it had been a week of getting ready

katie learned that when the visitor

comes to stay it's nice to have what

they really like to eat in the house

orbee found out that visitors need their

own sets of towels

and they both discovered that sometimes

one visitor feels like a party

[Music]

katie and orbee tiptoed down the stairs

because grandma was sleeping in the

guest room she had arrived very late the

night before

as katie and orbee silently stepped off

the bottom stair

they were surprised to hear grandma say

good morning

and there she was sitting in the living

room well i'm sure you can imagine the

kisses and hugs that followed

grandma told him that she'd been looking

for the old photo albums

katie and orbee hadn't looked at the

family albums in a very long time

especially not the old ones with all the

baby pictures

so they climbed up beside her to look

too as they turned the pages

they chuckled at how funny mom and dad

looked when they were little

even when they were holding baby katie

they looked a little different than they

did now

orbeez katie looked funny with the bald

head

everybody giggled grandma mentioned that

katie looked a little like mom in that

photo

and then there was one of katie on her

first birthday

all covered in chocolate cake and

sitting in a high chair

grandpa pointed out that katie's face

was

almost the same shape as dad's katie

beamed

as the pages turned orbee looked at each

picture with great interest

the one of katie learning to walk and

looking very wobbly

was a lot of fun but i have to tell you

that it wasn't long before something an

orbeez little pink heart

began to sink it began to sink because

he noticed that there were absolutely no

pictures of him

anywhere grandma and katie didn't notice

it

orbee wasn't looking at the pictures

anymore

orbee was busy trying to remember if he

had done things like that when he was

little

he wasn't even sure what he looked like

when he was a baby

i guess you can imagine he was a little

sad

gently he slid off the couch and went

out to the back door stoop

he plucked himself down and thought

about his eyes they didn't look like

mugs

his chin wasn't like dad's either as a

matter of fact

he wasn't like them at

[Music]

or he sat up straight he would go and

find something

that mom and dad had that was the same

as him

in the kitchen bad unshaven and sleeky

was making coffee

he scratched his head and he yawned as

he waited for it to be ready

orbee immediately did the very same

thing

and dad with a huge sigh dropped into a

kitchen chair

too tired to stand orbee mimicked him

almost exactly from the sigh right down

to sinking into the chair

when dad looked at orbee across the

table he told him that he was really

tired and

needed his coffee or be burbled the same

back to death

who chuckled he knew orbee didn't drink

coffee

later when dad was shaving in the

bathroom mirror he noticed

orbee was copying his every move

dad smiled and asked orbee to give him a

little time to wake up

he'd had a long day yesterday and had to

drive

all the way to the airport and back late

at night orbee

tiptoed away feeling a little bad when

he noticed mama in the bedroom

she was humming and hanging clothes up

in the hangar

orbee decided that he was much more like

her

right away he picked up his photo of

dads and hooked a hanger through it

in the closet he left up and hung it on

the rack

when mom went to brush her hair he

pretended to brush his hair too

mom giggled at orbeez and he giggled

just like her right back

as she headed down the stairs he

imitated her walk completely

on the last step mom realized she forgot

something

and turned her head back up she bumped

right into orbee

she apologized and told him that maybe

they should play

shadow a little later in the day she

wanted to spend time with grandma

orbee smiled weakly as mom hurried off

with a huge sign orbee went off to the

back porch again

katie called to him but he didn't stop

it was obvious

orbee wasn't very happy orbee slumped

down

this really wasn't his family he knew

they loved him and

all and that was good but the bare truth

was that

he didn't belong a hundred percent a

little tear

rolled down orbeez cheek just as the

screen door

slapped shut and grandma came up

she had a photo album under her arm and

sat right down beside him

orbee burbled that he was sad because he

didn't really belong in the family he

didn't have dad's face

or mom's smile and grandma said that he

had never

been so wrong in his whole life

he opened the photo album he told him it

was all about

one of the very most important days in

this family's life

it was the day or became to stay

glanced over there weren't actual baby

pictures in the album but there were

pictures of

katie and orbeez first hug and dad

holding orbee in the whole family

looking at him with utter joy and orbeez

smile

it was an album about him becoming a

part of the family

he felt very important but he didn't

have any

family traits that made him a real part

of the family

grandma threw back her head and laughed

as she hugged orbee and told him that he

was wrong it was clear that he and dad

had the best senses of humor in the

entire neighborhood

and she reminded him that he was packed

full of mom's creativity

and he and katie were both blessed with

wonderful imaginations

he was an essential part of the family

essential meant a very important part

and that was what he was the family

wouldn't be the same without him with

each word or be filled with joy

when grandma told him that he belonged

to this family

one hundred percent orbeez up and did a

mid-air cartwheel

many smoked grandma on the cheek

about that time sleepy dad energetic

mommy and a little worried katie came

out to see if orbee was okay

orbee jumped up and kissed each one of

them too he was

delirious this was his family

and he absolutely did belong 100

and you know whether you are born into

or chosen by a family you are a very

important part of it too and you belong

to your family

100 just like orbeez

[Music]

icebergs are huge chunks of ice floating

in the coldest waters on earth

some are incredibly tall others are

short and flat

sometimes they move around and break

apart

hey put ice cubes in a bowl of water

and imagine it's an ocean full of

icebergs

[Music]

it had been a day of finding things

katie learned that if you lose a sock in

the dryer you might actually find it

stuck inside your pants

or we found out that if you pour a whole

bag of marbles onto the floor

they will roll everywhere and it'll take

a long time to find them all

and they both discovered that the back

corner of the closet

is a great place to find lost pennies

and toy car wheels

during the night a great white blanket

of snow

fell on the neighborhood the next

morning as katie and orbee were pulling

on their snow clothes to

get out in the deep new snow the

doorbell rang

when they threw open the door they were

surprised to find a delivery man

with a huge parcel standing there he

looked down at the two friends and

asked them their names when they told

him he smiled and

placed the parcel in their hands mom

signed a special

piece of paper after she'd finished and

closed the door

mom discovered the wintry dressed

friends at the kitchen table

jackets unzipped waiting for her they

just positively

had to find out what was in the package

mom cut through the string and in a

second

the paper was torn away

exposing a big box with a note on it

said that these costumes were for katie

and orbeez

they were from auntie nintee actually

her name was auntie jenny but when katie

was a very little girl

she said minty instead of ginny aunt

jenny loved her special katy name and

always used it the note also said

she had made an extra costume for a

friend to use

[Music]

orbee ripped off the tape that was

holding the box clothed

katie pulled up the lid and inside was a

beautiful

princess card dress was long

trimmed with white fluffy stuff when

katie pulled it out she found a

gorgeous glittery crown and put it right

on over her hair

next orbee lifted out a shining knight's

costume

it had a chest plate pretend armor and a

helmet

with a perfect plume that meant the

feather

orbee put the breastplate on and pulled

the helmet over his head

katie giggled but i should tell you

orbee felt magnificent

they pulled the next costume out

together it was all green

and it wasn't until the tail part

slipped out of the box and the headpiece

was exposed

that katie and orbee shouted dragon at

the very same time

they both wanted to be the dragon too

but as it happened

at that very moment the doorbell rang

again

miguel stood at the door with a snow

shovel in his hand

kitty and orbee shouted dragon miguel

turned around quickly to make sure that

there wasn't one behind him

giggling his friends grabbed him and

pulled him into the house

but it was as they were looking at the

costumes that they realized

that they had a problem they wanted to

dress up but they also

wanted to play in the white fluffy snow

before it melted away

mom looked at the three friends and told

them that she had a solution to their

problem

they could wear the headpieces outside

and when they came in again

they could play with the full costume

the three fans

hugged mum she was good at finding

solutions

and with a zip and a zap her friends

were outside

ready for their game

as they dug down in the snow with their

shovels

katie announced that she was going to be

a princess who was looking for her

long-lost dragon miguel who had on the

dragon hood

felt very important as he put his shovel

down and ran to hide

chris says katie commanded knight orbee

to go out and find the dragon and bring

him home

safely sir orbee was very excited

and raced for his sword the princess

stopped him and declared that

he couldn't take a sword on this journey

well as you can imagine sir orbee was

astonished

the princess expected him to go and find

a fire

breathing dragon and bring it home

without his sword

the knights stomped around in the snow

pretending to be angry with the princess

the princess gently scolded him he must

find another

more peaceful way to bring the dragon

back to her

[Music]

orbee who knew exactly where miguel was

hiding trudged around in the deep snow

in the opposite direction pretending to

look for the dragon

then he looped back to miguel miguel

roared and raised his hands over his

head trying to be

terrified fearful sir aubry

backflipped in the snow and shook his

knees

katie and miguel couldn't help laughing

crippling and quaking so orbee told the

dragon

that he just wanted to take him to the

beautiful princess

the dragon growled and stabbed his feet

because

he didn't understand so orbee flipped

and spun in midair

and raced over the snow following his

loop around

path to the princess's castle gasping

for air

or be tooted to the princess the dragon

was mean

and very frightening he couldn't

possibly

even though he was really a brave knight

bring him home without his sword the

princess

kissed sir orbeez cheek and scooped up

some stone

she made it into a snowball and gave it

to the night

sir orbee didn't know what he was

supposed to do with it

katie giggled and told him that it was a

snow apple

a gift for the dragon she added

it was his favorite kind so

the night set up again on his winding

path

when he showed the dragon the apple he

eyed it suspiciously

he sniffed it and then took it with glee

and when the dragon raised his arms up

in the air and roared

sir orbee shrank down waiting to be

eaten up

but instead the dragon patted her orbee

on the head with that the knight led the

dragon home

at the castle where the dragon pretended

to much on his snow apple

sir orbee asked if the apple was magic

the princess told him it was the magic

of doing a friendly thing

then the princess announced that they

had saved her long-lost dragon

and now they must celebrate and enjoy a

hot chocolate together later in the

kitchen

as they put on the full costumes the

friends babbled happily to mom about

their

game mom said when she was little she

loved to play imagination games

just like the three friends she told

them that

imagination was a very wonderful thing

to have

and with it you could always make your

own fun

no matter where you were and i hope you

remember

to make believe and pretend just like

katie

and orbee

[Music]

people make all kinds of neat things out

of clay

you can mold clay with your hands into

figures

or use a potter's wheel which is like a

spinning plate

to make mugs bowls

don't be upset if it doesn't work right

away you can always try again

it was a hot summer's day

katie found out that when the house gets

really warm in the summer even if you

open all the windows

it doesn't always cool down orbee

learned that the higher up in the house

you go the hotter it gets

and they both discovered that ice melts

in your lemonade

really quickly when you're outside in

the sun

katie was stuffing her swim bag into the

trunk of the car when

arthur hurried up the driveway his mom

waved goodbye and wished them all a

great day

they knew it would be because today they

were going to the water slide

when they got there mom and dad set up a

place for their things where

everyone could meet if they got

separated at all

as mom and the friends climbed the

stairs to the slides

dad watched from below he would wait at

the bottom in case anyone needed help

when they came out

at the first slide landing katie looked

in and saw a huge

cavern-like hole with water rushing down

it there were big bumps

and she couldn't see the bottom

katie sure didn't want to go first orbee

did

and arthur wanted to go right after him

mom agreed

the slide supervisor told orbee to wait

while the

teenage boys ahead of them went down it

was hard to wait but

soon enough it was his turn

the man held orbee's arm while he sat

down

he asked if he was ready or be tooted

yes and the man let go

orbee made a fun heat tooting sound as

the slide

and the water whisked him away

in the long tunnel section of the slide

orbee went over some great bumps that

made his stomach rise and fall

then the two spiraled around in a great

rush of water

he giggled all the way

[Music]

as he slid closer to the bottom dad was

right there ready for order

but orbee waved him away and with a

grand swoosh

he got off the end of the slide and

planted per splash and watering

his head popped right up and he swam to

death

when he got out of the water he couldn't

burble fast enough about

how much fun it had been dad nodded and

then turned around just in time

to see arthur come flying out

arthur was laughing all the way into the

water and came up

sputtering dad helped him out then moved

closer for katie

katie screamed all the way down but it

was her

joyful i'm having fun screaming she

blew right into dad's arms when he both

fell back in the water

for this flash mom came down next

[Applause]

on their way up again katie orby and

arthur were ahead of the same teenage

boy

they were talking about how that first

slide was really

just for little kids it didn't bother

katie at all but orbee looked at arthur

when kitty and mom stopped at the lowest

side orbee burbled that

he and arthur wanted to try the next one

up

mom nodded the boys did seem to be

totally fine with the whole adventure

kitty called after them that they were

very brave

they both felt hugely proud to be called

brave

katie and mum waited to make sure the

boys got to the next level safely

katie was helped onto her slide and in a

swish he was gone

mom went next above waiting at the next

slide

the two boys were very excited when they

looked down the ground

seemed far away and at that very moment

the teenagers walked by and pointed up

orbee and arthur both looked straight up

there was another slide it was much

higher than where they were

arthur tugged on orbeez arm

as they left the line they were in he

told orbee that

if the little slide was fun imagine

how much fun an even higher slide would

be

they raced up the stairs passing the

teenagers

at the next level the boys looked over

the railing and realized that

they were so high up they couldn't see

dad

the people on the ground seemed tiny

the two friends were both feeling a

little unsure

that's when one of the teenagers spoke

directly to them he told them

that to go down the even higher slide

you

had to be tough and not give into fear

both were afraid to go higher but slowly

they crept

up arthur pointed out that from where

they were now the slide looked

really winding wild

but he didn't say let's not go on it

or be wished he had

after a few more steps orbee pointed out

that they still had a way to go but he

didn't say

so let's not go any further which arthur

wished he had

they both wanted to be brave

but in fact neither of them were feeling

very brave at all

behind them the teenager said that these

two friends might be just the bravest

kids he'd ever met

with gulps they inched up

soon they reached the top as they inch

closer and closer to the slide or be

held onto arthur's hand and

arthur held him right back

the teenager laughingly asked them if

they were

chickening out neither one of them

responded

the slide operator noticed that the two

friends were frightened

she whispered to them that it was far

better to admit that you were afraid and

go back

than to do something you didn't really

want to do

arthur and orbee grins relieved they

turned to head down the stairs

and bumped right into dad he was out of

breath from running

all the way up when they hadn't come out

the bottom

he knew something was wrong

dad thanked the slide operator we all

walked down to the slide two platforms

below

where they formed a chain and bounced

through the winding tunnel

occasionally coming out into sunny parts

where they could see

far below when they shot out the bottom

one two three no one was happier to see

them

then katie kitty grabbed orbee and

hugged him plucked

that explained what had happened and mom

glowed with pride

he told them she was impressed beyond

words

that they hadn't let the teenager

pressure them into going

the two boys felt better about their

decision

so was dad who was delighted that he

didn't have to go down that wild ride

after them

and i hope if someone tries to make you

feel like

doing something you really don't want to

do

but you'll be as brave as orbian arthur

and say no

if you do i for one will be

enormously proud of you
