05x07 - No Pain, No Gain

Post by bunniefuu »

TJ: Pa-pow! We got him.

NARRATOR: Northern boat Hot
Tuna is having the comeback
season of their lives.

JARRETT: Woo.

MIKE: Another one baby.
JARRETT: Yeah.

NARRATOR: But the southern fleet
is determined to take them down.

BRANDAN: He's huge!
GREG: Gonna be a big fish.

BRITTON: Come on, baby!

NARRATOR: And when
two monster fish.

DUFFY: Big fish, big bite.

BILLON: Maybe the biggest
one I've ever seen.

NARRATOR: And their
giant paychecks.

JACK: Baby.
DUFFY: Woo.

TYLER: We got 'em.

NARRATOR: Blow the season up.
BRITTON: Woo.

MIKE: What the hell is that?
Look at him dragging 'em!

What is that? Look at
that bird go!

JACK: I need some help, now.
CAINE: No. No. Brandan,
I got the gaff.

NARRATOR: Who will prevail?

TYLER: Time is not on
our side right now.

CAINE: Got 'em on, baby!
JACK: Woo.

NARRATOR: And who will collapse?

GREG: I could be
done for the season.

DAVE: Now we're
taking line, Joe!

NARRATOR: This is,
TJ: [laughs] Go pelican!

BRITTON: Thank you, Jesus.

JACK: Look at that tuna!
Far and away, biggest ever.

NARRATOR: Northern boat
Hot Tuna continues its
domination in $4,000 lead

over southern
vessel Little Shell.

And former champions Fishin'
Frenzy and Reels of Fortune are
also within striking distance.

While southern boats, Foolish
Pleasures and Doghouse
run at the back of the pack.

[music]

MIKE: Jig 'em up, Jarrett.

JARRETT: I'm working on it.

Come on, baby.

TJ: Got a little sunlight left.

About 20 minutes.

Just trying to zone in
on where guys are seeing
stuff, where the mark is.

We have not gotten
the mark we wanna see.

Fingers crossed. We don't have
much time left.

All it takes is one.

TJ: It is what it is. Some days
you're the dog, some days you're
the hydrant.

We've been in the lead
for quite a few days now.

But we know that if we don't
catch a bluefin today, another
boat will

and they'll move ahead of us in
the earnings.

JARRETT: Where they at, Reba?

Huh, where they at?

TJ: We've come so far
after ending last season
at the bottom of the fleet,

we can't let up now.

You got any kind of
mark over there, Nick?

Little Shell is
right off our bow.

Falcon and Pinwheel are
out here, even Fishin'
Frenzy's out late.

So, they haven't
caught today either.

Nobody's hiding
from anyone tonight.

NICK: No, I seen 'em, you
know, five or ten minutes ago,
but I haven't seen nothing.

Sick. TJ: We had one
connection and two misses
and I'm pretty sick too.

NICK: The Hot Tuna's catching
some fish this year, but this
is his fifth year down here

and this is anytime he's ever
shown any initiative.

So, I'm not gonna
judge him on that.

I'm judging him on the other
four years he didn't do [bleep].

TJ: Oh, I know we had our shots.

What are you gonna do?

TYLER: I wanna
make a connection.

It's like match.com, bro.

I wanna make a
connection with the tuna.
DUFFY: Hell yeah, dude.

TYLER: Like a
hundred-inch bluefin.

We don't even know what
that's like anymore.
DUFFY: We need like four of 'em.

TYLER: The quota of 39
metric tons of bluefin
tuna is dwindling fast.

Time is our enemy right now.

Ay, ay, ay.

This might not happen.

There's four boats ahead of us
and I'm just not sure if we're
gonna be able to make up for
lost time.

At least a northern boat's
leading the fleet right now,
even if it is the Hot Tuna.

I'd rather it be us on the
Pinwheel, but hopefully, we
can stay out here tonight,

get a fish, and catch up.

Running out of time, Duff-Duff.

We're running out of time.

GREG: There is the Pinwheel.

BILLON: See if Duff wants
to come over for dinner.

GREG: There a northern boat
leading the fleet, the Hot Tuna.

We're almost five grand behind.

That could be one fish, but
if we don't catch, we're
gonna fall further behind.

BILLON: Oh, let's get a big
bite right now, come on.

GREG: We need a southern
boat to get back on top.

It needs to be the
Fishing Frenzy.

BILLON: We're gonna stick
it out till we get him.

GREG: That must be
Merch there again.

DAVE: The moon's good,
everything's good.

We should [bleep] be snapping.

We've only caught three keeper
bluefin tuna, but that's a
lot better than catching zero,

which I've done the last
two seasons down here.

I'm just happy my kids are
fine, the boat's running great
now, and it's a nice night.

Do this till dark and
we'll make a couple drifts
and make a decision.

ANGELICA: Okay.

JARRETT: Come on, baby.

TJ: That's a mark of 'em
that might bite, man.

JARRETT: Markin'.
TJ: Jig it, Bubby.

MIKE: They're jigging perfect.
TJ: I dropped it low gear. You
need to jig a little bit.

MIKE: [bleep]. Things are
bouncing perfect.

NICK: Here they are.

CLIFF: There's
the mark, Brandan.
BRANDAN: Come on, fish.

Come on, baby. Come on, man.

MIKE: What's his name on
GREG: We got some marks here,
guys.

JASON: Come on, baby!

TJ: We're marking the
[bleep] out of 'em.

I would jig it. I'm the one
marking. You guys should jig it.

JARRETT: Oh, there he is!
MIKE: There he is!

There's two of 'em.
JARRETT: Two of 'em.

TJ: Got 'em on, Nick.
NICK: TJ just got bit.

I don't think the Hot Tuna's
gonna keep this lead very long.

I'm gonna take it from 'em
come hell or high water.

Oh, boy. This blows nuts.

TJ: You still there?
MIKE: I don't know.

I don't know. Feels like they're
gone.

TJ: They're gone?
MIKE: Yup.

TJ: Bubby, let me see. Watch
out! Get on there for a second.

MIKE: I think he's gone.

TJ: [bleep][bleep].
Oh, maybe not.

JARRETT: He was all
over that [bleep] thing.

MIKE: There was two of 'em,
Jarrett. There was two of them.

TJ: They're still there. They're
still there.

JARRETT: I bet they
are still there.

TJ: [bleep] start
the damn thing.

GREG: Oh, boy. We suck.

MIKE: Got a bluefin on.

Thought they were gone,
thought they wrecked the rig.

There was two big
explosions, two fish hit it.

There's a lot of weight here. I
think there's two.

JARRETT: Last ditch
effort right here.

Hopefully they're legal.
TJ: Come on, baby!

JARRETT: All we need is

Seventy-three inches
TJ: Come on.

TYLER: Got to check the lines.

How are the baits doing?

Dude, I think I just
felt the tuna hit it.

DUFFY: Bounce off of it?
TYLER: Yeah.

DUFFY: Really, he's
right on it like that?

Oh, they're all over it.

TYLER: Oh. Got 'em on!
DUFFY: All right.

TYLER: This [bleep] too easy. I
could catch ten of them tonight.

DUFFY: Reel. Reel. Reel. Reel.
Reel.

TYLER: I could catch 10 of
them tonight if you want.

DUFFY: Yeah, here we go, bro.

TYLER: Ow.

It's him, bro. It's him.
Headshakes, woo! Banger.

JARRETT: Come on, baby! This is
what we want. We want a big one.

TJ: We've got him close and
he seems to be getting tired.

Just wanna take
our time with him.

JARRETT: Yeah, he's legal.

TJ: Careful, let's
not lose him here.

MIKE: There he is. There he is.
TJ: Here he comes.

JARRETT: Watch it. Get ready.
Get the dart ready. He's coming.

MIKE: No, no. He's gonna come
over on this side, TJ.

JARRETT: Right here, he's right
here, he's right below us.

Right there.

TJ: Got him! Get a gaff.

[laughs] On my left.

JARRETT: Woo! It's a big one.
TJ: Get the tail rope.

JARRETT: My right.
TJ: Got 'em. Got 'em.

JARRETT: Yeah!
TJ: Woo.
JARRETT: Woo.

TJ: Pelicans are flying home
again baby. Woo. Woo.

JARRETT: Woo-hoo-hoo.

Nice work, boys. Nice work!
TJ: Woo.

JARRETT: We waited until
the last second for
that one and we got it.

TJ: Woo. The pelicans are
flying west, baby.

GREG: Hot Tuna just
landed another fish. Dammit!

Oh, I really wish we had
caught a big, we had a big bite
today and caught a bluefin.

BILLON: We're gonna wrap
it up, call it a night.

No bluefins today.

Hopefully we can get
what we want tomorrow.

JASON: You're either the
windshield or you're the bug.

MIKE: Nice fish.
JARRETT: Woo. Yeah.

MIKE: Look at the color on that.
TJ: Pretty, he is.

JARRETT: That's
a beautiful fish.
TJ: Woo.

The pelicans are
going west, baby.

JARRETT: Woo.
TJ: Go pelicans.

We're gonna stay at the top of
the fleet with this bluefin.

I couldn't be any happier.

Not only am I getting paychecks
for my crew, but we're proving
to everyone that we're kickass
fishermen.

All right. Let's see what we
got.

JARRETT: Ninety-two
on the button.

TJ: Woo.
MIKE: Woo.

TJ: Not bad for a dumb pelican.

JARRETT: Yeah, we
thought it was a short.
TJ: We did. All right.

I'm gonna see if I can get
us back before midnight, man.

I'm gonna try my best, but
I can't promise you guys.
JARRETT: All right.

MIKE: We're in a rush against
time now. We got to get in.

If we don't get in by midnight,
we cannot fish tomorrow.

We are on fire.

TYLER: Come on, Duff-Duff. We
really need this one, bro.

DUFFY: Woo.

TYLER: Time is not on
our side right now.

If we don't get this fish in
before midnight, it's gonna take
us out of the game for tomorrow.

We got to get this fish quick.

Such a painful season, we're in
such a slump. We need this fish,
bad.

Dammit! Come off? That one too?
DUFFY: Pulled the hook.

TYLER: Dammit, man.

DUFFY: I just crimped that one.

TYLER: It's like tackle
failures, broken lines.

We can't win.

TJ: We are within a minute or
two of making this landing.

That's how close this is.
There's no doubt about it.

What's up, Scotso?
SCOTSO: What's going on?

TJ: We're on a roll, baby.
SCOTSO: Let's get it up.

Check it out.
TJ: All right, buddy.

When we bring a fish to the
buyer, he's looking for high
fat content, high oil, color,

texture, and
ultimately a good core.

What are we looking at, Scotso?

SCOTSO: We have

TJ: That's a beauty, baby.
MIKE: Nice core.

TJ: Getting this fish
in before the midnight
deadline is huge for us.

I just hope the quality is
there to get us the price we
need to stay at the top of the
leaderboard.

SCOTSO: You guys
got a nice fish.

TJ: That's a beauty, Scotso.

SCOTSO: Yeah, a ton of fat in
the minors. Really greasy too.

Good color on it, great shape.
Let's check out the core.

TJ: Ooh, Scotso I likey.

SCOTSO: Yeah, it's good.

You guys definitely
found the right one.

TJ: That's our best
fish of the season, man.

What are you thinking?

SCOTSO: Well, get you guys

$21 a pound.
TJ: Pa-pow, Scotty! Nice!

MIKE: We'll take it, Scotty.
Thank you.

TJ: We needed that, baby.
JARRETT: Thank you very much
TJ: We're stoked.

Almost seven grand for this
fish and we could fish tomorrow
and hopefully get another one.

TJ: Scotty, we're gonna
head right back out.

Hopefully, we'll see
again tomorrow, bud.

SCOTSO: All right. Sounds good.
TJ: Thanks, Scotty.

SCOTSO: All right, guys.
Have a good night.

TJ: It feels really great to
represent the north down here
in the Outer Banks

and prove the Hot Tuna is a
force to be reckoned with.

Thank God we can
fish in the morning.

Let's go get another one.

NICK: Guess what? Now we wait
some more.

Bud, we've been
waiting long enough.

BRANDAN: You'll never
get but just a few hours out
here with being not so rough.

And now the wind's picked up.

Anyway, in for a rough
night, it looks like.

NICK: Hot Tuna
caught another one.

We were only $4,200 behind
them, but it's gonna be
a lot more than that now.

We got to utilize every second
on the water, so I'm not going
in until we catch a fish.

NICK: Here they are.

Hundred fifty feet.

CLIFF: Where are we at? About
how deep are them two rods?

NICK: From 25 right down to 30.
That's probably right in the
meat.

CLIFF: Hold up.

NICK: Get that rig in.

Screamer!

BRANDAN: We got us a screamer.

CLIFF: All right, man.

We definitely got a paycheck
on the end of the line.

We need it. We all need it.

NICK: Got to get
lucky here now, boys.

CLIFF: This is our
fun ticket home.

NICK: It's definitely a tuna.
Ain't no doubt about it.

It had that mark and the
way it run off there.

We got our chance here now.
We're a long way from getting
him. A long way.

BRANDAN: The night bite.

CLIFF: We definitely got a
paycheck on the end of the line.

We need it. We all need it.

Good job, Brandan, just watch
that rod. Keep him bent over.

NICK: We've been fishing
almost 18 hours straight.

Good job, Brandan.

This is when stuff
needs to go right.

BRANDAN: Slow it down a little
bit. Here you go.

CLIFF: Hold on, boys.

Well, we finally got
one on in a night bite.

There's a lot of things
that can still go wrong.

The weather's getting worse,
the waves are getting big.

Hopefully, we can pull
together and land this thing.

NICK: All right, Brandan.
BRANDAN: Yup.

NICK: Take your turn. Just keep
coming.

This is it. If we don't catch
him, we wait for the morning.

So, this is our one shot here.

Hopefully, we can
capitalize on it.

Ooh.

All right, Brandan. Let me have
it.

BRANDAN: All right.

Yes, sir.

NICK: All right, that's
gonna be him right here.

Okay, he's pulling hard now.

Keep turning, Cliff.

All right, there's the fish.

Keep turning, go ahead Cliff!

Go faster! Go faster! Get your
gaff. Just get a gaff!

All right.

CLIFF: Get the
tail rope, Brandan.

NICK: All right. Got it?
CLIFF: Yes, sir.

NICK: I can't see which way
the damn.
CLIFF: He's down.

NICK: All right, left side of
me, Brandan. That's yours now,
Cliff.

CLIFF: I got it. I got it.
I got it.

NICK: Hurry, hurry,
hurry, buddy!

CLIFF: All right.

NICK: Pull her tight!

CLIFF: Yeah, boy!
NICK: Yeah, baby.
CLIFF: Brandan!

BRANDAN: Woo.
NICK: Good job, fellas!

Woo.

Woo-h*.

CLIFF: Yeah! Ugh.

It's getting crappy out here.

We got us a fish.
We're going home.

BRANDAN: The night bite!
Awesome. Got a fish.

Didn't lose it.
NICK: Hey boys!

BRANDAN: Good job, Cap.

CLIFF: That's why we put Nick
running the Little Shell.

Puts us on the meat.
[laughs]

NICK: All right, boys. Let's
pull this thing in and see what
we're working with.

CLIFF: I think he's gonna
be the biggest one yet.

NICK: One, two, three.

We got a nice fish, but it's
already past midnight, so we
have to weigh this fish in the
morning.

Maybe this bluefin will get
us ahead of the Hot Tuna
and on top of the fleet,

but you never know.

At least we're gonna
get a paycheck.

He's a good one, boys.
CLIFF: He is a good one.

NICK: Let's get
that tape measurer.

CLIFF: Oh, he just
keeps growing.

NICK: Ninety-three incher.
CLIFF: Ninety-three incher!
All right! Yeah!

CLIFF: He's pretty, man.

NICK: Yeah, he's beautiful.

I'm feeling pretty good.
Feeling pretty good.

Maybe Little Shell will make
some money, come out on top.

BRITTON: All right, man. I
know some guys are getting
ready to go fishing.

Go ahead and say this
prayer this morning.

We wanna say thank you and
Lord we ask that you watch
out for us all today.

We thank you for the fishing
that you've given us.

We thank you for the fishermen.

I'm gonna ask that you watch
after our equipment today,
watch after our mates.

Thank you for our families,
those people back on the
land that keep us going.

I pray these and all things in
the holy precious name of Jesus.

Amen.

DALE: Thank you, Shack.
Have a good one.

GREG: Thanks, Shack. Let's all
have a good day.

CHARLIE: Let's go
get us a couple.

DALE: We're happy, you know
morale is up a little bit.

Everybody's feeling a little
bit better, knowing that some
of the bills are getting paid.

It took us way too long to
catch our first bluefin, so
we're still playing catch up.

But the season is far from over.

There's plenty of the quota
to catch and we're definitely
gonna get a piece of it.

We really, really need to catch
a fish every single day that
the weather allows us to be

out here, until they
shut this thing down.

The quota is
disappearing rapidly.

When it's gone, it's
over until next year.

And I'd hate to have to live
with what's happened to us
this year for a whole year

'til we can redeem ourselves
next year.

It's a tough weight to carry.

Hopefully, we'll get her done
today, go in offload one, turn
around and come back out

and catch another one.

[music]

DENNIS: All right, gents. What
do you have for me today?

NICK: Ninety-three incher.
DENNIS: Awesome.

Let's get it off, see
what it's all about.
NICK: All right, buddy.

We caught this fish last
night, but couldn't make it
back by the midnight cut off,

which means we can't fish today.

So things could be a lot worse.

What do you got, Dennis?

DENNIS: Three hundred and
forty-six pounds dressed.
NICK: Nice.

DENNIS: Let's check it out.
NICK: All right.

DENNIS: I was expecting to
see a lot more fat in the
tail based on the shape.

It's got a tiny,
tiny bit of fat.
NICK: Yup.

DENNIS: So, hopefully the
core looks good. Very nice.
NICK: Oh, yeah beautiful.

DENNIS: The tail color's
a little bit dull, but the
core is nice and sharp.

I can get you a good price.

NICK: What's a good price?

CLIFF: We need
some money, Dennis.
NICK: Yeah.

DENNIS: Well, how
about $16 today?

NICK: All right,
yeah, we'll take it.
CLIFF: We'll take it.

NICK: Good job, guys.
CLIFF: Thank you, sir.

NICK: Sixteen dollars a pound
is nothing to cry about.

But the fact that we
can't fish today, that's
something to cry about.

We've got to wait until
tomorrow and catch every day
until the quota's caught up.

BRANDAN: Give 'em
hell, Little Shell!

MIKE: Did you ever have the
spicy chicken and egg burrito?
JARRETT: For breakfast?

MIKE: I mean, the crunchy
chicken egg burrito?
JARRETT: Yup.

MIKE: And I give you
the salsa with it?
JARRETT: Yup.

MIKE: It's delicious.
JARRETT: It is [bleep] good.

TJ: It's a beautiful day. I
mean, this is not normal
for the Outer Banks fishery.

I mean, it's absolutely
gorgeous out.

Now, we just need Mr. Charlie
to show up and cooperate.

JARRETT: Any second now.

MIKE: That tuna burrito's good.

JARRETT: Yes, eat like a chicken
sandwich or something like that.

TJ: Oh, we're marking 'em, boys.

MIKE: Whoa! See the hole right
there, Jarrett?
JARRETT: Yup.

MIKE: Just came straight in.
TJ: What was it?

MIKE: Right next to
the over there.

TJ: What was it?
MIKE: A bluefin.

TJ: We marked one too.

MIKE: Came [bleep]
clear out of the water.

JARRETT: Definitely a tuna.
There's a big slick next to it
too.

TJ: It feels fantastic to still
be at the top of the fleet.

If we can land another bluefin
today, it'll make an already
great season that much better.

I'd love to take another piece
of the quota for the Hot Tuna.

MIKE: That was a real one.
I saw him in the air.

And I was like, "Whoa." I saw
a bluefin jump, probably like
hundred feet next to the stick.

There's a slick over there, he
came clear out of the water,
probably three, four feet.

Big expl*si*n. I guess he was
chasing bait or something.

Looked like a slick over there.
Maybe we'll get a dumb one to
hold on here.

Whoa, whoa. I got him, baby!
Come on, come on! Come here.

Just missed him.
TJ: Jig it. Jig it. Jig it!

MIKE: Just missed
him on the white one.
TJ: Was it him?

MIKE: Absolutely.

TJ: He'll come back.

JARRETT: Come on,
baby, come on back.

TJ: Let him come
up a little more.

Don't look good to me, but.

JARRETT: He's on! Yeah!

MIKE: [bleep]! Woo.

JARRETT: Woo.

TJ: There he is! There he is!
We got him.

DALE: [bleep] bleep].

CHARLIE: TJ's got
one on now, Steve.

GREG: Do not like it.

TYLER: Oh, now
they're biting, bud.

MIKE: Woo.
TJ: What happened?

[inaudible]

MIKE: Oh, yeah, wow,
what the hell is that?

Look at him dragging it.
What is that? Look at that
bird go, baby!

JARRETT: Holy [bleep].
MIKE: We got two of them on.

JARRETT: Holy [bleep].

MIKE: We got a couple on.
JARRETT: He's got a couple on.

There he is!
We got him!

MIKE: Oh, oh, come on, baby woo.
[bleep]!

Oh, yeah wow.

What the hell is that? Look at
him dragging it. What is that?

Look at that bird go, baby.

JARRETT: Holy [bleep].
MIKE: We got two of them on.

We got a couple on here.

JARRETT: He's got a couple on.

MIKE: TJ, we just lost the bird.
JARRETT: Bird broke!

MIKE: Bird broke. Get the
hydraulics on.

JARRETT: The hanger just broke.
We just got slammed.

MIKE: That was a couple of them.

JARRETT: Bird just broke off. We
just got rim racked.

MIKE: Hydraulics, man. Woo.

Hydraulics!

TJ: You gotta switch the thing.

Okay. Go. Think he's still on
the bird?

JARRETT: No. The bird's up top,
bird was [bleep].

MIKE: Did you see that
bird skipping on the,
JARRETT: Holy [bleep].

MIKE: Oh, yeah, wow,
what the hell was that?

Look at him dragging it. What
is that? Look at that bird
go, baby!

TJ: He's got the
JARRETT: Holy [bleep].

MIKE: We got two of them on.
JARRETT: Holy [bleep].

MIKE: There was a
couple explosions.

I knew I saw that one air out.

TJ: You think there's
one on the bird still?

MIKE: Guess that's him
and go chase him down
and keep your eye on it.

Yow, dude, that was epic.

JARRETT: Holy [bleep]. He was
running with that thing.

MIKE: I've never a bird
move like that in my life.

JARRETT: Looks like a [bleep]
jaw is hitting that thing.

Three buoys on it.

Gonna need a bigger boat.
TJ: Now he's just pulling
the bird in, right?

MIKE: No. The bird's not moving.
TJ: Yeah, it is.

Bird's coming to you now, look.

JARRETT: Yeah, the
bird's still on there.

TJ: We broke come off.
MIKE: Watch this.

There's something there.

JARRETT: Oh, there's
still that line though.

MIKE: No. There's nothing
on there. They broke
everything off. He's gone.

TJ: [bleep] I knew it was
coming. He blew us apart.

JARRETT: [bleep]. [bleep].

TJ: He was huge, man.
Unbelievable.

MIKE: That was crazy. I've never
seen one fish drag a bird around
like that ever.

JARRETT: That
expl*si*n was huge.

TJ: What a bummer.
That was big fish.
MIKE: [bleep], yeah.

JARRETT: Big [bleep]
fish? It was a whale.

TJ: It's the greenstick, man.

That big fish can rim rack you.

He hit it, then he started
airing out, you know, tail
walking like a Marlin.

Just dragging all
the gear around and he
just broke the leader.

Nothing you could do.

That was unbelievable.

DAVE: Gel came back
from her little venture.

We're happy to have
the extra hands.

We definitely missed
her while she was gone.

Now we're back out here
with a full A-team.

Team Tuna is in the game.

Porpoises jumping for joy.
A bunch of porpoises.

After hearing Britton's prayer
this morning, it really helped
me put things in perspective.

Even though we're still pretty
low on the totem pole, we're
having our best Outer Banks

season since the first
year I was down here.

And Joe and Angelica, they're
gaining a ton of fishing
experience that'll only help

them moving forward.

Come on, Cinderella.

We're in the middle of
a bazillion porpoises.

With all these porpoises
around, the tuna have got
to be around here somewhere.

Keep jigging, Joe.

We're gonna get bit again.
They're coming up.

ANGELICA: Joe,
they're coming up.

DAVE: Big marks, Joe. Big Marks!
Jig it! Jig it! Come on.

JOE: Oh, we're on! We're on!
DAVE: Pow goes the breaker.

Is that one taking line, Joe?
JOE: Yeah. He's burning up the
line.

DAVE: Tighten the drag up.

Power us up, Gel.
ANGELICA: Okay.

DAVE: All right. Neutral for a
sec, Gel.

ANGELICA: Okay.

DAVE: Then you'll be going
right back into gear though.

JOE: Feels like a good big one.

DAVE: Okay. Ahead, both engines.
Yeah.

All right. Neutral.

All right. Ahead.
ANGELICA: Copy that.

DAVE: Turn the wheel
starboard just a little bit.

Just a little bit.
ANGELICA: Okay. Got it.

JOE: Damn. I think we might have
lost him.

DAVE: That thing is gone again?
Yeah, he's gone again.

[bleep] this place. The [bleep]
is going on?

I'm really starting to
hate this greenstick.

The three fish we've caught
this season were northern style,

fishing with bait on a rod and a
reel.

Maybe the Falcon feels
this southern way of
fishing is for the birds.

JOE: I thought I saw
something splash on it.

DAVE: Yeah, I know.

We've [bleep], we never
had this problem ever
with the Hard Merch.

All right.

Let's get 'em out, Joe.

Try it again.

All right.

Nothing for us.

[music]

JACK: Definitely got foggy
all of the sudden, didn't it?

CAINE: I can handle most things,
swells, wind, rain, snow.

I do not like the fog, Cap.
BRITTON: No, sir. Not at all.

CAINE: I'm gonna get
down here and hook us one
so we can get out of it.

BRITTON: The 39-metric-ton
bluefin tuna quota's
getting eaten up fast,

and we've only caught
two bluefin this season.

The confident expectation of us
being on top this year is very
quickly slipping away

here these past four days.

I need some confident
expectation.

I need some hope.

My crew needs paychecks, so my
plan for today is to hope that
we get a bite and hopefully

the fish stays on there, and
hopefully he's big enough,
and hope that we put him

on the deck of the boat, and
hope that he brings great money.

CAINE: I'll be totally honest
with you, my, my father's
on my mind this morning.

In the beginning
of the season, my father is
diagnosed with rectal cancer.

It was the biggest
shock of my life.

Dad is, sh**t, man. He's the
strongest man I know.

And watching him be
so strong during all
this, it, it helps me.

Up until this diagnosis, he
used to come down every day
and watch what we unload.

He loves hearing about
the fishing stories.

You know, [bleep], I grew
up on his fishing stories,
and that's a big part of us.

[music]

The fog is clearing. Maybe we'll
get us one.

JACK: Yeah. My brain fog is
clearing with this fog.

CAINE: We're due for a bite. We
can get us one here directly.

BRITTON: We're
marking one, guys.

Come on, Lord. Give me something
here.

JACK: Whoa! There he is!
CAINE: Got them on, baby!

BRITTON: Got them on, bud! Got
them on! Woo!

Come on, baby!

Stay on there.

CAINE: Got 'em on, baby!
JACK: Woo!

There he goes! There he goes!

CAINE: Feeling better than
I did three minutes ago.

JACK: Hey, he's just, the
fish is not in the boat yet
so I'm just gonna be positive,

think positive, and hope
it's, hope it's the one
we've been waiting for.

CAINE: Please. Baby, baby, baby
please.

BRITTON: Show me the money. Woo!
Come on, boys. We need this one!

CAINE: Far from celebrating.
Please stay on here, baby.

JACK: I don't think this fish
is done by any means, do you?

CAINE: Nope.

Can't be too far.

JACK: God, you scared me.

BRITTON: Getting close.
Get that dart ready.

CAINE: Come to daddy.

This fish right here is tired.

BRITTON: How about Caine?

CAINE: Caine ain't
tired no more, Shack.

Bubba's strong.

Still got the
father on the brain.

Not in the bad
way, in a good way.

JACK: Got to be able to
see her here any second.

Maybe not.

Look at that bend, son.

Goodness gracious.

CAINE: Come on. We need you so
bad.

That bend, son.

Right in the gills. Back of the
gills.

JACK: Well, I just want a good
shot where I can see the gills.

[music]

-Color.
CAINE: Come on, baby! Come on.

BRITTON: Throw it! Throw it!
Throw it!

CAINE: Get the other dart
here and throw the other dart!
Throw the other dart!

BRITTON: Are both
of them in her?

JACK: Both of them are in. I got
a gaff in the head.

I need some help now.

CAINE: Get another gaff and
then you get the tail rope.

JACK: All right. We got a good
tail rope shot here.

[inaudible] That's a nice one.

BRITTON: Thank you, Jesus. Golly
dang, in your moment of doubt.

JACK: The sun came out.
CAINE: Feeling good, bro.
Hope is.

BRITTON: Confident.
JACK: Expectation.

Doghouse, baby.

BRITTON: Doghouse might not
catch the most tuna, but when we
catch them, we make them count.

Come on.

[laughs]

Last year we ended up with the
biggest bluefin of the season.

JACK: Oh, my God! Look at that
thing.

BRITTON: Come on. Come on.
JACK: Look at that thing.

BRITTON: Maybe we'll do it
again with this monster.

CAINE: That one
there is for Bubba.

BRITTON: That's
a real one, boys!

This bluefin tuna is
for Caine's dad, Bubba.

JACK: All right. Let's get a
number here, guys. Tell me what
she is. What's it gonna be?

CAINE: You ready? You ready?
You ready?

JACK: 104 baby!
CAINE: 104, baby!
JACK: Woo!

BRITTON: God dang it.
JACK: Wow!

CAINE: I love it. That's gonna
be your biggest to date there,
brother.

JACK: Oh, my gosh. Yeah. Far and
away, biggest tuna ever.

BRITTON: Time to go to the barn.

JACK: Look at that tuna. It
don't look real.

It's like a cartoon character.

BRITTON: Micah, Eric,
what's going on?

MICAH: Hey, man. So you got a
big one on there today.

BRITTON: We need big money now.
MICAH: Let's do it.

BRITTON: After catching
this giant bluefin, I had
to call my son, Austin.

I know he'd wanna
come check it out.

We got a very small quota.

It's getting eaten up, and
this is only our third fish.

But it's a monster.

And it's just what we need
to get out of our dry spell.

CAINE: Come on, 500.

MICAH: Four ninety-seven
is your dress weight.

JACK: All right.
MICAH: Good job, guys.

BRITTON: Need to take a look.
MICAH: Let's do it.

CAINE: Let's check
what we've got.

MICAH: Doghouse, I'd say that
your dry spell has passed.

The freshness is
definitely an A plus.

We got nice color.

This isn't cloudy. It's
translucent. We can see
through it.

Every time you touch this fish,
our hands are really greasy, and
that's another indicator of fat.

This is the most fat I've
seen you guys have this year.

I mean, it's a home run.
So way to go.

BRITTON: What does
that equate to?

MICAH: Guys, I'm thinking

$24.

CAINE: Woo!
BRITTON: Twenty-four bucks, man.

This is a great sign for
the rest of the season.

If we can catch a few more
bluefin like this one,
it'll all be worth it.

It's time for the
Doghouse to shine.

Thank you man. Micah, thank you.
ERIC: Yeah, man. We'll see you
tomorrow.

MICAH: Guys, we appreciate it.
Thank you.

ERIC: Tomorrow.

CAINE: Thank you, guys.
ERIC: Yeah. See you back.

CAINE: This one is for you dad.
May it bring us all good luck

GREG: Come on, baby.
JASON: I just saw a splash.

Whatever it was, I saw it jump
and land, but it weren't big.

GREG: The bluefin quota
is filling up fast.

Every time another boat
catches a bluefin, that's
more of the quota gone.

And the Fishin' Frenzy
hasn't been in the lead
at all this season.

Time is not our
friend right now.

DAVE: I'm seeing
something here again.

It's like two or three big fat
singles, as far as I can tell.

It ain't no freaking yellowfin.

That sure looks like them.

Why the [bleep]
can't we get a bite.

JOE: We're in the area.

No bites for us yet though.

I still have faith.

TYLER: This is the mark we've
been waiting for all year.

Year after year we've been
a force to be reckoned
with down here in the OBX.

We've be challenging and
pushing for that top spot.

Marking good here, Duffy.

It's been trip after trip
of us getting one right
before the bell is rung.

It'd be nice to get one early in
the day and get in and be able
to get some time to regroup.

Get a nap. Get some sleep.

DALE: Got some marks here.

They're down there
like 220 feet .

Our first fish of the season
netted us less than three grand.

We're gonna have to do a lot
better than that to pay for this
boat and to get paychecks for my
crew.

We got a small quota this year.

We have got to
get a piece of it.

WILL: Let's get a bite here.

GREG: We're marking them!

We're in the meat.

Come on. Let's get a bite here.

DAVE: I know that's
giants I'm seeing.

That ain't [bleep] yellowfins.

TYLER: Here, tuna, tuna, tuna.

Got them on the screen.

DALE: a*s load of
them, 200 feet down.

That's them.

Mad a*s marks down there.

DAVE: There they are, Joe.
Up high.

GREG: They're right
here on the bow now.

They're everywhere.

DAVE: A sock of them.
JOE: Come on, baby!

DALE: Big, big marks.

TYLER: We're gonna go off!

Get ready!

DALE: One, two, three, four,
five, six, seven of them!

Big giant [bleep]
marks down there.

TYLER: Come on. Let's get a
bite.

DALE: Best mark
I've seen all year.

DUFFY: Calm before
the storm right now.

BILLON: Let's get a bite here.
Come on, baby.

ED: Let's show the fleet
how it's done, guys.

JASON: Got them on, boys!

BILLON: There he is! Got them
on! That's what I'm talking
about. Let's get this money.

GREG: Look at that. On!

TYLER: The Frenzy's on. Mrr. on.

DAVE: I'm gonna throw a little
tantrum and smash the bait net
and then we're gonna call it a
day I think.

ED: Dammit. Frenzy's hooked up.
I'm feeling pretty depressed
right now.

I can't talk about it.
It's not good.

BILLON: Finally got a bite.

JASON: Maybe a smaller
bluefin, but it definitely
feels bigger than a yellowfin.

There's some weight to it.

JASON: Yeah, maybe, maybe.

I do too.

GREG: It's tough
competition this year.

You got to make sure
you catch a better fish,
a more quality fish,

a more money fish to move ahead.

Unless you're doing that,
you're not doing anything.

Yeah. He's acting like a good
one now.

A lot of times they act a
whole lot bigger than you think
they are because of the tide.

Keeping that rod bent down.
Keeping the drag on him.

Wear his a*s out.

Ugh, come on, baby.

TYLER: Frenzy's been
hooked up for hours.

Starting to get into
desperation mode.

This day is about
to come to an end.

We're running out of time.

The longer you fight a bluefin,
the more likely it's a big fish.

We're already behind
Fishin' Frenzy, and if
they land a huge bluefin,

they're just gonna
increase their lead.

We've only been on top of the
fleet one time this season.

That's hard to swallow,
especially, coming off a
winning season in Gloucester.

All the fish disappeared.

This is not good, bro.
This is not good.

GREG: Just a mean fish. He just
does not wanna want come up.

The drag doesn't
mean anything to him.

He's just laying down
there in the tide.

Just a big fish.

There's not very many fish
that can take this much drag.

This is one of the
toughest fish we've hooked.

You got your hand on the reel.
You're turning the handle.

You're doing 30-pound
curls for hours and hours
and hours.

You just got to take
your time with him.

You can't force him.

You put too much on
him too quick, you're
gonna break him off.

It's gonna be a big fish.

We got five grand or more
on the line here now.

Definitely gonna be a nice fish.

TYLER: Greg is still
fighting that fish. Wow.

Oh, my God.

They're out here and
he's catching fish.

I can't believe it.

Marking them!

Come on tunas!

Fish on, baby! Fish on! Yay. Got
them on! Woo!

This [bleep] too easy.

That's what I'm talking about.
DUFFY: Oh, my God!

TYLER: It feels like a good one!
Let's get him.

Fish on, baby! Fish on!
DUFFY: Big fish, big bite.

If we get this one, we can
probably make it in by 12:00,
so we can fish tomorrow.

TYLER: It's nice to have a bite.
You know, these fish, every fish
counts.

We got to make it with
one fish at a time.

If we don't capitalize on it,
we're not gonna make anything,

and our season down here is
gonna be a flop. Come on, Duff.

Let's show the
fleet how it's done.

JASON: Man, it's
like an ex-wife.

This thing's been through
three of us and we're
still on the one of it.

GREG: We've been on
this fish for hours now.

JASON: Come on up.

GREG: Let him get tired.
BILLON: Wow. Wow.

GREG: She's swarming.
JASON: Oh, that hurts my arm.

You ready to try this thing?
BILLON: Yeah.

GREG: I feel like when we had
it up 15 fathoms, we would have
seen it flash in the lights you
know.

BILLON: That's what makes
me wonder if that a manta
ray or a big a*s tuna.

JASON: If it's a manta
ray, call Guinness.

GREG: I mean, that's impossible
drag for a damn tuna.

BILLON: I can never say
I've had this much drag on
something for this long.

GREG: I don't know. I mean, if
it's a tuna it's a damn jumbo.

BILLON: You put much
more pressure on it,
something's gonna break.

I mean, damn.

DUFFY: Swivel.

TYLER: Right now the
fish is down and dirty.

He's getting in a nice
counterclockwise pinwheel, and
this is where Duffy really

has a chance to break him.
This is where it's make or
break time.

DUFFY: We can get
him on this one.

There he is.

Deep color!

Oh!

TYLER: Need a tail rope!
DUFFY: Here, this side.
He's nice!

TYLER: Whoa. Yeah, baby! We got
him!

DUFFY: Gaff and all, he's ours.

BILLON: Ugh. That hurts.

GREG: I've never seen one
bite like this, not with that
kind of drag for this long.

BILLON: I see him, but I
cannot tell what it is.

GREG: It's a tuna. Holy crap.
He's huge.

BILLON: I'll be damned.

GREG: That's a big b*stard.

JASON: Wow, baby. Wow. Wow. Wow!

BILLON: He's the biggest
one I've ever seen.

GREG: This one here's
as big as they get.

If you get a shot, take it.

Anything.

BILLON: You got it.

DUFFY: Oh, yeah, baby.

TYLER: We landed our
fish, but I think Frenzy
is still fighting theirs.

DUFFY: Fatty, man.

TYLER: The longer they take
fighting that fish, the more
likely they are to lose it.

I got 83 inches , buddy.

DUFFY: All right!
TYLER: Woo!

We got to get this
one into the dock.

I got to put her up to speed.
Let's roll.

We'll make it back to the
dock before midnight, but
who knows if they will.

GREG: This is probably
the biggest one I've
ever seen down here.

I hope everything
holds together.

See if we can get this b*stard.

BILLON: Few more
circles, we'll have him.

GREG: That is a big, big tuna.

BILLON: God, he's got weight.
Nasty.

Here we go. Here we go. Watch
out. Watch out.

GREG: We need this one bad. Come
on. Damn. This fish is nuts.

What's he doing? I can't see. I
can't see. I can't see.

BILLON: Hold on. Hold on. He's
going deep.

JASON: I'm coming over
right here, Billon.

GREG: Don't miss him! Oh, yeah!

Get a tail gaff. Come on. Tail
gaff right here.

JASON: I got it right here.
BILLON: My side.

GREG: Careful, guys. Let's not
lose this one.

BILLON: Come on. I got him!

JASON: Okay. All right. Give me
another rope. My left side rope.

BILLON: Woo! Right here.
He's gonna rip out. Get
it around him.

Cleat it off.

JASON: Wow, baby!

We done won the tuna bowl.

BILLON: Holy [bleep].
GREG: Holy [bleep].

That was a [bleep] battle.

JASON: Stick that in
your face, Pinwheel.

GREG: He's huge.

Let's get him on board.

One, two, three.

That's a big fish.

BILLON: 108.
JASON: Wow.

GREG: Billon and Dirty
did a hell of a job.

Got his a*s on deck.

He's gonna stay right there.

Dammit. My shoulder's k*lling
me.

Who's got the Ibuprofen?

TYLER: What's up, Scottso? How
you doing, brother?

We got a really
nice fish for you.

It's the best one we've caught
down here in the Outer Banks.

SCOTSO: Sounds good.
TYLER: All right. We're sending
it up.

It's been a tough season, but I
really hope this fish signifies
the end of our dry spell.

What are we looking
at for weight?

SCOTSO: We got 266 pounds.
DUFFY: All right, dude.
TYLER: Awesome, Duff.

-Way to go, man.
DUFFY: We needed it, man.

SCOTSO: Not a bad little fish.
TYLER: Oh, yeah, man. No burn.

DUFFY: Come on, Scotty.
We've been in a slump.

We need a good price
for this one, man.

What can you do for us?

SCOTSO: I can get you guys

-$22 a pound.
DUFFY: All right.

TYLER: Awesome, brother. Good
work, dude.

DUFFY: All right, man.
TYLER: Thanks so much, Scotso.
SCOTSO: No problem.

TYLER: It's not a huge fish, but
we're just hoping it's enough
to knock Frenzy down a peg.

Our dry spell is over, so we
just got to keep on grinding.

Watch out, Frenzy! We're coming
for you.

GREG: That's a big fish. Got to
be at least a 400 pounder.

DENNIS: Whoa. That's a beast.

[laughs]

GREG: I think this
one puts us on top.

DENNIS: All right. Let's check
it out.

GREG: Yeah. You got the big
forklift?

I've caught some
big fish before.

This is definitely one
of the biggest I've
ever put on my boat.

We're praying for high
quality and big money.

All right. What do we got?

DENNIS: Six hundred and
sixty pounds dressed.

BILLON: Money, money, money.
GREG: Wow!

DENNIS: Let's check it out.

GREG: We need this fish
to be a high quality fish.

We really need to get
on top this season.

Let's see what we got here.

DENNIS: This might be the
fattest fish I've seen.

I'm like mesmerized
by the fat here.
GREG: That's awesome.

DENNIS: Well, let's see
what the core looks like.

GREG: This is what I wanna see.
Oh, yeah, baby.

DENNIS: Beautiful. Beautiful.

One of the best Carolina
winter bluefins I've ever seen
GREG: Well, what's it worth?

DENNIS: Twenty-five
dollars a pound, guys.

JASON: I'll take that every day.
Let's go get another one.

GREG: For a 600 dresser.

DENNIS: Congratulations. It's a
beautiful fish. Well done, guys.

GREG: Oh, wow.

Honestly, I'm a little stunned
we just caught a $16,000 fish.

This makes it all worth it,
even wrenching my shoulder.

This should send a message
to all those that doubted us.

The Frenzy hasn't lost it.

This fish right here sets the
bar. We're back in the game

NARRATOR: Fishin' Frenzy's
monster catch blows the
competition away,

moving them into first place
for the first time this season.

Followed by northerner Hot Tuna
and local boat Little Shell.

Southern boat Doghouse's
massive 497-pound bluefin
edges them into fifth place

But bad luck for Reels of
Fortune, Falcon, and Foolish
Pleasures has their fate

sinking to the bottom.

GREG: I can't move my arm.

I can't do anything with it.

I don't know what
the hell is going on.

It is sore as [bleep].

You know, when they ask
you about the pain scale?

This is a nine or a ten. I
can't lift it. I can't, I
can't pull it up like that.

I can't do anything with it.
BILLON: I don't know. Do you
think it's a nerve?

GREG: It's all right here.

I mean, like right on
the tip of my shoulder.

We may have caught the
biggest fish of the season.

But it kicked my a*s.

I think that monster
bluefin broke me.

I'm gonna get down here and
get some ice on this thing.

BILLON: Yeah. Do what
you got to do.

GREG: Dirty, I need some
ice for my shoulder.

I'm gonna lay down.

Uh!

I've never been in this
much pain in my life.

This is a disaster.

I could be done for the season.

[music]
