Post by bunniefuu »

The BattleBox is
a dangerous place.

And I don't just
mean k*ller robots

trying to smash you into tiny
pieces, I mean the box itself.

Razor-sharp saws
all spinning at 1800 RPM.

Half-inch stainless steel,
belt-driven screws

that can trap a robot
and grind it into the wall.

And my personal favorite,
the pulverizer.

Three thousand pounds
of robot-smashing force.

To demonstrate, I brought in
an old VCR from Chris' trailer,

because there's nothing more fun

than seeing inanimate objects
get smashed to bits.

Pete, hit it.

[♪♪♪]

Besides, no one should
be watching VHSs anymore.

It's an obsolete technology.

CHRIS:
Hey!

How am I gonna watch
Pretty Woman now?[/i]

Who's getting crushed tonight?
Stay tuned to find out.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

[♪♪♪]

[CROWD CHEERING]

Hey, everybody, and welcome
to BattleBots Fight Night,

my favorite place to work
in the world.

Nobody punches a clock,
they simply punch each other.

I'm Chris Rose here
with a guy

who knows how to handle
his fists,

Kenny Florian from the UFC.

Thanks, Chris,
the fists are good.

The ears, on the other hand,
not so much.

Yeah, those are a complete mess.
Yeah.

Tonight's fight card,
though, is jam-packed,

Take a look at this lineup,

featuring some of the most
ferocious bots on the planet.

CHRIS:
And how about our main event?

Icewave, the only gas-powered
combustion engine

in the field, has been pedal
to the metal this year.

It's undefeated,
and it's made mincemeat

of the competition so far.

And it's on a collision course
with Skorpios,

who impressed in
its first fight against Lucky,

and now Orion Beach will
have a chance to prove

he belongs amongst
the BattleBots elite.[/i]

KENNY:
Yeah, and I don't know
if you can hear that

over the sound of
your bot, Mark,

but that's the sound
of footsteps.

That's Orion Beach
coming for you.

CHRIS:
We'll also see Yeti
go toe to toe with Bombshell.

Both were considered contenders
coming into this year,

but with 1-1 and 0-2 records
respectively,

their backs are
against the wall.

One more loss for either one

could cost them a spot
in the 16-team playoff.

And the undefeated w*r Hawk
takes on the brute Brutus.

Both feature vertical discs
that get spinning up

over 150 miles an hour.

We're dubbing this one
the battle of the clones.

We've also got the
full-body spinner

Captain Shrederator versus
the pesky pincher, Petuna.

That should be a wild ride.

But without further ado,
let's get to it,

starting with
the aptly-named Huge.

With those giant wheels
and 30-pound spinning blade,

builder Jonathan Schultz

and his first-year
heavyweight design

are off
to a white-hot start in 2018.

He'll be squaring up to
Zoe Stephenson and Chomp,

who's stumbled
out of the gate at 0-2,

but that doesn't
change the fact

that Zoe's bringing
in a bot so smart

we might wanna worry
about its plans

to usurp the entire human race.

But, hey, we're okay for now,
so let's get to it.

Faruq, the world is yours,
my man.

[♪♪♪]

[CROWD CHEERING]

Ladies and gentlemen,
are you ready?

It's robot-fighting time!

[♪♪♪]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight, fight...

In the red square...

[IMITATES TONE OVER PA]

Attention, shoppers: we have
a clean-up on aisle chew.

Clean-up on aisle chew,

'cause it's about
to wipe the floor with you.

It's Chomp.

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Kenny, when you talk about
the tech in Chomp,

it kind of feels like the latest
model of a luxury sedan.

It's got the automated
self-righting pistons,

smart-drive tracking system,

heated seats
and even cup holders.

But at the end of the day,

it doesn't quite feel as good
as the old Chevy.

KENNY:
Hey, and hats off to Zoe

for pushing the boundaries,
but she's winless on the year

and desperately needs
a W here tonight.

In the blue square,
he rolls in defiant

like Andre the Giant,

reach is extra long
like King Kong.

It's Huge!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Jonathan Schultz and Huge,

they've quickly
become a fan favorite,

And how cute is that
mini-bot, Surrender,

It's got the little white flag,
"Don't hurt me, don't hurt me."

KENNY:
Not only cute, Chris,
Jonathan Schultz thinks

it will throw off
Chomp's lidar tracking system,

so it also has
its tactical purposes.

We're running a little
mini-bot called Surrender Bot,

with a little white flag
that waves.

The hope is because
it's white and Huge is white,

it'll be able to set off
their autotargeting system.

It'll just run right
by the front of them

and they'll fire away,
and then we'll have

a more free hit on them.

I think in this match

we're gonna try and be
more careful with positioning.

One of my fears is that
we'll do a good job

of getting around them
to the side of their wheel,

which is where we wanna be,
but then they'll pivot

right into the side of us.

So we're gonna
have to be careful

with how much we engage
with their wheel.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

CHRIS:
All right, let's see if
Chomp is breathing fire tonight.

Ai-yah!
[CROWD CHEERING]

KENNY:
Well, let's see
if Chomp can get that flame

on those big plastic
wheels of Huge.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Red team, ready?

CHRIS:
And here we go, two bots,

a single three-minute bout.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Blue team, ready?

CHRIS:
Victory'll be declared
by a panel of judges

or by a knockout.

As always, the ultimate goal:

to completely destroy
or disable your opponent.

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight, fight...

[BUZZER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

There goes Surrender, trying
to draw the attention of Chomp,

"Over here, over--" Whoa.

Don't light that little guy
on fire!

KENNY:
Well, Chomp not
taking the bait, Chris,

turning to face Huge-- Oh!

CHRIS: Oh, my!
Yeah!

CHRIS:
Chomp trying to self-right
right away after that Huge shot.

Flames, flames.

CHRIS:
Chomp self-rights, but he's
back in the danger zone.

Scares off Huge
with those flames,

but here comes Huge again.

Let's see if she can use that--

Oh, wow! That is a huge shot.

KENNY:
Uh-oh, but look at that,
look at her hammer.

Her hammer is
completely twisted.

CHRIS:
Whoa! That is a nose job
nobody would be happy with,

That is nasty-looking!

KENNY:
She's gonna have to revert
to her flamethrower now, Chris.

CHRIS:
Yeah, no primary weapon.

Chomp needs to take a page
out of Free Shipping's playbook

and put some serious flame
on those wheels of Huge.

Here goes Chomp,
pushing Huge into the corner.

Huge only goes about

so not gonna run away from ya,

but it does reverse field
nicely.

KENNY:
It's interesting, that hammer
is kind of catching that--

Oh, vertical flames,
look at this.

CHRIS:
Huge is almost up
on the screws.

Chomp is pushing,
fighting on fire.

Who ordered the spit roast?
I'm starving.

KENNY:
Chomp with some amazing
driving skills right now,

bullying Huge all over the box.

CHRIS:
That vertical spinner, though,
of Huge

is back up to full speed,
so be careful.

Chomp goes in there
and takes a pounding.

KENNY:
Again, that hammer is acting
as a nice shield,

it's jamming it up.

CHRIS:
Huge gets away.

KENNY:
It's torn to pieces now, though.

It's two separate pieces.

CHRIS:
Zoe now using
a pair of Chompsticks--

Oh, look at that, oh.

KENNY:
That's gonna hurt.

CHRIS:
Bits and pieces of bot
all over the BattleBox.

KENNY:
But Chomp's still standing,
Chris,

showing no fear.
What an incredible fight.

CHRIS:
Huge is the real deal, Kenny!

It just keeps coming for ya,
and how the crowd loves it!

Whoa!
KENNY: Oh!

Huge smacks the k*ll saws,
and the k*ll saws fight back.

CHRIS:
Unbelievable.

Under a minute to go in
this uber-exciting fight.

KENNY:
Chomp doing well
to still be functional, Chris,

a credit to Zoe and her team.

CHRIS:
Huge trying to corner Chomp,

Chomp just defensively
driving away.

Oh, but taking a shot and
ending up on the side, uh-oh.

KENNY:
And this is where he needs
to take advantage

of Chomp being on its side.
He should attack right now.

CHRIS:
But it doesn't have
its vertical spinner

up to full speed.

Look at Chomp, righting itself
with under 30 to go.

KENNY:
Uh-oh, Chomp back
in the danger zone.

CHRIS:
Oh, no! Huge taking more chunks
out of Chomp.

KENNY:
Yeah, he's giving Chomp
a nice haircut right now.

CHRIS:
Under 15 to go,
and Chomp's thinking,

"When's this gonna end?"

Yeah!
CHRIS: Oh, the saw blades

doing serious damage
to the underbelly of Chomp.

[TIMER BEEPING]
Under five to go.

One last push by Chomp.

[BUZZER BUZZES]
We're done, we're done!

[CROWD CHEERING]

KENNY:
What an action-packed fight.

CHRIS:
So this one will go
to the judges:

Close friend of
BattleBots Alison Haislip,[/i]

the former BattleBots [/i]
bad boy Derek Young

and gaming industry icon
Naomi Kyle,

How are they gonna
see this one, Kenny?

ALL [CHANTING]:
Huge! Huge! Huge!

KENNY:
Well, as it's done
for three fights in a row now,

Huge came out swinging
with that giant bar spinner

and landed shot after shot,
scoring a ton of damage points.

CHRIS:
Chomp did a great job

of using some of
the weapons inside the box

to its advantage,

and she kept that flamethrower
pointed at Huge.

But something to keep in mind

when it comes
to the judges' scoring:

it's the damage constituted
by the primary weapon,

and Chomp lost its primary
weapon, that hammer, very early.

In contrast, that weapon
on Huge just kept spinning.

Let's see if the judges
reward him here.

[CROWD CHEERING]

The results from the judges
are in.

[♪♪♪]

The winner,
by unanimous decision, is...

Huge!

[CROWD CHEERING]

[♪♪♪]

CHRIS:
So as Huge moves to 3-0,
you gotta ask,

is this new design
the future of BattleBots?

Or at the very least,
is Huge one of the favorites

to win the Giant Nut this year?
KENNY: Top four, for sure.

Hey, still to come,

we've got Brutus
taking on w*r Hawk,

and don't forget
about our main event,

where a robot with a saw
on its head tests its gall

against one of the most
feared blades in the sport.

[♪♪♪]

Brutus and w*r Hawk
about to do battle.

Why don't you break down
the matchup for us, Kenny?

KENNY:
Well, we've got
a vertical disc spinner

on either side, and when
you break down the numbers,

weapon, weapon speed and reach,

there really isn't
an obvious design advantage

for either one of these teams.

They have very similar weapons,

so the real test will be

who can get underneath
their opponent

and land
the more meaningful shots.

So this is gonna be
an interesting fight.

Let's get inside the box.

[CROWD CHEERING]

In the red square,
he's roamin' around,

ready to build an empire.

It's a golden bot
that'll make you expire.

It's Brutus!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Adam Bercu coming off

an impressive 41-second knockout
in his last fight,

but before that we saw him
burn out a motor

in a loss to Red Devil.

KENNY:
Yeah, Adam's always been known
for his aggressive style,

but sometimes it can
work against him.

In the blue square,
from the Emerald City,

this bot will leave you
sleepless in Seattle.

Starring Tom Tanks
and Meg Dyin', it's w*r Hawk.

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
There we see Rob Farrow
and w*r Hawk.

They also got a KO
in their last match,

although it looks like
they switched things up

a little bit for this fight.
KENNY: Yeah, that's right.

They've actually added
that beak, that black beak,

to the front of w*r Hawk.

Rob hopes that will help
w*r Hawk win the battle

for lower ground
here against Brutus.

I saw Brutus
fight Son of Whyachi

and knock him out,
so he's a very impressive bot.

Our designs are very similar,

and we think that we might have
a little bit of an edge

on getting under him.

I think the first hit's
gonna have

a big impact
on who wins this fight.

It's important for me
to win this fight,

but not just that, I have to
be relentless in this fight.

Even if they're over, I'll have
to keep destroying their bot

and put on a huge show,
hopefully retire it,

so I'm picked for the top 16.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

CHRIS:
Well, it sounds like Adam Bercu
wants to put on a show.

He's had his ups and downs
this year.

It'll be interesting to see
which Brutus shows up tonight.

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight, fight...

[BUZZER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

The two vertical
disc spinners approach,

looking like long-lost cousins.

[CROWD GASPING]
Whoa, huge impact!

Brutus gets the worst of it.

He's flipped on his head.

KENNY:
That shot hurt w*r Hawk too,
Chris.

He's struggling to move.

CHRIS:
Both bots stunned
after that exchange.

Can Brutus self-right?
He's upside down.

But still advancing.

[KENNY GROANS]
CHRIS: Oh, no!

Oh, Brutus barely avoids
a disaster scenario,

being stranded on its keister!

KENNY:
I think he's trying to use
any impact he can to self-right.

CHRIS:
Including the screws,
apparently.

w*r Hawk's still limping around.

KENNY:
He has an active weapon

but can't take advantage of
Brutus here. He can't move.

CHRIS:
Uh-oh, Brutus, look out.

Whoa!
[CROWD CHEERING]

A genius reversal by Brutus,

using the box to right himself,
and he's back in action.

w*r Hawk in real trouble now.

Uh-oh.
KENNY: He got underneath! Oh!

CHRIS: Right into the screws!
KENNY: Wow!

CHRIS:
One of the cross-eyed eyes

popped right off of w*r Hawk.

KENNY:
And that primary weapon
isn't working, Chris.

CHRIS:
Not for Brutus, it's not.

So it's w*r Hawk whose weapon
is spinning but can't drive

and Brutus who can drive
but has no weapon.

Let's see how they adjust.

So now Brutus has
to use the BattleBox,

and he's trying, can't
quite get the right angle

to get him into the screws.

KENNY:
They have got w*r Hawk
stuck in there, though.

CHRIS:
w*r Hawk has scored
some damage points

by knocking out that spinner,

but Brutus looks to be
in control here.

But both bots get clear.

Now under 90 seconds
to go in the fight.

That vertical spinner for Brutus
is back up and running.

KENNY:
That's huge. w*r Hawk
is a sitting duck right now.

CHRIS:
Look out.

[CHRIS & KENNY EXCLAIM]

KENNY:
Big hit by Brutus!

CHRIS:
What a great flip.

Now the question is,
can w*r Hawk right itself?

Brutus sizing him up... Oh!

Brutus says,
"Let's play, big boy!

Come on, here's some help."

KENNY:
w*r Hawk is crab-walking
in the corner, Chris.

He looks done.
CHRIS: All Brutus needs to do

is hang back, uh-uh.

KENNY:
He's about to hit him again.

w*r Hawk's in deep trouble.

CHRIS:
Brutus backs off again.

[CROWD CHEERING]
There's the victory dance,

and the countdown
should be coming.

Ten, nine, eight...
CHRIS: Both bots stunned early,

but Brutus manages
to pull it together

and capitalize
on a wounded w*r Hawk.

Wait, w*r Hawk's
moving a little--

...one, knockout!
[CHRIS & KENNY EXCLAIM]

CHRIS:
Brutus, what are you doing,
dude?

Hey, just chill out, bro.

You already won the fight,
my man.

Kenny, two very similar bots,

a huge impact
to start the fight,

and both teams had to scramble
to get back on their feet.

KENNY:
Yeah, some crazy shifts
of momentum in this fight

back and forth.

It looked like Brutus
was gonna be in big trouble,

did a great job
of using the box

to get back
in the right position,

and after losing power
to that disc spinner early,

Brutus was able to
get it cranking again

and pounce
on a limping w*r Hawk.

And this was the k*ll shot,

flung him up in the air
about four or five feet,

and w*r Hawk did
show some movement

in the final seconds
of the count-out,

which invited another attack
from Brutus,

but per the ref's discretion,

it wasn't enough to stop
the knockout call.

CHRIS:
All right, coming up,

it's Captain Shrederator
taking on Petunia.

And later tonight,
our main event.

Let's take a closer look.

CHRIS & KENNY:
Oh!

CHRIS:
Marc DeVidts and Icewave
have been absolutely tearing

through the competition
so far this year.

Two fights, two knockouts,

and one of the most
memorable hits we've ever seen.

[CHRIS & KENNY EXCLAIM]

CHRIS: That is devastating.
Stop, stop, stop!

CHRIS:
He appears to be primed
for a championship run.

Well, each fight that we have

builds our confidence
in Icewave again.

Year after year, we finally
have it dialed in, I think.

CHRIS:
Standing in his way tonight,
Orion Beach and Skorpios,

with a saw that can cut
through a brick wall.

Whoa!
KENNY: There's some sparks!

CHRIS:
In his first fight
against Lucky,

he came...
KENNY: Oh!

...he saw...
KENNY: Wow!

...and he conquered.

What an impressive performance
from Skorpios.

And now he's looking
to do it again.

Skorpios is the
highest-torque sawblade robot

that's ever been created.
KENNY: Wow!

ORION:
When Skorpios
gets in the box,

you're gonna see me saw into
'em with reckless abandon.

CHRIS:
Up next, we got a couple
of red, white and blue bots.

That's Petunia taking on
the team from America,

Captain Shrederator.

Let's get to it. This one's
gonna be a lot of fun.

Faruq, take it away.

Captain Shrederator,

don't think that's Nick Nave.

KENNY:

engineer, Joe Johnson.

He'll be driving tonight

because Nick Nave
had to fly home

for a gaming convention
in Florida.

it can do a lot of damage.

Double Jeopardy

who have brought a cannon

and we got to see

Yeah, Mecha Rampage is about
to go in for the k*ll.

Right now Double Jeopardy
not driving the way it wants,

it's a sitting duck right now

but it seems like Mecha Rampage
having some issues here.

CHRIS: Yeah--
KENNY: Oh! Wow!

CHRIS:
Well, I guess
those issues have dissipated.

You guys gotta show me
some kind of movement.

KENNY:
Yeah, that's not good
for Double Jeopardy.

He kind of needs
the left side of his bot.

Ten, nine, eight...

CHRIS:
Oh, man, here comes
the countdown already.

Is Mecha Rampage gonna finish
him off or let him breathe?

...three, two, one,
that's a knockout.

[BUZZER BUZZES]

CHRIS:
Well, now Double Jeopardy needs

an estate attorney.

All right, Double Jeopardy's
cannon did fire and hit--

KENNY:
It hit that main spinning
part of Mecha Rampage,

and it seemed like it ricocheted
as fast as it was shot.

CHRIS:
Maybe a little case
of projectile dysfunction.

From there,
it was all Mecha Rampage.

KENNY:
Yeah, absolutely.
Mecha Rampage said,

"Is that all you got, bro?
Okay, my turn."

And it just started
chewing up Double Jeopardy.

That horizontal spinner
is deadly.

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Well, the fun thing was,

we got to see Double Jeopardy
land its shot on Mecha Rampage,

looking like Annie Oakley
out there.

But ultimately
Mecha Rampage gets the win

in what was
a pretty dominant performance.

We got plenty more action
coming your way.

Next, we've got a matchup
between two desperate teams

in what feels like a must-win.

That's Yeti, who's sitting
at 1-1 on the year,

facing off against
the 0-2 Bombshell.

Let's see who wins this one.
Head inside the box.

[CROWD CHEERING]

In the red square,
are you getting sweaty?

Because you might soon be
dead-y.

I always enjoy a nice mani
and pedi. What, it's cool.

It's Yeti!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
And there we see
Greg Gibson and Yeti.

He's coming off a disappointing
loss against Icewave,

and now his season
hangs in the balance.

A loss here
and come tournament time,

he might be on the outside
looking in.

In the blue square, this is
one b*mb you can't deactivate.

It will straight up detonate.

It's Bombshell!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Michael Jeffries and Bombshell

have had some tough matchups
this year.

Two fights, two losses,

And sometimes when things
aren't going your way,

you make lineup changes, Kenny.

KENNY:
That's right.
Michael Jeffries has decided

to hand the weapon controls
over to his teammate Dan Hammer.

Whatever it takes
to try and get the win here.

We haven't made a lot of
mechanical modifications

to Bombshell,.

What we have done is
put the entire weapons system

on a separate set of radio gear.

That way we'll have a
separate weapons operator

who can focus on getting
the disc up to speed

and making sure it stays
spinning during the fight,

and I can focus on
the bot positioning entirely.

Bombshell's gonna
be a tough one.

Last year it was
the drum k*ller,

took out Poison Arrow,
Minotaur, made it look easy.

And, you know, I'm a drum.

I'm gonna go charge

and see if he can
deal with that.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

[♪♪♪]

CHRIS:
Kind of feels like these guys

just ate a whole bunch
of firehouse chili,

got a side of sour cream,
some hot sauce maybe,

Kenny,
it's total gut check time.

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight, fight...

[BUZZER BUZZES]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Here comes Yeti--
Oh, taking a huge hit

and going right up into the sky.

KENNY:
Oh, another big hit.

Weapon on weapon.
[RAPID CLICKING]

CHRIS:
Uh-oh, do you hear that sound?

KENNY:
Sounds like someone's weapon
or drive chain

is clicking, Chris. Those
early hits loosened something.

Yeti just trying to chew up
Bombshell right now.

Uh-oh, Yeti getting
some low ground there.

CHRIS:
Whoa, something went flying!

Whoever's making that noise
does not sound good,

although they both look okay.

Yeti doing a little wheelie!

I think it's a breakdance move
from '84.

What's it called, Kenny?

KENNY:
That's the helicopter, Chris.
Oh!

CHRIS:
Whatever it was,
it was impressive.

Whoa, right in front
of us, look at Yeti.

KENNY:
Beautiful self-right there
from Yeti.

And this is his driving style,

this is what got him
here to the dance,

and this is
what he goes right back to.

CHRIS:
Well, uh-oh, is that huge
drum spinner dead now?

You can see that chain
on the floor.

KENNY:
Yeah, I think he's lost
that drum, Chris.

This means Yeti's gonna be
forced

to try to break
Bombshell's weapon,

try and even things up here.

Bombshell's winning this fight
right now.

Can he get underneath
that wedge of Bombshell?

CHRIS:
There he goes, though,
he had it for a second.

And now he's got him!
Oh, but Bombshell slides off.

Can he get away from Yeti?

KENNY:
Bombshell trying
to get that angle,

that left wheel of Bombshell's
about to come off, I think.

CHRIS:
Yeti's gonna try and throw
Bombshell into the screws,

get him in the corner
with the pulverizer,

because now the BattleBox
is his friend.

Bombshell's primary weapon,
that vertical disc spinner,

is still working effectively,

and Yeti trying to maneuver
around it.

This is still a see-saw fight.

Oh, but took a hit there.

KENNY:
You see that armor
on the right side

is still there for Bombshell.

On the left side,
it's no longer there.

That left tire is
about to come off,

and that's why Bombshell
can't get really--

Can't get any power
down in the BattleBox.

CHRIS:
Once again, the drum spinner
not working

for Greg Gibson and Yeti.

And with under a minute to go,
the k*ll saws are now active.

KENNY:
Well, both bots
with some damage.

You'd think Bombshell has
the best chance at a KO,

but Yeti just so durable.

CHRIS:
A big shoving match
happening here,

Bombshell with basically
only one wheel.

What are you doing, Jeffries?

You'll never beat Yeti
in a shoving match.

KENNY:
A serious battle of power
out there, look at this.

CHRIS:
Under 40 ticks to go.

Let's see which bot
can get more traction.

KENNY:
This exchange soaking up
precious time on the clock.

CHRIS:
Oh, getting a little
too close there, Yeti.

KENNY:
Yeti using that big drum spinner

as a battering ram--
Uh-oh.

Bombshell's underneath him.

CHRIS:
Well, Bombshell just destroyed
that bar on Yeti,

getting some valuable points
there.

Yeti is taking some
serious damage, and--

Oh, Bombshell gets
a little fire in me bum

as he runs away from
Yeti, "Get away from me!"

Under 10 to go! Aah, those
k*ll saws doing a nice job

on the bottom of Bombshell,
which is smoking,

it's smoking!

KENNY:
Bombshell's gonna be saved
by the bell.

[BUZZER BUZZES]
We're done, we're done.

CHRIS:
Wow, what an amazing
tactical fight

between Bombshell and Yeti.

That's what we needed.

CHRIS:
It goes to the judges now.

[♪♪♪]

CHRIS:
Lot of head-to-head damage
early on in this one, Kenny.

How are the judges
gonna sort this out?

KENNY:
Well, Yeti came out aggressive,

looking for those
head-on collisions

and caused some damage early.

And Bombshell held its own,
but the fight turned,

when Yeti lost power
to that drum spinner

and was forced to become
a battering ram.

Bombshell continued
to land huge blows

and score points
for the rest of the fight.

But check this out, in the dying
seconds, Bombshell loses power

and catches fire.

CHRIS:
And we know that last impression

can be a powerful one, but was
it enough to sway the judges?

Let's find out.
[CROWD CHEERING]

The winner by
unanimous decision is...

Yeti!

[♪♪♪]

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Wow, so Greg Gibson and Yeti

pull out the unanimous decision,

and that one felt like it
could've gone either way.

We've got Jess standing by
with the judges.

Hello, guys. All right, that
one was a tough one to judge.

Yeah, I was definitely
thinking Bombshell

through most of the fight,
but I was so impressed

with how Yeti was
still maintaining

control in the fight

and then that final hit
right at the end

where you see Bombshell
actually catch on fire,

you couldn't negate it
at that point.

Yeah, it was
a super close match,

I think Bombshell had it
in hand right until the end,

a sort of death blow
that they took,

and so I had to give the slight
damage edge to Yeti on that one.

And if I'm still left standing
the end of the fight,

then I won,
so I just gave it to Yeti.

Well, I certainly
don't envy you

and the social media that will
soon follow you guys.

Thanks, guys.

CHRIS:
It's time for our main event.

We've got Mark DeVidts
and Icewave

taking on Orion Beach
and Skorpios.

Let's start with Mark DeVidts
and Icewave.

So far, two matches,
two wins, two knockouts,

an average knockout time
of 46 seconds.

That's even better
than Tombstone so far.

Yeah, it's amazing.
That's how powerful

that horizontal spinner
is from Icewave.

When that thing's working,

we have one of the best bots
in the game.

CHRIS:
Tonight taking on Skorpios,
built by Orion Beach.

He's off to a hot start in 2018.

What's gonna be the plan
here tonight?

Well, I think he's gonna try
to attack that top side

of Icewave, try to get that
blade to go into the I.C.E.,

the internal combustion engine.

He'll probably have to use

that big wedge of his
to withstand some hits

from Icewave's bar spinner,

but if he can get
inside position, watch out.

That saw can do
some serious damage.

We'll see what happens.
Let's get inside the BattleBox.

[CROWD CHEERING]

Ladies and gentlemen...

it's tonight's main event!

[CROWD CHEERING LOUDLY]

[♪♪♪]

CHRIS:
And there is Skorpios.

It's got that huge blade on it
that can do some serious damage.

KENNY:
That's right.
Orion Beach tells us

that in testing, he cut
through an inch of steel

in just 30 seconds.

He'll have three minutes here
to put that saw to work.

[CROWD CHEERING]

[♪♪♪]

CHRIS:
You know, Kenny, Icewave has
not changed much

since we first met it in 2015,

but it still looks
and sounds mean.

KENNY:
It's been one of the most
dominant horizontal spinners

in BattleBots history,[/i]

and after a disappointing 2016,

Mark DeVidts appears
to have Icewave

back into form this year.

In the red square,
you should call this bot

Pizza Cut, 'cause he's ready
to serve you by the slice.

You're about to be tossed
and turned into sauce

with a side
of "boxeralla" sticks.

Skorpios!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Orion Beach and Skorpios

in the competition
and getting the tap

for the main event tonight.

A win here against Icewave
could make quite a statement.

In the blue square,

Faruq here with
your five-day gorecast.

Grab a scarf, because it's
going to be freezing forever.

It's the wizard of blizzard:
Icewave!

CHRIS:
Getting a good look at Icewave,

but it looks like they've got
a different top tonight, Kenny.

KENNY:
That's right,
Mark DeVidts has decided

to cover that gas-powered motor

with a plate of
bulletproof LEXAN glass.

He's very concerned

with the overhead
saw attacks of Skorpios.

CHRIS:
And check out Skorpios.

What's up with
the hockey sticks?

KENNY:
Well, they're meant
to keep Icewave at arm's length.

But to counter that,
Mark DeVidts has added

that orange beak
to his engine as well.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

CHRIS:
Can't say I always keep up
with you on the strategy, Kenny,

but I can't wait to see
these two tear each other apart.

Just listen to Icewave's engine.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Red team, ready?

[CROWD CHEERING]

Blue team, ready?

[CROWD CHEERING]

[♪♪♪]

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight, fight...

CHRIS:
Icewave, Skorpios
in our main event.

[BUZZER BUZZING]

Let the bot battle begin!

Icewave trying to fire up
to full speed--

Oh, there goes
half a hockey stick.

KENNY:
Yeah, I'm not too surprised

that hockey stick
didn't make it, Chris.

CHRIS: Oh--
KENNY: Wow.

CHRIS:
We got plenty of sparks so far.

Whoa, Skorpios gets knocked
off balance momentarily.

KENNY:
Oh! Beautiful defensive
maneuver there from Icewave,

just kind of played matador
there against Skorpios.

CHRIS:
Skorpios trying to get in there

before that blade can
fire up all the way!

Uh-oh, Icewave near the screw!

Watch the tip of that blade.

Keep running the engine,
k*ll it, k*ll it.

CHRIS:
Skorpios can't seem
to drop that saw.

KENNY:
Yeah, something not right
with that arm.

It's not lowering.

They're holding me, I--

REFEREE:
That's a pin, ten seconds.

KENNY:
Icewave disabled that saw arm,

now Skorpios can't get
its blade down.

CHRIS:
Well, that's a huge break
for Icewave.

And Skorpios changing
his gameplan,

so now what he's doing is
trying to use the BattleBox

to his advantage,
and he just misses

putting Icewave
up in the screws.

Now it's right
in front of us. Hi, guys.

KENNY:
Skorpios going to plan C, Chris.

Grappling.

CHRIS:
Whoa! Icewave just took off
some serious armor.

Those hockey sticks,
eh, have been removed.

KENNY:
Oh! Wow!

CHRIS:
Icewave tearing at Skorpios,

clearly head-on damage
points here, Kenny.

But Skorpios determined
to stay aggressive

and control this fight.

Oh!
KENNY: Big hit by Skorpios.

CHRIS:
Right up on the screws,
he's trying to lift Icewave

all the way up there.

KENNY:
Skorpios just won't
give him an inch.

CHRIS:
Can Skorpios flip Icewave

more than halfway
through this match?

KENNY:
Icewave needs to get
in the center of the box

and avoid the edges
of the box here.

CHRIS:
Icewave on the run,
can't avoid Skorpios.

Restart, restart.

KENNY:
Skorpios trying to jam him up.

If Icewave could hit him
from the side,

he could finish this, but
Skorpios just too fast, Chris.

CHRIS:
Oh, and now holding him
next to the screws.

Icewave has gotta try
and get some distance

between he and Skorpios.

I just can't get away from him,
it's too fast.

KENNY:
He's just not fast enough
to do it.

Skorpios driving also
very good, very technical.

CHRIS:
Skorpios has him pinned, Kenny.

With no primary weapon, this
is how he can win this fight.

Oh, near hit by the pulverizer.

KENNY:
Icewave getting that
spinner going now, watch out.

CHRIS:
Oh, Icewave hits a
piece of Skorpios into the air,

so aggressive here.

KENNY:
I think every piece of
Skorpios is all over the box.

CHRIS:
He's just bare bones now,

but he's still shoving
Icewave into the screws, wow.

KENNY:
Icewave's looking exactly
the same, though, Chris.

This is a durable bot here.

CHRIS:
Skorpios has dictated
the action, but remember,

Icewave knocked out
that primary weapon early.

Closing in on 15 seconds,
let's see if Icewave

can get that blade going
one more time.

KENNY:
You gotta admire
the driving and heart

of Orion Beach here. He's doing
everything possible to win.

CHRIS:
Under five,
as the crowd counts it down.

This one's going to the judges.
[BUZZER BUZZES]

Wow!

Skorpios totally undressed

but still goes the distance
against Icewave.

[EXCLAIMS, LAUGHING]

CHRIS:
For the third time tonight,
a fight goes the distance.

The judges have their work
cut out for 'em.

What are they looking
for here, Kenny?

KENNY:
Well, we see
that initial hit by Icewave

dislodges the saw
motorchain on Skorpios,

and with his
primary weapon down,

Orion Beach had to find
other ways to score points

for the rest of the fight.

CHRIS:
Icewave just started chopping
on Skorpios,

but he also got thrown around
the BattleBox pretty well.

KENNY:
He did. He was
getting out-maneuvered,

he was kind of getting
thrown around the box,

but really it was the shots
that that horizontal spinner

that really was
undressing Skorpios.

When Skorpios came
into this fight,

he didn't look like that, Chris.

CHRIS:
Yeah, but he withstood
the blows,

lasted the full three minutes,

and has given himself
a chance with the judges.

Let's go down to Faruq
with the decision.

We have a split decision.

[ALL GASPING]

Judge Naomi scored
the battle for Icewave.

[CROWD CHEERING]

Judge Derek scored the battle
for Skorpios.

[CROWD CHEERING, BOOING]

Judge Alison scored
the battle for the winner...

Skorpios!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
So Mark DeVidts and Icewave
let it go to the judges

and gets handed
his first loss in 2018.

Skorpios improves to 2-0.

Okay, Kenny, I can tell you've
got an opinion on this one.

On your little fictitious
scorecard, how'd you have it?

Well, listen, at the
end of the day, it's a fight.

And if I'm just
moving you around

when you're the guy
who's landing all the shots,

you're winning,
even if I'm moving forward.

And I'm being "aggressive,"

but you're landing
all the shots,

you broke my arm, you broke
my leg, you broke my face,

you're winning the fight.

I mean, look at these two bots.

Which one looks like
the winner to you?

I thought Icewave won, I thought
Naomi Kyle had it right.

CHRIS:
Well, I guess that's just
the risk you run

when you let it
go to the judges.

And what a busy night they had.

Huge took out Chomp
to move to 3-0.

Yeti eked out
a win over Bombshell

to keep its championship
hopes alive.

Another fun evening
inside the BattleBox.

For Faruq, Jessica Chobot
and my man Kenny Florian,

I'm Chris Rose.

We'll see you next time
on BattleBots.

[CROWD CHEERING]

[♪♪♪]

[WHIRRING]
