well we certainly know how much our

viewers love it when we have animal

guests on the show we love it too just

think if I wasn't working on this show I

wouldn't be visiting with all these

fascinating facts about sharks take it

away Cameron all righty then number five

in just a few short years a shark can

grow use and lose tens of thousands of

teeth number four with a possible weight

of 32,000 lbs and a length of 45 ft the

whale shark is the largest fish in the

world number three the very unusual

looking hammerhead shark has a T-shaped

head with an eye on each end this helps

it navigate through the water number two

a wobagong shark's flat shape and tassel

mouth inspired its nickname the carpet

shark and the number one most

fascinating fact about sharks is that

their senses are so acute that they can

sense fish hiding underneath the sand

and hear quiet sounds half a mile away

even though they don't have ears

thank you for coming today hey well this

is going to be fun thank you for asking

how many different kind of sharks are

there well there's over 300 different

species of sharks we have 18 different

species right at SeaWorld and these guys

are called bamboo sharks can I pet them

yeah you can the skin feels pretty soft

one way but actually real rough the

other way huh

some areas of the world they actually

use the skin as sandpaper how are sharks

born sharks sometimes lay eggs and other

species of sharks give live birth but

these guys we brought some eggs right

here and if you hold it up you can

actually see the shark inside

oh it's breathing you can see its gills

right there they're actually going to

hatch out in about 2 to 3 weeks how big

or small do they get um sharks in

general can get anywhere from about 6 in

long which is the Japanese pygmy shark

which is the smallest species of shark

that there is all the way up to a shark

called the whale shark which can get as

big as a school bus wow so I see you've

brought your penguin friend with you

today that's right what's his name this

is Pete the penguin he's a melanic

penguin hi he's so cute can I pet him

sure go ahead and pet him on his back

here he's so soft they have a lot of

feathers per square inch that helps

protect him in the water where is he

from well Melanic penguins are found in

warmer weather kind of like Southern

California weather but they're found off

of the coast of South America what does

he eat um he'll dive through the water

for fish and and sometimes squid or

shrimp does he fly nope none of the

species of penguins fly at all is he a

good swimmer he's a great swimmer that's

how he gets his fish can you put him

down and let's see him walk yeah they

kind of have a funny waddle don't they

when they walk let's see you want to

walk around yeah

buddy there we go pretty funny walk they

have very short little legs which causes

them to waddle like that there he goes

otter is this this is a river otter he's

a freshwater river otter one of the

smallest species he's from Asia what

does he eat well right now he's eating

different types of fish and out in the

wild they would go searching for

crayfish and crabs and frogs and things

like that along river banks does he like

to play he certainly does otter are very

playful and very inquisitive he actually

performs in the Sea Line and otter show

at SeaWorld what does he like to do well

one of the things that he really likes

to do is rub on towels and that also

helps keep his uh fur in really good

condition so let's see if we can get him

to rub on the towel right here he's

gonna go swimming again does he use his

whiskers yeah he does use his whiskers

they're very sensitive and he can

actually Whoops he can actually tell

where he is using his whiskers and he

can also tell if there's prey in the

area using his whiskers thank you for
