- Jumping Jupiter! It's so good to see you.

I was almost late because I was busy

picking up around my spaceship.

I always try to put all my things where I can find them.

Do you keep your room tidy too?

I knew it.

My friends here on Earth try to keep

their things neat and tidy too.

But even then you forget sometimes.

Huh, let's see what happens when they do.

- And Dooley wanted Max to help him find his floobit,

whatever that is, in the spaceship.

We weren't done playing

- Kids, that was hours ago!

You need to pick up your toys when you're done.

It makes the yard look messy and things can get lost.

Worse, someone could even trip over something and get hurt.

- But Mom, we don't feel like cleaning up right now.

Can't we do it later?

- Max, I need your help!

What would the world be like

if no one took care of anything?

What if I didn't? Imagine what that would be like.

(Mom yawning)

- Mom, we don't have any clean clothes to wear.

- Oh, really?

Oh, that's right, I didn't do the laundry.

I didn't feel like it.

Eh, maybe I'll get around to washing some clothes later.

Then again, maybe not!

- But everything we have is dirty.

- And I'm hungry and there's no food in the house.

- Really? Oh! Well, yeah,

that'd be because I never went shopping.

Never really got around to that shopping stuff.

Eh, well, you know, maybe I'll do it tomorrow

and then again, actually, maybe not. (laughs) Okay.

- Will you be washing your hair tomorrow too?

I think at birds building a nest in it.

- Oh, what are you talking about?

Well, would you look at that, so there is.

I guess because I just didn't brush my hair this morning and

oh, or yesterday or, oo, the day before that,

I didn't brush it the day before,

that's probably when he got in there,

you know what I'm talking about?

It was probably then, more than likely.

- We'll get right on that mess Mom!

- Thanks kids, I'll be back to check on you soon.

Responsible

- And now Max, world champion long jumper,

will attempt to break her own record.

(trash dumping)

- Oh! Flying fizzle bits, are you playing a game?

It looks like fun.

- Well, we were! Mom wants us to clean up.

Except I want to go play with my friends.

- And I don't feel like cleaning up right now either.

- But I thought your parents cleaned up

and took care of you.

I thought they did everything for you.

- I wish my parents cleaned up after me.

- Hey Chris, hey Kayla.

(kids greeting)

- Our parents took care of us more

when we were little Dooley,

but now that we're getting bigger,

we need to be more responsible.

- Responsible?

Oh! Sure, responsible.

D'oh, what's responsible again?

- Responsible means doing things

to help take care of yourself and your family.

- Oh!

- Like doing chores around the house and doing our homework.

- Yeah! We should be cleaning up our mess.

- Max is right, we should help take care

of ourselves and the house with our parents help of course.

He flew right up to your dish and he picked it up.

I tried to stop the big bad bird.

dropped your dish and it broke.

I'm going to catch that big bad bird

and tell him what I think. Hmm!

- Wow. Look at all this interesting stuff.

And so much of it too.

- We were supposed to be cleaning up.

- I understand.

Sometimes it's hard to be responsible,

but imagine what it would be like if we weren't!

- Nope. Gotta go deliver the mail, if I feel like it.

- We were talking about responsibility.

Responsibility

- Hey kids, you did a great job picking up the yard.

It's nice to see you act so responsibly.

Dooley, What happened to your foot?

- Huh? Oh! I tripped and hurt it.

- Oh, it's our fault Mom.

We stopped picking up the play with the Frisbee.

- Yeah. Then Dooley tripped over one of my toys.

- That's how he hurt himself, huh Dooley?

- But after that, they picked up everything.

- Yeah, now they know where to find

the Frisbee and the rest of the toys

when they need them.

- And nobody will whip and thall, I mean trip and fall

over something that's in the wrong place.

- And nothing will get broken because it's not in the way.

- So, cleaning up not only gets rid of the mess

and helps us find things, but it keeps us safe too.

- That's right.

This is all a part of being responsible.

And there are other things you can do

that are responsible too.

- Like putting our laundry

in the hamper instead of on the floor.

- Putting trash in the trash cans

- And recycling in the recycling bin.

- Galloping galaxies,

there are lots of ways we can be responsible.

Ever since my ship landed here on earth,

I've learned lots about your planet.

Today I learned all about being responsible.

Being responsible means helping

to take care of yourself and your family.

- Like doing chores around the house and doing our homework.

if their Mom wasn't responsible

and took care of them properly.
