please give us a tour of your fire truck

we sure can come on this is the cab area

here and this is engineer George hi Mimi

hi George what is that this is our

onboard computer every fire engine has

one and on this screen it tells us where

we're going and what kind of an

emergency it is could be a medical

emergency it could be a fire where's the

siren button the siren button's right

down there by your foot oh can I press

it sure

that was loud it sure was wasn't it now

can you show me this now this is back

here's where the firefighters ride you

saw where engineer George and Captain

Greg were this is where firefighter Mike

what are these those are headsets you

remember how loud that siren was those

keep our ears protected from that loud

noise and we can talk to each other with

them

can you hear us yep this is like the

headset our director wears over and out

and what's all this stuff well this is

the engineer's panel this is where all

the water comes in and water goes out so

we can out the fires you can see our

fire hose here these are hand lines that

we can take off we hook these up to

these discharge gates and this is where

the water comes in from the fire hydrant

or from another fire engine well that's

big now you can see these gauges here

these gauges let the engineer know how

much water to pump to each one of the

different lines then up on top we have

our wagon battery what is a wagon

battery a wagon battery is used for a

large volume of water uh if you got a

real big structure that's going up and

we need to put a lot of volume of water

on we'll go to the wagon battery for

that can we see it yes you can we'll

turn it on for you

wow that was amazing yes it was how long

have you been a firefighter i've been a

firefighter with the city of Los Angeles

for 9 years nine years

can you give us some safety tips for

kids we sure can a very important safety

tip is for the kids to know how to dial

911 in case there's an emergency and

they can get help coming another

important one is don't play with fire

you want to get yourself burned you

don't want to burn your friends and a

very important safety tip is if you

catch your clothes on fire to stop drop

and roll remember those safety tips stop
