hi everybody can you read what I wrote

with my special pencil try one word at a

time chuck it out talk it out hmm now

how did he do that hey Sonny don't you

know what time it is what you know it

it's bo after two and time to welcome

you to pappyland I'm so glad I see you

Tracy and Richard Justin and Brady I can

see Latasha and you too you look all

ready to draw in color and to sing and

dance I talk to you about all his

talking out stuff through it but but

what Elmer I don't really feel like

talking about it I'm glad you told me

that you feel that way Elmer you just

talked it out I did that's funny I

thought I didn't want to talk when you

told me that you didn't feel like

talking you expressed your feelings

that's talking it out but a nice guy

like me wouldn't want to hurt a nice guy

like you by not talking when you want to

talk but you were nice about it Elmer

you told me how you felt in a weight it

didn't hurt my feelings at all you're a

real gentleman ah shucks you're making

me blush hey I almost forgot I don't

feel like talking right okay Elmer I'll

talk to binky and Lily until you feel

like talking again how he's talking it

out different from just playing talking

Pappy good question Lily talking it out

is when you talk about something that's

important to you something that's on

your mind or bothering you what happens

if you don't talk it out if you hold

your feelings inside you could build up

other feelings like sadness or

eNOS or anger you may even get a

stomachache or a headache once one of

the bumble bees in the field told me

that my nectar was sour I felt so

terrible that I started to wilt but

after a while I got up the courage to

tell him how I felt I told that be how I

didn't like what he said and you know

what once I shared my feelings i perked

right up again I'm glad you talked it

out Lily and when someone say something

that makes you feel bad it helps to

speak up and tell them how you feel what

if they go listen Pappy or what if they

get mad when you try to talk it out if

they won't listen say I'm sorry you're

not in a listening mood or if they get

mad you can say I didn't mean to make

you angry do you think we could get a

grown-up to help us talk it through but

what if the other person just doesn't

feel like talking at all then you could

just walk away and maybe try again later

when they're in a better mood who set

off the alarm don't be alarmed through

it out today you know talking is my

specialty puppy it sure is Belle you're

the most terrific talkative Tucker I

it out with fish face ask him why he

called you that and tell him you didn't

like how it made you feel I bet if you

talk it out you'll work it out I don't

know if I'm ready to talk it out Bobby

well sometimes it's hard to talk things

out because you may not know what to say

if that happens it's okay to give

yourself a little time to think it over

why don't we draw a picture while you

think about it a magnificent idea

if you have your paper and your pencils

your markers already in front of you

that's good if not you can go get them

right now so we can get started alrighty

we're going to draw two whales in the

water and I'm going to start by drawing

the top of the first whale and that's

going to be a looping a long looping

line like the starting right here kind

of a curb very long curve looping line

and relax don't tighten up try and be

real loose and I'm just practicing right

now when I feel comfortable I'm going to

press the tip of the marker down and I

think I'm ready to do it wow they're all

right now starting right here I'm gonna

bring this line over right below it

there'll be another line and stop it

right about there now I'm going to

connect it all the way right up to this

point so starting right here all along

very very slow and bring it around and

stop like there can you see the whale

can you see the whale well I'm going to

put a little small curved line right

here to indicate his cheeks and he's

smiling so that curve line shows you

he's smiling now right about here not

too far away from the last thing that we

drew which was his cheek we're going to

put a circle thank you small and if you

draw a large one that's okay it'll just

be a little funnier than pappy's ok

let's draw another little circle within

that circle

fill it right in there now I'm going to

put a small curved line to show his

eyebrow hmm that's a happy whale right

up here we're going to draw the little

opening on top of the whale's head

sometimes when you see a whale he lets

that water come gushing out of his head

and it looks like that waterfall coming

out of his head dad that's funny isn't

it alright let's start over here with

the other whale and bring another long

looping line curve line and bring it

over a few year but don't stop let's go

all the way around oh stop it right

there we brought it all the way around

and connected it now we'll start right

here and bring this line and we'll

connect it like we did the other one and

stop right there I really like how you

bring your own ideas into the pictures

we draw later on at maybe you could add

in some seagulls fish and seaweed and

other things that you'd find at the

ocean you could write a story about it

too now we're going to do this whales I

like when your career going almost look

like a letter S and we'll put a half

circle here and another circle within

that circle and color the end good whew

he looks a little angry and we'll put an

eyebrow here and explain it downward

because he's a little angry all right he

has teeth it looks like this is where

his teeth our he's kind of gritting his

teeth because he's angry so we'll put

one straight line here and another

straight line next to it like there

if something is bothering you you could

talk about it with your mom or your dad

or your sister or brother or your

teacher there are people who care very

much about the way you feel and we'll

put the integral the lines just indicate

the opening where the water comes

gushing out all righty now we have to

show that he's in the water so we're

going to draw some small little curve

lines that's like that one too recurve

lines did you ever throw a stone in the

inner or something into the into the

lake or into a pond or a stream and when

when the stone hits and the ripples go

outward and you see a whole bunch of

ripples coming one after another like

that well that's what Pappy's trying to

draw here and I think it looks pretty

good alright let's put a another line

right there and another one right here

curve it and another one good alright

see that looks like he's in the water

now doesn't it now let's do the same

thing for this whale and Exeter blind

right about there and stop and another

curve line ringing around good darling

look like like he's in the water and the

water is rippling around them and you

put another one with and then another

wine right yeah good wow that looks like

we're just about done with our two

whales I wonder why that wind looks

upset let's find out hey picture get

moving

my friends left me out I'm upset and

confused talk it out I'll listen and

will I feel better already that whale

grew bigger and bigger as he grew more

and more upset about being left out then

when he started to talk it out he

started to feel better I think I'm ready

to talk it out with his face now Oh

fishface internal oh hey we're happy

hello fishface I need to talk something

out with you fish face I didn't like it

when you called me an ichthyologist it

made me feel upset well I'm sorry you

feel that way turtle Lou but I thought

you liked learning about fish I knew I

loved to learn all about the fish in the

landing then why are you upset because

ecologist sounds really icky what an

ichthyologist is someone who likes to

study fish oh I didn't know that i

thought it meant something else you can

call me and it fiala gist anytime i'm

glad we talked it out so you could

explain what you really meant that

if you have your crayons or markers in

front of you I'll be coloring my drawing

a certain way but you may want to choose

other colors who knows you may even want

to put polka dots on your whale I like

it when you use your own imagination

let's get started okay hmm I'm gonna use

the color purple for one of my whales

here

and I'm going to just color purple on

the outside I won't finish the drawing I

won't finish coloring the whale all the

way i'm just going to color purple on

the outside of the whale just like this

now i'll do the same on the top part of

the whale okay

good now i think i'm going to color the

other whale a nice bright color like

yellow but again you can use your

imagination and color your whale any

color you like I love for you to send me

some whales with polka dots or stripes

on them that would be a lot of fun

alrighty and I'll just fill that right

in like so

here we go and take your time you don't

have to color as fast as Pappy does just

have fun and relax there isn't it nice

the way the whales talked it out it

isn't always easy but sometimes it's

important to speak out when you don't

agree with something that's going on or

what something somebody is saying you

should stand up for yourself and for

what you know is right for me in

yourself like I believe in you hmmm

alrighty now i think i'm going to take

my yellow crayon again and now i'm going

to color the other whale yellow and

watch what happens when Pappy mixes

purple and yellow we'll see if you can

guess what color I make oh there it is

can you tell Pappy can you guess I hear

it I heard somebody say Brown that's

right purple and yellow make brown isn't

that neat now you know how to mix colors

let's continue around look at that and

we'll just fill it in but I won't fill

it in all the way trying out the color

in his eye but if you color in his eye

don't worry about it just have fun and

don't worry about making mistakes I just

want you to enjoy yourself when you call

it with me err hmm

that looks very nice now if I take my

red crayon and I put it over the yellow

let's see what happens to the other

whale hmm

we've just made our whale look more like

he's smiling because now he has rosy

cheeks and by adding red over the yellow

or the yellow over the red Pepe can make

orange that's right boys and girls red

and yellow make orange okay okay now

let's do the water and I'm going to

choose a blue bluish green tran my blue

green cran is a very good choice for

doing water there we go and I won't call

it all away I'll just follow these black

lines like this okay okay hold your

pictures up nice and high now so I can

see them they are really nice very good

drawing and coloring girls and boys can

we visit to all the frames now so we can

see more of the children's pictures

it sounds like it's time to go there

right now come on pink let's go Wow look

at all the pappy rific pictures aren't

they all different he was giving his

flowers in the field and colors in your

rainbow that's what makes them so

special do you want to remind the girls

and boys how they can send me their

pictures bank sure just mail them to be

address at the end of the program can't

be sure to include your name age and

address very good
