feed them straight into

its sharp, crushing weapon.

Max Bales is looking to put
himself on the map tonight

with a win, but honestly,
he's gonna have to deliver

an inspired driving performance

to overcome the power
of Sawblaze in this one.

rock beats scissors,

scissors beat paper.

This is a stupid game, because
fire and saw beats 'em all!

It's Sawblaze!

CHRIS:
Kenny, if Jamison gets
another win tonight,

he'll be the first bot
to go 3-0.

Let's see if he can pull it off.

In the blue square,
welcome to the rumble,

this bot's fun and flames.

Its axle and slash will
have you dizzy straddling.

Here to bring the
November pain, it's Mohawk!

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

CHRIS:
When you look at Mohawk,

apparently this is
a cutting-free zone.

KENNY:
Yeah, Max has added
two strips of Kevlar

to the top of Mohawk.

He told us that the
different layers of material

should cause wear and tear
to the blade of Sawblaze

and make it less effective.

So our strategy is
gonna be very similar

to how we handled
our fight with Overhaul.

We're gonna avoid
the front end,

do our best to not get caught
in their jaws,

go around the side

and try to deal some crippling
blows with our saw blade.

My plan to beat Sawblaze

is really to try
to control the match.

I noticed that they got
some dings on their plow,

so that might help us
get under that.

If they got under us,
we might be in a bad position,

so try to just out-drive them.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Oh, yeah, Kenny,
look at those flames!

KENNY:
Yeah, that thing is deadly.

The tip of that crushing
weapon is a flamethrower

and capable of major
internal damage.

Let's see what it
can do tonight.

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight, fight...

Yeah!

[BUZZER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Here comes Mohawk, charging
out in a burst of flames.

And, uh-oh, Sawblaze
cuts right into it.

KENNY:
Sawblaze is just so low
to the ground,

able to get underneath
Mohawk immediately.

CHRIS:
And throwing him
into the screws,

and good driving by Max Bales
to get out of there.

Oh, but he can't
get out of that one,

gets squarely taken
into the rails.

KENNY:
And that saw not able
to penetrate

the Kevlar upgrade
on Mohawk, Chris.

We'll see if that changes
Sawblaze's strategy.

CHRIS:
Sawblaze back on the attack.

Oh, he's got him
in the corner.

Watch out for
the pulverizer, Mohawk.

Lift up, Chris,
hammer, hammer.

CHRIS:
That's a hundred-pound hammer
dropping.

Oh! Right on your head. Ow! Ow!

Not the type of haircut
Mohawk wanted today.

KENNY:
Big shots there
from that hammer.

Sawblaze letting the
BattleBox do its work.

This time Mohawk able to
get underneath Sawblaze,

CHRIS:
Almost gets him into the screws,
does Sawblaze.

And now he's cutting through!

We got major sparks!
I wanna see some fire

out of the beak of Mohawk!

Let's see it fire that thing up.

KENNY:
Well, no Kevlar protection
on the back of Mohawk, Chris.

Sawblaze has the precision
of a surgeon.

And could you get me his number?

I've been thinking about
getting some work done.

CHRIS:
Sawblaze, so far more
than a minute into this match,

in total control.

Mohawk looking pretty--
But, oh, getting taken

into the screws.

Uh-oh, Sawblaze trying
to dig right into that spot,

into the no-cutting zone.

Can't you read, Sawblaze?
[KENNY CHUCKLES]

KENNY:
Mohawk on the attack.
Great driving from Sawblaze.

CHRIS:
Halfway through
the three-minute round.

Oh, Mohawk getting
tipped over on his side.

Whoa!
KENNY: It's getting hot in here.

CHRIS:
Sawblaze performing a vasectomy
on Mohawk!

KENNY:
Oh, that's not good.
That is not good for Mohawk.

He is slicing... [LAUGHS]

CHRIS:
Look at Max Bales' head!

KENNY:
He's almost impressed.

CHRIS:
Oh! Oh, my gosh, what a mark
it left on the bottom.

Mohawk gonna get
counted out on this one.

Ten, nine, eight, seven...
KENNY: Wow!

CHRIS:
What a performance
from Jamison Go and Sawblaze.

Ladies and gentlemen,

a new level of annihilation.

KENNY:
He retreats back
to his red square

like a boss, wow.

CHRIS:
How good a driver is Jamison Go?

Because, I mean, that's
how you totally control

the tempo of a fight.

KENNY:
Offensive driving.
He was very aggressive.

When he needed to use his
defensive driving skills,

he was able to do it,
like he did right there,

backing up beautifully.

Just tremendous knowledge
of his body.

He knows exactly
what he needs to do

offensively, defensively.

There he is getting that hammer
to smash the beak of Mohawk.

He has done his homework
here.

Jamison Go knows exactly
how to use this bot.

Look at that blade just
cut through Mohawk!

CHRIS:
That is a first, get somebody
over on its side

and then cut the bottom.

Let's go down to Jessica Chobot
with the winner.

JESSICA:
Jamison, you pretty much
dominated the whole time.

Why is it that you guys think

you're being so successful
this year?

I still think that our design
is a little weird.

Saw bots, people don't
expect saw robots,

and we also have kind
of a dust-pan design,

which hasn't been really
introduced to BattleBots

for several years.

So we're good against
the current meta of machines,

so as long as things
stay the way they are,

I think we're gonna
keep seeing success.

All right, well, you're 3-0.

I think
there's a new crowd favorite,

Rand its name is Sawblaze.

Not only a crowd favorite,

And he's now 3-0,

setting himself up
for a spot in the top 16.

CHRIS:
And speaking of the top 16,
you can guarantee

at least one of our main-event
competitors will be in that mix.

Bite Force and End Game
are battling later tonight.

Let's take a closer look.

Here comes End Game! Oh!

People should be afraid of me

because of End Game's
massive weapon.

This is a 22kg hunk of steel,
and it spins at 6000 RPM.

And when that hits them, it's
gonna rip straight through them.

I definitely wouldn't want
to get hit by that.

CHRIS:
Oh, my God!

One hit was all it took,
are you kidding me?!

PAUL:
Bite Force, we try to have
the perfect blend

of offense and defense.
KENNY: Wow.

We're hard to face.
We always have

a good floor scraping wedge

or a really strong
defensive wedge,

And then couple that with a
really powerful weapon in front,

and it's hard to prepare
to fight us.

This looks like a souvenir
I could have,

it's $300 of switches, right?
Yeah, yeah.

No, no, I'll give you
the wheel.

Tonight we're going
up against End Game.

It's a really tough match.
Our robots are very similar.

We both have wedges
in the front.

We both have vertical
spinning weapons.

But I think they're certainly
a force to be reckoned with.

CHRIS:
Oh, there goes the wheel.

JACK:
The reputation for our team
is slowly building, I think.

KENNY:
Jack Barker showing
no mercy right now.

JACK:
If we can take down an
opponent like Bite Force,

I think it's gonna
put us on the map,

and people will know
to be scared

when we're in the arena
with them.

PAUL:
Our robot is out there to win.

We want to cause damage and
destruction along the way.

I feel a lot of pressure
on myself just from wanting

to deliver for all of my
teammates and supporters.

Our team is working really hard,
and we're ready for you.

KENNY:
Nice hit there by End Game.

JACK:
I like to think that
because we're younger,

we're really good at driving
and we're really fast.

Other competitors,
a lot of them are older,

so they're gonna make a mistake.

CHRIS: Oh!
KENNY: Wow!

JACK:
We're here to take down
some of the big names,

and we want to leave a mark.

So as soon as they
make a mistake,

we'll go straight in and attack.

Whiplash and Mecha Rampage

This is gonna be a matchup of
two uniquely designed robots.

Operated by 19-year-old
driving sensation Matt Vasquez,

Whiplash is vertical disk
spinner mounted on a lifting arm

with 180 degrees
of attack range.

This thing is incredible.

It's capable of
grappling, lifting,

and attacking opponents
from above.

Taking on Mecha Rampage tonight,

and the last time we saw
that bot...

Kenny, that's a fire!

...it was on fire,
you needed to grab

an extinguisher, put it out.

That was very nice
of you, by the way.

KENNY:
Uh, yeah, no problem.

They're back
and ready to go.

Mecha Rampage is unique because
it's a horizontal spinner,

but Christian has put
the weight of the batteries

and motors in the center
with his weapon bar.

When it gets to full speed,
he's actually spinning

the mass of half of his robot.

Mecha Rampage is
low to the ground,

and if it gets flipped,
it can operate fully inverted.

Should be a good one.

Let's head inside the box.

a crash with this bot

It's Mecha Rampage!

CHRIS:
Kenny, Mecha Rampage can

actually fire up to full speed
with its weapon

in less than three seconds.

KENNY:
Yeah, absolutely.

They want to do that
as quickly as possible,

and they want to do that
in the center of the BattleBox.

They know that if they
get up against the screws,

if they get knocked around,
they can damage themselves.

They want to keep this fight
in the very center of this box.

We're gonna box rush 'em.

We want to attack
the center section,

which is where his main
motors and batteries are,

'cause if he hits us,
it could be a one-hit fight.

[CHUCKLES]

What's great about
this bot, Mecha Rampage,

is I don't have to think
about driving.

Whiplash is gonna be
a big driving robot.

I'm gonna be
a big spinning robot.

My strategy is like
any good spinner:

You spin as fast as you can,

you get the to center
of the arena, and you do damage.

ROBOTIC VOICE:

CHRIS:
Mecha Rampage trying to get

Jeff Vasquez looking to remain
unbeaten with Whiplash.

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Whiplash fast out of the gate,
box rushing like he planned.

There's a big shot
on Mecha Rampage,

which cannot get that weapon
spinning up to full speed.

He's got him underneath
the pulverizer.

KENNY: Uh-oh.
CHRIS: Oh!

Oh! Whiplash looking
for the flip,

but Mecha Rampage
can drive inverted.

Flipping him will
not end this fight.

KENNY:
Chris, he is teeing him up
and laying him on his side.

Mecha Rampage might
be stuck here,

and that may be all she wrote.

Matt Vasquez just found
a cheat code

and immobilized
an invertible bot.

REFEREE:
Ten, nine, eight...

CHRIS:
And here comes the countdown!

The 19-year-old pins
Mecha Rampage with a maneuver

so incredible you would have
to see it to believe it.

...two, one, knockout.

[BUZZER BUZZES]
Yeah!

[♪♪♪]

CHRIS:
Whiplash with
an emphatic victory.

Matty Vasquez, the boy wonder,

just did a number on
the veteran Christian Carlberg.

Let's hear
what they have to say.

Jessica, down to you.

Vasquez family, that was
a super-fast knockout.

Yeah, we got really lucky.
We were really lucky.

The driver did the whole thing,
the robot worked.

Matthew,
what was your strategy?

Hit him before he got spun up,
so when I got him stuck,

I was going to leave
him there because

if he got spun up and hits us
a few times, we could be done.

We also tried
a new armor configuration

we've never tried before.

So this was a good test
to fight a spinner,

so if we fight another of one
of the big spinners later on,

we know that it works,
we can take a couple hits.

So we're a little bit more
confident moving on now.

The Vasquez family is riding a
wave, you guys! Congratulations.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

CHRIS:
And Whiplash moves to 2-0
in the current campaign

after another
strong victory tonight.

All right, coming up next,

Chomp set to collide
with Overhaul,

Kenny, Chomp comes
into this competition

hyped as one of the most
cutting-edge combat robots

of all time.

It's capable
of driving itself,

autonomously firing
its own hammer,

even automatically keeping
a safe distance

from its opponents.

But in its first fight,
none of that really mattered.

KENNY:
Yeah, unfortunately Chomp spent
much of that fight

against Warrior Dragon looking
like a turtle on its back

because of a problem with
its self-righting mechanism.

Her designer, Zoe Stephenson,
tells us

that she's worked out
that issue,

and the tech on Chomp
is all dialed in tonight.

Tough matchup, though,
for her tonight

with Charles Guan and Overhaul

because that is one bot that
can push you around the box.

KENNY:
That's right, Overhaul is both
a lifter and a grappler.

Those lower set of forks
can get underneath opponents

and lift or flip them,

and that grappling mechanism
on top

can clamp down
and immobilize a bot

and move them around the box.

CHRIS:
All right, Kenny, take us
through the keys to this match.

Okay, Overhaul has
a powerful drive train,

and he'll need to use
the box to his advantage

to earn damage points
in this one.

That grappling mechanism might
not be very effective here

because Chomp is
tall and wide,

making it difficult
to latch onto.

And for Chomp, that hammer is
able to cause a ton of damage

if it can land a direct shot.

It's built tough
and is able to withstand

getting knocked around,
but it's tall

with a high center of gravity,

so it spends a lot of time
on its side.

We saw that in that first fight,

if Chomp can't self-right
effectively in this one,

Zoe Stephenson could
be in trouble here.

And, you know,
the blueprint's kind of out

on how to beat Chomp now,

so I think that's what
was really concerning to Zoe.

Let's see if she's fixed it.

It's all about
adjustments, this game.

this bot's revered,

They do have issues with
their center of gravity.

After hits,
they tend to fall over.

My goal is to try
to keep them corralled,

keep them from self-righting

and hopefully Overhaul can
dodge a few hammer strikes.

The most important thing
for us against Overhaul

is really gonna be to have
self-righting working.

He's gonna try and turn us on
our side and keep us there,

so all night we've been
working on the self-righting.

Instead of just having the
winglets like we had last year,

or instead of having
the pistons like we had

in the Warrior Dragon fight,
we actually have both at once.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

CHRIS:
Three minutes, two bots.

Who can get the win to put
themselves into contention

for the 2018 world championship
tournament?

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight, fight...

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Oh, the flame coming out
of Chomp,

and a quick jab from Overhaul.

He's testing out the range
of that hammer.

I wouldn't get that close again.

Let's see if Chomp can
deliver a major shot,

something she did only once
in the loss to Warrior Dragon.

KENNY:
Overhaul trying to get around
to the side of Chomp.

There it is!
CHRIS: Oh, yeah!

KENNY:
There's a knockdown.

CHRIS:
Chomp struggles to self-right.

Oh, but she gets
taken into the screws!

This is the perfect strategy
for Charles Guan,

try to get her out of the arena!

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: Wow!

KENNY:
Overhaul has a hold of Chomp.

Watch out! Oh!

Big break there
for Zoe Stephenson.

Overhaul was looking
for that suplex maneuver,

now trying to go
back to the screws,

trying to send Chomp
out of the box here.

Can't quite get underneath.

CHRIS:
Thataway, Chomp.
She self-rights.

KENNY: Uh-oh!
CHRIS: Is Overhaul stuck?

Nope. Oh, Overhaul almost gets
nailed by the pulverizer

and now retreats to
the other side of the box.

Oh, Chomp, throwing that hammer
at nobody right there.

Maybe that automatic
weapon system saw a ghost.

Oh, and now Chomp throws
itself on the side.

KENNY:
Zoe might need to reboot
the hard drive here.

CHRIS:
Uh-oh, she's under
the pulverizer.

Has to be careful,
and Chomp gets out.

Whoa! Big flip,
but a miss on the shot.

KENNY:
Barely missed with that one,
Chris.

Chomp getting a little bit
closer every single time.

CHRIS:
Overhaul holding back a little,
not quite ready to pounce.

Less than 90 seconds
to go in the fight.

KENNY:
So far,
it's the speed of Overhaul

that's been the difference
here, Chris.

CHRIS:
Big swing and a miss from Chomp!

Zoe getting her mojo back,
things starting to heat up.

of Overhaul

Chomp right now.

CHRIS:
Oh, he just misses out!

the k*ll saws are in on it.

his foot off the gas,

to convince the judges?

CHRIS:
And for the first time tonight,

a fight will go to a decision.

So now it's in the hands
of the judges,

the former BattleBots [/i]
bad boy Derek Young,

Grant Imahara from Mythbusters,

and Bobak Ferdowsi, our old
buddy from the 2015 season,

worked on the Mars landing.

So, Kenny, how are the judges
going to see this one?

Overhaul had the lead early.

KENNY:
They sure did, Chris.

Charles Guan found some form
and utilized the box hazards

incredibly well,
using the screws,

and how about those k*ll saws?

Just nasty.

CHRIS:
Then Chomp started to come alive

and said, "You know what,
I gotta make up some points

in the eyes of the judges,

I've gotta start
flailing that hammer,

using that flamethrower".

KENNY:
Oh, huge shot there, Chris!

CHRIS:
So a very strong finish
for Chomp.

Was it enough to sway
the judges?

So Charles Guan
gets his first win this year

with Overhaul, while

She'll need to work
out those issues

if she wants any chance to make
it to the 2018 championship.

All right, coming up next,
we've got the main event:

Bite Force versus End Game.

Will there be
a changing of the guard?

But first,
three bots in the BattleBox

all at the same time.
We like to call it a rumble.

And we're keeping our eye
on Lucas Sloan and Basilisk.

He was largely ineffective

in an untelevised
tag-team rumble.

He got a win
but not much respect.

KENNY:
Yeah, Chris, it looks scary,

but we have yet to see
its primary weapon in action.

He'll be looking to flip
a pair of spinners.

Deviled Egg is low to the ground

and protected
by layers of steel.

The weapon alone
weighs 70 pounds.

Deviled Egg was mediocre
in a mediocre rumble

between Kraken and Sharkoprion,

so it'll be good
to see him tested here.

And then, Axe Backwards,
he had a disappointing loss

against w*r Hawk. He's hoping
to redeem himself here.

It's a full-body drum spinner
with all of the components

packed inside the weapon.

All of these bots have
gotten off to a slow start,

and all of them looking for a
win in the BattleBox tonight.

CHRIS:
This is desperation time, baby.

They gotta win this one
to keep it alive.

and Basilisk is going
after Deviled Egg, slowly.

But here comes Axe Backwards,
hitting 'em from behind

and taking out some parts.

KENNY:
That was a cheap shot
by Axe Backwards.

CHRIS:
Actually, there's nothing cheap
about it. It's a rumble, Kenny.

KENNY: Oh, yeah.
CHRIS: Anything goes. Whoa!

KENNY:
Huge hit.

CHRIS:
All right,
that 110-pound drum spinner

is apparently
working a-okay today.

Shockingly, Basilisk is
already down for the count,



Wow!
[KENNY LAUGHS]

KENNY:
Huge hit.

CHRIS:
Axe Backwards on the attack.

Oh, and another.

Coming right for us.

Yeah, take a little more.

Aww, that beautiful bot
of Deviled Egg,

it's gonna need a nose job.

KENNY:
That massive drum spinner
of Axe Backwards

has destroyed Deviled egg.

Oh, again.

CHRIS:
And those parts...

being held by glue
inside of Basilisk.

Apparently we're gonna
need some rubber cement

or something, because
that thing ain't working.

losing some of its cosmetics

KENNY: Yeah, Deviled Egg

CHRIS:
Deviled Egg, the little man,

Axe Backwards, the big boy.

KENNY:
Deviled Egg

How about Deviled Egg
doing some damage?

Let's get him out of there.

CHRIS:
These two drum spinners

have actually done some serious
damage and now lots of sparks.

Whoo!

KENNY:
Deviled Egg, not the fastest bot
in the world,

but trying to get
around to the tires.

Let's see if he can start to
pick off some of those tires.

CHRIS:
I feel like it's
a two-horse race now, Kenny.

KENNY:
And look at this, Axe Backwards
starting to heat up.

CHRIS:
Uh-oh.

And meanwhile,
Basilisk cruising around,

is he the Glass Joe of
the BattleBots world?[/i]

Under a minute to go.

As you saw, the k*ll saws
are now active.

All three of these bots

just trying to stumble their way
around the box.

KENNY:
Well, Axe Backwards
with the early points,

but Deviled Egg with
some points on the board now.

CHRIS:
Whoa, Axe Backwards, what's up?

You partying on a Saturday?
Yay, bro!

It's a great way to get dizzy.

CHRIS:
Under 30 to go in this rumble.

Whoa, Axe Backwards takes
a shot from the k*ll saw.

Now he's just trying to stay
away from his two opponents.

He feels like maybe
he's done enough damage.

KENNY:
Well, you'd have to say
Deviled Egg

has remained aggressive,
controlling this fight.

Axe Backwards just a little
random towards the end here.

CHRIS:
I love running
the three-bot weave,

that's huge around big parts--

KENNY: Whoa!
CHRIS: Whoa!

KENNY:
There you go,
some sparks finally. Fireworks!

CHRIS:
Thataway, Deviled Egg.

[BUZZER BUZZES]
And that will do it,

as the rumble heads
to the judges.

And Axe Backwards taking a spin
around the block in style.

Axe Backwards definitely
the most aggressive

of the three bots
early on, Kenny.

KENNY:
Yeah, smashed Deviled Egg
from behind,

was charging right after him,
and another big hit there

from Axe Backwards.

CHRIS:
That drum spinner, 110 pounds,

carries some serious weight
around the box.

KENNY:
That's right, Chris.

You know, Basilisk was
basically a non-factor

in this one from the get-go.

Deviled Egg took advantage
by remaining aggressive,

grinding away and
earning damage points

with that drum spinner,
landing some big shots,

and tore up the sides
of Basilisk.

CHRIS:
Good luck to our three judges
sorting this one out.

we've all been waiting for,

the main event of the evening.

The 2015 champion, Bite Force,
facing the undefeated rookie

from New Zealand, End Game.

Bite Force captain
Paul Ventimiglia's reputation

runs deep in combat robotics.

He's been competing on
the circuit for nearly 20 years

and has helped shape the sport
as we know it today.

And, Kenny, he hasn't convinced
me he's not a robot himself.

[KENNY CHUCKLES]

On the flip side,
his opponent, Jack Barker,

is only 22 years old
and is arguably the most hyped

young prospect in the game.

Put it this way:
Jack grew up watching videos

of Paul on YouTube,
and here he is,

looking like he might
already be closing the gap

on the veteran.

KENNY:
Well, I guess we'll see,
won't we?

So far, Jack Barker has
talked up a pretty big game

but has backed up every
word of it and then some.

But do not underestimate
Bite Force here.

He's the only one with
a BattleBots title[/i]

stepping into the ring tonight.

CHRIS:

Well, their designs are similar.

Both are elite
vertical spinners,

but comparing the numbers
is where you see

the difference in approach.

End Game's weapon is heavier,

and he's looking
for the death blow,

spinning that disc at
a dizzying 250 miles per hour.

Bite Force's weapon is lighter
and does spin

at a more conservative


But what it sacrifices in
power, it gains in control

after big exchanges.

this one has
a playoff atmosphere to it.

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: Big hit on End Game

out of the gate, and, oh!

End Game takes a serious flip,
but keeps on ticking!

Bite Force could be down
for the count, though.

He's not moving, Kenny!

KENNY:
End Game could finish this fight
right here.

He's got a free shot,
he's gotta capitalize.

CHRIS:
End Game cautious.

Paul looks rattled.
Maybe he's human after all?

Oh, but look at this, Bite
Force back from the dead!

Paul Ventimiglia right
back on the offensive.

End Game may have missed a
massive opportunity here, Kenny.

KENNY:
Yeah, Jack Barker perhaps
caught up in the moment.

He's got to shake it off and

KENNY:

CHRIS:
End Game is on its head
and doesn't look functional!

CHRIS:

and young Jack Barker
must be thinking,

"Why didn't I take out Bite
Force when I had the chance?"

Heartbreak city here
for the rookie.

[BUZZER BUZZES]

CHRIS:
We're done!

Bite Force takes a bite
out of End Game.

Flipping it on its head
and saying, "You're dead."

Kenny, right out of the gate,
the 2015 champ said,

"Hey, you want to play,
youngster?

Come on, let's play".

KENNY:
Well, yeah, right there
we got a little taste

of who was going to have
the superior primary weapon,

but clearly, that impact
shook up Bite Force.

End Game had a clear path
for that finishing blow,

but Jack Barker hesitated,
a decision

that came back to haunt him

as Bite Force came to,
and then boom!

CHRIS:
And obviously, there was
a weapons problem

with Jack Barker and End Game,

because once they get
thrown on their head,

they can usually self-right, but
if that weapon is not at 100%

there's gonna be an issue.

KENNY:
Yeah, Bite Force
is able to maintain control

after this impact while
End Game lost its spinner,

and it was game over.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

Paul, excellent job.

Thanks, it was
a little scary out there.

We sort of died for a minute,
we don't know why exactly.

My pit crew and team
will take a look at it,

but we had to restart the radio.

That seemed to bring
it back to life,

so we'll figure out what it is.

What had you heard
about this young guy

stepping forward, and
how did you prep for him?

We know that's
a really tough opponent.

Basically, our preparation
was to get on the ground,

to get lower than them,
and that worked out in the end.

It went really well.

We were able to hit him
with our weapon,

get him on top of our forks.

In BattleBots, [/i]
whoever's on the ground wins.

There's no one in particular.
