welcome welcome to papua land i'm so

glad you could make it today

are you all ready for some fun hey sunny

don't you know what time it is

oh my it's blue after two it's time to

get inspired to draw

what do you say kids how should we get

inspired today

what's that you say did you say papi

scope

that's a wonderful idea now why didn't i

think of that

down scope

let's take a peek to start our day off

the peppy scope will give us an

idea you know inspire us okay girls and

boys

here goes

hello papi come on girls and boys we're

going to donkey dance

he lives in the barnyard hello pappy

i'll send the children be sure to say

okay you want to go into papua land with

me right

good we're going to journey through the

barnyard the place where donkey dan

lives

going to be so much fun we're going to

learn to draw

and see whatever else might happen

the country lane and visit my good

friend donkey dan

hello hello donkey dan i'm so glad to

see that you're home

yeah howdy pappy here how are you doing

i'm so he happy to see you i'm fine

donkey dan i'm happy to see you too

i haven't he haven't seen you in so

long i thought you weren't ever coming

back oh don't ever think that

i'm committed to visiting my friends

committed what does that mean

hmm that's a very good question

what do you think girls and boys do you

know what commitment is

why don't you try to teach us with our

drawing papi

that's an excellent suggestion that's

exactly what i'll do

get your cranes or markers ready i know

just what we're going to learn how to

draw

okay are you ready good

well boys and girls this is my favorite

part of the show when we get to draw

together

today we're going to draw a postman now

i want you to follow along with me very

closely and when i start putting my

marker down

and moving it across the paper you

follow right along with me

okay okay i hope everybody's ready

because i

am here we go we're going to start out

by drawing his hat

okay and the hat is simply a flat

horizontal line

now horizontal line is just a straight

flat line follow along and i'll show you

that's right it's just a flat straight

line

okay now the tip of his hat

is going to come up just like this now

put your marker down

right at this point and just bring it up

a little bit like that

good okay now we're going to make

another horizontal line

follow along just like

that good now put your marker or pencil

or crayon

right at this point here and we're going

to

connect it just like that okay

that's the bottom of his hat now we're

going to make the top part of his hat

and it's simply a long curved line now

follow along

very closely here we go in fact i'll

show you we're going to just kind of

swoop around like this just a swooping

motion like this

get ready here we go just

like that

good okay now let's start over here at

this point

because we're going to be drawing the

postman's nose and it's a

curved line

just like that good you're doing

wonderful

okay now at this point right here we're

going to kind of

make a short line just like that

now follow along closely right below his

nose we're going to put a smile and

that's merely a

short curved line just like that

now we're going to put another line

right at the tip

of the line you just drew and that's

going to show he's smiling

just like that wonderful

wonderful you're doing wonderful okay

let's put an ear on our postman

it's simply a curved line starting right

here at this point

swooping around start at that point and

swoop around

just like that take your time take your

time

good okay let's go to the postman's eyes

now eyes are merely a circle just a

round

circle and i'll bet boys and girls know

how to draw a circle don't you because

you've practiced i'll bet

okay let's draw our circle right now

follow along now

right here at this spot right here

notice i'm going in this circular motion

just like that and i'm ready to do it

here we go

here comes my circle good

oh i can tell you did a good job too

okay

now he needs a little black dot to show

that he has an iris

okay that's the little color inside of

your in your eye now sometimes it's

brown sometimes it's black sometimes

it's blue

you can call it anything you want okay

in this case i'm using black

here we go it's just a small circle

good okay let's draw the scarf

on the postman here we go starting at

this point right here

we're going to draw a long swooping line

okay did you get that

it's just another long swooping line

okay

now let's start at this point and put a

small line here and right at that point

another one even with that one just like

that

good okay now we'll just connect it here

good and we're going to start at this

point over here

just like that and now we're going to

make the scarf

okay it's kind of like a curved line

just like that

can you do two okay good let's do

another one

good let's do another one

oh that's real good now let's connect

them on the end

just like that and start at that point

and it's just a small

connection like that good okay let's

bring

the fun of this shirt down like this

good and we're going to connect it right

here

good now over here we'll start at this

point and bring this line out here

bring it down bring it over

and now it's time to make his fingers so

we'll make small

loops for his fingers here's his thumb

and then one two

three fingers

okay and let's just connect it like that

he's a cartoon he only has four fingers

okay now we're gonna start with the

other arm and we'll start right

here where the scarf meets okay and

let's just bring that around just like

that

stop another line here and connect it

good and we'll start at this point here

bring this line over and

one loop two loops and just three loops

there

good now he's holding male so we're

going to start with a straight line

right at this point and bring it over

bring it down and bring it over

and we'll do the same thing on the

opposite side start here

bring it over bring it down bring it

over

good and we'll just do that again bring

it over bring it down

bring it over he's carrying two

envelopes okay

now he's have he has a sack around his

shoulder

so we'll bring that strap right around

his body like this starting right here

at this point

we'll bring it right down and we'll come

over and around and stop

good that was a big line i hope you

followed along

now at this point right here we'll just

bring that across

and that'll be the inside of his pouch

and we'll put

one line here one line there

and back down again are you following

along

good and starting at this point here

we'll bring that line

down and then bring it over now we're

ready for his legs

good okay let's start right here

one line here one line there

and we'll bring that up and stop right

at that point

okay now we'll bring this line here

bring it over and we'll stop at that

point

we'll put his shoes on him by making two

small

curves one two

and again one

two now our postman needs a stripe

and we'll start by putting a line right

here

one line two lines

well we're almost done let's put a line

here to show that he's standing on the

ground

and that's just a kind of a small curved

line connecting here

and then we'll start here and we'll just

bring it out here

very good

well that's our drawing of a postman

now do you understand what commitment is

i'm so he happy to say

i do it means that you don't give up

even when things get your way

that's right donkey dan if you're trying

to do a very specific thing

and something tries to stop you or

discourage you commitment will help you

finish the job

yeah how about a song for the girls and

boys papi

i think that's a good idea donkey dan

how about it girls and boys would you

like to sing a song

you would wonderful let's do it

whenever we want to sing a song all we

need to do is call

sing a song sam oh sing a song come on

along

hi pappy it's good to be here do you

have a song about commitment for us

i sure do then hit

when i it you stick to it you follow

through

until you're through when you commit

that's what you do

that's what we call the myth

when you're in our predicament and

though you're even sick of it

because you're true to what you do you

stick to it commitment

that's what we call commitment

when you open up your mailbox you don't

find a pair of stale

instead you find one better addressed to

you

alone it's there because not santa claus

but your mailman braved the weather

yes your mailman breaks the weather

rain or shine sleet or snow he set his

mind to

go go go because he has a job to do

he does it well until he's through for

his job he's so well fitted

because he is postman committed

when you commit you stick to it you

follow through

until you're through when you commit

that's what you

do that's what we call commitment

when you're in a predicament and though

you're even sick of

it because you're true to what you do

you'll stick to

it commitment that's what we call

commitment

that's what we call

wasn't that a bunch of fun girls and

boys are you ready to learn how to call

your picture of the postman now

you are good

okay get your crayons ready we're going

to begin

i wasn't sure if you were coming back to

color with me today

of course i would elmer i'm committed to

spending time with you too

you can have more than one commitment oh

sure

and just be careful that one doesn't

interfere with the other

oh oh well anyways how about committing

your crayons to that drawing there

good idea ready everyone

okay are you ready here we go we're

going to color our postman

and i'm going to start by coloring his

scarf and i think that

his scarf should be blue it's a very

nice color for a scarf of course you can

color yours red or yellow

or orange or pink or any color you'd

like because

anything can happen when you color okay

here we go

oh that's a nice blue i like that a lot

yes i do

it's very bright color isn't it

okay take your time

oh that's gonna look very nice

okay here we go oh

very good there

and you notice the wind's blowing if you

look at this scarf you notice how it's

kind of pulled back like that

it's because the wind is blowing and and

you know that the postmen

uh sometimes they have to walk through

snow and the rain

and when it's very very hot too they

have to they have to they go out in all

kinds of weather don't they and you see

them every year don't you and they walk

right by your house

don't they they stop at your house and

they go to the next house and

oh they're just very busy deserving

their mails

their mail and packages and things for

for everybody

they go house to house okay let's let's

do the mailman's hat right now

and i'd like to do the the uh the rim of

his hat which is right here

let's do that black okay we'll use the

color black for the rim on his hat

oh boy very good

i love to color with you girls and boys

i have fun and i just try to do the best

i can do

and i'm sure you're doing the best you

can do good

good now what else could be black on our

postman how about his shoes

he might be wearing uh boots or rubbers

and and they they're black aren't they

okay well we'll make black boots right

now we'll just color that in like that

and fill that right in and i'm going to

stop right near the end of his foot here

just like that can you see that i'm not

filling that in all the way because i

want to make it look like it's kind of

shiny so i'll leave a white spot right

there

it's kind of fun to do that it makes it

look shiny

it makes this boot look like it's very

shiny and wet

okay i'll do the same thing on the other

end right here

oh good all right let's do the other

boot now and we'll do the same thing

okay very good

fill that right in and just fill it

right in and take your time and

do the best you can all right now does

anybody have an idea for

is uh the clothes that he's wearing his

uniform

most of the ones that i've seen most of

the postmen they wear kind of a grayish

blue

uh uniform okay so i'm going to use my

gray crayon

here it is and i'm going to color in his

uniform gray

and we'll start on a sleeve here and you

can start anywhere you'd like

as long as it's part of his uniform you

don't want to paint his face gray

all right i won't just do that

like that okay

very good

boy i tell you it's a lot of work

coloring boys and girls

it takes a lot of patience doesn't it

okay

here we go just fill it right in like

that

well i got two arms done now i have to

do the rest and i'll just continue the

collar

there we go lucky

and we'll just continue to use the

crayon here it doesn't matter how big

the crayon is as long as you have a

crayon in your hand you can use any part

of that crayon to color in

here we go just like that good all right

just keep

busy keep working at it this is gonna be

really nice when we're done

yes we are doing a wonderful job aren't

we

okay now i have to do his pants so i'll

continue onward here

just like that oh yes

these don't look pretty good here very

good

all righty and i'll just finish it over

here like that

good now i have one more leg to do here

so bear with me here we go be patient

i'm almost finished here

here we go and we're taking our time now

because we want our picture to come out

as best we can we want to do the best we

can so when we give it to somebody they

can say how nice it is

yes oh good

very good well i think i'm gonna do his

hat gray too okay

i'm gonna do the top of his hat here

which is right here and let's do that

gray also

good

oh i think you're doing a wonderful job

and you know big brother you can help

little brother or little sister too if

they're having a problem feel free to

help them out

because you're a little older than they

are that means you can do it a little

better than they can so feel free to

help them out if they have a problem

but i think they're doing a pretty good

job anyway all right

now there's a stripe on his pant leg

here we want to make that

yellow okay so i'll take my yellow

crayon and let's make that little stripe

yellow

good okay it looks like we want to make

his uh bag

you know the bag that he carries all his

envelopes in let's make that brown okay

here we go

good we'll just fill that right in like

that

papi goes fast doesn't he well you don't

have to go this fast

pappy's just been doing this so long

that i just

i'm an expert at it now i've been

coloring so long and you can too when

you

the longer you color the better you'll

get there we go

now i think i'll i'll just call his face

tan

and i'll just continue onward

well color on his face like that very

good

he's looking he's looking good isn't he

boys and girls

yes sir all right

now let's do his hand

and that'll just about finish it right

up for us well that's looking very nice

okay and i'm blowing away all the

little pieces of crayon that kind of get

on the drawing paper here

and that just about finishes it up yes

it does and

there that looks good

how about yours does it look like mine

different maybe remember that's okay if

it looks different

if you like you can give it to someone

you think is special

or you can even send it to me at the

address on the end of the program

you never know i may show your drawing

on a future episode of our show
