06x01 - The Wishing Fountain / Bunton Q. Bunny / Boo Who?

it had been a day of traveling

or we discovered that the ticketman on

the train

was surprised that orbee was handing his

own ticket

katie found out that a train picnic was

lots of fun

and they both learned that after a while

the clickety-clack of the train

made you feel a little snoozy

katie and orbee were on their way to

visit her grandparents

and it was usually great fun to be in

the big city but

i'm sorry to say this time katie was

very sad

the day before their holiday began mrs

perez

had become ill she was in the hospital

katie had wanted to make cards for her

and go visit but the plans for the

holiday

had been set the family had to go

luckily yi ping's family were going to

help mrs perez and that was good except

katie wasn't sure that they would

remember she liked

onion bagels from the bagel shop or that

flowers on her cards made her happy

really she just wanted to be there

herself

as the train rumbled into the station

mom reminded katie that

they would call each night to see how

mrs perret was feeling

on the platform katie threw her arms

around granddaddy and granny

she was really glad to see them but in

her heart she was still

sad about mrs peret the next day

granddaddy took katie and orbee for a

walk in the park

as they walked orbee saw a great

climbing tree and shot

right up to a high branch

grand daddy looked down at katie didn't

she want to climb two he wandered and

katie shook her head

she didn't really feel like it

granddaddy smiled and squeezed her hand

it was hard to be sad

at the old drinking fountain in the

middle of the park orbee took a sip and

then he put his finger in the nozzle

and escorted katie she was very

surprised but she laughed

and she climbed up and tried to do the

same thing to audrey only

she's quartered herself instead it was

it was really funny she tried again

zorbie bent over

laughing and when he straightened up she

squatted the top of his head

before he pretended it was raining and

looked up in the sky for clouds

and katie certainly laughed at that

granddaddy noticed that once they were

walking again

katie's sadness had come back right then

and there he stopped

he told katie and orbee the day struck

him as being an incredible

wish day and on an incredible wish day

well you just had to make a wish

katie and orbee looked at each other

they didn't know what granddaddy was

talking about and immediately he told

them to start

thinking of a wish he knew one of the

best places on earth for wishmaking

and off he went as she raced behind

him katie asked if these wishes really

really came true granddaddy chuckled and

told her every last one of them

katie would have stopped in amazement

but she couldn't she had to run to keep

up and he arrived at a place with some

old trees

that stood in a huge circle bright

colorful flowers grew around them and in

the clearing

bested a tall stone statue of a woman

in the fountain in her arms she held a

huge

shell and from the shell water poured

down

into the fountain making a very

satisfying splashing sound

granddaddy explained it was a wishing

fountain

he told them they had to make a very

good wish

[Music]

everyone knew only good wishes came true

then granddaddy pulled three coins out

of his pocket and they gave

one each to katie and orbee and kept one

for himself

he asked katie to go first but she

wasn't ready yet

she thought hard as orbeez

he wished the rope swing that hung from

a tall old tree in the park

would be empty when they got there so he

could try it

then he closed his eyes and wished hard

tossed the coin into the fountain

granddaddy told him his was a good wish

and was sure to come

true katie was still thinking hard so

granddaddy went next he wished that

today the ice cream vendor at the edge

of the park would have his favorite

orange peach ice cream and with that he

closed his eyes

wished hard and tossed his coin into the

fountain

at last katie moved closer she

was squeezing her wish right into the

coin and granddaddy said he was

surprised

that the coin didn't pop with all that

great wishing going into it and katie

closed her eyes and told the fountain

that she wished

mrs perret would get all better and feel

terrific

really soon and then she scrunched her

eyes tightly with wishing

and tossed the coin into the fire

granddaddy thought katie's was a

very good wish and it would come true

too

later further on in the park orbee

stopped short

right in front of him was the rope swing

there was no one around it it was the

best swing in the world because the

ropes were so

long you could almost swing up to the

sky with a smile from granddaddy

or be shut off in the pink blooper in

seconds he was swinging

up and down and tweeting with glee and

katie was thrilled that his wish had

come true

maybe hers would too

at the edge of the park they approached

the ice cream winter he greeted

granddaddy with a great big orange and

peach ice cream cone

katie and orbee had one too and now

katie was sure her wish would come true

that's why at the end of the day when

katie called to find out how mrs perette

was feeling

she was really disappointed her wish

didn't even nearly come true mrs perette

was still sick

she told her about her wish and that she

was sad it hadn't come true

when granddaddy came in to kiss a good

night

he saw how sad she was he whispered that

sometimes big wishes took a little time

and i think he was right because the

next morning

yi ping called bright and early to tell

katie

that mrs perette had had a great night

and was feeling a whole lot better

mrs peret took the phone from gee ping

and thanked katie for her great wish

she wasn't all better yet but she knew

she would be

soon and i have to tell you that to this

very day

nobody knows for sure if it was the

wishing fountain or not

but mrs perez felt better better than

ever

and that was really all that mattered

and i hope one day when you really need

a wish

you'll wish so hard that you'll almost

pop the coin too

you never know in time your wish might

just come true

did you know everybody has fingerprints

they're the design that all those

squiggly lines make on the ends of your

fingers

your prints will look kind of like your

parents fingerprints

but not exactly fingerprints are unique

just like you

[Music]

it was a wintry day

katie learned that snowflakes don't tap

on the window like rain

orbee found out that if it's really

snowing hard

your footprints get hidden quickly and

they both discovered

that sucking the end of your mutton made

it cold and hard

katy and orbee were headed into the

house to get a carrot for their

snowman's nose

they overheard mom on the phone it was a

conversation about

having someone come for a visit katie

and orbee loved visitors so when mom

hung up

katie asked who was coming as katie

opened the fridge to look for the carrot

mom explained that dad's work partner

eleanor

was going away for the weekend and she

wanted them to babysit

bunton q bunny

i don't have to tell you there was

cheering jumping going on katie looked

at the carrot in her hand and

put it back in the fridge the snowman

would have to go without a nose because

one thing about button he loved carrots

mom told them they'd need to prepare

she took them shopping for vegetables

and rabbit pellets

eleanor said button would come running

for rabbit pellets he loved them so much

at home orbee with a toot declared them

ready

and now all they needed was a bunny

[Music]

at lunch time dad struggled in the door

carrying a wire mesh

cage mutton a pure white bunny was

in the cage huddled up on the side

against dad

dad placed the cage on the floor and

everybody gathered around

katie and orbee were dying to pick him

up and play with him but dad said

bunton needed to understand that they

were his babysitters

katie corrected dead they were bunny

sitters

and dad chuckled she was absolutely

right

and i think button q did understand

because as dad opened the cage

he poked his nose out and sniffed like

crazy

button believed he was a cat he pretty

much did everything the way a cat does

it made him an easy house guest at first

button

hopped this way and that he sniffed

after every hop

katie and orbee followed him

chance was sleeping on the couch and

didn't even notice bunton come

in he was sound asleep dreaming of

playing with a great big ball of wool so

you can imagine his surprise

when he woke up and found out it was

actually a bunny

a chance left right up in the air and

off the couch

button was very surprised but in a

second he too jumped off the couch

and followed chance chance turned when

button got close

and he sniffed the end of bunton's nose

and button sniffed the end of chances no

for a moment no one was too sure what

would happen

but then chance rubbed up against button

and

and both of them seemed to be smiling

and the whole family relaxed

this was going to be a terrific weekend

[Music]

later when bunton q bunny was

comfortable orbee carried him upstairs

to play with him

he and katie played house and button q

was the baby

he put a bonnet on him and pushed him

around the room and a doll carried

and button liked it for a while but then

he jumped on it

katie and orbee were admiring their

silly hats in the mirror at the time so

they didn't see where he went in fact

bunton q went to the best comfy place he

could think of

the costume box when katie found him

missing from the doll carriage he looked

around

orbee burbled that buck and q wanted to

play another game now

a game of hide and seek so katie looked

in the closet

or be crawled under the bed katie looked

behind their stuffy

orbee tried hopping like a bunny to see

where button would go

but they found no bunny mom popped by

the room to see if everything was going

well and they explained that

button q bunny was playing hide and seek

and he was really good at it

they couldn't find him mom smiled at the

two friends

he'd come out soon enough and as a

matter of fact

when katie tossed her hat in the costume

box

button cue who popped his nose right out

mom was right mom thought maybe butt and

q

needed a rest and suggested the friends

go outside to play for a while

and the flash of boots and snow suits

and hats they were heading out the front

door

and orbee called back that they were

going to finish the snowman

as he tooted the word snowman something

soft

white and fast shot out through the open

door

and into the white snow it was button q

orbee was shocked and turned to see him

in the snow but

well all he could see was white

katie saw him go near the bushes but

lost sight of him too

orbee felt sick to his stomach bunton q

wasn't supposed to go outside katie

followed the footprints while orbee

raced in to get bad and mum

they threw on boots and hurried out it

would be awful if bunton q

was lost in the snowy day everybody

called and

looked around the yard and even ye ping

and arthur

who were outside making a snow mountain

came to help

there was no bunt and cue orbee wanted

to take

good care of bunton q not lose him in

the snow

dad explained that it was hard to find

button because

he was camouflaged nature had helped

button q

hide by making him as white as the snow

that way he could keep safe katie and

orbee knew he was a good hider and we're

glad

he was safe but at that very moment they

wished that he had come out

just as dad was crawling under a snowy

bush getting snow down the back of his

pants

orbee had an idea he shot inside and

picked up the bowl of rabbit pellets

he remembered what eleanor had said

out in the snow again while everyone

else was crawling around

orbee sat very still every now and then

he shook the pellets in the bowl he

softly burbled

button q's name and he thought maybe he

noticed something

it was under a bush at the end of the

yard

everyone fell silent he burbled again

two very pink ears picked up at the

sound of the

shaking pellets and in

seconds mutton cubaney was sitting on

orbeez lap nibbling away they were

joyful to find button and nobody was

happier than orbee

who had let him out by accident

that night bunton q slept on orbee's lap

at story time

he was very happy to spend the weekend

with his friends

and i hope if you ever babysit or bunny

sit

you'll take very good care of the guest

pet too

if you do i know they'll be happy to

spend the whole weekend with you

[Music]

did you know whenever you're cold

or hot or feel anything at all your

nerves send a message to your brain to

tell you what's going on

imagine if someone called you to tell

you that you were cold

well in fact your nerves do exactly that

and that's a great thing

so then you'll keep your mitts on when

you're playing in the snow

[Music]

it had been a cool october day

katie found out that in the fall you

might need a jacket

but you don't need mittens orbee learned

that you can make puffy air clouds with

your breath

and they discovered that even the ground

can be crunchy when it gets cold

mom was just zipping up orbeez jacket it

was a chilly autumn afternoon

they were going to visit a pumpkin farm

and that meant they were off to have fun

in the car dad pointed out how it was

getting dark earlier and earlier

katie and orbee looked at the huge

orange sky

and agreed at the farm there was a

parking lot but i have to tell you

it was a little different than most

katie and orbee could hear

a haunting howling sound as soon as dad

turned the engine off

katie grabbed orbee and flunked him in

the back seat

when mom opened the door she realized

that the two friends were afraid

mom sat down beside katie and orbee and

explained that

the pumpkin farm was meant to be fun it

was supposed to be

spooky but a kind of fun spooky

[Music]

katie held onto mom's hand tightly and

orbee held dads

they they weren't sure exactly what was

fun about spooky but they were anxious

to find out

as they walked under the arch leading

into the pumpkin farm

bobby saw something white float across

the sky

at least it looked like it was floating

across the sky

dad told the friends that it was meant

to be a ghost but

in fact it was a sheep bunched up on a

clothesline

katie and orbee giggled at first it had

scared them

but now they knew what it was and they

thought it was funny

the lady selling tickets told them that

the most perfect pumpkin was waiting for

them

katie and orbee were thrilled she

pointed to a dark shadowy path that led

into a forest

the pumpkin was waiting for them at the

end of the path she told them

katie and orbee looked at each other and

gulped

my man dad giggled

and reminded them that it was meant to

be fun

the lady handed each of the friends a

small flashlight with a pumpkin on the

end that lit up

she said the path was terribly spooky

and then she giggled

as the friends walked the orange light

from the flashlights

bounced along the path and as they

rounded the first corner

a little ghost jumped out from behind a

bush

and it waved his arms widely and said

katie and orbee both jumped back and hid

behind mom and dad

the light from orbeez flashlight lit up

the bottom of the ghost

and he had on blue jeans with red

sneakers

and orbee burbled quickly to katie that

he was a person

all dressed up and katie giggled and

said to everybody else

including the little ghost then the

ghost turned and

left back behind the bush they walked

further down the dark path

until they heard a horrible noise

against the big harvest moon that was

just beginning to rise in the evening

sky

something that looked like a wolf was

howling

katie and orbee stood transfixed

which means they didn't move not an inch

they hoped it was someone in a costume

and they found out that they were right

when the world began to

cough

excuse me he said

and everyone broke out laughing again

or be brutal that it really was a fun

kind of spooky

as they rounded the next corner a

skeleton tumbled out of a tree

it surprised dad who was right beside it

and he whooped and

sorted everybody then the skeleton

started to sing

actually a tape recorder started to play

a silly song about

bones the skeleton danced to the music

katie and orbee and mom and dad joined

the skeleton in his dance

then the skeleton zipped back up to his

place on the tree and the family moved

on

carefully following their flashlight

beams on the path

as their eyes were looking down they

didn't see what appeared to be

a whole bunch of bats hanging from the

trees on elastic strings

so they were very surprised when they

bumped right into these pretend bats

katie screamed and and then laughed at

yourself and mom screamed too

it was very funny

[Music]

they made their way through all the

hanging bats and found the path again

the path now seemed dark and it no

longer looked like it led anywhere

anymore

dad took the lead with orbee and tone

as they stepped past the two big bushes

one on either side of the path

lights flashed on and the trumpet tooted

the family found themselves standing in

front of a

great big pile of pumpkins

katie and orbee had never seen so many

pumpkins

in their whole life the ticket lady

greeted them again

and told them they could choose any

pumpkin they wanted

large or small katy and orbee raced to

the pumpkin pie

and looked over them all at first obi

wanted a tiny one that had a funny shape

to it

but then katie grabbed his jacket's

sleeve she pulled him around to a

pumpkin

that was almost as big as orbeez

it was big and fat and perfect for

carving a pumpkin face on

orbee just loved the pumpkin cave he had

found

dad i have to tell you groaned he asked

if they knew how heavy that pumpkin was

going to be

and just then a teenage boy pushing a

wheelbarrow came over

he offered to help carry it dad

appreciated his help and together

they lifted the huge pumpkin into the

wheelbarrow

as they were placing it in the trunk can

you notice that the boy was wearing

red sneakers everybody laughed

when they realized he was the ghost

orbited he was a terrific ghost and he

wished he could be one too one day

the boy crouched beside orbee and told

him if he wanted to

he could come back when he was older and

give it a try

all the way home orbee talked about how

spooky he would be when he was a ghost

and katie thought about the kind of pace

that would be just right for the pumpkin

the next night they helped dad carve the

pumpkin

and put a candle inside

the face was just as katie had imagined

the pumpkin was the most perfect one in

the whole neighborhood

everybody agreed and

i just know that if you'd seen their

pumpkin glowing in the night

you would have thought so too

you
