Once Upon a Time

mole was very excited because today was

the day he was going to the Moon

should be easy enough he said to himself

and he began to gather all the things he

needed for his trip

he found some old cardboard boxes which

someone had put out for the garbage

truck

perfect he said looking at the pile of

junk

this should work great

and he quickly started making himself a

spaceship

um what exactly are you doing said a

voice behind him it was the jackrabbit

I'm going to the Moon said mole in a

matter of fact sort of way

Jackrabbit looked at mole and then at

the spaceship and then it mole again

you silly mole he said at last you can't

make a spaceship just like that

you can't said mole

but I was really looking forward to

going to the Moon he said sadly

Jack thought that mole was about to cry

so he said very quickly well you can go

to the pretend Moon if you like

mole cheered up immediately

the pretend Moon he said

oh yes we can go to the pretend Moon

anytime we'd like if we try hard enough

said Jack

and he leapt into the cardboard box

spaceship and looked around

everything seems to be in order ready

said mole and they were off

fill those engines revving said Jack

now we're miles up in the air

mole looked out at the little hole in

the cardboard box at the trees and the

butterflies flying around in the

sunshine

are we he said scratching his head of

course said Jack can't you see if you

can't see us swishing through the air it

just means you're not pretending enough

that's all

try harder mole try harder

look out for the Stars

mole tried as hard as he could to

pretend they were both flying through

space

and after a few minutes a marvelous

thing happened mole began to see the

stars

there's one said mole looking out of the

porthole window a big one and there's

another

that's the way said Jack now you're

getting the idea

and then he said Moon straight ahead and

mole said I can see that too

down we go said Jack whoosh

whoosh repeated mole and suddenly there

they were

this is it said Jack the pretend moon

now for a little exploring are you up to

it you bet said mole

and so the two pretend astronauts

pretended to explore the pretend Moon

all afternoon

they looked for Moon monsters underneath

old farmer Jones shed they scooped up

Moon dust from the bottom of the road

they went moonwalking through Mrs

Wilkie's hay Fields under the hot summer

sky

and then by the time they got back to

the rickety little spaceship it was

really quite late in the afternoon

thank you for taking me to the pretend

moon mole said to Jack thank you so much

can we go on another pretend trip

tomorrow of course said Jack where would

you like to go

mole thought extremely hard and then

said

how about to the Bottom of the Sea

right said Jack you're on

then Jack looked at the cardboard box

rocket again and said quickly

only pretend of course

can't wait said the mole and later that

night as Elaine his burrow deep

underneath the ground mole couldn't stop

thinking of the pretend trip he was

going to take the next day and the one

he would take the day after that and the

day after that and the day after that

and soon he was fast and fast asleep

[Music]

right is everyone ready to do the crazy

crayon rhyme yeah no oh what's wrong

I want to do it on my own this time but

we always do the crazy Crown together

that's right we do but I want to do it

this time just me but you yes me me why

not but are you sure you know how to do
