01x09 - Ignition

Post by bunniefuu »

[Logan] Previously
on
Motorheads...

Time to get him
some competition.

- What?
- He needs to race.

How long do you need?

Three weeks.

[grunts]

[Ezra] Don’t look
so surprised, Hugo.

You knew I was getting
out eventually.

Welcome home, Daddy.

I made a new friend today.

I have seen that video
a couple hundred times.

But I had no idea it was my
old man in the front seat.

[Hugo] Day it all went down.

No one ever saw Christian
Maddox with the money again.

That’s not true, is it?

I pulled him out of that river.

[thunderclap]

Where’s Uncle Logan?

[sighs] He’s still not here.

- I’m up next!
- [Sam] I’m well aware of that.

Oh, he’s here now.

Okay, good luck, buddy.

- Hey, bud.
- Where were you?

[Logan] Long story.

You’re about to
be real surprised,

but I want you to stay calm
and breathe through it.

Logan, what’s going on?

- Sup, kid.
- Why is Ray next to me?

Longer story, but
you’re racing him.

What happened to Olaf?

[Logan] Zac, focus.

You have to win this race.

[sighs]

[dings]

[engine revving]

- [dings]
- [engine revs]

- [dings]
- [tires screech]

Walk me through it, Logan.

Where do you want me to start?

Take a wild guess.

[Logan] The day of the robbery,

while you were in the bank with
Ezra and Finn, Christian got a text.

[alarm blaring]

It said, "Pick up.
Listen. Don’t talk."

[tires screech]

[phone rings]

[Logan] The voice told him
it was gonna go sideways.

Who called him?

He said just somebody
who owed him a favor.

Christian didn’t know who
to trust. He texted me.

I told him to meet me at the
spot where we used to go fishing.

[panting] Keep
these safe for me.

He said he’d be back.

Took the money.

And I never saw
my brother again.

[phone chimes]

They want to meet up.

[Caitlyn chuckles]

Yo, we got the group text.

- Are you on it yet?
- I sent it.

Oh, yeah. Well, welcome
to the group finally.

Okay, what’s going on?

It’s finished.

- What?
- Dad’s car. It’s ready.

Wait, but I haven’t
painted it yet.

Okay, aesthetically,
it’s not ready.

You can paint it
before the race,

but we just wanted you guys to
be here for when we turn the key.

[chuckles] Can’t believe
this is actually happening.

Yeah, it was the
best group text ever.

- [chuckles]
- Okay. [sighs] Let’s do this.

- Give me the keys.
- No, dude.

Caitlyn.

- Me?
- Yeah. It’s your baby.

Our baby.

The baby’s almost in college with you
two milking this moment. Let’s go.

Yeah, just seriously.
Just give me the keys.

I got it.

Should we count down?

If you want.

Countdown moment. Come on.

- All right, 20, 19...
- Dude.

...18... What? It was a joke.

Solid.

Thank you.

All right, are we
doing this or what?

- You guys ready?
- Ready.

- [Marcel] And five...
- [all] ...four, three, two,

- one.
- [engine cranks]

[engine sputters, stalls]

[engine sputters, stalls]

Okay. Uh, hey, try it
again. Just don’t flood it.

Okay.

[engine cranks, revs]

[engine sputters]

[engine stalls]

- [car door opens]
- The group chat built up expectations.

- Yeah.
- Okay. Both of you, over there.

Ignition module?

I... We replaced it.

It’s not brand new, but
it was in good shape.

This is like when I saw
John Wick 4 in IMAX,

and a fire alarm went off
right before the ending.

- Distributor?
- No.

How is this the same?

We stood outside wondering if we’d
get to see the ending, just like now.

It seems fine.

- Are we gonna get to see the ending?
- Not tonight.

Maybe tomorrow.

I’m sorry, Cate.

Hey, you.

Hey, I can’t really talk.
I’m just grabbing stuff.

Zac said you were almost
finished with the car.

It won’t start. [sighs]

But it’s close.

I mean, I hope so.

Curtis is beating
himself up about it.

Engines are like his
thing. [chuckles]

And what’s your thing?

Everything else. [sighs]

So when the engine finally
starts, what’s next?

Maybe like an old
Camaro or something?

I meant what’s next
for Caitlyn Torres?

Good question. [scoffs]

[Hugo] Shouldn’t take long.

What do they want?

No idea.

Then how do you know
it won’t take long?

- A hunch.
- [chuckles]

Such a cop word.

- Is not.
- Who else says "hunch"?

[Hugo sighs]

We’re here.

You know about this place?

You know about this place?

Obviously.

Why obviously?

No reason.

You been doing
business with Ray?

Relax. It’s ancient history.

Sort of.

Who are you racing tomorrow?

Uh, Olaf.

- Who?
- Yeah.

His name is Olaf. He’s
like a old-school guy.

He’s been racing for
years. He’s really good.

- Mmm. Is he Norwegian?
- What?

No, dude, he’s from Philly.

Oh. That’s weird.

Your name is Marcel.
Are you from France?

- [laughing]
- Okay! You made your point.

Hey, it’s okay if
you lose tomorrow.

Dude, I am so much better
than you guys all remember.

I-I didn’t mean anything by it.

Hey, have you guys seen Curtis?

Oh, he’s trying to get
the engine to start.

Putting a lot of
pressure on himself.

I haven’t seen him
since homecoming.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’m... I’m not worried.

Mmm, you look worried.

Okay, I am worried, but
about something different.

I applied for a design internship
in New York City over winter break.

Wait, you applied to that?

Did you?

Yeah.

Awkward.

I hope you don’t get it.

Well, I-I hope you don’t get it.

I hope neither of
you guys get it.

[Zac sighs]

Gentlemen.

So, what do you think
of my place, Sheriff?

Is the smug taunting necessary?

It looks rinky-dink to me.

All right. Let’s get to it.

Great.

Hugo had a hunch this
wouldn’t take long.

A hunch?

Okay, Columbo.

Ray told me there’s a private car
collection in town worth ten million.

[Logan] Bruce Whitaker?

You don’t really think you could
steal that collection, do you?

If I have any extra time, I’ll
grab your old Mustang too.

I always loved that thing.

You two morons are not
getting in that room.

- I’ve been there.
- [Ezra] Yeah.

And that’s why you’re here.

You’re gonna help us do it.

Can you believe they’re
almost finished?

Well, when Cate sets
her mind to something...

You okay?

Just a lot going on right now.

[sighs] Are you sure
this is a good idea?

Zac’s race.

It’s tonight?

You forgot.

- He’s ready.
- Logan, tell me what’s going on.

I’m just in a bit
of a situation.

Anything to do with Ezra
Martinez getting out of prison?

You mind if we go for a drive?

- It’s all my fault!
- [Caitlyn laughs] Dude, stop.

We’re gonna find what
we need. Seriously.

Maybe down that row?

Oh, no, we already
went down that row.

Are you sure?

Plymouth wagon, 56 Buick,

a couple pickups, an
American Firebird.

You remember every
car down that row?

Not every car.

- I can’t believe we’re at the finish line.
- Yeah. Almost.

It’s gonna be weird not going
to the garage every day.

You can still come.

Uh, no. I think I’m gonna finally
help my dad finish fixing the boat.

Cool.

When we get it back out on the
lake, you’re my first invite.

Not Brooke?

I like her.

I know.

And I... I like
that she likes me.

Why wouldn’t she? You’re great.

I wish we could just
start over, Curtis.

[chuckling] You
wanna start over?

The engine had a bird’s nest in
it when we started, remember?

No, I’m... I’m, like,
I’m talking about...

Jackpot.

Distributor?

A boy can dream.

Okay.

Okay, moment of truth.

Oh! Okay.

That is a distributor with
magnetic pickups. Come on.

[chuckles]

Hey, new guy.

You’re going back to that?

Yeah, I’m feeling nostalgic.

Did you hear what
happened to Harris?

- No.
- Got suspended.

- For being a d*ck?
- No.

- [Zac chuckles]
- Well, sort of, I guess.

He stole that gross limo from homecoming
and destroyed the football field.

- That was him?
- Mm-hmm.

So, he’s not here today?

I’m glad you know
what suspended means.

Should we like hold hands
in the hallway or something?

No.

Oh, no, yeah. That’s cool. I
didn’t want to hold hands anyways.

Look, I really like you.

Uh-oh.

But I’m not even close to
being ready to go there.

[sighs] It’s cool.

- It is?
- I’ll wait.

Just like that?

I’m just glad I got to make
out with you on a racetrack.

Hey. Wait. [laughs]

We didn’t make out. We just...

we kissed.

[chuckles] What’s
the difference?

Making out is like
continuous kissing.

[chuckles] You know I’m actually
going back to the racetrack tonight.

My mom agreed to let me
race against somebody.

Well, good luck.

[chuckles] Thanks.

[engine revs]

Better.

- [engine stops]
- You’re welcome.

You paid for these upgrades?

He’s gonna pay me back.

With what?

Give us a minute.

Uh, you’re serious?

Hey, go away now.

You know I don’t have
the money for all this.

Well, there’s another
way to pay me back.

I want you to meet my dad.

Who’s your dad?

Ezra Martinez.

Wait, from the...

Yeah, that’s him.

The one who got caught,
and he just got out.

- I told him about you.
- Why?

He’s got something coming up.

You know what? I’m, uh...

I’m good.

You know, I got a lot going on.
I got my race in a couple days.

I probably should,
you know, focus on...

Well, thanks to me, you got
that burst you need to win.

And all of this wasn’t
a friendly gift.

Hey, babelicious.
What’s going on?

Please don’t call me that.

It’s a compliment. It
means you’re a babe.

And delicious?

Yeah. Whatever.

Um, so my brother’s
like super pissed.

At who?

Harris totaled his limo.

Okay, why are you telling me?

Well, we shared the limo, so
we’re all kind of on the hook.

For what?

Eleven hundred each.

I’m not paying for
that gross limo.

- That’s a little selfish.
- Noah!

- Can we... can we stop?
- Stop what?

This.

- This conversation about the limo?
- No. This.

Still don’t know what "this" is.

Neither do I, and
that’s the problem.

I... I don’t know why
I’m still with you.

Fine. Babe, look, you don’t
have to pay the 1,100.

- I’ll take care of it...
- I was never gonna pay the 1,100.

I don’t want to be
with you anymore.

I’m sorry.

Is this about the
babelicious thing? Or...

[bell ringing]

Brooke.

Marcel.

- Good luck with the internship.
- Don’t need it.

Neither do I.

- Hmm.
- [Mrs. Oleato] Okay, class.

I have an announcement.

Please have your seats.

Uh, some of you applied
for a design internship

in New York over
the winter break,

and as of eight minutes ago, they
still haven’t made their decision.

They said by end of day, so
please check in with me later.

Just delaying the inevitable.

Are we like bitter rivals now?

I don’t know why I said it like that.
I’m coming off as a villain, aren’t I?

- I don’t hate it.
- Really?

Friendly competition.

- Okay. Your turn.
- Um...

You’re about to go downtown.

Downtown? Like main street?

No, dude. That’s like really bad.
Okay, just let me be the villain.

Okay. Yeah. [chuckles]

All these years, you
didn’t think to tell me?

Guess I thought I
was protecting you.

So who called
Christian that day?

He just said it was somebody
who lost a race to him.

Owed him a favor.

Whoever it was probably
saved his life.

And he would’ve come
back to us, Sam.

But somebody told the
police he was the driver.

It was blacked-out windows.

Nobody would’ve ever
known it was him.

Is that everything?

I wish it was. [sighs]

I want you to hear this from
me, in case it comes out.

I told you how Christian and I were
gonna take over the racing world.

He’d be the star,
I’d be by his side.

- That was our dream.
- And then I got pregnant.

I was young, arrogant, angry.

I’d been paying for
all his training.

And I got that money from...

[sighs]

You know how I got it.

I ain’t proud of that.

But I did what I had to
do because we had a dream.

When that dream died suddenly, I
told him he had to pay me back.

So I introduced him
to the wrong people.

What are you talking about?

They needed a driver.

So I gave ’em one.

They asked for my help.

So you gave them
your little brother?

[Sam exhales sharply]

["Living Feeling Dead"
playing on speaker]

- Is this gonna work?
- Hopefully.

Okay, you can’t be that close.

- Why?
- You’re hovering.

- I’m observing.
- Caitlyn.

Curtis hates judgmental
observation. Look at Marcel.

He’s standing the
appropriate distance away.

I pride myself on
respecting personal space.

[sighs] I just need to know if
this thing’s gonna be ready.

And I need time to paint it.

We’re doing everything
we can. Okay?

And you guys really aren’t
coming to my race tonight?

Okay, what do you want? Do you want us to
finish the car or to come to your race?

- Both.
- [Curtis chuckles]

And remember, don’t be
discouraged if you lose.

I’m so far past where
you guys think I am.

I’m actually good.

Don’t get all grumpy about it.

- Hovering.
- Sorry.

God.

- Darren. Hey.
- Hey.

- Got a second?
- Uh... [chuckles]

Running late to a
meeting, what’s up?

I have a question about
your race with Christian.

I thought we talked about this.

No, you only told me
about half the bet.

You didn’t tell
me what you lost.

Uh... A favor.

Was it you that called
him during the robbery?

I know he got a call.

This meeting is just gonna
take a few minutes, Sam.

If you could just wait.

No, I’ve been waiting 17
years. Your meeting can wait.

Yeah.

He won.

I lost.

He didn’t want the keys
to my dad’s Corvette.

He just wanted me
to owe him a favor.

I guess back then it was a good thing
to have a Bowers in your back pocket.

And how did you know
he needed your help?

My family had a majority
interest in the bank.

My dad got a tip that there
was gonna be a robbery one day.

I mean he had details.

Like down to the people
that were involved.

Something did not seem right.

So when I found out Christian was
driving the car, I called him.

I owed him that.

I... I really gotta get
to this meeting. So...

Darren.

Do you know who told the police
that Christian was driving?

So, these are the
cars that we want.

And I-I threw your old Mustang
up there just to piss you off.

D-bag.

And as I said, we need a driver.

Got two right now. Hopefully
three. Including Ray.

What are you getting outta this?

- It was my idea.
- [Logan] A bad one.

I told you, I’ve seen Whitaker’s
security system up close.

I’m looking at a couple
of small-time punks

who are never gonna
get away with this.

Yeah, well, glad
you brought it up.

We need that security code.

And you’re restoring
one of his cars.

I can’t get that code, dummy.

- Then you can drive.
- If you don’t wanna drive, don’t worry,

I told them I was training a new guy
recently who’d be a great replacement.

And, uh, he still owes me a car.

- Ray, I swear to God. I...
- He’s just trying to get to you.

All right. What’s
my role in this?

You can take the
night off, Sheriff.

[sighs]

- [Noah] Yo. Where you been?
- Around.

- Hanging with your new crew?
- [scoffs]

Yo. You really messed up
my brother’s limo, man.

- Tell him I said sorry.
- As long as that sorry comes with a check.

[scoffs] You actually
asking me for money?

Harris.

I'm asking you to do
the right thing, man.

Give me a couple of days.

Yeah.

[inhales sharply]
Kiara and I broke up.

It was mutual. [scoffs]
For the better.

But, uh... looks like we're
both single and ready to mingle.

You doing okay?

Yeah. I'll be all right.

You hear about
that race tonight?

That Maddox kid is gonna
be at Seven Springs.

There's Alicia, man.

[sighing] Harris,
I don't wanna talk.

You don't even have to listen. Okay? I
just need to say a few things out loud.

- Okay, I'm, uh... sorry that went...
- We are so far past "sorry."

I know. I just, uh... [sighs]

you deserve to hear it.

Is that it?

I'm kinda lost right now. And
I don't expect you to care,

I just don't know anyone
else who would care.

- What do you want me to say?
- I don't know.

I just don't recognize
myself anymore.

Okay, you said you missed the
old Harris Bowers. And so do I.

Well, like you said. He's gone.

Maybe he's still
in there somewhere.

Even if he is...

Look, I'm not saying we get back
together. Okay, I don't deserve that.

But I was hoping you'd do that
thing where you see the good in me.

Okay, I really need
that right now.

More than you know.

[sighs]

I can't be that person
for you anymore.

Hello, Brooke.

Why'd you say it like that?

- Well, we're rivals.
- [scoffs]

Hey, Marcel.

Huh, suddenly you're
not the villain?

Not anymore.

- You heard from 'em?
- Mmm.

You didn't get it?

[sighs]

I got it.

Oh.

Which means I didn't. [sighs]

I'm sorry.

Mmm. It's okay.

I mean... Look, dude. If it
makes you feel any better,

I was secretly rooting
for you the whole time.

- No offense, Brooke, but...
- [stammers] I mean it's fine.

You're obviously
fired. But I get it.

I barely work here.

Hey, look. On the bright side we
get to hang out all winter break.

- You like snowmobiling?
- Yeah.

I like snowmobiling.

Well, too bad.

I didn't wanna go anyway.

[both chuckle]

[pop music playing on speakers]

Bad time?

Hi.

No, not really.

Just, uh... taking a break.

Curtis went to the diner to
get some food and see Brooke.

That's still happening?

I was driving by and I realized
I've never even been in here.

- This is where you spend all your time.
- Not all my time.

- Most of it.
- [chuckles]

So is this what you've
been working on?

This was my dad's car.

We did a full rebuild on it.

We're almost finished
actually. I hope.

We installed the distributor,

but I was, uh, looking at the manual
because I don't know if, uh...

we're pulling enough
vacuum for the advance.

Needs new paint...
[chuckling] ...obviously.

How'd you learn to do all this?

My Uncle Logan
taught me. Mostly.

So what I'm hearing is you
might have some free time soon.

[smacks lips] I guess I will.

Good to know.

[Caitlyn sighs]

Haven't had a chance
to congratulate you.

Homecoming queen.

It's always been a dream
of mine to win that crown.

- Really?
- No.

So, anyway...

I don't know if you noticed
this, but when I won,

- they asked me to choose a dance partner...
- I noticed.

What if I had picked you?

Then I would've danced with you.

[scoffs] It's just
that easy for you?

Nothing's easy.

[inhales sharply] I'll let you
get back to work. [chuckles]

Oh, um...

by the way, I
broke up with Noah.

Kinda buried the lede there.

I feel like I'm getting
closer to who I am.

But I'm not quite there yet.

I only have 15 minutes.

Yeah, your assistant told
me about your busy schedule.

Who do you think
you're talking to?

My former best friend?

Former because of you.

You're still upset
that I left Ironwood?

Can you guess why
I'm upset right now?

Nobody knew Christian
was in that car, Kelly.

I confided in you, my best
friend, and you told the police?

I was protecting you.

You robbed my kids of a father.

He was a criminal.

He belonged in prison.

He was a kid.

Who got his girlfriend
pregnant and made a mistake.

Pretty big mistake.

- [tittering]
- Hey, stranger.

- Hey.
- He comes out of his cave.

- Seeking food.
- [chuckles]

I heard you're almost done.

Hopefully.

So what you gonna do with all that free
time? Now that winter break's coming up.

Uh, probably help my
dad with his boat.

You have a boat?

- Sort of.
- [chuckles]

I'll be around if
you wanna hang out.

Oh. Um...

I can't.

- Oh.
- I-I mean, I want to.

I'm just gonna be in New York.

- When?
- Winter break.

I got an internship
at a design school.

Oh, yeah. The one
Marcel applied for.

Yeah, I-I feel kinda
bad about that.

But I'm so excited.

I wanna work on movies someday.

Maybe set design.

Well, it'll be a little
boring around here.

You wanna come?

- What?
- To visit.

[chuckles] To New York?

Yeah. I'll only be
there a few weeks.

And my uncle has a place in Brooklyn that
he rents out. But I'm getting it for free.

And there's plenty of rooms. So
you could come stay for a weekend,

or... longer. [chuckles]

I don't know, we just started hanging out.
I thought it'd be cool if you were there.

But you have your boat
thing, like you said,

so why don't you just
forget that I said anything.

And I will get you a menu.

You have a menu. [chuckles]

- Wanna order? [sighs]
- Okay.

[inhales sharply]
Ready when you are.

No, I mean, okay.

I'll come visit.

Okay. [chuckles]

[car approaching]

[brakes screech]

You make a decision yet?

Wanted to talk. Just you and me.

Look, you gonna drive,
or get us the code?

Who's this us?

Me and Ezra.

There's no you and Ezra.

Well, it's our plan.

He's just using
you for your shop.

That's where your contribution
to this thing ends.

This is all Ezra.

He just needs you
to get to your dad.

What are you doing, Ray?

Guess I'm just getting paid.

I-I think you wanna show
your pop you're big-time.

But the problem is, you'll
always be small-time.

No, this ain't small-time.

There's nothing wrong with
small-time. That was me.

You know why I did it?

To get enough money to
train my little brother.

- Why-Why're you telling me this?
- Because I know you have the same dream.

I know about your abandoned
airstrip racetrack.

You do all this sh*t
to pay for that.

That's... that's a
hobby. It's not a dream.

Zac was your ticket, wasn't he?

- He still owes me a car, Logan.
- No, he doesn't.

But I tell you what.

I know where you wanna be.

So I have a race for you.

A legit race, at the
speedway. Tonight.

Now if you lose, you
forget about Zac.

He doesn't owe you anything. You
quit dangling that in our faces.

And if I win?

- You won't.
- [chuckles]

I wouldn't be too confident.

Unless you found your
little brother to race me.

Close enough.

Zac?

[tool clanging]

Okay. That's it. [huffs]

- You mean...
- It'll start.

You're sure?

Uh, if I'm wrong, then
I'm hanging up my wrench.

[both chuckle]

- [Caitlyn] So what now?
- Turn the key.

Oh, we have to wait for Zac and
Marcel. I just... I meant like...

[sighs] what now?

I mean, I guess
you have your boat.

I have my eye on an old Camaro
in the junkyard. But, uh...

- I need a break. [sighs]
- Yeah, you deserve it.

So do you.

Uh, Brooke asked me
to come to New York.

Oh.

Like... for, like, a weekend?

Uh, winter break.

The wh-whole break?

I mean, she said I could
just visit, or stay longer.

I don't know. It's up to me.

Hmm. I didn't realize you guys
were that far along. [chuckles]

Oh, we're not.

So you said no?

[sighs] I said yes.

Cool.

Like I said, you
deserve a break.

And New York is great. I can give
you recommendations if you want.

So I guess we'll start the car
when Zac gets back from his race.

- [gasps] Wait, what time is it?
- [engines revving]

- Mom. Where's Uncle Logan?
- I don't know, honey.

I texted him four times.

Okay. Well, maybe five
is the magic number.

- He'll be here.
- Mom.

Okay. I'm texting
him a fifth time.

Thank you. [sighs]

Look at your little racing suit.

This car is sick, dude.

So what are you guys doing here?

We finished it.

Like... finished it-finished it?

Yeah. We're just waiting
on you to start it.

And no countdown this time.

- What? You're blaming the countdown?
- It might've jinxed it. Okay?

- [Caitlyn scoffs]
- Where's Logan?

I'm wondering the same thing.

- Hey, Zac.
- Hmm?

You got this.

[sighs] Thanks.

[engine revving]

[announcer on PA]
Race four is up next.

Drivers, please come
to the starting line.

- [crowd cheers]
- Where's Uncle Logan?

- [radio clicks]
- [sighs] He's still not here.

[exhales sharply] I'm up next.

I'm well aware of that.

Oh, he's here.

Okay, good luck, buddy.

- Sam...
- We'll talk later.

He needs you.

- Hey, bud.
- Where were you?

Long story.

Listen up. You're about
to be real surprised,

but I want you to stay focused

and breathe through it.

- [Zac] Logan? Logan, what's going on?
- [engine revving]

Sup, kid?

Why is Ray next to me?

Longer story, but
you're racing him.

What?

- What happened to Olaf?
- [Logan, on radio] Zac, focus.

You have to win this race.

[sighs]

I've seen Ray race before.

He's good.

You're better. And he knows it.

Now it's time to show
everybody else what you got.

Ray.

I never got to say thank you.
For making me a better driver.

Let's see it then.

[engines revving]

[dings]

[engine revs]

- [dings]
- [engine revs]

- [dings]
- [engines accelerate]

[tires screech]

Looking good.

- All right!
- Whoo!

[crowd cheering]

Nice, nice.

Hold your line. Hold that line.

All right, kid. Let's
see what you got then.

[engine accelerates]

- [brakes screech]
- Damn it!

Okay, he did you dirty
there. Stay with it.

Come on, Zac.

Zac, you got this!

Your brother can drive.

[chuckling] So can yours.

- [Zac] Running out of track here.
- We got two laps left.

[tires screech]

[groans] I can't get past him.

You don't need the brakes.
There's still time. Be patient.

Remember that move we worked on?

Yeah. I do.

Wait for it.

- Hit it.
- [engine accelerating]

Yes!

[cheering]

No, no, no, no, no.

- [Caitlyn cheers]
- All right, dude.

Yes! That's right!

Yeah!

[cheering]

- Go, Zac!
- [chuckling]

- Oh, my God.
- [Curtis] Whoo, yeah!

- [Marcel cheering]
- Wow, Zac.

[Curtis cheering]
Come on! [chuckles]

Ya did good, kid.

[sighs]

- [crowd cheering]
- [announcer speaks indistinctly]

[Curtis cheering]

- [Caitlyn cheering] Go, Zac!
- [Marcel, Curtis cheer]

- [Marcel] Zac attack!
- [Curtis] Whoo! Whoo!

- [chuckles]
- [Curtis] Dude!

[chuckling] Dude! Where
did that come from?

- It's in my blood. [chuckles, sighs]
- [chuckles]

Wanna go start his car?

[huffs]

- I'll meet you guys there.
- Yeah, okay. Just don't be too late.

- Who are you? Mom?
- I just wanna start the car.

Okay. I'll be there soon.

Fine. [chuckling]

Didn't know you were coming.

I was pretty loud out there.

That was you?

- You couldn't hear me. [chuckles]
- [chuckles]

We had a deal, right?

I always keep my word.

I know.

Don't forget you still owe us a
driver. Never got us the code.

[Curtis] Hey.

[chuckles]

That was a good race.

- Yeah. Kid's got it. [sighs]
- Yeah?

Yeah, maybe.

[both chuckle]

See you around, Ray.

[stammers] Hold
up, Curt. I, uh...

There's something
you deserve to know.

You're gonna find out
about it eventually.

'Bout what?

Pop.

[line rings]

What's up?

[Harris] Just needed a
little time to think.

And?

I'm ready to meet your dad.

[Ryan] He's gonna love you.

So what does he need me to do?

What you do best.

[chuckles]

Thanks for driving me home.

No problem.

So, how'd I do?

- You know how you did.
- [chuckles]

Just wanted to see
what you thought.

I still don't think
you should race Harris.

[sighs]

[smacks lips] I should, uh,
probably get back to the garage.

Everyone's waiting for
me to turn the key, so...

Did you ever see my
dad's toy collection?

The top secret room? Nope.

Quick peek?

[beeps, lock clicks]

Okay. This part's actually
kinda cool. [chuckles]

Illuminate.

Nice toys. [chuckles]

Yeah. I thought you'd like them.

He has more but he, uh,
he switches them out.

[clicks tongue] Still wish
he had the Batmobile though.

- I'm sorry. [chuckles]
- [chuckles]

[Zac] This was my
uncle's Mustang.

[sighs]

So how bad is it?

There's a plan.

Involving you?

I don't have a choice.

So he just wants his money?

And we don't have it.

- And what if you did?
- [scoffs]

Well, that would solve
a lot of problems.

- I know where it is.
- What?

How?

I helped him bury it.

[thunderclap]

[footsteps approaching]

- Hey.
- Hey.

You okay?

Head's spinning a little bit.

About what?

New York?

No, it's... [sighs]
...something Ray told me.

All right. Marcel is insisting
on doing another countdown.

- I never said that.
- [chuckles]

[Curtis] Okay, guys. [stammers]
Let's... let's just do it.

- [Zac] Yeah.
- Yeah. Let's do this.

- Back seat middle. [chuckles]
- Move over, dude.

[chuckles]

Okay.

[sighs]

Ready to hear Dad's
voice for the first time?

[engine starts]

- [engine revs]
- [Zac, Marcel, Curtis cheering, laughing]

[engine revving]
