the pay streak that we were on.

marking where he sees signs
of pay dirt and hopefully,

dialing in the location
of the lucrative river of gold.

Strategy is to lay out
and find this pay streak,

mark it out really good
on the gps.

So when the guys show up,
they can just go to digging

and not have to go out

some salvage parts in town

So the whole goal

Well, one of the panners
that was on the drill crew,

he knew exactly what was
in each drill hole.

It was hot.

It was a really rich area

known today as the tomcut.

So the price of gold
went back up.

He bought
a little suction dredge

and went out and started suction
dredging in the ocean.

Then the price of gold
started climbing.

Well, then more people
started figuring it out.

So that's how the gold rush
started in nome.
