02x06 - The Movie / Nasty Night / Dashing Through the Snow

[Music]

it had been a boring day

katie discovered that no matter how many

times you read a book

the ending is always the same orbee

discovered that if you lift three

stacked blocks up high

one just might fall on your head and

they both found out that if you spread

your legs wide apart

and roll marbles to each other most will

get there

even mom and dad were bored

dad had been painted the hallway and was

tired of keeping his arm up

mom was working on some papers and no

matter how hard she tried things didn't

go the way she wanted them to

[Music]

even supper was boring

as mom and orbee were clearing the table

mom had a great idea

to do it they would need a newspaper

they had cleaned the paint brushes off

as mum looked at the newspaper

kitty and orbee asked what the good idea

was but

mom was keeping it a secret orbee sat

down on the couch and tried to think

what good idea you would find in the

newspaper

suddenly he had a great idea wasn't a

trip into

outer space mom looked over the top of

the newspaper

she assured him that it wasn't so far

not just anybody could get on the

spaceship

and if they could it would be very

expensive this idea was a little cheaper

orbee was disappointed but he was sure

mom the idea would be great too

katie hopped in the carpet she thought

of a good idea too

and it could come from a newspaper she

wondered if they were going on a

wonderful vacation and stay in a hotel

dad coughed i think that meant maybe

right now wasn't a good time to go on a

trip

mom chuckled and smiled at katie one day

we will go on a trip

but i was thinking of something much

smaller than outer space

or a trip dad had an idea too that could

come from a newspaper

was there some kind of special event at

the museum

katie and orbee jumped up and down that

would be fantastic

if they could go to the museum

mom shook her head and put the newspaper

down she smiled at everyone and told

them she didn't feel like giving her

secret away

katie and orbee looked at each other

they didn't know what to do with that

information

then mom continued she thought it would

be terrific fun

if they all got ready and she drove them

to the surprise

they would just all have to keep

guessing until they got there

dad asked if he would need a bathing

suit mom shook her head and giggled she

asked everyone to wash up and for dad to

change out of his smelly paint clothes

dad was hoping they'd all love his paint

spattered outfit but

everybody held their noses bad side

and then hustled up the stairs and soon

the family was ready to go

although only mom knew where

[Music]

in the car mom asked if anyone liked

fairy tales

now orbee knew where they were going

were they going to a theme park where

you get to meet different fairy tale

characters

mom shook her head and told him not

tonight

tonight it was going to be relaxing and

no one had to do

anything but have fun

katie noticed it was getting dark and

she wondered if they would be too late

mom said it didn't matter if it was dark

or not katie thought

a miniature golf they had lights there

was that it

muhammad shook her head then she pointed

to a huge building with a lot of cars

parked outside

it had lights around a sign and it

looked all glittery

dad said oh good idea

but katie and i still didn't know what

the idea was

as the family got out of the car orbee

wanted to know

if it was a video arcade he had seen one

in the shopping center

mom didn't think that a video arcade was

a very good place for little children

she shook her head inside the building

there was a stall

and a lady in what looked like a glass

box

it was here that kitty and orbee found

out what the good idea was

the lady in the box leaned over and told

katie and orbee to enjoy the movie

[Music]

a movie katie and orbee had never been

to a movie before

this was very exciting

katie jumped up and hugged mom orbee did

too

he honked and tooted and he stopped

what was a movie he burbled dad

explained that

it's like a television but hundreds of

times bigger

it makes you feel like you were in the

picture as they gave the tickets to a

man in the suit

katie sniffed the most delicious smell

came to her nose

mom took her hand and led her to one of

the best things about the movies

the popcorn when everybody had a bag of

popcorn and a drink

mama asked them all to look around and

find the number one

that was where their movie was playing

orbee found it first and he tooted

which certainly surprised the man

standing in front of him orbee

apologized

mom told them the first rule about

movies you have to be

very quiet

when they went into the theater there

were rows and rows of seats

and people were sitting down and

munching on treats

mom found four seats together orbee

jumped up on his seat and pointed to the

back where everybody was coming in

mom told him the next rule about movies

you have to sit very nicely in a chair

katie asked what was behind the huge

curtain

mom said it was the movie screen it

sure was a lot bigger than the tv

soon the lights in the theater started

to dim

katie was a little afraid just his dad

put his arm around her

the screen lit up and the show began

the story was about a wonderfully funny

man doing all kinds of crazy things

orbee honked and tooted and katie

laughed

but just when the movie was getting good

it was over

katie thought it was short mom smiled at

her

the main movie hadn't started yet that

was just a peek at the movie that would

be coming soon

katie and orbee wanted to see it

[Music]

the main movie was about a princess a

dragon

and a magical pearl the two friends

loved it

as they were walking out kitty told dad

that she wanted to be a princess too

and do you know what he told her he told

her

she already was a princess to him katie

giggled

mom found the perfect thing to do on a

boring day and i'll bet when things get

boring at your house

you can think of the perfect thing too

i'm sure you can

because i happen to know that

you are very clever

[Music]

did you know mockingbirds got their name

because they mock or copy all sorts of

different sounds

people have heard mockingbirds sound

like

[Music]

someone whistling a telephone ringing

and even a dog barking

[Music]

it had been a silly day

katie learned that if you blow bubbles

in the wind some of them break on the

end of your nose

or be discovered that if you try to skip

rope too fast

your toes get all tangled up and they

both found out that even with paper

plate masks

everybody still knows who you are

that night they giggled when dad made up

the snorkel monster during tub time

in bed they loved it when dad added the

snorkel monster to the silliest story

ever

he had mom making swooshing sounds when

the snorkel monster

slid down long slimy shoots katie and

orbee wish the story would never end but

mom dragged dad out of the room telling

him that if he didn't let the children

sleep the real snorkel monster would

burn his toast in the morning

katie and orbee nestled down in their

bed and closet

orbee asked katie if there really was a

snorkel monster

she said no dad was making it up to be

fun

orbee agreed it certainly was

katie thought that maybe the snorkel

monster could make a tidal wave in the

bathtub one day

orbee and katie love to make big waves

orbee added that if the snorkel monster

had made a tidal wave today

the mom monster might have been angry

katie had to agree

soon both katie and orbee drifted off to

sleep which was good because it was

getting late

orbee was thinking about the snorkel

monster and how he could cause a huge

tidal wave that would rise up in the sky

it would rise higher than the door

higher than the roof

higher than the top of the trees it

would

go up and up and up until it stopped and

shook

with a thundering crash come down again

orbee jumped down off the closet bar he

shook himself awake

that was very scary

orbee tiptoed over and tapped katie

gently on the shoulder

katie was half asleep and looked at

orbee in confusion

orbee burbled that he wondered if the

snorkel monster

could ever make a huge tidal wave that

would climb up into the sky and then

crash down again

katie rubbed her eyes so she could see

orbee clearly

he did look a little worried katie

smiled a sleepy smile and

touched orbeez arm she told him that

there was no way he could cause such a

huge tidal wave because he didn't exist

orbee

looked at katie katie knew almost

everything

she must know this for sure he'd had a

silly dream

and now that he knew for sure nothing

like that could happen he felt better

orbee climbed back up into the closet he

was thinking of what katie said about

the fact that the

snorkel monster didn't exist and soon he

was asleep again

[Music]

now in his sleep he imagined he was

standing right in front of the snorkel

monster

climb dripped from its body

orbee told it that it wasn't real and

that was that

the scuffle monster breathed snorkel all

over him

orbee looked at his arms they were

snuggled

he looked up at the snorkel monster

again and told him that he knew he was

trying to scare him

but he was orbee and he didn't scare

easily

snorkel monster shook with rage

orbee reminded him again that he didn't

really exist

he told the snorkel monster that he

actually wasn't there

and to prove it orbee poked him on the

end of the nose

that's when a very scary thing happened

[Music]

he felt the end of the snorkel mustered

nose at his fingertip

orbee stopped he wondered if you could

feel the

end of the snorkel monster's nose if he

positively

wasn't real just as orbee was thinking

about this

hot snorkly breath fell on his shoulder

orbeez shuddered he looked up at the

drooling gargantuan monster

and believe that katie was absolutely

wrong

the snorkel monster must have thought

that orbee looked like dinner because it

began to

lower its enormous gaping mouth down

towards orbee closer and closer it came

orbee tried to run but his legs wouldn't

move he pushed with all his might but

still his legs wouldn't move

he yelled for help but it was too late

the snorkel monster

closed his mouth around him

orbee was inside the mighty jaws of the

snorkel monster

one thing was for sure it definitely was

real

lord's teeth chomped up and down

orbee danced around in the tongue to

avoid them just as he was thinking he

would never see katie or mom or dad

again

a slimy wet thing wrapped itself around

orbee's neck

and pulled him backwards it was the

tongue

orbee was going down the throat of the

horrible monster

and no one would ever know what happened

to him

[Music]

all of a sudden orbee felt a soft sort

of wet feeling on his cheek

it reminded him of one of katie's kisses

but he had no time to think about that

now he was going down and would never be

seen again

then he heard his name

oh no thought orbee katie

has been swallowed by the wretched

monster too

he looked for her when he opened up his

eyes

that's when he realized that he was

still in the closet

katie was hugging him and giving him

little kisses on his cheek to calm him

down

he also realized that there was no

snorkel monster in the room they were

alone

and alive orbee had been dreaming again

orbee hopped down from his perch and

hugged katie he told her that she had

saved him from the

more than terrible snorkel monster katie

looked around the room

there was no snorkel monster at all

katie told orbee that he was having a

dream

not a very nice one mom and dad opened

the bedroom door

they wondered what the two best friends

were doing up talking when they were

supposed to be sleeping

[Music]

orbee told them his horrible dream and

mom explained that when dreams are that

bad

when they make you feel scared they're

called nightmares

she told orbee that nightmares happen

sometimes for no reason

although they make you feel afraid it's

just your imagination

dorby looked at dad

mom explained that dad was the snorkel

monster for fun

only orbee just got that mixed up when

he fell asleep

dad hugged orbee and told him that he

would never let anything like a snorkel

monster get him in real life

or be snuggled into dad's arms he knew

it was true

if you ever have a nightmare you need to

remember

it's only a dream it isn't real

and the next time you go to sleep

remember to think happy thoughts

so that all your dreams will be sweet

just

the way they're supposed to be

[Music]

it had been a wintry day

katie discovered that if you build a

snowman too tall

someone else will have to put the hat on

orbee learned that you can make a

wonderful snow fort but it isn't safe to

put a roof on it

and they both discovered little birds

have trouble finding food in winter

and need our help

today the family is going on a sleigh

ride it was at micah's farm

mom was making apple cider and hot

chocolate in the kitchen

dad was stuffing some old blankets and

extra winter clothes into a duffel bag

katie and orbee were up in the bedroom

putting on long underwear

orbee was curious as to why they would

need to be so warm to go on a sleigh

ride

katie buttoned up her top button and

smiled at him this was a huge sleigh so

big you couldn't push it

orbee wondered how they would get down

the hill

it wasn't for hill riding katie

explained a horse had to pull it

orbee didn't understand but he tried

katie promised that he was going to love

it

when they were all dressed dad called

and said

it was time to go mom had invited

cherise and her mom

they were waiting in their car already

to follow dad up to the farm

soon they were on their way

[Music]

after a time they came to an old log

fence

dad turned into the long driveway they

were there

[Music]

as they drove up to the farmhouse katie

decided

it was the longest driveway ever

[Music]

when they came to a stop dad led orbee

honk the horn to tell micah and his mom

that they were there

they didn't actually need to honk

because micah was standing at the door

waiting for them

he ran down to the car and gave mom and

dad katie and orbee a big hug

he was so glad to see them

when both cars were parked micah's mom

came around the end of the barn

with a horse it was beautiful

it was the first time orbee had ever

seen a horse close up

he thought maybe the horse was breathing

fire like a dragon when he saw smoke

coming out of his nose

mike chuckled he liked orbeez he

explained that it wasn't smoke or fire

it's the horse's hot steaming breath

hitting the cold air

[Applause]

micah asked all his friends if they

would like to pat the horse

the horse's name was spirit orbee went

first

and then katie his nose was soft

micah gave charisse an apple and she

held it out to spirit

who was very gentle

micah's mom came back and said she

needed to hook up spirits so the sleigh

ride could begin

she took spirit around the back of the

farm and dad went to give her a hand

everyone else unloaded the cars

soon micah's mom brought the horse and

sleigh around the barn

dad stood up in the sleigh and waved at

everybody to come on up

the horse stopped in front of katie

orbee and cherise

dad and mum helped everybody up onto the

sled

when katie and her friends were on they

noticed that it was covered in straw

the straw made it soft and warm

mom bundled everybody up in blankets

cherise smiled at katie and orvie

this was going to be fun

when everybody was on the sleigh micah's

mom made a clicking sound

and spirit started to pull forward

the sleigh made no noise it slid

silently over the snow

the only noise anyone could hear was the

soft

jingling bells around spirit's neck

it wasn't long before they were deep in

the forest

and micah told everybody to watch

carefully because there were lots of

deer in his forest

orbee was the first to see a deer it

turned and looked at him

it stood still for a moment and then

with a sudden

jump it was off through the woods

this was certainly good entertainment

micah's forest was terrific

dad asked everybody to look up when they

did they saw

beautiful snow-filled trees hanging over

the top of them

mom thought it looked like a fairyland

later mom was handing out hot drinks

when orbee pointed to the tracks left in

the snow by the sleigh

two little white bunnies were hopping

along in the tracks behind them

charisse had never seen a real bunny in

the wild

she asked micah if the bunnies belonged

to him and micah smiled at cherise

he said that the bunnies live in his

forest but that they belong to nature

deep in the forest on an old oak tree

there was a bright red ribbon

micah's mom stopped the sleigh

everybody got off and jumped and played

in the snow

katie decided that they should decorate

the forest for the animals

so the friends made snow angels

then orbee flipped into the snow and

sank right up to his waist

it was very deep next they had a game of

stepping in the giant steps bad and

charisse with a giant

when the game was finished micah took a

bag off the sleigh and

asked his friends to come and help micah

explained that when they got to the red

ribbon

they always left treats for the wild

animals in his forest

all the animals knew where to look

well i don't have to tell you that

everybody thought this was

an excellent idea and they set right to

work

micah hung a peanut butter ball on a

tree

orbee sprinkled seeds around the bottom

of another tree

and charisse ripped up bread and threw

it over the side of the sleigh

[Music]

katie left carrots and some vegetables

in the snow

charisse's mother helped micah's mom

fill the bird feeder

they were just in time it was completely

empty

on the way back everybody sang songs

and i wonder if you can guess which one

they sang the most

it was jingle bells because they

were dashing through the snow on a one

horse open sleigh

everyone came back from the sleigh ride

with bright rosy cheeks and red noses

[Music]

orbee katie and cherise thought it was

about the best fun they'd ever had

and i'm sure that if you ever get a

chance to go sleigh riding in the snow

you'll think so too

[Music]

did you know a raisin was once a grape

and a pickle used to be a cucumber

before a prune was a prune it was a plum

they all have wrinkles if you stay in

the bathtub too long

you can get wrinkled too
