[Marcie] "Snoopy Makes a Speech."
Here you go. A nice cup of tea.
- [whines]
- Would you care for a sandwich?
[groans]
Remember, sophisticated people
take tiny bites.
Snoopy, you got a letter
from the Head Beagle.
Huh?
[gasps, cheering]
- What's a Head Beagle?
- [cheering]
The Head Beagle is in charge of all dogs.
When he barks, you will listen.
It says, "The Head Beagle has requested
that Snoopy make a big speech."
[gasps]
Why him? He can barely get it together
for a pretend tea party.
Maybe they're seeing if Snoopy
has the right stuff
to become the Head Beagle himself one day.
[gasps, squeals]
If the right stuff is just lying there
and not doing anything, he's a shoo-in.
[grunts, cheers]
The trick to making a good speech
is not getting nervous.
When I have to speak in front of people,
I can get a little tongue-tied.
This week,
I read a book called "Som Tawyer."
I mean, uh, Tom Sawyer.
It takes place on the "Missi-ippi" River.
I mean, the "Sippi-mippi"...
I mean, the... the "Pip-sippi."
[yells] Any questions?
The point is, be confident
and you'll do "gate"... uh, I mean, great!
[groans]
[squeaks, hums]
[grunts]
Hi, Snoopy. I hear you're working
on a big speech for the Head Beagle.
Uh-huh.
[groans]
You want my advice, kid? Just wing it.
That's what I do.
When I'm in front of a bunch of people,
I just keep it loose,
and everything goes smooth as ice.
What about last year's school play, sir?
So, there's these three bears
and this kid named Goldilocks.
Some name, huh?
Anyway, the girl and the bears got hungry,
so they put on some music
and ordered out for pizza.
Not pizzas, sir. Porridge.
She tried three bowls of porridge.
What? Bears don't eat porridge.
That's ridiculous. Who wrote this mess?
[audience laughing]
[laughing]
Fine. It might have gone smoother
if I'd read the script.
The audience did seem to enjoy it, sir.
What can I say? I'm a natural.
Be prepared, or things can go really,
really, really badly.
[whimpers]
[muttering]
[chuckles]
[grumbles]
Having trouble with your speech?
[groans]
Maybe you're overthinking it.
My grandpa says that your first idea
is usually your best idea.
Huh?
[grunts]
[exclaims]
[whines]
[whines]
[sighs]
Don't worry, Snoopy.
I'm sure you'll do better than I would.
When I see all those faces
looking up at me from the audience,
I can't seem to get the words out.
Today, I'd like to talk about
my favorite inventor...
[softly] ...Alexander Graham Bell.
- [child 1] What?
- [child 2] Is he talking to us?
- [child 3] Speak up!
- Alexander Graham Bell!
[softly] He is most famous
for inventing... [speaks indistinctly]
- [child 4] What?
- [child 1] What did he invent?
[child 5] I hope it's the microphone.
All I can say is, make sure you project!
[whimpers]
[Peppermint Patty] Don't get tongue-tied.
Just keep it loosey-goosey.
Be prepared,
or things can go really badly.
- Remember to speak up.
- Always stay calm.
Just ignore all the faces
looking up at you.
- [overlapping chattering]
- [screams]
[Lucy] Stay calm!
Hello?
I said, when you're giving your speech,
be sure to stay calm.
Relax.
Think of something soothing,
like crashing waves.
- Crash! Smash! Bam!
- [whimpers]
Huh.
I've always found crashing waves relaxing.
[whimpering]
- [chirping]
- [whimpers]
I would have thought all our good advice
would've made him nice and calm.
Don't be nervous, Snoopy.
Your speech is going to be great.
You just have to believe in yourself.
I know.
Why don't we be your test audience?
You can practice your speech on us.
How will we know if it's any good?
We don't speak dog.
That's not the point, sir.
We're trying to build his confidence.
What do you say, Snoopy? Give it a try?
- You can do it.
- Come on down.
- Yeah!
- We believe in you!
[chirps]
[clears throat]
[chattering]
[dogs howling]
So how did Snoopy's speech go?
Really well.
In fact, he did such a great job,
he's now helping others get over
their own fear of public speaking.
[chattering]
- [sighs]
- [snoring]
- [chattering]
- [snoring continues]
[chattering]
[cheering, chirping]
[chattering continues]
[scatting]

- [grunts]
Hi, Snoopy. Where are you off to?
"Official scoutmaster journal entry.
Today, I will lead
my brave Beagle Scouts into the woods.
We shall enjoy the great outdoors,
free from all modern conveniences."
No modern conveniences? That is brave.
Uh-huh.
- [exclaims]
- [drumroll]
[straining]
Maybe we should go camping, Marcie.
I'm busy that day.
- Ha!
- [grunts]
[Peppermint Patty] Beagle Scout badge
opportunity number one.
Identifying footprints.

[groaning]
[Snoopy mutters]
[whines]
[exclaims]
[drumroll]
[chuckles]
[bird squawking]
[Peppermint Patty] Beagle Scout badge
opportunity number three.
Understanding nature through sound.
[bird squawks]
[imitates bird]
[bird squawks]
Wow. [chattering]
[owl hoots]
[howls]
[howls]
[howls]
[elephant trumpets]
Huh?

[Marcie] "Happiness Is a Rainy Day."
[whistling]
[chattering]
Meh.
[chuckles]
[thuds]
[screams]
[thunderclap]
[shouting]
[Woodstock chirping, chuckles]
[groans]
Snoopy, isn't this great?
I love rainy days.
Look at the splashing puddles.
Care to join me?
Suit yourself. [laughing]
[whimpers]
Hi, Snoopy.
Looks like you got caught in the rain too.
I was just about to make a break
for my house. Care to join me?
Uh-huh.
[sighs]
Don't be sad, Snoopy.
Rainy days can be a lot of fun.
We could build a couch castle,
the biggest and most majestic
this living room has ever seen.
What do you think, Snoopy?
Snoopy? [gasps]
[triumphant music playing]
Ta-da!
I am King Linus.
I require the help
of my most trusted knight, Sir Snoopy.
[whispering] That's you.
You are my champion.
Our kingdom is in grave danger.
A dragon most fierce is invading.
Only you, Sir Snoopy,
can fight the fiery foe.
[shouts]
- [dragon roars]
- [whimpers]
[roars]
[shouts] I'm soaked!
What's the big idea, you crazy dog?
[Snoopy grunts]
[grumbling]
- [music playing on radio]
- [whistles]
[birds chatter]
[shouting]
- [thunderclap]
- [whimpers]
Snoopy!
You're soaking wet.
Here. Dry off with this.
We're playing dress-up.
It's the best thing to do on a rainy day.
Do you wanna play?
What's this one supposed to be?
That's when I want to dress up
as Marie Curie,
the only person to ever win the Nobel
Prize in two different scientific fields.
Now, this is more like it.
[gasps]
That's my Library Girl costume.
Her superpower is that she can read
a thousand books before checkout time.
Though, she doesn't read them so quickly
that she doesn't enjoy them.
That would defeat the point of reading.
Who wants to play superhero?
Yeah!
[chortles]
Terrible news, Masked Marvel.
The big, bad book burglar has stolen
all the books from the library.
We need to capture her
and return the books at all costs.
Uh-huh.
[Peppermint Patty cackles]
Looking for me, Masked Marvel?
I've come to return your library books.
Take this! And that!
- How about this classic? [cackles]
- [grunting]
Looks like I got here just in time...
to organize these books by the Library
of Congress Classification system.
[cackles]
Shh!
Ooh! You got me!
[laughs]
Hey, it stopped raining.
Whoo-hoo!
[chatters]
[sighs]
[humming]
[thunderclap]
[gasps]
[straining]
- [music playing through radio]
- [cheering]
[whimpers, screams]
[wailing]
Snoopy,
I've been looking all over for you.
[cheers]
Aw. It's okay, boy. Let's go home.
There. Safe and dry.
I guess you didn't get to enjoy
your picnic?
That's okay, because you know what
the best thing to do on a rainy day is?
Have an indoor picnic.
[gasps]
Snoopy, save some for me.
Good grief.
[laughing]
[jazz playing]
