October 9, 2000,

was the day my son, Johnny,
was born.

Watching Johnny
grow and learn,

seeing the world new
and fresh through his eyes

was a wonderful experience,

but I came to understand

that to raise him
in the best possible way,

Johnny would need a new mother.

For his emotional well-being,
growing up,

I felt that he deserved
to be in a family.

At the time,
I don't really think

I--I had wishes or--or hopes

for him meeting a new mom.

I was rather content with--
with just him.

Although, I do think his
attention was a bit diverted.

like, unusual ways

they started praying to Jesus.

You couldn't justify
that many calls to men

and that many calls
to an answering service.

She had secret addresses,

a whole secret life.

You couldn't justify that.

Let's look at the facts

and the evidence
that I collected

in Cadillac's trash.

at this nightclub behind me.



At one point,
we heard the gentleman

who we were told was her pimp

speaking with
one of the gentleman.

With my private eye,
Joyce Foster,

standing three feet away,
somebody comes up to Royce

and says, "How much is she?"

And he says...

and see if she'll take it.

And the guy goes over to her,

and they talk,
and then they leave.

"Is that a prost*tute?"
Come on.

I've never heard
of this place

nor does it sound like
the kind of place I'd go to.

I don't know.
I certainly wasn't offering up

my girlfriend at the time
to other guys.

That's complete full of sh*t.

Paul is not crazy.

We're positive
he was Cadillac,

because we had seen
Cadillac before.

We had done
a prior surveillance

where she met up with Cadillac.

We knew it was Cadillac,
because we ran his tag.

So it was Cadillac.

It's the fact that

she didn't let me make
the decision

as to whether I was okay
with her doing that,

because she didn't want
to have a relationship with me

to begin with.

I've interviewed over 30,000
people in my career.

Diane was very unique.

I'm Jeffrey D'Amore.

I'm a divorce attorney.

I represented the first,
second, and fourth husbands.

Mr. Finkelman was the third
former husband.

These were
in really quick progression,

one after another
after another.

She'd find somebody
who was vulnerable,

who was usually married
or recently divorced

and be everything
they think they want.

which she tried to do

When you looked at the records,

and taking whatever she could
on the way out the door.

On the subject of whether
she was a prost*tute or not,

I don't define her
as a prost*tute.

She would ask them
to write checks out

to these acronyms that she had,

and I'm sure that
they felt more comfortable

contributing
to a health insurance plan

than they did saying,

Does she put herself

for financial gain?

Yes.

I don't think she's on
Craigslist, turning tricks.

At the end of the day,

she was receiving income
for intimacy.

The impression we got was

that Cadillac was offering her
for money.

Now, Paul thought
that Cadillac was her pimp.

But I spoke with Cadillac,

and Cadillac
was just a playboy,

that he loved the sex.

And then we're in South Florida

where swinger groups
is pretty popular.

I never saw any evidence,
personally,

that she was running
a prostitution ring.

I don't really subscribe

to the whole
"She was a madam" theory,

only because I don't think
she had any time.

She is driving kids
back and forth to school.

She is avoiding
all the husbands.

I don't think she was running
an escort service.

I define her
as a very unusual female

that took advantage of people

just to get by.

Now, Paul went overboard,

but he was guppy
compared to her.

She was a shark.

She does her best moves

on weak-hearted people.

Paul became obsessed
with whether or not

she was a prost*tute or not.

But life is complex.

You know, it's hard to say.

It was more simple
to say she's a prost*tute

than it was to face reality.

She's not just this, like,
stumbling-through.

She's exit-strategy.

And you're just part of the--

one of the, you know, pins

in her bowling game--

to the next pin.

So she's gonna do everything
by the book.

It worked before.

She's gonna do it
just like with Bob.

And yet,
she's completely demented.

Right now,
police on Singer Island

are investigating the deaths
of two people

found inside their condo.

Detectives are trying
to figure out if this case

is a m*rder-suicide

of Richard and Carmen...

Police say they found them
during a welfare check

in the condos here
at the Cote d'Azure.

My naivete, I didn't know
what a welfare check was

until I was already halfway

taking the cop up
to check on 'em,

and I think they drummed it up
pretty quickly

that it was a m*rder-suicide.

That was pretty much,

for lack of a better term,
cut and dry.

Do I think
she k*lled her parents

and made it look like
a m*rder-suicide?

Absolutely.

Not a doubt in my mind
that she did it.

I got from Terri Jay

and her reading
and her tuning into Audrey,

reading her mind

or subconscious or whatever.

that she k*lled her parents

because they were gonna cut her

Well, from
an investigative standpoint,

something that Paul
is not trained in,

you look
at the forensic evidence.

Based on what
the evidence was,

they concluded
it was a m*rder-suicide.

I'm on the board
of directors over there.

I was a security director
for a while.

There's no way to get in there

without being spotted
on the camera.

That's how we had it set up
initially.

Some people in our circle
said that Carmen was sick

and that she had cancer

and the type of people
we thought they were,

maybe they just didn't wanna
have to go through that misery

of--of what cancer does
in the long run.

We kind of left it at that,

and that was
the general consensus.

Oh, God, I'm just getting it.
Ugh.

She actually drugged
what they were drinking

till they were both passed out

and then put the g*n
in one hand

and put the g*n
in her father's hand first

and made it like
he pulled the trigger

on her mother
and then turned it on himself.

That's what happened.

But she drugged them first.

ever manipulated by Terri Jay?

No, I do not feel I was
ever manipulated by Terri Jay,

absolutely not.

The Court finds him
to be naive and gullible.

It's really fun.

It's--sometimes,
it's pretty fun to be me.

One thing
that I learned about Paul

in the middle
of the investigation

was he was receiving directive
from a psychic.

And it just--it just got
to be too much.

He started expecting us
to do things

that were slightly not legal.

Diana claimed
that she was getting

password reset requests
and that you were trying

to get into her emails.

Yeah, I wanted more evidence.

In the book, how do you say
you got to her emails?

I asked Terri Jay,
"What's her password?"

Try "mosquito."

Nope.

Spiders, ants...

Nope.
Centipede.

Nope.

How did you finally get in?

I guessed her password.

'Cause I'm intuitive.

Paul became very erratic.

We presented
video documentation

of her doing normal things,
like going to the bank.

"Oh, she's depositing
her hooker money."

She would go
to a office building.

"Oh, she's meeting a client."

You can see him
misinterpreting the evidence.

He's in a circle.

I thought it might be good
to change.

I'm the one that decided
to sever our relationship.

Was there a PI after her
or no?

He's a sleazebag.

SO at one point, he hired
a private investigator.

I happen to know who
the private investigator was.

I never respected him then.

I don't respect him now.

He kept his office
at a steak house.

And I think it's, like,
a topless steak joint.

the day of the trial,

he came up to me and he said,

"I can't believe
you got rid of that cash cow."

That was our only conversation.

for me and my wallet...



Private eyes don't solve
the case in an hour
