TJ: There it goes.
There it goes.

NARRATOR: On this episode of
Wicked Tuna, Outer Banks...

JOE: Come on. We're on.
TYLER: We're on.

CLIFF: Oh, there he is.
Damn, that's a big fish.

DIRTY: It look like
a real one, dude.
JOE: A screamer!

NARRATOR: With the
clock ticking down...

NICK: I don't think the
quota's gonna last very long.

DALE: Things are bad.
TYLER: Worst-case scenario.

NARRATOR: The competition
between north and south...

NICK: That's why Little
Shell's gonna finish on top.

TJ: Nick better not get too
comfortable because we're
gunning for that top spot.
JARRETT: Woo.

NARRATOR: Hurdles into
maximum overdrive.
JOE: We're on.

DIRTY: Pinwheel better
watch his a*s because
we're right there in it.

TYLER: It's the red boat
versus the Rasta boat.

NARRATOR: As the northern
captains battle to get ahead..
DUFFY: Yeah.

NARRATOR: Of a relentless
southern fleet.

CHARLIE: Tell the Yankees that's
what bluefin tunas look like.

NICK: Freaking set it on fire.
NARRATOR: This is...

TYLER: Tunas everywhere.
DAVE M: We did it Yankee style.

NARRATOR: Wicked
Tuna Outer Banks.

TYLER: It's a battle royal.

NARRATOR: Southern boat Little
Shell leads the fleet, but
northern rival Hot Tuna

is less than eighteen
hundred dollars behind.

Meanwhile, Pinwheel holds
the edge over former
champion Fishin' Frenzy,

while Falcon and Foolish
Pleasures struggle for
paychecks.

[music]

TJ: We're one
behind Little Shell.

It's anybody's game, dude,
so, let's get out there, give it
hell. You guys are doing good.

Awesome, I can't wait.
All right, let's roll.

JARRETT: We're clear.
TJ: All right.

We came in last place
last season down here
and it was humiliating.

So right now, this is all about
redeeming ourselves, and proving
the Hot Tuna is a contender.

MIKE: Little Shell's
leaving the dock.

TJ: Nick better not get too
comfortable because we're
gunning for that top spot.

It's 3:00 am, so we've got get
out there for that first bite
and to get a jump on everybody.

But that's also the most
dangerous time to leave,
with the dark and the fog.

NICK: Everything's ready.
We got her going,

just untie the stern
and we'll get out of here.

BRANDAN: All right, man.
We're free.

NICK: We're in first place in
earnings. It feels awesome.

I like the view from the top,
so I plan on staying right
here all the way to the end.

I honestly don't think the
quota's gonna last very long.

It's only like 39 metric tons
and we can't afford any more
time off the water

with this quota filling up.

I'm nervous, bud.

CLIFF: As long you don't hit no
boats, don't worry about it.

NICK: How about as long
as I don't hit nothing?

CLIFF: That wouldn't be good.

NICK: You think TJ would have
come out here in the fog? I
doubt it.

That's why Little Shell
is gonna finish on top.

We take the risk, we're locals.

This is our backyard.

Plot line and a prayer.

TJ: This is gnarly. Not so much
like fog, it's like smoke on the
water.

I know I'm pushing the envelope
this year more than ever before.

But it's neck and
neck right now.

We're within one fish of
the lead, we've got to go.

We got to get around
all this apparatus.

Look at all these cranes and
barges, and mooring ba*ls.

It's bad enough getting
through this in the daylight,
let alone in the dark.

JARRETT: A [bleep] nightmare.
You can't even tell where the
hell to go.

TJ: It's very sketchy. Get under
the bridge safely.

This makes my job
extremely harder.

JARRETT: Scare the
hell out of you.

TJ: Unbelievable.

NICK: Oh, boy. I can't see 75
yards. Keep following the spot.

That ain't a boat coming, is it?
What's that?

CLIFF: Might be a boat.
NICK: Damned if it ain't.

NICK: I'm outbound, man. I
couldn't see you until it's too
late.

I'm committed now.
Let me come on.

MAN: Okay.

NICK: Thanks, Mack.

Damn, that sucked.

TJ: I got to get
across this bar safely.

I'm not gonna be able
to see the waves until I
physically get into the bar.

JARRETT: It's a little sketchy.
MIKE: You ain't kidding.

TJ: Hang on. Hang on. Hang on.

MIKE: Look at all the
whitewater ripping across.
TJ: [bleep].

This is fun, huh?
JARRETT: Yeah, it's breaking.

TJ: Look at that.
MIKE: Oh, my God, look at it.
TJ: That's cute, huh?

I think that's the worst of it.
We made it. Oh.

We're just gonna
ease on out there.

Hopefully we keep it rolling.

NICK: I can't see a damn thing.

CLIFF: All right. Keep her
going.

NICK: Hang on.
CLIFF: Keep her going.
Keep her going.

[music]

All right, all right.

[music]

NICK: There's the green can. We
made it! That's our turn.

All right, boys.

That's about a two and a half
hour ride and we'll be fishing.

Can't hold the
Little Shell down.

DIRTY: Are you ready,
master and commander?

GREG: Yeah. We've been the top
boat three out of the last four
years, now we're in fifth place.

Far worse than that, we're
behind the Pinwheel.

I can't think of anything
more embarrassing.

Are you over your flat line?
BILLON: You're okay.

I got it short.
GREG: Okay.

We just need one good fish to
pull ahead of those guys,

then we're going after the
rest of the fleet.

Okay. So here we are. We're
ready. Almost in position.

We actually have the advantage
over most boats because we can
get out to the fishing grounds
much faster.

Completely different
ballgame for them.

And we take advantage of that.

I just rolled out of bed a
couple hours ago, and here
I am ready to set out.

Now we need a fish.

NICK: We're gonna get a bite.
Just have confidence.

We're just getting to the
depth we wanna be at now.

BRANDAN: Yeah, pretty good spot.
NICK: Really. This is the spot,

CLIFF: This is, this
is a great spot.

Just watch the rods.

We're just ahead of
getting the bite.

BILLON: All right, we're here.

GREG: Here they are. Just marked
a herd with me.

They're down there at 90 fathom.

We'll get a bite here.

Come on, baby.

GREG: My God! [bleep] piled on
it.

BILLON: Got 'em on.
DIRTY: Piled on it right
there dude.

BILLON: [bleep]! Got 'em on!
Woo.

GREG: Bam!

NICK: Pisses me off.

TJ: Greggy's down and tight,
baby. [bleep] the world.

BILLON: Feels like it's what we
want. That was awesome.

DIRTY: He got the bait up
there where it was just
skipping on top again,

and we could see it
was finally just piled on it,
man, a really cool crash like.

GREG: Good?

DIRTY: Come on in.

DIRTY: yup, yup.

I can see him right there now.

BILLON: Come on, baby. All
right, he's coming at us.

Come up right here.

Beautiful. Como on man.

BILLON: Got him!

DIRTY: Okay, he's leaking.
GREG: Nice shot!

BILLON: Right in the pec.
GREG: Oh, yeah.

Pull up on him there, Billon.
Pull, pull, pull!

GREG: All right. [bleep].
BILLON: You get him?
GREG: No.

BILLON: He's mad. That's okay.
We'll get him.

Go nice and easy here.

Got him! Game over!
GREG: Nice fish.

Nice early morning,
the way we like it.

I think we're fishing
for 15 minutes today.

DIRTY: Let's go to jolly
roger for breakfast.

GREG: Yeah. [laughs]

Now, that's the way
to start the day.

Set out, hook a tuna,
going home for breakfast.

DIRTY: What we got?
What you got down there?
BILLON: Ninety-two.

DIRTY: All right, I'll take it.
Ninety-two on the nose.

Ninety-two. We'll take it.
GREG: Cool.

DIRTY: Pinwheel better watch
his a*s and get some Rogaine,
he's gonna be pulling his hair

out, checking his six because
we're right there in it.

BILLON: That's right.

NICK: [bleep].
-Ohhh.

CHARLIE: Greg who? Pretty work,
man. Good going.

BILLON: Thank you.
Glad to have him.
STEVE: Yeah, good for him.

NICK: Frenzy sucks. Whatever.
Can't catch but one a day.

DIRTY: One fish. One fish.

CLIFF: We need to
still get one today.

TJ: Greg has a huge advantage
here because he's fast as
[bleep].

MIKE: Typical.

DAVE M: Seems like he comes
out here, he throws the
rigs out, 10 minutes later,

the rod bends over, and
off he goes for home.

And we're just
getting in the game.

DALE: True Frenzy fashion,
fishing for 12 minutes, he's on
his way home with a paycheck.
He's back.

TYLER: It's like demoralizing.
It's like, gah!

Man, he's a tough guy to fish
against, that's why he's our
number one competition.

It's the red boat versus
the Rasta boat, and it's
a, it's a battle royale.

BILLON: We're coming for
everybody, man. Watch out. Woo.

[music]

MIKE: It's looking real fishy.

TJ: A lot of slicks around,
a lot of flat spots,
trying to find the mark,

haven't found it yet,
but this is the best I've
seen it look this year.

A jungle, Africa
under me right now.

TJ: Right off our bow.

MAN: All right,
there's the mark.

TJ: I can't believe we
haven't marked 'em yet.

NICK: Just marked 'em
twice here at 15 fathom.

BRITTON: Woo. That's the meat.
I ain't joking.

CHARLIE: That's bluefins.

Tell the Yankees that's
what bluefin tunas look
like in North Carolina.

TJ: We steamed out here at 3:00
am, hoping to get an early bite,
only to get shown up by Frenzy.

BRITTON: Damn, dude! Now look
off your bow, that's a five
hundred-pounder Look at that.

TJ: Now it seems that every
Southern boat around us is
marking, and we're not.

Unbelievable.
MAN: I see 'em. I see 'em!

TJ: I have not seen the
mark like these other
guys are seeing it.

Seems like every boat that's
gotten over them has gotten bit.

Please let me get over them.

We've got to show these
Southern boys that nothing's
gonna stop us this year.

CHARLIE: This, my friends, is
how this party gets started.

We were gonna go fishing
earlier, but the fog was real
bad, so we waited for daylight.

A little breezy this morning, a
little rough, but the forecast
is calling for lots of damn
fish.

The radio has been blowing up
with people marking, but with
the quota dwindling,

we've got to get
us a tuna fast before those
northerners catch it all up.

My plan is to catch one and go
home. That's my plan.

Woo, just sit your butt right
down
CAMERAMAN: Yeah.

CHARLIE: That way, you don't
have to worry about it.
CAMERAMAN: All right.

CHARLIE: In general, bluefin
fishing in the Outer Banks in
the dead of winter is not a safe
job.

You know, it's windy,
it's rough, and if
something bad happens,

I'd be responsible for that.
I'd feel terrible, you know.

So we take safety very
seriously, we can't
afford to be reckless. Okay.

I smell 'em.

MIKE: They almost smell like
a sweet, like a watermelon.

I smell 'em a lot.

TJ: That's the meat right
there, buddy. Here it comes,
hundred foot.

That is the M-E-A-T.

CHARLIE: There's the
Hot Tuna over there.

I'll be damned if we don't
get a bite before TJ does.

Settled in here.

STEVE: There we go. Got 'em on,
Griff. Got 'em on, Griff!

CHARLIE: That's a bluefin.
STEVE: Yup.

CHARLIE: I got you. Go ahead.
Throw the yellow ball.

STEVE: That's good. It's good.
It's good. It's good. It's good.

CHARLIE: Big marks out here.
Got 'em on. Unh!

TJ: Griff's hooked up.

JARRETT: We just
need one good one.

There we go!

Got one.

We're on.

MIKE: Getting the stick in, so
we don't get all tangled here.

You wanna come around this side?

TJ: We're hooked up, boys.

CHARLIE: Hot Tuna hooked up.

There's the fish
right there, bud.

Coming to the top,
see that shine?

STEVE: That's what I wanna see.
Just pull him up here. Easy.

CHARLIE: Easy, brother. I'm
telling you, he's pulling.

STEVE: That hurt. If this one
wins, I'm gonna be mad.

MIKE: Nice fish, man.

JARRETT: Hit this thing
like a freight train.

Took a lot of line.

Gonna have eyes on
him in a second here.

Right here, oh!

TJ: You're kidding me.
JARRETT: Shark!

TJ: Ugh. Shark?

MIKE: It's a [bleep] mako.
TJ: Dammit. We got a shark.

MIKE: Chewed it off. He's gone.

JARRETT: That's the biggest
mako we've ever caught.

TJ: Not what we wanted.

No tuna for us. We got a shark.
Damn sharks.

CHARLIE: Easy,
easy, easy, easy!

STEVE: [inaudible]

I think.

CHARLIE: Man overboard! Oh, no.
Watch out for sharks.

Come on, man. Grab the, grab the
rope!

JARRETT: It's a shark!
TJ: Ugh. Shark?
MIKE: Mako.

JARRETT: That's the biggest
Mako we've ever caught.

TJ: Not what we wanted.

No tuna for us. We got a shark.

CHARLIE: Easy,
easy, easy, easy!

STEVE: [inaudible] I think.

CHARLIE: Man overboard! Oh, no.
STEVE: Damn.

CHARLIE: Watch out for sharks.
Come on, man. Grab the, grab the
rope! We'll get you, man.

STEVE: I got this
one, I got the fish.

CHARLIE: Hang on, Russell.
Got him.

STEVE: I got the fish.
CHARLIE: Don't lose him.
STEVE: No.

Don't lose the cameraman.

Tell me when you're good, boss.

You all right, buddy? You good?

STEVE: He's gonna get,
he's gonna get cold.

STEVE: Hell no, the
camera's gone, bud.

That thing's shark bait.

Let's do, let's get this fish,
right. I want my fish.

RUSSELL: I'll get
the other camera.
STEVE: Okay.

CHARLIE: All right. I got this.

Pretty close here.
STEVE: What's up?

CHARLIE: Get a gaff, quick.

Come on, buddy.

There you go. There you go.

All right. Looks like I got him.

You got something
there now, Steve. Hey.

STEVE: What?
CHARLIE: That's pretty.

STEVE: You all right?
RUSSELL: Yeah, thank you.

[music]

CHARLIE: Crazy [bleep].

STEVE: Good?

CHARLIE: Yeah.

Grab that b*stard.

[music]

Wicked.

He's eighty-two and a half
inches. Dude!

Steve, you are the man, buddy!
STEVE: You're the man.

No, you're the man.
Glad you're all right.

CHARLIE: Well, I don't know
if y'all got all of that.

Anytime a man's overboard,
it's a disaster in the making.

You know, he had all
the clothes on, he had
the camera on his back.

He was unable to swim, but not
only that, TJ's right beside
us, and he just had a shark on.

So many things that could've
happened that could've made it
a lot worse, but all in all,

he lucked out.

All's well that ends well.

Hallelujah!

Hey, that's gonna make
for a great story.

You'll be able to tell
your grandchildren that.

[music]

GREG: Score one for the south.

I don't think we were fishing
SCOTT: Wow, that's crazy.

So what do you say,
you want to get him up?

GREG: Yeah, let's
bring him up here.
SCOTT: Let's do it.

GREG: So far this season, we've
averaged a little over 12
dollars a pound and we're really

hoping to do better than that
with this fish, so we can get
ahead of those Northern boats,

the Pinwheel and the Hot Tuna.

How about it? What do we got
there? Nice-looking fish.

SCOTT: Gonna have 342 pounds
dressed.

-Thanks man, all right
-Yeah, another day
another dollar.

GREG: Let's see
what he looks like.
SCOTT: All right.

GREG: The buyer's looking at
the color and the fat content to
determine the price per pound.

SCOTT: Good color on this one.
GREG: Yeah, he does. He's got
a little fat too.
SCOTT: Yeah.

GREG: More fat means better
quality and a better price.

-Let's check out the core.
-Yeah, let's see what we got
there. Oh, very nice.

BILLON: Uh-hmm.
SCOTT: Yeah, good core.
GREG: Good job, boys.

All right, Scott.
What can you do?

SCOTT: This fish will get
you guys

GREG: Fourteen? Okay.

We'll take it.
BILLON: Yes. Another paycheck.

GREG: Not a bad
couple hours work.

That gives us nearly $4,800
and the rest of the day off.

SCOTT: Real good job, guys.
GREG: Hope we'll see you
tomorrow.

We're gonna head
back out at midnight.
SCOTT: Nice. Sounds good.

GREG: This fish puts us
ahead of the Pinwheel.

Tuna, tuna, tuna.

[music]

CHARLIE: Here's another
one for the South. Hey, guys.
MARY: Hey, Charlie!

CHARLIE: Daggum, we're lucky
enough to get another one, man.

That was awesome.
MARY: Welcome back.

Let's get him up
here and take a look.

CHARLIE: Let's see what we got.

So far this year, we've got
$20 for our first bluefin
and $18 for our second,

so we'd be very happy
with the price per pound
in that same range.

MARY: Two hundred and
thirty-three pounds dressed.

CHARLIE: Wow,
that's pretty good.

MARY: Well, let's see what
she looks like on the inside.
CHARLIE: All right.

All right.

What do you think?

MARY: Here you can see some
fat starting to fan out here.

There's a nice oily feel to it.

Let's see the, what
the core looks like.

CHARLIE: Pretty good.
MARY: Yup, it's clear.

CHARLIE: What do you think?
MARY: Well, Charlie,

$18 dollars a pound.
CHARLIE: That's gonna work.

That's gonna be good.
STEVE: That's good.
Good job, man.

CHARLIE: Attaboy, Steve. Thank
you. That's awesome.

MARY: Hope to see you tomorrow.
CHARLIE: All right.

And we are gonna be
back here tomorrow.

DAVE M: It's definitely a
little, a little sporty
out here.

Well, so far for us,
it's pretty slow today.

After catching our first fish,
we didn't get one last trip.

So I'm determined not to lose
the momentum we got started.

Definitely seems
to make a difference
today without Angelica.

My daughter, Angelica is taking
her youngest sister Eva, to a
"dork convention,"

so, she's not gonna be
with us this trip.

She definitely does
her part around here.

You know, it's rough today,
we're definitely missing that
extra pair of hands, you know.

It's gonna be interesting if Joe
and I can hook up, to see if we
can do it just the two of us.

WILL: We need to
catch a fish here.

DALE: It's just ain't
our year, I guess.

While we're still looking for
our first fish of the season,
the quota is getting eaten up.

WILL: This is the longest that
any of us have been without
catching a bluefin in 10 years.

ED: Do they give
awards for that?

WILL: If they gave out trophies
for being losers, we'd have a
giant shelf full of trophies.

DALE: We've had some great
years in the past and this year
just seems to be about as bad as
you can get.

Everybody down here depends on
these fish to make money in the
winter because there's no other
way to make a living.

There's the Falcon.

So when the Northern
boats come down south
and catch up our quota,

it pisses me off because when we
do start catching, there needs
to be enough quota left

for us to make a paycheck.

The only thing that we've had
going for us is we're still
floating on top of the water

and that's about it.

DAVE M: We're marking another
one, Joe, but he's still
down at 300 feet.

Screw the greenstick.

Go ahead and bring
these in, Joe.

JOE: All right.
DAVE M: All right?

JOE: We've tried
the trolling game.

A lot more in here.

And we keep marking some fish,
but they're hanging down deep.

DAVE M: We're gonna try it
how we got our last fish.

Throw a bait out and
see what happens.

JOE: The southerners swear
by the greenstick, but
we're going old school.

DAVE M: We need something to
change our luck here for today.

Bait and wait.

And we're marking
a fish at 300 fee.

TJ: All right. You're
probably gonna get a bite.

DAVE M: Maybe we can wind
one on the hook here.

We're marking a couple fish now.

TJ: Oh, we need to get
one and get out of here.

I don't wanna sleep out here.

DAVE M: We weren't hitting
'em on the greenstick,
so we switched it up.

We're going Yankee style.

TJ: You're probably
doing the right thing.

DALE: Those Yankees
don't have a clue.

He thinks that's gonna
make a difference?

[laughs]

Oh, [bleep].

Got some good marks
under the boat.
WILL: Nice.

DALE: Yeah, I just marked
the [bleep] out of 'em there.

WILL: All right, we're
gonna get a bite now, Dale.

[music]

JOE: We're on! We're on!
We're on!

DAVE M: Oh, we're on!
JOE: We're on!

TJ: Got a bite?

JOE: Hell yeah.

DAVE M: We're marking a fish
at 300 feet.

JOE: We're on! We're on!
We're on!

DAVE M: We're on!
JOE: We're on!

DAVE M: Gave up on the
greenstick, threw out some
baits, and boom! We're on.

Is he there, Joe?
JOE: Oh, yeah, yeah, he's there.
We really need this one.

DAVE M: That's good, Joe. Yeah.
We're in the game now.

JOE: Hell yeah! It's a screamer!

Yeah, buddy. That's a real one.
That's a bluefin.

DALE: We got to get one
before Dave gets another.

There's a pretty good mark
there at 180 feet down, but it
was definitely the bluefins.

There was no question about it.
WILL: Gotcha.

DALE: I don't know,
maybe we'll get lucky.

Fish on! Right long!
ED: There it goes.

DALE: Got 'em on!
WILL: There he is!

ED: Is that the right one?
WILL: Yeah, we need it now,
buddy.

DALE: Take that, Falcon!
DAVE M: Seems like a big one.

He's really deep.

He's almost got all
the line off the reel.

JOE: We're so, so
far from landing it.

He's still really green. He's
active. He's got a lot of energy
left.

DAVE M: We're well
into the season now.

We've only caught one fish.

I got a new boat and
we need to pay for it.

One fish just
ain't gonna cut it.

Hopefully, we can turn
him before we lose him.

DALE: We need this one, guys.

WILL: Pull forward, Dale.

We're gonna see him in a second.

Another yellowfin tuna.

ED: Yeah, another
freaking yellowfin.

Ain't what we're looking for.

DALE: This year it's our turn
to be last, and it's not a real
fun place to be right now.

We're not thrilled to catch
yellowfin instead of bluefin.
WILL: [bleep] that fish.

DALE: But at least
it pays for dinner.

DALE: Mind you, we're talking
the fast food drive-thru window,

not the fancy-a*s sit-down
dinner.

WILL: This is where we hang out
at, dog, this Loser Mountain.

JOE: Whoa!

Where's Gel to do all
this hard work?

DAVE M: We definitely got
our work cut out for us.

We're missing our buddy, Gel.

She was a lot of help.

All right, let me get
my rod set out there.

If Angelica was here, she could
have been on the controls.

Put 'em both in gear, Gel.
ANGELICA: Both?
DAVE M: Yeah, both.

This trip with just Joe
and I, we added these kind
of throttle extensions.

These little poles right
on the throttle controls.

This way I can
be right back here when
we get this fish close.

JOE: Coming at us a little bit.
Coming towards the starboard.
DAVE M: Yeah.

This year, we can't afford
to lose even one good fish.

We got to make sure
every hook-up counts.

JOE: We got to try to
keep it away from the
bottom of the boat.

If it goes to the prop,
the line's gonna cut and
it's gonna be over fast.

DAVE M: We really
got to get this fish.

JOE: Just got to wait 'em
out, keep dancing with 'em.

DAVE M: You're doing fine,
Joe, you're doing fine.

You're wearing him down.

JOE: Outside color.
Outside color.
DAVE M: Yeah, yeah.

JOE: Oh, it's a jumbo,
hopefully we can get him.

DAVE M: We need this one.

Done let him get away!

JOE: Leader's on the outside.
I got swivel.

DAVE M: Yeah. Nailed him!

Get a gaff, Joe.
JOE: Yeah.

DAVE M: Right there,
right there, right there!

Hurry up! Get him!
Get him! Get him!

All right, got him?
JOE: Yeah.

DAVE M: Going for
the tail strap.

-Yeah!
JOE: Yeah.

DAVE M: That's number
two for us, Joe.
JOE: Good job.

DAVE M: We did it Yankee style
down here in the Outer Banks.
JOE: Yep.

DAVE M: All right, come here
and pull it in with me.

Under the rail and in
the pail, back to the
dock to make the sale.

What do you got?

JOE: Eighty-two.

DAVE M: We'll take it.
JOE: Nice.
DAVE M: Nice one.

JOE: I was stoked we got one.

And we're proving to these
guys that we can come
down and fish down here.

DAVE M: Yeah, we got him.

TJ: Oh, man, good
going, you lucky dog.

It's paying off for you, man.
Good going, man.

TYLER: Score one for the north!
That's awesome news, man.

DALE: Dave, he's had
some bad luck down here.

I just hope he didn't push his
bad luck off on us because it
sure feels like it.

NICK: Yeah, Dave got one.
He's doing real good.

If he catches one more, he'll
have a one-per-year average.

Freaking setting it on fire.

[laughs]

DAVE M: Not too bad for a
Yankee Tuna Fisherman, hey, Joe?

SCOTT: What's up, guys?

DAVE M: Yeah, a nice
little package for you.

SCOTT: All right, guys.
Let's get this thing up
and see what we can do.

DAVE M: What do we got, Scotty?

SCOTT: Two hundred and
twenty-eight pounds dressed.

DAVE M: Nice, we'll take it.
We'll take it.

You're not gonna hornswoggle
me now, are you?

SCOTT: Let's see what we can do.

DAVE M: So what do you got,
Scotty? What do you think?
Come on.

SCOTT: Not a bad
little fish here.
JOE: We need this.

SCOTT: It's got some fat
in the minors, you know,
the color's good on it.

DAVE M: Right, right.

SCOTT: Let's just
hope for a good core.
DAVE M: Okay.

SCOTT: Oh. It's good fish.
DAVE M: Nice, nice. Okay.

SCOTT: Yeah.
JOE: It's.

DAVE M: All right, Scotty.
What do you think?

SCOTT: We'll get you guys,

we'll get you guys $16 a pound.
DAVE M: Nice. All right.

JOE: Sweet. Nice. Good job.
DAVE M: All right. Boom!

All right. We're gonna right
back out.

JOE: All right, Scotty.
DAVE M: So hopefully we'll see
you nice and early tomorrow.

SCOTT: All right, sounds good.
See you later.
DAVE M: We'll see you later.

These southern
boys better watch out.

We're hot right now.

[laughs]

CLIFF: TJ is right there. He was
gonna be a contender this year.

I mean, he's fishing harder and
doing better than he ever has.

Every fish that the Hot
Tuna catches is one more
fish, Nick, Brandan,

and I don't catch
for our families.

With the quota getting eaten
up so fast, the next time you
blink, it's gonna be gone.

And then it's game over.

NICK: We'll get us one.

We got to catch one before TJ.

TJ: It's been kind of a
boring day for us so far.

I feel like we showed up
to the party too late and
the appetizers we brought,

they weren't too happy with, so.

Yesterday we hooked a Mako while
Frenzy and Reels landed tuna.

At least Marciano caught and
scored one for the north,
but we're not giving up,

we're gonna do whatever
it takes to get ours.

They're pushing deep. They want
no part of this.

JARRETT: Oh.
MIKE: That's a bluefin, Jarrett.
That was a bluefin.

Hold it down. Hold it down!
TJ: Oh, there he is.

MIKE: Hold it down!
JARRETT: I am.

MIKE: Just missed him.
That was him.

TJ: Oh, we just missed a big
[bleep]. Oh, my God.

MIKE: That was 100 percent here.
TJ: Yeah, I saw the hole.

MIKE: I saw him!

TJ: Like a 500-pounder
dude. He aired it out.

DAVE M: This is where the
party was though, huh?

TJ: Oh, I can't
believe we missed him.

NICK: [bleep] That's funny.
[laughs]

TJ: It's like they're
toying with us, man.

None of them are taking it.

TYLER: Come on, Duff.
Can't we get a bite?

The sun's setting.

We'll get the opportunity
to make about an hour and
a half drift.

And if we can catch one fish, we
can get in there before midnight
and be able to reset our clock

and have a clean slate
to come fishing tomorrow.

Otherwise, we're gonna be
staying out here fishing all
night and hoping for a bite.

Yesterday, Frenzy caught another
bluefin and pulled ahead of us.

We got to catch a tuna now.

Greg's a three-time
champ in the Outer Banks
and we just won up north.

If we can win this year,
we can show these guys that we
are the best anywhere we fish.

Frenzy's one up on us. That's
not where we wanna be.

GREG: Ready to get
this thing started.

Now that we're ahead of
pinhead, we're putting the
rest of the fleet on notice.

We're moving back to
the top where we belong.

Put a couple baits down and
we just work on up the line.

I'm ready to get a bite.

TYLER: These fish have
been deep all day.

We've been saying it all day, if
we can only drop baits to it.

DUFFY: Look at
that [bleep] spool.

TYLER: Dropping the secret
weapon for the first time.
Going deep.

What I'm doing is basically
deep drop fishing with an
electric reel.

I'm dropping bait and a weight
down deep near the bottom
where the fish are swimming.

The counter tells me how many
feet of line I have out.

So, we're at 2,000 feet now.
DUFFY: Two thousand!

Twenty-three hundred.

TYLER: We're going
deep for the big one.

DUFFY: Three thousand

TYLER: We can't even mark how
deep the [bleep] bait is.

DUFFY: Thirty-one.

TYLER: This is just like
long-ranged free spool trolling.

DUFFY: Fishing deeper than
anyone's ever fished before.

Thirty-eight. Oh, my God!

All day the fish
are at the bottom.

But as soon as I use the deep
drop rod, we start marking 'em
at a hundred and eighty feet

DUFFY: Oh! This rod's bouncing.
Come on!

TYLER: We're gonna go off.

We're gonna have 8,000
[bleep] feet of line out.

We're gonna go off.

GREG: We're good. Yeah.
We're marking 'em! Hurry!

TYLER: Whoa! Tunas everywhere.

GREG: Watch that rod, Jay.

TYLER: Oh, Frenzy.
We're coming for ya!

GREG: Got 'em on! Hooked up!
Whoo.

DUFFY: Oh, my God.

TYLER: We're gonna go off.

We're gonna have 8,000
[bleep] feet of line out.

We're gonna go off.

GREG: We're good. Yeah.
We're marking 'em! Hurry!

TYLER: Whoa! Tunas everywhere.

GREG: Watch that rod, Jay.

TYLER: Oh, Frenzy.
We're coming for ya!

GREG: Got 'em on! There he is!
Hooked up!

BILLON: Woo! Got 'em on!
Hot damn!

TYLER: We saw the mother lode.
It's got to be right. We're on!

DUFFY: Got 'em on, baby!
Woo-hoo! Oh, yeah.

TYLER: Let him
smoke himself out.

He's not on the
secret weapon, dude.

Oh, great, now we have,
we have a lot of problems.

DUFFY: We got issues.

TYLER: Dude, we
can still get in.

I don't think we'll ever
get the 8,000 feet of line in.

Okay, this is the worst-case
scenario right now, Duff.

I'm hoisting up from 8,000
feet right now while Duffy's
fighting a tuna.

We're trying to get
the deep drop rod in.

It's not the ideal
situation because if this
fish wants to cross this,

he'll cut us right off.

And this is a lot of line.

You're talking about $2,000
worth of line here, so I can't
exactly just cut it off.

DUFFY: Dumped right out
to the sea, dumped us,
we got a big tuna here.

GREG: What do you
think, Billon?
BILLON: Coming up here.

Slow down, Cap.

We'll show the
fleet how it's done.

GREG: With a one fish a day
limit, some captains might be
worried about hooking up so
late.

GREG: Not us.

The Frenzy's one of the
fastest boats in the fleet.

We've got plenty of time to
land this fish and get back
to the dock before midnight.

Oh, yeah.

That's what I like to see. He's
got that rod bent down.

You can tell he's
got the weight.

DIRTY: You see that rod good
and bent, it's staying bent.

He's taking that drag.

For that fish to hold
that bend down like that.

Oh, yeah, that's some weight.

TYLER: We only have a little
bit of time to land this fish.

We got to get this one in.

Still early in the night,
it's definitely a big one.

DUFFY: Woo! Smoking hot.

TYLER: When he just took a
half a spool of line, he's got
us dumped real deep into the
backing.

This is now a battle.

This is the big 500-pound tuna
on the line right here, so we
got to do everything we can to

try and get it and then get in.

Three and a half hours
steamed, 7:00 at night.

I still have to deal with 5,000
feet of line on this other rod
and we got to get it in there

before midnight.

The shot clock's ticking down
because we either got to put
this one in the boat and get in

there, or lick our wounds and
we're not gonna be fishing
tomorrow and Greg's gonna

be trying to get up on us.

BILLON: We're gonna
see him in a second.

GREG: Let's get him onboard.

BILLON: We got
color right here.

DIRTY: Uh, is that a
tuna, what is that?

GREG: Thresher.
BILLON: Shark.

GREG: Dammit.

BILLON: Thresher,
ready for release.

DIRTY: Booyah!

Well, that sucks.

Not what we're looking for.

BILLON: Cool shark,
but not our tuna.

GREG: Be nice if we
can do something with
him, but we can't.

DUFFY: Feels like a good one.

See here in a minute.
I got swivel.
TYLER: All right.

DUFFY: Right here, T.

[music]

TYLER: Get him, buddy!
Got him! Woo!

DUFFY: Yeah! Tail wrap!

TYLER: All right, Duff!
DUFFY: Yeah, brother!

TYLER: Dude, the
clock is ticking.

Let's get this thing aboard,
that'll put us ahead of Greg.

DUFFY: Oh, Frenzy,
we're coming for ya!

Woo!

That looks like a good one.

TYLER: Seventy-four and a half
DUFFY: On the button, dude.

TYLER: Perfect. It's a keeper.
DUFFY: Yeah, buddy.

TYLER: Another paycheck.
DUFFY: High five. All right.

TYLER: Nice, bro! Let's get in
there, dude!

DUFFY: Yeah, let's get him up.

TYLER: All right, let me put it
in a course. We got to get home.

We're up against the clock.

Forty-one miles to go and we're
freaking out of here.

We're barely gonna
make it in there.

We got another
one for the north.

Pinwheel, baby!
GREG: Oh, [bleep] you.

DAVE M: Safe travels. Nice
going.

NICK: I don't care.
I honestly do not care.

TJ: All right, man,
good going today.

BRITTON: Really got to study it
in my head how that happened.

DALE: Things are bad.
BRITTON: Bad. This is terrible
bad.

TJ: Kind of levels
the playing field.

TYLER: Oh, Frenzy,
we're coming for ya!

SCOTT: Well, it's about 11:30.
You guys just made the cutoff.

TYLER: And it worked
out perfectly.

We get to get tomorrow in.
That's important.

SCOTT: Yeah. All right. Let's
get it up. Let's check it out.

TYLER: Oh, man.

SCOTT: We've got a hundred
seventy-eight pounds dressed.

TYLER: This is another one.
Another paycheck.

SCOTT: Give it a tail cut
and core. Let's see what's up.

TYLER: Let's check it out.

We just need a good price
per pound to get ahead and
stay ahead of Frenzy and

catch up with the rest of
the fleet.

Beautiful fish caught
by northern boys.

SCOTT: Nice little color on it.
A lot of fat.

Greasy, definitely
easy for us to move.

TYLER: Let's check
out the core, man.

Let's get down to business. Ooh.

SCOTT: Yeah. No burn on that.
TYLER: What can you give me?

SCOTT: Bottom line, this fish
will get you guys

$21 a pound.
TYLER: Woo!
DUFFY: All right.

SCOTT: Good job, guys.
TYLER: Good job, bro.

Hard work always pays off.
DUFFY: Yup. Hell yeah, man.

TYLER: Let's get
back out there.

We're coming for all
the southern boats.

We're coming for everybody.

See ya later, bye.

DALE: Don't hit my spotlight,
because that's what you do
when you're over here.

Really? Really? [laughs]

That's how it's gonna be.

WILL: Well, we're definitely
gonna get a bite now.

DALE: Yeah, that's kind
of what I'm hoping.
WILL: Yeah.

DALE: Got you in the right
spot, it's your corner now.

Things are looking good.

I've never been wrong before.

There's no way we'll
get a bite right now.

What'd I tell ya?
Not wrong again.

My streak is impeccable.

We're the only boat who's
yet to catch a bluefin.

DALE: We can't get a bite.
It is driving me insane.

There's nothing worse
than watching people catch
fish when you're not.

I don't even got a crystal ball.

We're not gonna get
a bite right now.

How's that?

WILL: That's two rights.

DALE: And two rights
don't make a wrong.
WILL: Can't be wrong.

DALE: Oh, has Ed hung
himself down there?

WILL: Yeah.
DALE: Did he?

WILL: Yeah, I didn't
cut him down yet, but
he's still hanging.

DALE: Oh, man. Oh, boy.

[laughs]

This is brutal.

BRANDAN: Everybody else is
catching fish and we ain't.

Oh, no, it ain't cool,
but stay out here,
maybe we'll get us one.

Day ain't over.

There's the Hot Tuna over there.

TJ: Any minute now, baby.
Any minute now.

JARRETT: Still feels
like a fishy day, man.

MIKE: Very. We're gonna get one
today.

TJ: The last two days have
been great for the north.

Both Marciano and
Tyler caught bluefin.

If we can land one today, the
Falcon, the Pinwheel and the Hot
Tuna will be a triple threat.

Little Shell just showed up and
he hasn't had a bite, but one
of us is gonna get a bite here
directly.

CLIFF: TJ's being a
little bit more gung-h*
and going this year.

NICK: I don't think
it'll last though.
CLIFF: Maybe it will.

NICK: What I really want
is for TJ and his Yankee
buddies to go the hell home.

I don't like the northern boats
coming down here and fishing
because the northern guys

are catching up the quota, then
it hurts my bottom line, bad.

I don't make enough
money to survive.

It's rubbing salt in my wound.

TJ: Got a mark.

NICK: There's your mark.

TJ: [bleep] giant herd.
Mother lode right there.

NICK: Twenty fathoms.
Looks good though.

BRANDAN: Come on, baby! Come on.
NICK: Come on, baby. Get lucky.

TJ: Get ready, get ready.

Luckily, I got a lot
of hair to pull out.

Because this is definitely
a hair-pulling moment.

NICK: Kind of deep, baby! Let's
end up getting a bite, baby!

JARRETT: Oh! There he's! He's on
MIKE: Oh, there he is.

[inaudible]

Get inside. We're on, baby!
I got it, Jarrett.

TJ: Got 'em on, this is 5903.

MIKE: He's dumping us.
I got the wheel.

He is dumping us, boy.

JARRETT: Holy [bleep], man. That
was a hell of an expl*si*n.

TJ: Put standby
on the autopilot.

NICK: Here they come again.
Coming across higher this time.

CLIFF: Oh, there he is.
NICK: That was a big one!

Did you see the
size of that sucker?

CLIFF: Damn, that's a big fish!

JARRETT: Holy [bleep], he hit
that thing hard. That was the
[bleep]. Woo!

TJ: He hit it so hard, even
though I jammed the boat on hard
reverse to try and stop him.

We saw the bottom of the
spool, we've never seen that.

JARRETT: Taking a
lot of line back out.

TJ: You got to keep
backing up or what?

MIKE: Yeah, he's pulling him.

TJ: Let's try and get on top
and take our time with him.

Just take your time
with him, bubbyy.

NICK: You see the
size of that one?

CLIFF: That was a
monster fish, dude!

That thing was like, ah!

NICK: Here comes your
breakaway, boys.

CLIFF: All right, grab up
there, Brandan. Go grab it.

Here. Do your stick line for me.
I'm gonna help him.

TJ: Oh. Wow, like, we're, like,
right on top of it.

He's acting real weird.

JARRETT: Yeah, it's
wrapped around it.

TJ: Michael, get a gaff. Get a
gaff, Michael, come on.

Take the tension off that, off
the, stop the bandit. Stop the
bandit. Stop the bandit!

JARRETT: We're losing it.

TJ: It's just getting
tangled with the bird line.

We're screwed!

JARRETT: We're gonna
[bleep] ourselves now.

e, we're,
like, right on top of it.

JARRETT: Yeah, it's
wrapped around it.

TJ: Stop the bandit. Stop
the bandit. Stop the bandit!
JARRETT: We're losing it.

TJ: It's just getting
tangled with the bird line.
We're screwed.

JARRETT: We're gonna
[bleep] ourselves now.

-I can't see the tag line.
-I'm gonna hold this side
of the line.

You deal with that.

You're gonna go around this way.

TJ: I can't see nothing, guys.

Is he still there?

JARRETT: Yep. [bleep] He's
there.

TJ: He's there. He's there.
He's there.

JARRETT: Come on, boy.
We need this one!

NICK: Woo! Nice bite. Had a big
bite on our stick,

fish jumped out
of the water all the way,

it comes down on the bait.

CLIFF: Oh, That thing
was in the air, dude.

That thing was, I was like, uh!

NICK: The more crazy the
bite is, the less chance you
got to holding on to them,

so I'm hoping this
one stays glued.

CLIFF: I gotcha right
behind ya. Where's the ball?

NICK: Okay. Go ahead and put her
in gear and go that way a little
bit.

He ain't acting just right.

Come around on it a little bit.

I don't know, man.

I don't think we got it.

[bleep] we don't.

[bleep] Golly, man.

Big fish. Pulled the hook.
CLIFF: We lost him.

NICK: Dammit.

TJ: You're definitely
gaining on him now, right?
JARRETT: Oh, [bleep] yeah.

MIKE: All right,
here's the breakaway.

TJ: Come on, guys. We got to get
this one.

JARRETT: Here comes
the first drop.

I can see him down there
deep. He's on the second
drop, I think.

MIKE: Get a dart ready.
He's coming up.

TJ: Don't wrap. Do not wrap.
MIKE: I know that.

I've done this before.
I got you.

TJ: Let him go, buddy! Let him
go! Let him go. Don't hold.

MIKE: I'm not, I'm
not holding it.

Here's your shot,
Jarrett, come on!

Stick him, we got him.
TJ: Got him.

MIKE: Double dart. Gaff.
TJ: Yeah.

MIKE: Where is he?
TJ: He's right here!

He's right here!
JARRETT: Right here.

Dude, that line's so
in a knot right now.
TJ: Hold up, watch out.

We got a [bleep][bleep]
here, buddy.

MIKE: Yup.
TJ: Big fish.

MIKE: He took the gaff.
TJ: Get another gaff.

MIKE: Come on,
get another gaff.

Another gaff! Another gaff!
Another gaff!

TJ: Come on, tail rope.
Tail rope.

JARRETT: All right.

TJ: Got him, baby! Woo!

JARRETT: Yeah!
TJ: Woo!

JARRETT: Woo!
MIKE: Yeah!

TJ: We get him. He's a beauty.

He's our fourth
fish of the season.

This is a great feeling.

MIKE: Nice one.
JARRETT: Yeah.

MIKE: Eighty-four. Eighty-four
TJ: Eighty-four, baby!

MIKE: Beautiful. We'll take him.

TJ: We'll take him.
JARRETT: Thanks, baby.

TJ: All right, boys, let's get
him packed away. Good job, guys.
MIKE: That's a beauty.

JARRETT: Big money
fish right there.
MIKE: Game over.

TJ: Another one for the north,
baby! Triple threat.

NICK: Dammit.
CLIFF: Dang.

That'll tie him up with us.
NICK: I swear, man.

I just can't get lucky.

TYLER: TJ just put
a fish on the deck.

DAVE M: Wow, nice going, TJ.
Nice going, nice going.

CHARLIE: Ahh.

GREG: He didn't get a
[bleep] bite, did he?
DALE: Damn.

WILL: Yeah.

[music]

TJ: The north is on
a hot streak, Pa-pow!

SCOTT: What's up, dude?

TJ: What's up, buddy?

SCOTT: Thanks, guys, for
coming in early for me. I
appreciate it.

TJ: We're neck-and-neck
with the Little Shell, man.

SCOTT: Yeah? Let's get it up.
TJ: All right.

We're only about 1,800 bucks
behind Little Shell, but we need
a good price per pound to push

us into the lead and put some
solid distance between us.

What we got, Scottso?
SCOTT: We've got 282 pounds.

TJ: So, honestly, this thing
fought like a 600-pounder.

SCOTT: Let's check it out.

Look at the color on this one.
TJ: Beautiful, baby.

SCOTT: That looks really nice.

Good amount of fat. Yeah. How
about we check out the core?

TJ: Ooh, Scotty.
SCOTT: That's nice.
TJ: Talk tuna to me.

SCOTT: Yeah, that core
is definitely clear.

TJ: So, man, what
are you thinking?

SCOTT: So we can get you guys

$18 a pound.
MIKE: Nice.

TJ: Scottso, baby!
Thank you, buddy!

SCOTT: Good job.
TJ: Awesome, man.

We got to head right back
out, dude, so see you.

SCOTT: All right, guys.
See you later.

TJ: That's redemption, baby!

It's enough to jump us into the
lead in the earnings and prove
to everyone that the Hot Tuna is
a contender.

Let's go get another
one for the north, boys.

NARRATOR: For the
first time this season, all
three northern boats catch.

And Hot Tuna's $5,000 haul
knocks local boat Little
Shell out of the top spot.

Meanwhile, Pinwheel holds its
lead over Fishin' Frenzy and
Falcon earns a much needed

paycheck, while Foolish
Pleasures comes up
empty handed once more.

PRODUCER: Okay, and go for it.
STEVE: Ready?
PRODUCER: Yep.

CHARLIE: My cameraman
fell overboard.

MAN: Your cameraman
fell overboard, Griff?

CHARLIE: That's right.

Lost one of them $5,000-camera's
gone. Gone, dude. It's in the
bottom.

GREG: His sh**ter
went overboard.

NICK: Holy [bleep].

CHARLIE: When he fell
overboard, he knocked the boat
in reverse. Oh, my God, man.

There's something going on.
NICK: What?

TYLER: Cameraman gone!

I didn't even know him, bro.

CHARLIE: We got the
fish, got the cameraman.

DALE: The cameraman fell over.
Did you hear all that?

WILL: Did he get the fish?

CHARLIE: Hey, where
are you going?

NICK: You fell over?

DAVE M: I might
come back for you.

DAVE M: With kids I'll
definitely come back for.

NICK: It's a good
thing you weren't out
here yesterday, Griff.

You might not have got him back.

[laughs]

STEVE: Don't be
embarrassed, dude.

You've never been out in
the [bleep] ocean before.

PRODUCER: Hey, thanks
for helping me back in.

CHARLIE: Yeah, sure, man.

We weren't gonna lose you. We'd
have thrown the fish back.

RUSSELL: That's what I get
for trying to get the shot.

CHARLIE: You had the shot, man.
It was a great shot.

It's just on the bottom.

[music]
