(chuckles) Did you guess a chimpanzee?

You were right.

Say, do chimpanzees eat bananas?

I don't know.

But today we're going to learn all about them

with Dr. Arvid.

So come on, let's go monkey around. (chuckles)

Look everybody, bananas for the chimpanzees.

- Hey, is Dr. Arvid here yet?

I want to ask him if I can feed the chimp.

- What chimp are you talking about, Chris?

- Nick told me Dr. Arvid was bringing a chimpanzee over.

He said we could feed it and play with it.

(imitates monkey)

- Don't tell me you believe him.

- Chris believes everything Nick tells him.

- I do not.

- No chimpanzee?

Not even a little one?

- Dr. Arvid says it's better to leave wild animals

in their own homes.

- Yeah, so Dr. Arvid is leading us

on a Dooley-vision adventure instead.

We'll meet lots of chimpanzees.

- We can take care of these bananas for you.

- Oh, gross.

Nick, close your mouth when you eat.

- I'm just monkeying around, Maxx.

(imitates monkey)

- [Ashley] Chris, do you always have to copy what Nick does?

- It seems like we have a little case

of monkey see, monkey do here.

- Hmm?

Ooh, ooh, ooh?

Oh yes, of course.

It's just a case of monkey see and monkey, uh, ooh?

- Accessing data banks.

Hmm, oh, here it is.

Monkey see, monkey do.

That's when you copy what someone else is doing,

and usually something naughty.

(both snickering)

- That's right, Martie.

You and Dooley must think these little chimps

have terrible manners.

- Ooh, ooh, chips.

(Nick imitates monkey)

- [Ashley] You guys, stop it.

Hey, my new outfit.

- Oops, sorry, Ashley.

I was just-

- Just doing something dumb because Nick did it.

- I'm really sorry, Ashley.

- Kids, I know monkey see, monkey do is fun,

but you need to be careful

because, well, accidents can happen.

- Sorry, Ashley.

I guess we got a little carried away.

- [Ashley] Yeah, no kidding.

I'm going home to change.

Maybe you guys should practice your manners.

- I really do have good manners, you know.

- You could get really hurt jumping off the moon.

(slide whistle blows)

- Howdy Dooley do, all?

- [All] Hey, Mrs. Z.

- Oh my, we aren't having fun, are we?

- Dr. Arvid is supposed to come by,

and teach us all about chimpanzees.

- And now Ashley might not join us.

- Chris spilled lemonade all over her

when we were playing monkey see, monkey do.

- Yeah, Ashley's probably mad.

- You started it, Nick.

I was just doing what you did.

- Nick, Chris is younger than you.

He looks up to you.

It's up to you to be a good example.

- Yeah, I guess.

- And Chris, it's important to think for yourself.

Do what's right for you, not someone else.

- I guess you're right, Mrs. Z.

- That must be why today's letter is M for manners.

Uh, I mean, why do they do that?

- Well, chimp babies learn just like human babies do,

and they watch their mom and dad,

who teach them how to do things.

- So monkey see, monkey do can be a good thing, too?

- Oh, you bet.

Would you like me to show you some chimps

on the Dooley-vision?

- [Martie] Oh, yes. (chuckles)

- As you can see, chimp babies learn from their parents

just like human babies.

Chimps love to eat termites

by catching them on twigs and sticks.

When the termites grab the twig,

she pulls it out and eats them.

After watching his mom,

a young chimp tries to catch his own lunch.

Nuts are a favorite treat,

but chimps need to know how to crack them.

A baby watches his mom,

who uses a piece of wood to break the nut.

This youngster will need to practice to get good

at cracking nuts, just like humans practice things.

- Cosmic comets, that was Dooley-rific, Dr. Arvid.

- I didn't know chimps were so much like us.

- Or are we like them?

- Either way, they're an awful lot of fun to watch.

(chuckles)

Ever since my ship landed here on earth,

I've learned lots about your planet.

Today I learned taking care is important

when you're playing monkey see, monkey do.

Ashley got upset when her friends' monkey business

got out of control.

- I'm going home to change.

Maybe you guys should practice your manners.

and showed us that mirror dancing is a safe

and fun way to copy one another.
