land hi everybody hi Lily today is going

to be a special funfill day in py land

oh thanks papy that water was just what

I needed you're welcome Lily and how is

especially if you straighten out the

hairs on my head no problem

look as great as I feel you sure do and

in your case I guess it's okay if you

let it go to your

welcome to papy land I have some

exciting news to tell you yeah kids if

heard about the papy land race Elmer I

was going to tell well even though it's

not called Elmer's race it's for a good

cause this year it's to help raise money

for the papy land Library thanks for the

information Elmer uh tell me are you

running in the race today well uh no pep

it's right in the middle of my nap time

although I'm sure if I did run I'd beat

everyone yeah and your dreams Elmer hey

that's a good idea I don't mind mind if

I start dreaming right

now oh well even though Elmer's asleep I

know he's excited about the race as

everyone else is why is everyone so

excited about the race py for one thing

it's fun to run and it's good exercise

but even more importantly we're working

as a community to do something really

positive uh what's a community papy uh

well Lily a community is a a group of

friends and relatives or neighbors

working together to get good things

done hello Belle talk to me what's up I

am so glad I got a hold of you papy

something is going on over at Buddy b

Hamlet the starting place for the papy

land race precisely papy there a problem

Turtle Lou is very upset he's lost his

lucky sneakers and the rice is soon to

be

that's terrible Belle a turtle L is a

big part of the race every year I better

a cop her over there right now great

idea papy tell Turtle Lou will'll look

around a cabin for his sneakers just in

case good luck

peppy we're flying over Chucky wood

Chuck's place right now so we should be

community and a poor sense of

Turtle Lou isn't in a very good mood as

sneakers great cesure Sally puy this is

a

catastrophe without my lucky sneakers I

cannot be in the papy land race well

we'll see about that turo but don't give

up on your sneakers yet everybody in

papy land is working together to help

find them they are yep Lily Binky and

Grand are looking around the cabin and

if Elmer ever wakes up he'll help too

plus mailbird and Chucky are looking

high and low me estr soup what

magnificent friends I have in papy land

everyone makes me feel so special that's

what papy land is all about Louie

everyone helps each other out by working

together I brought the whistle that

you'll need to start the race with py

thanks for pitching in Chucky sure py

well I look high in the sky but I

couldn't find Turtle Lo sneakers is

there anything else I can do sure male

bird you can post the flags to help Mark

the course consider it done everybody is

helping out with the papy and rce just

like they were helping me find my

sneakers that's what a community is all

about Turtle well without my lucky

sneakers I guess I won't be running in

the papy land race this year why do you

need those sneakers to run the race

Turtle because they're my lucky sneakers

Poppy I can't do my best without

them that's silly Turtle lucky sneakers

don't help you win the race it's how

hard you

try you know papy you're right I'm a

going to run the race without my lucky

sneakers I'll use my turtle feet instead

that's the winning Spirit Louie I know

you'll do your best I'm glad you decided

to join the race Turtle Lou the papy

Land Community race wouldn't be the same

without you well thank you buddy that's

nice of you to say please blow the

whistle and start the race

position okay everybody get ready on

your mark get set go

okay boys and girls while everybody is

running the race let's do a special

drawing on being a community as since

we've been talking about the pulan

community today I thought we could draw

something that would remind us of all

the communities in the world where

people live work and play together I see

lots of you already have your pencils

markers and crayons in front of you so

let's get started oh if you want you can

watch while I draw that's okay

too hi Pap look at me I can run almost

as fast as I can dig hi CH oh hi you

papy gee it sure is nice you're sitting

there watching us all run

by well I didn't realize when I sat down

I was right in the middle of a

racetrack now let's get to that drawing

on the biggest community of

all Now You See Me Now you don't I move

so fast I see to float bye puy so long

Turtle well kids I think the coast is

clear now yeah okay let's get

drawing we're going to draw a cartoon

globe and I think I'm going to start by

drawing a circle first and we'll start

right here and we'll make it about this

big just like

that all right here we go it's not a

complete circle

and

stop now I'm going to draw some clouds

on the top of the globe's head and we're

going to call that the globe's hair the

clouds are going to be the globe's hair

isn't that silly so I'm going to draw

some curve lines like this and bring it

out and you can make your clouds any way

you'd like but I'm trying to make the

clouds appear to be the cartoon Globes

hair see that and

I'm going to bring it

[Music]

around and you could make your cloudy

hair any shape you'd

like all right now I'm going

to

draw some more curved lines to

show almost like the hair on the side of

the globe's

head good

and we'll continue

here okay now let's start over here and

stop right there

and begin

and stop

there there now let's put two eyes on

our cartoon

Globe one right

there and another next to it like that

two

ovals all right now we'll

indicate some more land over here like

that and let's

put a circle within the other Circle and

another Circle within that Circle and

let's just put a dot inside the little

tiny Circle good now we'll draw the

smile our globe cartoon has a very big

smile and it's a curved line like so and

a small curved line there

and we'll draw the lower

lip just like

so and the upper

lip it looks like a girl

cartoon I think it's going to be a

female Globe yep I'm drawing long

eyelashes just like that

now let's draw

the the body of our cartoon Globe just a

curved line there and another curve line

right

there and this will be her arm and bring

it up and start over here and draw the

other

arm and just some looping lines like

that just to indicate that are

hands are folded like

that now let's just draw a part of the

body here if she's wearing a dress then

it looks like the wind is blowing so

we're going to draw some long curv

righty it's a great feeling being able

to do something for your community or

for some someone who could use your help

you might want to ask your mom or dad a

teacher or friend about some of the ways

that you could help

out and now let's finish finish the

bottom portion of this flowing

dress the wind is

blowing and let's

indicate one of her

feet and and the other foot

here good now

let's indicate some clouds in the sky

because the globe or the Earth her head

is shaped like the Earth and it's in the

sky

and draw

curve shape like this you can make your

Cloud any shape you would like to make

just have fun with it and use your

imagination yours doesn't have to look

the same as

papy's well that about finishes our

drawing as we know from our experiences

today in papy land we each belong to a

community like our family schools or

neighborhoods but did you know there's

also a world community that everyone on

the planet belongs to that's right and

what do you think we all could do to

help this world Community we live in H H

let's ask the drawing and see what kind

of advice we can get drawing show us

what all of us can do to help the world

Community everyone can help the Earth by

reusing Recycling and reducing we can

all work together as a community to help

keep the world clean and

safe what a great message in fact it

makes me want to sing a song about

do you hear that boys and girls that

sound can only mean one thing I think

we're about to get a visit from Doodle

oh we all did papy you all did how we

raised enough money to buy lots of new

books for the papy land Library great so

everyone wins and we had lots of fun too

now that's what I call a community that

cares about each other and has fun at

the same time a Chucky what do you have

there why it's Turtle Lo's lucky

sneakers I found them behind a rock near

my log of course I remember now I was

there yesterday practicing for the big

race today but you know something Chucky

what those aren't my lucky sneakers

anymore they're not nope poy taught me

that it's not my sneakers that bring me

luck I make my own luck by doing my best

that that's right Turtle loo oh I get it

oh I guess that means my lucky Honey Jar

isn't really lucky I'm lucky when I do

my best so that means even if I'm not

wearing my lucky hat I can still did

good tunnels now you got it fellas come

on boys and girls it's time to copter

back to the cabin and color our picture

so

long I see that Elmer is still dreaming

about running the py land

race Pleasant greens

Elmer come on kids let's color our

picture I see lots of you have your own

crayons markers or colored pencils ready

if you don't you can get them right

now okay I'm going to begin by coloring

in lady Earth's

hair which is clouds they're clouds

aren't

they very comical

to see clouds on top of the Earth's head

like

this but this

is a

[Music]

cartoon and we'll just color in this

light blue color which I picked and feel

free to

choose any color of your

choice there you go

there we

go and we'll move over

here and get this other

cloud like that and another one over

here did somebody

say whoops it's okay if you break your

crane don't worry about

it this somebody say they chose a

different color for the for the clouds

good I like it when you choose your own

colors there we

go now I'm going

to color

in the

water A nice bright blue

like

that and just take your time and have

fun with

it just like papy's

go now I'm going to color in the land

mass here and I'm going

to color

in with a nice green

color because it's land and it's a good

color for the

Land There we

and let's

continue and finish up the other ones

here there we go

and a little blue spot there now let's

color in lady Earth's dress and I think

this color is a wonderful color for her

dress a very nice pink

color oh did somebody say they're

they're coloring their dress yellow

oh I like that idea

and let's just color

that like

that

and very

nice very

nice I'll bet you're doing a wonderful

job aren't you and I know you're trying

very hard to do your best and that's

what

counts are you starting to think of a

neat title for for your picture you

might want to wait until later when you

have finished adding all your own ideas

your title can be funny or a little

mysterious like the planet that had a

bad hair

day now let's H I think I'll

color her

lips like

that and the little do her arms very

lightly like that and her feet

there I'm finished with my drawing how

about you boys and girls how do your

drawings look hold them up nice and high

so I can see them wow they look great

great enough to be in the Hall of Frames

speaking of the Hall of Frames let's go

there now

wow look at all these super drawings

maybe some of them came from your

community aren't these drawings just

great you know I'd love to to see your

drawings too just send them to me at the

address at the end of the show and be
