- Yeah, we're having a snow day!

- There are so many fun things we can do on a snow day,

like go ice skating.

[engine revs]

- Whoo-hoo-hoo! - Whoa! Nice!

- Or we can have a snowball fight!

[laughter]

- Oh, yeah!

- We can even go sledding.

Whoo-hoo!

- All right!

[laughter]

[horn fanfare]

Whoa, Blaze!

Look over there!

What do you think that is?

- I don't know, but let's go find out!

- Hello, Monster Machines!

Grab your hats and mittens, 'cause

we're about to begin the greatest snowman

contest in all the world!

[cheers and applause]

To win, you have to build a big snowy snowman,

and whoever builds the biggest

one will win our grand prize,

the hot chocolate trophy!

[cheers and applause]

So come one, come all!

See if you've got what it takes to win

the super snowman contest!

The super snowman contest looks amazing!

- Hey, I've got an idea, AJ.

Why don't we join the contest?

- Yeah!

I'd love to build a great big snowman.

[engine revs]

- [giggles] My snowman is definitely

going to be the best one in the super snowman contest!

And when I win that hot chocolate trophy,

I'm going to drink it all!

And Blaze's snowman, too.

- Blaze's snowman?

[groans] I didn't know Blaze and AJ

were going to be in the super snowman contest too.

I'll never win the hot chocolate trophy

if they're in the contest.

I've got to do something.

- Well, I guess you'll just have

to try your best to beat Blaze and build

a really great snowman.

- [scoffs] Why beat him when I can cheat him?

[laughs]

- OK, AJ, let's get to work building our snowman.

Whoa!

- Oh, boy! - Hey-hey-hey!

- Yeesh!

[balloons popping]

- Ugh!

- Oh, man.

What do we do, Blaze?

Those balloons carried us really far

from the super snowman contest.

- You're right, AJ.

But we can't give up.

If we hurry, I bet we can still make it

back to the contest in time.

- Yeah!

And build the best snowman ever.

There! The perfect snowman.

- Pickle, what are you doing?

- Oh, hi, Crusher.

I'm just reading the instructions

to learn how to use my brand-new

snowman-maker machine.

- Snowman-maker machine?

[laughs] Well, that sounds great!

This machine can make me a snowman

to help me win the contest.

So how does it work, Pickle?

- Gee, I'm not sure.

We'd better read the instructions.

"Congratulations on your purchase

of a snowman-maker machine."

[chuckles] "Be sure to check all parts--"

- [groans]

- "--and carefully assemble your machine in a clean,

well-lit area."

- Ugh, I don't need to listen to those boring instructions.

I'm smart enough to know that to make a snowman,

you just need to push this red button.

[machine whirring]

[laughs] It's working!

- [chuckles] Yep.

According to the instructions, pushing the red button makes

the machine build a snowman, all right--

[machine beeping]

--a meatball snowman!

- Meatball snowman?

Ugh, yuck.

[upbeat music]

- Yeah!

- Whoo-hoo!

Come on, Blaze!

This way!

[engine revs]

Whew, it sure is hot in here.

- Gaskets!

I see what's making this tunnel so warm.

It's those-- fire flowers!

- Oh, man!

If we want to get past these flowers,

we've got to find some way to put out their flame.

- Hey, I've got an idea.

Look!

We can put out the fire with water from that pipe.

- Yeah!

And we can make all that water really big with cohesion!

Check it out.

Cohesion is when things that are the same

stick to each other.

The little particles inside water have a lot of cohesion.

So when one water drop touches another water drop,

they stick together.

- Let's give it a try.

[grunts]

[water dripping]

- It's working!

The water drops are sticking together with cohesion.

- Yeah, but to make the water big enough to put out the fire,

we need to add three more drops.

Count with me.

One, two, three.

- Yeah!

We've got enough--

both: Cohesion!

- Whoo-hoo!

- We put out the fire!

- Come on.

Let's keep going.

[engine revs]

- Look out!

More fire flowers!

To put out the fire, we need even more water.

So let's add five water drops.

- Adding water!

We're almost out of the tunnel!

- But to get there, we've got to get past the biggest

fire flowers of them all.

- To put out the fire, we need the most water yet.

- [groans] I don't have time to listen to instructions, Pickle.

[machine whirring]

[giggles] It's working.

I think it's making me a really cool snowman!

- [laughs] You're right, Crusher.

The instructions say the green button does

make a really cool snowman--

--a pizza snowman!

- Pizza snowman?

[groans] Yuck.

- Whoo-hoo!

- All right!

- If we want to make it back in time for the snowman contest,

we've got to go fast.

[laughter]

- Uh, Blaze, I don't think we're

the only ones out here who like going fast.

[laughter]

- Hubcaps!

It's polar bears!

[laughter]

- Let's get out of here!

[laughter, chittering]

We've got to figure out some way to stop those polar bears

from chasing us.

- Hey, I've got an idea.

What if we stop the polar bears with great big piles of snow?

- Yeah!

And we know a machine that can make big snow piles--

a snow blower!

- Let's get building.

First, let's make a rotating auger to scoop up the snow.

To give me an auger, say auger.

Auger!

Now we just need the blower tubes.

That's where the snow comes out and blows into the air.

To make the blower tubes, say blower tubes.

Blower tubes!

Oh, yeah!

I'm a snow blower monster machine.

[laughter]

- Get ready, Blaze.

Here come the polar bears.

[all chittering]

- Snow blower, activate!

[snow blower whirring]

[snow blower whooshing]

[all murmuring]

Whoo-hoo!

- It worked!

- There were eight polar bears chasing us,

and three got stuck in the snow.

How many bears are left?

Five!

Yeah!

- And here they come.

[laughter]

- Not today, polar bears.

Snow blower, activate!

[snow blower whirring]

[snow blower whooshing]

[all chittering]

[murmuring]

- Whoo-hoo-hoo!

- All right!

There were five polar bears chasing us,

but our snow blower just stopped four of them.

- How many polar bears are left?

One!

Yeah!

There's just one last bear.

- [laughs]

- Whoa, boy.

But he's the biggest polar bear of the bunch.

Snow blower, activate!

[snow blower whirring]

[snow blower whooshing]

- [groans]

- All right!

So long, polar bears! - Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

- [mumbles]

Blaze, look!

The super snowman contest!

We're almost there!

- Yeah!

But we've got to hurry.

We need to get there and build our snowman

before it's too late.

- Super snowman contest, here we come!

[engine revs]

[whimsical music]

- "For more information--"

- [groans]

- "--please visit our website at ww--"

- Pickle, can't you read those instructions any faster?

The contest is about to start and I need a snowman!

- Ooh, this looks interesting.

It says here that to make a really big snowman, press

the purple button.

- The purple button?

[chuckles] That's right here!

[machine whirring]

[giggles] It's working!

I'm definitely going to win the snowman

contest with a big snowman.

- Oh, yeah!

Especially when it's a really big hamburger snowman.

- Hamburger snowman?

- Uh-oh.

[groans] Yuck.

- Oh, mmm.

[chuckles] Delicious!

[musical car horn honking]

both: Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

- All right!

We're almost back at the super snowman contest.

- Yeah!

It's just on the other side of that tunnel.

- Come on!

Whoo-hoo!

- All right!

[loud cracking, thudding]

Huh, I wonder what that noise could be.

- That sounds like--

both: Falling icicles!

- Look out!

Gaskets!

These giant icicles are blocking

the entrance to the tunnel.

- Yeah.

And the only way we're going to get past these icicles

is to smash them with something big and heavy.

- Hey, I've got an idea.

What if we use this snowball?

- Hmm.

That snowball doesn't look big and heavy.

- But it can be if we use cohesion!

- Oh, yeah!

Snow is made of frozen water crystals,

and water has a lot of cohesion.

When we press the snow together,

the water crystals melt a little

and the particles stick to each other.

So the more we roll our snowball,

the more snow will stick to it, and the bigger it'll get.

- Come on, let's give it a try.

[engine revs]

Whoo-hoo!

All right!

It's working!

Our snowball's getting bigger.

But to knock down that icicle wall,

we need a humongous snowball.

- Yeah, we need a snowball that measures .

- Help me make our snowball measure .

Count by tens with us.
