Grand py py nice weather we're having in

papy land yes it's nice and sunny

speaking of Sunny hey Sunny don't you

know what time it

is yes it's time to say welcome to papy

land girls and boys I'm glad you're here

I can see Chanel and Peter and there's

Bridget and Shannon and Muhammad and

Alex too

you all look brigh eyed and bushy tail

today what's that did that remind

someone of our bright-eyed bushy tail

friend Chucky wood Chuckles some of you

say you'd like to visit Chucky today

that idea is a good one hey pppy I heard

a good one the other day are you going

to tell us another one of your silly

jokes Elmer since you asked me so nicely

I guess I will tell you one okay Elmer

go ahead how can you keep from getting

wet when you're in the bathtub

I don't know Elmer how can you keep from

getting wet in the bathtub don't turn on

the

water oh Elmer and now that I know you'd

like to visit Chucky wood Chuckles today

let's not delay how would you like to

get inspired today let's see there's the

papy scope uh the py pad Express uh the

wishing wheel or the much more door H

which one will it

be so much more door door do you know

why we call this the much more door it's

because once we open the door we'll see

much more should I open it now girls and

boys I should come on let's

g-g but how do you put them

together oh I give up hello

Chucky I see you're learning how to read

reading is the greatest it's not so

great for me papy I couldn't read

yesterday I can't read today and I

probably won't read tomorrow or ever but

Chucky you're getting very close to

being able to read now I am sure you are

you know the sounds the letters make now

you have to put the sounds together to

make words it's too hard I don't think I

can was there ever anything you really

wanted to do and you couldn't do it at

first but you worked hard and after a

while you learned how to do it h yeah

when I was a little wood chuckle I

didn't know how to dig but I practiced

and practiced and learned how What would

would have happened if you quit trying

to learn how to dig I sure would have

missed a lot of fun digging is one of my

most favorite things to do I really dig

it Chucky there's a choice for you to

make but before I tell you what the

choice is let's draw a picture that will

tell you something about sticking to it

okay we're going to do a drawing of a

little girl planting a

Seedling all right I'm going to get

started by drawing her hair

first start starting right here let's

put a curved line right

there and a curve line right there and

another and

another and

another good all right let's draw the

top of her

hair we put a curve line there and we're

going to put a

long curved line right here for the back

of her

head just like like so good you don't

have to draw her hair the way papy's

drawing it you can draw curly hair or

wavy hair or long or short hair papy's

going to put a ponytail on his little

girl all right H what can py put on on

her ponytail to hold it together uh did

somebody say a ribbon or a bow that's a

pfic idea let's put a a ribbon right

here

there that does look good thank you for

that wonderful

idea okay now starting right here I'm

going to make a

long another curv line and stop and

starting right here I'm going to bring

it

over and stop right there all right now

let's draw her

face so I'm I'm going to put a small

line right there and now we're going to

come all the way around and stop a nice

curved line right here here we

go good H I think I'll put her ear on

right now let's draw her ear right

here and a small little line there very

good all right now she's looking down so

papy's going to draw her eyes so they're

looking down she's going to be kneeling

down on the ground to plant her

seedling so I'll put one curve line

there and another right there that makes

her look

down and let's put some eyebrows right

here all right H what should I draw next

oh somebody said a nose that's another

good idea let's put a nose right here by

drawing a little looping line like

that starting right here bring it

down and another curved line upward

because she's happy good okay now I'm

going to draw her body that's the next

thing we're going to draw so let's get

started I'll start by drawing her back

and I'm going to start right here at the

lower part of the ear and bring this

line right

around very good and uh we'll draw the

front of her shirt by putting a line

there

a small line right at that point and

let's connect it but don't go all the

way stop right

there and leave this little space here

because that's where her arm's going to

be and we'll bring that around good all

right starting right here below her chin

we're going to draw her right arm the

sleeve for the right arm let's draw the

sleeve for the left arm straight line

kind of a straight line I started out

curving it and brought it down straight

and bring it around and back up very

good all right let's draw the arm that's

holding the

seedling one curved line there and

another right there and we're going to

draw the fingers by doing a series of

little

ovals ovals are kind of like a flat

circle there we go two fingers three

four and the thumb

and we'll connect it right there okay

let's draw her her left arm which is

right here and that'll be resting on her

knee so we're going to curve two curv

lines like that should do it and we're

going to draw a thumb and remember those

looping lines we did for the other for

the other hand here we're also going to

do that here

one two three

four there make sure she has five

fingers all righty all right let's draw

her shorts I'm going to put a curv line

there and another curve line right about

here and

stop now starting right here let's put

another curve line and bring it

around and two more lines that shows

she's wearing s

now let's draw her

foot very good when you're drawing do

you ever feel like giving up on your

picture

py sometimes I do Chucky and it's hard

to keep trying when I feel that way then

how do you keep

trying I remind myself that I have to

keep trying if I want to finish my

picture and I also think about how great

I feel when I do

finish all right let's let's draw the

seedling now right

here there's the stem and we'll draw two

leaves

one two very good now we're going to

show the ground that she's going to be

there's a hole that she has right in

front here and she's going to put that

seedling in the

ground just like that

there I'll put some d to show the dirt

there we

go all right H when she plants the

seedling here what would be a good thing

to what would she use to water that

seedling did somebody say a watering can

that's another excellent idea let's draw

a watering can right here a straight

line and a curved line and I'm going to

draw a very

small curved line kind of looks like a

half circle now another one inside of

that half circle and connect it in the

center and we'll put a curve line there

to show the top and let's draw the spout

by putting two straight lines

together and a little oval at the

end and let's put another oval right

here to show the inside of the watering

can there our drawing is almost complete

now all we have have to do is put two

small lines right here to show the

shorts

one

two well that finishes our drawing of a

little girl planting a Seedling that

seedling is so tiny I wonder if it will

ever

grow let's see what happens to it start

ah now the rest is up to you Little

Seedling and I'll help you with a nice

drink of

it wow the seedling didn't give up and

now it's a beautiful flower I hope the

flower reminds you of what beautiful

things can happen when you stick to it

now are you ready to make that choice we

talked about earlier I'm ready do you

choose to stick with learning how to

read will you keep trying I really want

to learn to read py I won't give up py

did it I can read a word all by myself I

new it can seem impossible to

do surely as the sun is going to

shine if you don't quit you'll do just

need but surely as the sun is going to

rise that flower will grow before your

Wow oh Elmer I don't think you'll ever

give up when it comes to telling corny

jokes now can I color with the girls and

boys do it do

Elmer let's get ready to color boys and

girls some of you may want to use your

imaginations to color instead of crayons

or

markers I'm going to get started by

coloring in the little girl's

t-shirt is anybody know what color this

is did somebody say

pink that's right it's the color

pink it's a very pretty color isn't it

whoops don't worry if you break a

crayon you can continue by

using any part of the

crayon I'm using the side of the cray

right

now and I'm filling that

in and almost finished

there when you're done with your picture

you could show it to a special person

you

know I think I'm going to do the ribbon

in her hair the same

color so it looks like it's

matching there we

go all right I'm ready to do her shorts

and I think I'm going to

choose orange

you can have fun and choose any color

you'd

like very

nice and I'm going to call her her sock

the same color

there now I'm going to color her

hair H this

color does anybody know know what color

this is can you

guess did you say

black that's

right take your time and follow

along I enjoy

coloring with my papy rific

pals now I'm going to color

the top part of her

hair but py didn't fill it in he stopped

right here and that kind of looks like a

shine doesn't it it makes her hair look

shiny and I'll color in the

ponytail like

so and very good she has very long

hair

good boys and girls have you ever made

up a story about the pictures you draw

you do that's good I would love to read

the children's stories py and I'd love

to see their drawings too maybe some of

the children will send their pictures

and stories into you Lily do you mean it

papy sure all they have to do is send

their pictures to the address shown at

the end of the

show there we

go

and fill that right in

just like

this now I'll do her

fingers and her

arm

whoops and continue colloring the other

arm and fill that right

in a little girl in this picture seems

very confident that she's going to plant

the seedling and I'll bet you it

grows I'm really enjoying our coloring

time together I hope you're enjoying

coloring with py

too color that

in very nice nice and now I'm going to

color in her sneak I think I'll color it

this

color I hope that when you're done

coloring your picture you give it to

somebody special I know I will I think

this is a good color for the watering

can so I'm going to use it

again just like so and fill that

in very

good there's the seedling it the

seedling I want to color in green I

think green would be a wonderful color

for that seedling it's a little

plant and she's just about to plant this

little

ceiling and let's color in the

dirt there we

go well there you have

it I'm glad we kept working on these

drawings let's see what you did hold up

your pictures nice high so I can see

them pfic I can tell you tried your best

that's that's funny my ears are ringing

that's funny all right because it's Bell

Sunny of course hello Belle hello papy I

heard through the gra F that you were

just visiting wood Chuckles Place what's

new there uh Belle likes to keep track

of everything that's going on in papy

land well Belle uh the big news is that

that Chucky learned how to read today

well I scream snd with a cherry on top

that's just great how did he learn by

trying until he could put together the

sounds of the letters to make words I'm

as happy as clam if that he just didn't

give up now papy it's time for you to

visit the Hall of Frames you're right

Belle uh thanks for keeping track of me

that's my job to L hi papy did I hear

somebody say it's time to visit the Hall

of Frames you sure did would you like to

join us buddy sure I can't wait to see

the pictures the boys and girls have

been sending in good then let's

go wow you can really tell that the

girls and boys who drew and colored

these pictures never gave up trying

their best and some of the boys and

girls have added their own ideas to make

their pictures special in their own ways

I'm glad you feel comfortable using your

own ideas wow they're beautiful P look

at what Pap rfic work they've done I

really proud of everyone
