03x05 - The Attic / The Zoo / Katie Up a Tree

[bunniefuu]

[Music]

it had been a difficult day

katie discovered that kissing mom for

the last time in three days made her

feel like crying

orbee found out that nothing felt as

warm as dad's hug

and they both learned that even holding

a teddy bear didn't really help when

you're saying goodbye

[Music]

mom and dad were going on a holiday it

made mom and dad happy but i have to

tell you that

it made orbee and katie sad

[Music]

they were staying at grandma and

grandpa's and although it was fun to see

them

it was hard to let go of mom and dad

katie and orbee hurried up to the

bedroom

katie sat in the bed it wasn't as

soft and cozy as her own orbeez looked

at the closet

it smelled of mothballs he really wanted

to go home

orbee thought of all the fun things that

happened at home

here at grandpa's and grandmas there

weren't very many neat things for kids

to do

katie sat in the bed playing with her

running shoe

[Music]

there wasn't even a park nearby

just then there was a knock on the door

grandma came in with all kinds of

cookies

she told them she'd been so excited

about them coming to stay that she'd

been baking for weeks

katie smiled and so did orbee but

grandma noticed that katie and orbee

weren't excited at all she sat down on

the bed and looked at her guests

she told them that she knew how very

hard it was to be away from parents

she had a hard time too when she was a

little girl

the two friends looked at each other

they almost couldn't imagine grandma as

a little girl

grandma was sure they were going to have

fun katie nodded and orbee burbled but

neither of them were completely

convinced she reminded them

that once another little girl used to

live here and that she had some pretty

neat things to do

maybe katie and orbee would like to try

some of those things too

orbee wondered who the little girl was

but katie knew it was mom

katie asked what mom did when she was

little grandma smiled

she told them that most of the things

mom did happened upstairs

katie and orbee looked at each other

they didn't even know there was an

upstairs

grandma took them by the hand and led

them to a door

now that door had always been there but

both of the friends thought it was a

closet

when grandma opened the door they knew

that they were wrong

inside was a long steep staircase

it was an attic katie wasn't sure if it

was for kids but grandma told them to

hold on to the rail and go up

very slowly so one after the other they

did

at the top they saw a room with a

slanted ceiling and a window at each

side

when orbee looked out of the window he

saw that it was high up

in the room there was some old furniture

and a baby's crib

grandma told katie that was the crib

that both mom and katie herself had

slept in

grandpa had built it she hoped that one

day katie's baby would sleep in it too

[Music]

orbee found a box that had a big old

padlock on it

grandma turned a key and the lock fell

off

she asked orbee to be careful opening

the chest up orbee was very careful

[Music]

inside was an old electric train

some tim soldiers and a bugle orbee

wondered if they were allowed to play

with them

and grandma smiled nothing would make

grandpa happier than to hear that old

train being used

just then grandpa poked his head in as

he came up the stairs did somebody say

they wanted to look at the train he

asked

orbee ran over to help him up grandpa

and orbee set right to work the track

was very tricky to put together

orbee helped plan the curves and hills

it would have

orbee was glad that grandpa sat right on

the floor where orbee could hug him

if he needed to katie found a box of

photo albums

in one of the books she thought the

pictures were of her but

they were actually a mom katie didn't

know that mom looked so much like her

when she was a little girl

grandma said that she imagined katie

would look a lot like mom when she

became a grown-up

next grandma pointed out an old box with

a lid on it

she told katie to peek inside

katie lifted the lid and found a doll

inside

katie wasn't one for dolls but the doll

was so pretty that

she picked it up out of the box grandma

told her that

it had belonged to mom that mom sat it

up on her dresser until she thought she

was too old for dolls

it had been waiting in a box for another

little girl to lift the lid

katie smiled now it would look

very beautiful on her dresser

katie noticed a big thing in the corner

that was all covered up with sheets

she wondered if it was an elephant the

attic doesn't have any elephants grandma

told her she pulled the sheet off and

sparkling things appeared it was a rack

full of

all kinds of costumes there was a

wizard's costume

a sparkling princess's dress a sailor

costume

and a mermaid's costume

the one that katie liked best was a

pirate's costume

she tried on the eye patch and grandpa

told her she looked quite fierce which

was good if you were going to be a

pirate

next katie found a spinning top that you

had to pump up and down

it spun all the way around the room and

bumped into the train track

the train track was ready to go so

grandpa and orbee hooked up the engine

it tooted around the track and everybody

laughed to see it go into tunnels and

come out again

[Music]

katie left too then she noticed

something else under a blanket

grandma moved a blanket off and there

was

a rocking horse

[Music]

katie and orbee could hardly believe

their eyes

they took turns rocking in the attic

when it was supper time the two friends

were surprised the whole day had gone by

they were having so much fun they hadn't

even noticed

they spent the rest of their holiday

discovering wonderful things in the

attic

and enjoying grandma's cookies

[Music]

when mom and dad came back to get them

they didn't want to leave

the next time they would be happy to

come and stay with grandma and grandpa

they had discovered that although

sometimes things are different

it doesn't mean they aren't fun and you

should remember that

if you ever go to stay over at friends

or relatives without your mom and dad

[Music]

did you know all over the world

people live in different kinds of homes

some people

live in huts and houses others live in

tents

teepees or igloos

and some folks live in a beach house a

mud house

and even a tree house

[Music]

[Music]

it had been a day of adventure

kitty learned that if you want juice

from a juice machine you have to wait

until you hear a loud clunk to pull it

out

or be discovered that if you want to buy

peanuts you'd better have your hands

ready or most of them will land on the

floor

and they both learned that when you go

to pay for treats

and you're not as tall as a grown-up

sometimes a cashier doesn't notice you

katie and orbee were hardly able to wait

for mom and dad to buy the tickets

today they were visiting the zoo

the first thing katie and orbee saw was

a huge swimming pool

in it with some seals

[Music]

dad said the water was pretty cold seals

like it that way

a man in big boots went into the pool

area he had a bucket of fish

seals love fish and that's what the

zookeeper feeds them

the man pulled some out of the bucket

and threw them in the water

much to or be surprised a seal jumped

right out of the water into the air and

caught one

[Music]

or be clapped when the seal got up on

the land he clapped too

seals like to clamp dad said

then the man blew a whistle and one seal

jumped out of the water and flipped in

the air

orbee he did it too so that the seal

would know that he was good at flipping

next they went to the house of snakes

everybody thought they looked beautiful

everybody but mom she thought she would

wait outside

snakes made her feel a little bit creepy

dad pointed out that snakes come in all

different sizes

orbee liked the boa constrictor best but

katie liked the ordinary goddess snake

because it had so many pretty colors

soon they were all walking along a path

orbee noticed something jumping from

tree to tree it was a very

very big monkey dad pointed out that it

was the only tailless monkey

and it's called an orangutan

there was a baby and a mother was

holding it in her arms just like human

mothers would do

and dad came along and sat in the branch

with them

he looked at katie and katie looked back

he scratched his head so did katie

he scratched his belly so did katie

that he made a funny noise with his lips

and katie tried to imitate it

the orangutan clapped his hands like the

seal and jumped down

katie's laughed it was fun to play with

him

orbee looked around the corner and

suddenly he saw a huge hairy beast

coming towards him

he was a little afraid and verbal for

dad

dad told orbee he was safe this was a

buffalo

and there was a large trench between

orbee and the animal

that explained how years ago there used

to be thousands of buffalo

and now there are not so many left so

they are a treasure

katie was very glad to know how special

it was

katie looked behind her and saw

something that looked like a giant

chicken with a long neck

mom told her that it was an ostrich

orbee thought it looked great mom told

them that in some places people ride

them like horses

[Music]

next they found a big gray animal with a

wide flat

nose orbee thought it was a baby

elephant that had lost its trunk but mom

told him

it was a hippopotamus

the hippopotamus wandered down into a

little pond

and just kept walking katie was worried

that it couldn't swim

but dad told her that one of its

favorite places was under the water

soon all they could see of him was his

eyes and nose

katie said that it was just the way a

bullfrog like to be in the water

mom and dad digger because katie was

right

well you noticed something peeking at

him from up over the top of a tree

it was yellow with brown spots and orbee

just knew it was a giraffe

one giraffe was standing very close to

katie and orbee they were shorter than

his legs

dad said that he would like to have a

giraffe at home to change light bulbs

katie and orbee pointed out that he

wouldn't even fit in the house and

giraffes like to eat leaves not

spaghetti

everybody agreed that he would be better

off where he was

soon they came to the petting zoo mom

explained that this meant that katie and

orbee could touch the animals

as long as they were gentle the two

friends saw all kinds of animals

katie hurried over to a little lamb

katie thought the lamb would have soft

fur

it was coarse and curly the rabbit

nearby was soft for sure

orbee wiggled his nose just like the

rabbit

a beautiful bird walked by and dad told

them it was a peacock

the peacock looked at orbee and spread

open its beautiful tail feathers

dad thought the peacock liked orbeez

colors and wanted to show him his

a raccoon who was nibbling on a little

piece of food looked at katie and

then ran away mom thought maybe

the raccoon didn't want to share

in the next area they found some deer

there were a lot of deer

dad showed katie and orbee the grain

machine

just like the peanut machine you had to

put your bag under the spout to get feed

to give to the deer

when katie and orbee walked out into the

small herd of deer

nobody noticed them i mean the deer

didn't notice them of course mom and dad

were right behind

well katie opened up her bag and made

the smallest crackling noise

several of the deer lifted up their

heads and turned towards katie

they knew what she had in the bag she

tried to give a few grains to the deer

but

in a minute she found out that it was

help yourself as far as the deer were

concerned and

katie just held the bag and giggled

soon all you could see with deer and no

katie so dad moved in to make sure she

was okay

katie was talking to them about table

manners and waiting their turn

just then orbee opened his bag as soon

as they heard orbeez bag they were off

on over to orbeez

katie was feeling a little crowded so

she was quite happy that now it was

orbee's turn

next was a monkey exhibit you could

throw some peanuts in and the monkeys

would pick them up and eat him

when one monkey saw orbee he stretched

his hand

way way up towards orbee to ask for some

dad told orbee to throw it because

sometimes monkey can pinch or bite

even though they don't mean to

katie loved the monkeys and so did

orbeez

soon it was time to go mom promised that

they would come back to the zoo

over and over again and i hope that one

day

you'll go to the zoo too if you do

you're going to love

discovering all the animals that live

there and

i happen to know they are going to love

discovering you

[Music]

did you know birds don't have any teeth

new babies don't have any teeth people

get two sets of teeth

hamsters rabbits and beavers never

stop growing their teeth and sharks

have way too many teeth

it had been a day of fun

katie discovered that you can't follow a

bubble you blown up to the sky

orbee found out that ants really like it

when a piece of your picnic lands on the

ground

and they both learned that a toy glider

plane really likes to crash into the

grass

[Music]

orbi and katie were in the middle of a

contest with their glider plane

they were both trying to see how far

they could throw them

both planes circled around and landed at

their feet

the second time they flew them up to the

clouds

this was a good idea but one landed in

the tree

and the other fell on orbee's head

because it was so light it certainly

didn't hurt harvey

katie made sure that he was all right

then she looked way

up in the tree to see where her plan had

landed

at first she couldn't see it but then

when the breeze blew

she saw the corner of it through the

branches orbee burbled that maybe they

could throw something at it to get it

down

that was a good idea but what would they

throw

rocks or be tutored katie and orbeez

scooted around looking for rocks that

would do the job

katie found one that was too big orbee

found one that was

way too little but then they found a

little pile of rocks that were

just the right size katie and orbee

stood under the tree

orbee wound up to throw the rock with

all his might

but right before he let go katie stopped

him

she pointed out that the rocks just like

the plane might fall on his or her head

that would be dangerous orbee looked at

the rock in his hand and burbled it

he was glad katie had stopped him

because for sure it would hurt

then katie had an idea why didn't orbee

just climb up and get the plane

orbee looked at the tree it was a good

one for climbing

but the plane was up pretty high

orbee pulled himself up in the lowest

branch and held on tight to the tree

from the ground katie called to him and

told him what a good job he was doing

now i have to tell you that orbee was

very happy to climb up and get the plane

but

the sections on his hands didn't really

work on the tree bark

orbee felt that it was too hard to hold

on

he looked down at katie and burbled his

problem to her

she thought for a moment and then

decided that she would try it instead

she was used to her hands not sticking

to things

orbee helped her up onto the first

branch

katie hugged the tree and then slowly

began to climb

bobby told her to be careful and she was

she held onto each branch very tightly

soon she could see the plane and orbee

told her she was

almost there katie's running shoes

slipped

but she was holding on tightly so she

pulled herself onto a better branch

orbee tooted that she was the best

climber he had ever seen

katie smiled and reached for the little

plane

holding onto the tree she waved the

planet orbee to let him know she was

there

when she looked down for orbee she

noticed how

very high up she was orbee looked

far away for the very first time

katie thought about falling and that if

she did fall

she would really hurt herself she

had climbed too high she called to orbee

to help her

on the ground orbee didn't know what to

do he really couldn't hold on to the

bark well enough

so he scooted inside to get mom or dad

[Music]

when mom came running out she was upset

she tried to think of what was the best

thing to do

she climbed up as high as she could but

she realized

she wasn't strong enough to get katie

out of the tree herself

she did tell katie that it would be all

right dad had gone to the corner store

and would be right back

she asked her to sit in the branch and

wait

tom heard mom calling to katie and

popped around to the backyard

he had a very good idea he asked mom if

she had a ladder

mom nodded and pointed at the garage she

was not going to leave the tree

as long as katie was in it katie was

starting to feel

a bit like crying but mom told her not

to cry because she had to hold on tight

tom raced around the house with a long

ladder and placed it on the tree

dad came around too because he could

hear everybody calling to katie

you can imagine how shocked he was to

see his little girl

up too high in the tree tom set the

ladder up and dance said he would climb

it

tom and mom steadied it at the bottom

and dad hurried up

katie was glad to see dan her dad told

her to hold onto the tree until he told

her to let go

they would have to do it very carefully

he asked

her to send the plane down to orbee the

plane

drifted slowly down then dad made

a basket for katie with his body and

asked her

to step onto the ladder katie was very

careful

and listened to her dad as she moved

slowly they came down the ladder

together

orbee couldn't help jumping and spinning

when they got near the ground

dad saved the day with the help of tom

and mom

katie was very glad to get back to the

ground

she thanked everybody and apologized for

not noticing how high she was getting

mom hugged her and said all she cared

about was that she was safe on the

ground

tom told mum that he loved to climb when

he was a little boy

his dad made him a tree house so he

could play in the tree safely

orbee couldn't even imagine what a tree

house would look like

dan asked tom if he wanted to give him a

hand and together with the help of katie

and orbee

they would build one right here tom

loved the idea and went home to get some

of his own tools

they spent all that weekend building the

treehouse

it wasn't high up because katie and

orbee were too young to get up too high

by sunday night they had a wonderful

treehouse

they could take toys up to it and have

picnics in it

and just about anything could happen

there

katie and orbee just loved it

and so did all their friends katie

learned a little more about climbing

she learned to remember to look down

so that she could see when she was

getting too high she also learned that

if something is stuck way up in a tree

you need an adult's help to get it down

[Music]

and i hope that if you get something

stuck up in a tree

or get into a situation that might be

dangerous

you remember to ask an adult for help

because you really need it
