THREE SICK BROTHERS

[music intensifies]

[jackhammer drilling in distance]

[woman] I was here on Monday.

I filled up your fridge.

So you're sure?

You can stay with me. There's room.

[Erik] Mm.

[mother] You know what to take when?

[Erik] Yes.

[mother] I have to go to work.

But I'll be back around 5:00.

By the way, I'm selling the cabin.

So, you'll stay here?

Take it easy?

That's what they told you.

That you needed to rest.

- [Erik] Yeah.

- Okay.

Mom?

[door closes]

[jackhammer drilling in distance]

OUR CABIN

[suspenseful music playing]

[doorbell buzzes]

[dog barking]

[doorbell continues buzzing]

- Little brother.

- f*cking hell.

It's about time.

- It's been so long.

- Oh. Bro-sandwich. [moaning]

Otto. Behave.

Good to see you.

Three years in the loony bin. Look at you!

- It's called a psychiatric ward.

- Whatever. Come on in.

[door closes]

[rapping in English] Open the box ♪

Otto! Indoor voice.

[in falsetto] Open the box

The doctors told me

to avoid all situations that may trigger

the brain's stress center.

[snoring]

[Georg chuckles]

A loud noise can be enough.

Or a sudden movement or

[Georg] Otto, do you hear that?

Under no circumstances, must we [yells]

[laughs]

I mean it. I need quiet.

[in Norwegian]

But you can handle one beer.

A tiny beer. A teeny-weeny beer.

Or how about we go up to the cabin?

One last trip to Daddy's liquor cabinet,

before the cabin gets sold?

Like I said, I need quiet.

Erik, my favorite little brother.

- [Otto] Thumbs-up.

- [Georg] Thumbs-up.

- Yes!

[rap-rock music playing]

While in the madhouse

- [Erik] What do you mean?

This trip would be been more fun

if both sexes were represented.

- That's what our dim-witted brother means.

- [Otto] What does "dim-witted" mean?

- Wasn't the deal to have a quiet trip?

[chuckles]

[laughs]

[in Norwegian]

[Erik] I will. Now, go.

- Hi.

- [Erik] Hi.

Party tonight?

No. Uh, we My brothers and I

are just going to our cabin.

Oh. Sounds nice.

[chuckles]

Yeah.

[Georg and Otto snickering]

[Otto] Hmm.

What are you up to?

[in English] Surprise!

[Georg and Otto laugh]

- Who are you?

- [in Norwegian] Monika.

And you're the little brother?

She was hitchhiking, and we're like, "Hi,"

and she's like, "Hey!"

And we're like, "Cabin party?"

And she's like, "Of course!"

[Monika laughs]

Relax, it's just for fun.

- Yeah, but if it's not okay

- No, no. It'll be fun.

[rock music playing]

Okay. So, just to recap:

You study psychology,

[Otto screams]

[all chuckle]

[playing foreboding notes]

- [Erik plays discordant notes]

[Monika] You know

soon I'll be a trained psychologist,

so, I feel I'm well above average

at reading people

and picking up vibes

and the mood of a room.

After all, it's part of my education.

[chuckles] So, um

if I had felt

the tiniest bit unsafe here

I would have gotten out of here by now.

Why don't you tell me

a little bit about your father?

[Otto sharpening knife]

[Erik] That's Dad.

One hell of a b*stard.

How did he die?

[sighs]

[Monika] Erik!

[cell phone ringing]

MOM

[Monika crying]

[Otto] Is someone calling?

- It's Mom.

- Little, pleasant, dumb Mom.

[cell phone continues ringing]

[grunting]

- You have to stop!

- That would be the decent thing to do.

[panting]

[chuckles]

[sobs]

[Georg] If Erik confessed to k*lling

our father to cover for someone else

who could that have been?

[Georg chuckles]

[alarm beeps]

[mother] Excuse me?

Hi. I'm looking for my son.

Have you seen him?

- Yeah, he was here a couple of hours ago.

- Did you talk to him? How did he seem?

Well, he bought a lot of snacks.

[mother] Mm-hm.

He was going to his cabin

with his brothers.

- Is something wrong?

- No.

[Otto] There.

Now we just have to get the knife.

- "Did you forget to sharpen the knife?"

- [Otto laughs]

- Hey, look who's up and about.

- [Otto] Well, well!

[Erik] We can't do this.

- We have to let her go.

- [Otto] No, no.

Then she'll report us. Don't you get it?

[grunting]

She won't do that.

She won't. Right? You won't, will you?

Give me the knife.

I'll take the knife

and then we'll let her go.

You're forgetting one thing.

You don't call the shots here.

- I do.

- Georg.

[Georg] Hey, stop it.

[Otto chortles]

[sobbing]

but this has gone a bit too far.

- Especially Otto's.

- [Otto] No.

[chuckles] Okay, fine.

And we have to end this, somehow.

[Monika sobbing]

And now there's

only one possibility left

[grunting]

[Otto] Seriously?

[laughs] Yes!

- [Erik] Are you listening?

- Hey!

- On the left.

- The heart is on the left.

- [Otto] Here?

[moaning]
