today from our ancestors countries we're

going to focus on Italy because so many

kids love pizza and pasta yes kids let's

feed our viewers with all the

fact I'm getting hungry just thinking

invited Frank Machelli from Machelli's

restaurant and he's going to show us how

to throw pizza how much fun now can we

so I brought my grandmother's famous

stuffed cabbage leaves and borched are

those traditional Russian dishes yes and

they're wonderful the cabbage leaves are

stuffed with seasoned meat and are

covered by delicious tomato sauce sounds

great what's porched it's a soup made

from beets and it's kind of purple and

you drop a lump of sour cream in it

nothing personal Janet but it doesn't

sound very good i agree i think adults

like it much better than kids do host on

the air in three two and and now we're

going to play our video of one of the

greatest baseball songs ever take me out

to the ball game you know when I think

of going out to a ball game I think of

peanuts and cr*cker jacks and hot dogs

we always have hot dogs well it's not

the healthiest food around but I guess

it's okay every now and then yeah I'm

only allowed junk food once in a while

like when I go out to the old ball game

I Our friend Billy Biggel is doing a

special segment today from his Italian

kitchen billy is going to teach us about

all the different kinds of pasta i think

he's ready okay kids i'm going to teach

you all about pasta now you might be

wondering what is pasta anyway pasta is

Italian noodles it comes in lots of

shapes and colors but it all starts out

the same with eggs and flour hey I need

an assistant

i'll help you Billy okay but I'll have

to make you small that's okay as long as

you promise to make me big again sure

thing hey this is neat here put these on

okay where do we start first we have to

make the basic pasta dough so let's pour

out a bunch of flour and make a little

mountain out of

it good now pour these two eggs I mixed

up into the middle okay

now we have to mix this up till we have

a nice big ball of dough i think this is

going to take a while maybe you should

tell Christian and Alexandra to put

another video on good

idea and cue the host you know this

video we made the one with all the kids

in the kitchen making spaghetti that's

it is smooth and thin and supple so now

we can make the noodles so now I fold it

little pasta roll into noodles

having a great time but I have to go and

Question Time Janet Bates is going to do

a demonstration with Frank Machelli on

how to throw dough how to throw dough

pizza dough you'll see thank you

Christian thank you Alex good morning

Frank how are you today fine Janet thank

you well first of all how do you make

pizza dough well we need to start with

some ingredients and we start with flour

sugar salt milk yeast and some olive oil

and then what we do is we mix all the

ingredients together flatten it just a

bit what we'll do is we'll roll it out a

little bit and then from there what

we're going to do is we we would flip

the pizza flip it and we're going to

flip it in the air like that wow and

that is flipping a pizza

and hopefully it comes out perfect

without any holes or anything like that

you want to try to flip one okay

anyway once we get done with this what

we want to do is we want to top the

pizza and what we do with that is we

start with our tomato

sauce okay we do everything in a

circular

motion then after we put the sauce on

the next thing we put on is the cheese

you want to help me do that all

right so let's grab some pepperoni and

let's put this

on you want to grab some sausage okay

and I'll put the meatballs

on let's put some onions on here and

want to grab the green peppers and we'll

put those on too and the last thing that

we do is we put some oregano on this is

an herb mhm and then when that's done

you throw this in the oven you cook it

for about 15 minutes and of course when

it's all done you hope that it will look

something like that wow did you want to

eat some all right

noodles and you've seen how to throw

pizzas can you believe there's like

another zillion things we can make out

of pasta dough look first we have our

noodles remember how we rolled out the

dough and sliced them well if you slice

them really thin you get spaghetti and

if you slice them really wide you have

barely and if you slice them medium you

get

fetuccini but what if you want something

a little more fun then we use some tools

like pasta machines and then we can make

these little corkcrew guys called Vucili

or these little twisted guys called

jelly or the shellshaped ones called

congile and you can fold them or make

them into little hats you know kids you

can make almost any shape you can think

of out of pasta boil it up put some

sauce on it and have a wonderful meal

you can do i like to keep a positive

attitude me too especially when it comes

to trying new things like making pasta

or playing a new game the kids were

feeling very positive and confident when

they had a friendly but fierce challenge
