will pick one lucky contestant to be santa's helper for our gala holiday

pageant all decisions are final well kids do you know who they're gonna pick this year to be santa's helper

me it was the part i was born to play and when they choose me i just might

harry was transferred to twiddley junction last month and i'm helping out for the holidays

well yes of course i did keeping up the family tradition excellent excellent as superintendent of

the indie valley railroad allow me to be the first to welcome you to shining time station thanks

now tell me have you met mr conductor yet mr conductor tiny belt real short

but uh this tall have a little present no no

i can't say i've seen anybody looking like that

i hope he liked his present

it sure is busy around here yeah isn't it wonderful oh that's why it's my favorite time of year because we all get

presents oh yeah that's part of the map i think it's my favorite time of year because when i see people hurrying

through the station i know that there's going to be someone waiting for them when they get off the

train and maybe that's why everybody's in such a rush and it's so busy around here because everybody wants to get together

on the holidays but there's nothing else for us to do we've already helped clean up the station nothing else to do huh have you guys

written to santa tell him what you want for christmas he already knows oh well it never hurts to put it in

writing yeah

i'm going to tell santa claus to get here sooner i'm going to tell him to get here today yeah me too i know let's have some music

in our town due to circumstances far beyond my control the committee to select santa's helper for the indian

valley gala holiday pageant has no place to meet this evening oh mr mayor how can i help

i thought you would never ask this show so the committee has unanimously decided to hold their meeting here

tonight oh here at shining time station are you sure you want to have the meeting here

yes i'm positive i knew it would make you happy ms jones thank you thank you for the very

bottom bottom of my heart oh yes i knew we could come

here's the speech i was supposed to give to the honored pilgrims against pie fights do you think

anyone will have noticed we'll talk later when you're old enough to vote

yes how can i help you everybody's so busy do you think when

everybody actual busy makes time go slower yeah it feels like christmas is never gonna come and how are we supposed to

address these letters to santa santa claus north pole

mr conductor i should have known it was you hello matt hello tanya thanks for giving us the

right addresses no trouble at all i've written to him before have you ever seen santa

well there was that one time i stayed up i was determined to see him but sleep is a powerful force i fought

it and fought it i even threw cold water in my face and what happened well i got soaking wet no no with santa

claus did you see him in a word i can't really remember probably not no

but he came but if you just sit round waiting christmas will seem to take forever to

arrive why don't you go outside and build a snowman the snow is already up to here

on me let's make one that looks like santa hey wait you two don't forget your hats

and mittens we don't need them oh you don't don't you that's what thomas said about his snowplow don't you

remember oh yeah would you tell us that one again very well

autumn had come to the island of sodor the fields were changing from yellow stubble

to brown earth and the tractor was hard at work as thomas puffed along

later thomas saw the tractor close by hello said the tractor i'm terrence i'm plowing i'm thomas i'm

pulling a train what ugly wheels you've got they're not ugly they're caterpillars said terrence

i can go anywhere i don't need rails i don't want to go anywhere said thomas

i like my rails thank you winter came with dark clouds full of

snow i don't like it said thomas driver a heavy fall is coming i hope it doesn't stop us huh said

thomas soft stuff nothing to it and he popped on feeling cold but confident

[Music] they finished their journey safely but by now the country was covered

[Music] you'll need your snowplow for the next journey thomas city's driver

snow is silly soft stuff it won't stop me

a snowplow was heavy and uncomfortable and made thomas cross he shook it and he banged it and when

they got back it was so damaged that the driver had to take it off you're a very naughty engine he said to

thomas next morning thomas's driver and fireman

came early and worked hard to mend the snowplow but they couldn't make it fit

[Music] thomas was pleased i shan't have to worry i shan't have to wear it

he puffed to annie and clarabel but they were rather worried i hope it's all right i hope it's all

right they whispered to each other the driver was worried too it's not bad

here he said to the firemen but it's sure to be deep in the valley

silly soft stuff puff thomas i didn't need that stupid old thing

yesterday and i shone today snow can't stop me [Music]

he rushed into a tunnel thinking how clever he was but there was trouble ahead

[Music] cinders and ashes said thomas i'm stuck

and he was back thomas back said his driver thomas tried but his wheels spun he

couldn't move the conductor went back for help while everyone else tried to dig the snow away

but as fast as they dug more snow slipped down until thomas was nearly buried oh my wheels

and coupling rods i shall have to stop here until i'm frozen what a silly engine i am and thomas

began to cry

at last a bus came to rescue the passengers and then who should come to thomas's

rescue but terrence snow never worries him

he pulled the empty coaches away then came back for thomas

thomas's wheels were clear but still spun when he tried to move

terrance tucked and slipped and slipped and took thomas clear of the snow ready for the

journey home

thank you terence your caterpillars are splendid said thomas i hope you'll be sensible now thomas

said his driver i'll try said thomas and he puffed slowly away

see with the help of terrence thomas saw that everyone has something special to offer

and that's why everyone is special but once in a while a special person doesn't know she is

special what do you mean i mean what i said and if you wait long enough you'll see what

i mean oh i almost forgot what about our letters to santa

i'll send them for you express mail

wow oh there's mitch smoot don't tell her a

secret she's sure to leak it hello ohio has the train from chubby corners

arrived yet i'm expecting a present oh all the trains are running late because of the snowstorm

oh and i've got so much to do i've got to go to twiddley junction to

pick up my christmas goose then i have to hurry back to spring popcorn then i have to come back over here for

the indian valley christmas committee meeting all right well here's your ticket to twiddley junction and

mitch here's some mistletoe for you oh thank you dear there's just never enough time

anyone to play santa's helper for the holiday pageant oh i can't imagine who it will be

glad to be here some help i'll see in a little bit what is your problem vicky she's

vicki can oh now come on you guys she must have some good qualities think

about it well no come on you two

well both her eyes are the same color oh she never threw up on me tanya

well she does have a pretty good voice great then you can sing carols together

no she never does anything you tell her to yeah and she never smiles even when you say something funny to her

all right listen you guys i told her mother that she can come here and play so i want you to be nice to her

mess i could explain this station jones as i'm going to be playing the part of

santa's helper i thought it appropriate that i get a really fat tummy so i can look the part you santa's helper h* h* h* hey

that h* h* h* we'll turn to o-o-o when you see my santa's helper's costume

my mommy made it you're gonna wear a costume that's neat batman schemer doesn't wear a costume he wears

a concept an advertising concept you want to see this thing matt on the back of my costume there's a big sign

that says santa says give your money the schemer hey hey what's the matter do you think

it should be a little more punchy you know you've had some nutty ideas in the past but this one takes the cake cake i almost forgot

thank you for reminding me miss stacy jones gamer you know being santa's helpers a

lot more than wearing a costume with an advertisement on your back it's what's

inside that counts so what's the matter with having cake inside oh i don't mean what's inside your belly i

mean what's inside here in your heart oh santa's helper has to be just like

santa claus somebody who's kind of me generous me thoughtful that's me whose name isn't

schemer all right miss smartypants who do you think should play santa's helper

he was kind enough to help me love this part of the woods in here oh it's a lovely tree thank you

have we met before oh many times you probably don't remember no i knew you when you were just a little girl

yes that's it yeah i forgot all about her you carried betsy everywhere you went

i'll tell you there's something strange about him maybe but he really believes there's a train called the northern star

you know maybe mr king scheduled a new train and didn't tell us about i'm gonna call him what if he hasn't what are we gonna do

with mr nichols i don't know maybe mr nicholas doesn't have any place to go for the holidays

no vicky you can't come with me honey look i got too much shopping to do you'll be bored hi stacy oh hi claire

i'm really grateful for this honey now you remember stacy jones don't you she runs this station hi vicki can you

excuse me sir there's no train called the northern star that stops here or

anywhere else on the indian valley railroad well i'll take my chances northern star has never been late yet

i wouldn't be too sure of that if i were you oh i'm sure

just like i'm sure that when you were a little boy you collected ships inside of bottles

well i bet you i bet you line them all up on a shelf in your

bedroom what yes i did well they were beauties of ships sure were

i wonder whatever happened to them

ah mr jb king esquire exalted head of the indian valley railroad my

favorite uh can i talk to you for a second what is it schemer

well i uh understand that you were on the committee that's going to pick santa's helper for the holiday

pageant that is correctness well then i feel it is my duty to inform you about some

flaws in my opponent's character [Music] flaws in miss jones's character

did you know that she trains rats she trains

rats why why uh

to steal cheese to steal cheese because she's so fond of cheese sandwiches yes now that's something to be considering

when you're voting on who should be santa's helper after all do you want a uh rat training

cheese thief or somebody who's honest and wholesome and good and

cute someone like me for instance

santa's health that's a very responsible position

and i'm the one to fill it miss jones yes sir i have some extremely urgent

business to take care of keep an eye on that passenger over there until i get back yes sir

[Music] people get sentimental over the darndest

things and particularly when it comes to popular music some people who are ordinarily very

mature can turn positively dewy eyed over a country western ballad there are others who become all moony

when they hear the sound of swing and fans of a latin beat have been seen basking in a romantic glow just

listening to a tango and rock and roll gets to a lot of folks in a very big way

well i think it's okay if music puts you in a sentimental mood it's a nice warm feeling and here at 13

i watch all meth net with my family because i really don't i'm by myself i don't have a brother or sister so my

so my mom's you know she helped she gives me math problems to do certain things

like um when i when i want to take a shower she jumps in the way front of the door she tells me answer

division is to me what child doesn't love having something

brought out a lot of things that i wasn't even aware of you know i get to see and and and really feel emotions if i if i

get to see you know the pain or the hurt on someone's face i got something out of it

i actually did i didn't think i would but i got something out of it never too old to learn

because i work here at the station i feel in a way that i'm part of the programs that i watch here it's a real kick for me to go home and

watch the shows that i've worked on to see my name in the credits let's say from mcniel newshour some of the other shows that i've worked

on i've watched this station since i was in high school and i feel very strongly about the things that i've

seen and learned thanks to 13. they're the reason i'm proud to be a member proud to work here

a humanoid she's an alien from another planet pretending to be one of us

these martians playing these important roles when there are perfectly good human earth beings around like uh

me for instance schemer have you lost what little sense you already

had i don't think so no the best thing you could wish for a

time to vote for santa's helper just remember who was here to help you when you needed it most

people coming and going riding the trains to the destination it's christmas time at the railway

sing songs of celebration it's christmas time at the railway station

then hurry on their way to the homes they fill with christmas

cheer on this winter holiday

snow from town to town all across the nation it's christmas time

to be a tree ornament anymore i'm grateful for that those branches were itchy

see we never should have let vicky near a tree from where i was sitting and then falling i don't think it was her fault

oh why is that because he doesn't have to play with vicky it's official i've had to close the

indian valley railroad nothing is getting through that snow

i'm sorry sir it uh looks like you're going to be stuck here oh don't worry about me now i'll be fine

yes but my friend i'll be just fine now if you'll excuse me please i've got

a lot of new names and addresses to enter to my computer here and i'd like to have it finished before the train arrives

know sometimes a present could be just a smile or a kind word somebody who's feeling

sad or a poem or maybe a picture that you've drawn but they don't cost

any money presents don't have to cost money

ah mr mayor how grand it is to see you on this fine and lovely day there's practically

a blizzard out there what is it you want schemer uh well i uh understand that you were on the committee that

picked santa's helper not you two stacy jones huh jbk and even midge

smoot want to be santa's helper right but uh you can't vote for any of them no because they all

smoke big cheap smelly cigars big cheap smelly cigars

for breakfast for breakfast yes stinko ones i find that difficult to believe well that's but that's because you're

there it looks better than before but the lights still don't work thanks to vicky well i tell you it

wasn't her fault you'll find in life that often things go flipping over and falling down

and piling up and it's not always somebody's fault what do you mean take last christmas on

the island of sodor for example what happened i was just about to tell you

all the engines were working hard thomas and toby were busy carrying people and parcels up and down the

branch line everyone was happy only the coaches

annie and clarabel were complaining it's always the same before christmas they groan

by the side of the track was a lonely little cottage with a familiar figure waving to them

it's mrs kindly whistle thomas happy christmas thomas always felt better for seeing her

christmas just wouldn't be christmas without mrs kindly

when work was over thomas went to see the other engines all their coats had been polished said

gordon just look at us your driver will have to work fast to get you as smart as us

never mind that replied thomas i have something important to say do you realize it's a whole year since

mrs kindly saved us from a nasty accident you remember when she was ill in bed and

yes of course interrupted edward you told us how she waved her red dressing gown out of her window

to warn you about a landslide ahead and you and toby gave her presents percy joined in and sir topham hatt sent

her to bournemouth to get better but said james and henry together the rest of us have never thanked her

properly exactly said thomas so now i think we should all give her a special christmas

party everyone was getting very excited the drivers felt sure that sir topham hatt

would agree as indeed he did the engines were all busy making plans

when silence fell sir topham hatt had bad news the weather's changed badly

mrs kindly is snowed up toby says he'll help to rescue her you must help too thomas there's no

party unless you do thomas hated snow but he said bravely i'll try sir we must rescue her

we must there's a good engine you and toby will manage splendidly

thomas charged the snowdrifts fiercely sometimes he swept them aside sometimes they stuck fast and the men

had to loosen them [Music]

but at the cutting near the cottage they could go no further look at that exclaimed thomas's fireman

then they heard a familiar sound [Music] that's taran said thomas he's come to

help too sure enough terence had a snowplow and was working hard to clear a path to the

railway line and safety at long last the rescue was complete

piercy took the tired workman home terence said goodbye to mrs kindly and

promised to take care of her cottage as he watched them all set off

the engines made good time no more snow had fallen but the yard was dark

thomas's hearts sank suddenly

all the lights went on what a marvelous sight awaited mrs kindly

well done said sir topham hatt i'm really proud of you all mrs kindly especially thank the smaller

engines thomas and toby are all friends she said and now percy you are my friend too

percy was very pleased three cheers for mrs kindly he called pee pee pee they all whistled
