How many times is forgiveness

mentioned in the Bible, hmm?

The concept of forgiveness,

including words like forgive

or forgiving and forgiven appear

over 120 times in the Bible.

You do the math.

That's almost two times.

And if something is mentioned that much,

I'm thinking, okay, this is important

and this is important to

God, so pay attention.

Webster's offers us synonyms

like heart, exoneration,

clemency, leniency, and oh,

here's my favorite, mercy.

Mark puts it this way

in chapter 11, verse 25,

"And whenever you stand praying, forgive,

if you have anything against anyone,

so that your father, who also is

in heaven may forgive

you your trespasses."

Sometimes the hardest person

to forgive is yourself.

You thought you were in

control, didn't you, huh?

Yeah, you thought you were

in control of some situation.

Now it's not going your way,

and you're carrying all the baggage

and that guilt on your shoulders.

Face all frowned up,

hunched over like Quasimodo

because it's so heavy.

I don't know what your forgiveness is.

Asking for it, offering it,

or giving it to yourself.

And all, and I mean, all

of it comes through God

and in him, and only in him,

you have the best example

of what forgiveness really is.
