Well, to me, this is

With cancer, everything's
constantly evolving,

and you've gotta
almost be ahead of it.

And it's so important
to see your doctor.

I see him once a week. It's just
really a regular checkup

'cause cancer is so aggressive.
It is a fighter.

And you've gotta fight
twice as much back.

It puts a perspective in life.
I've been very successful.

But at the end of the day,
health is wealth.

And you know, doing your passion
is what's really important.

My passion is of course, you,
our lives, everything,

but also hair.

[Dr. Piro] Hey guys.
How are you? How are you?

Trying to...Trying to...

Dr. Piro's impacted my life in
many ways, but one of the ways

is to keep me alive. You know,
you can like your doctor,

you can love your doctor.
You guys can be friends,

but you know what? To keep you
truly alive, thriving,

getting past things, that's
truly a special person.

And that's the relationship I
have with Dr. Piro, pure trust.

Well, yeah, four years we've
been walking this road together.

[Kim] It's been four years.

I'm going through stage-four
cancer and it's rectal colon.

And normally there
would be symptoms.

I didn't really have the
traditional symptoms.

When we first got back from
Mexico, we thought this was,

like, a parasite. My stomach
kept growing, you know,

-and we were like-
-Your stomach was out

to here, babe. And you were
like, it's fine. Just give me

some Pepto Bismol.
I don't know what it, like...

Because I really didn't
think it was a big deal.

His doctor tried to kind of give
peace of mind and say, oh, well,

you were just in Mexico.
It's-maybe I'm sure

it's a parasite or something.
Obviously, it wasn't.

[Kim] You were here
with me, Adeel, when...

Honey, honey...

[crying] I have stage four.
And you know, he told me

what stage four was.

-Yeah.
-Stage four, to me,

it seems like, death.

Yeah, but it's not.

I don't know how long
I have with him. And he,

he is constantly dealing
with it and battling it.

The worst part is when
he's, like, in pain. And...

And there's literally nothing
you can do about it.

[Dr. Piro] And we didn't expect
to find cancer, did we?

We did not.

We didn't even process it
for the first couple of hours.

And we had to arrange
an emergency surgery

because you had been
really sick for a few days

with this obstruction.

When you said it,
I was in shock.

Do you remember the first couple
of years, we were able to use

treatments that you
didn't lose your hair?

But then we had to move to one
that did, and also paradoxical

because your business is hair,
right?

My clients would tell me about
their cancer, and my heart

would bleed and say, I want
to share with you so bad.

I think you handled it perfectly
for you and for your life.

And you've worked right
through it, you know?

If you're a little bit tired,
people thought maybe you

-had a c*ck last night.
-Yeah, you know.

Couldn't even imagine
you were in a procedure.

People think that all the time.

You taught me that,
you know what?

There are miracles
every few years.

There are new medications,
new technology.

As long as we get a few years,
in that few years are discovered

new technological changes.
And so many tools that become

available to us that can get
another few years.

And we just kept moving it along
and staying positive.

And being as strategic
as we can,

keeping a close eye on that.
And keeping our fingers

crossed about the development
of new tools.

That's what kept happening.

It's like playing that game
whack-a-mole.

Like, you treat one section.
Then it goes to another section.

You treat that section,
it goes to another.

I'm gonna go tell the staff.
And I need your help because I...

I don't wanna break down
like this in front of them.

'Cause I know that will
freak them out,

but-but I also want to
be real with them.

Well, and if your journey of
telling them authentically

is letting your emotions express
such that you cry, I think,

you know, you owe it to yourself
to let it be as authentic

you know, as you feel it.
Are now gonna also be on a bit

of your personal health
journey with you.

These have been with me
for 14, 15 years.

[Dr. Piro] I know.
That's what I mean.

I see how much
they care about you,

and how much
they believe in you.

So I can tell
them we're hopeful.

Do you know how

Four years,
and you've worked every day.

That's hopeful.

That's the way
you spell hopeful.

I can't imagine
life without him.

I think that's why it's so
important for me, for him,

to deal with this
and to battle with it.

And to k*ll it and get over it.

we're not in remission.

-We've gotten along four years

already, and we're looking
greedily for more.

after stage four.

Well, I just wanted to say to
you guys,

thank you for coming today.

We're always all so busy, but
it's nice to have these moments

and be real with each other.

There is purpose to today.

Um, Kim and I have been going
through something.

Why don't you take it away?

Um, four years ago,
I was diagnosed with

stage-four cancer.

It was really tough
'cause I had to make a decision.

What do you do?
Do you tell everybody?

Do you not tell everybody?

Um, and at that time,
I decided not to tell anyone.

I didn't want to burden anyone.

I didn't want people
to feel pity for me.

I'm in complete and utter shock

'cause Adeel tells me
everything.

Uh, so yeah, this is, like, wow.

And completely unexpected.

It was tough 'cause in my day,

stage four meant you're dead.

Like, for you guys that don't
know, so it's basically,

cancer is stage one, two, three,
four, you're dead.

Like, that's kind of it.

Once you've got somebody who
admits something about them,

you know, you make really
fundamental decisions.

And one of them could be
as simple as, you know,

should I keep going
to the person?

What if the person dies?

These are all morbid thoughts,
but this is what is real.

I'm honestly glad that he is
opening up about this because

the people that you're almost
closest to

can't really support you

because they don't understand
what's going on.

So honestly, I am relieved that
he's sharing.

Did you guys sense?

Like, there were times
where I would get tired,

or I would just, you know,
I'd go through my surgeries.

You know, and I think that's
what's the toughest,

is going through surgeries, and
then I'd come back the next day.

And I didn't do that 'cause we
needed the money.

I did that because I wanted to
feel better and motivated,

and inspired, and I really
wanted to do that for myself.

[Cheyenne] I think we all knew
something bigger was going on,

to be honest with you.

Whenever you're comfortable
divulging whatever you need

to tell people, then you do.

Meanwhile, when you're not
ready, we're there for you.

We'll help you through it.

I'm starting to realize it's one
of those secrets

if you hold on to too much,
it eats away at you.

I'm over the hump.

I am really more excited
to share all this

now with you guys because
I definitely see a game plan,

and a couple years ago,
I really didn't.

I really didn't know where
we were going with this.

And we literally
asked our doctor.

We were like, so should we just
sell everything

and move to the south of France
and, like, live out the last of

you know, Kim's days on a beach
selling bikinis out of a shack?

[Kim] But there's
new medications out.

What's been really amazing is

I think it's an
every two year thing.

Something else comes out
that's new.

Luckily, you know,
we're in this day and age where

there is such amazing medicine.

And he has an amazing doctor
to get him through

[Lauren] Kim's diagnosis is
definitely hard on him,

obviously, but I think we're
forgetting about, like, Adeel.

And to have your partner
be diagnosed

in that late of a
stage of cancer,

I think, being that Kim
is his life partner,

like, I just,
I can't imagine that.

I wanna a point, you know, that
speaks to, like, who you are.

You've not missed
a single day of work.

I just want to say
I'm so proud of you.

Adeel has to be positive
because, um, beating cancer

is also a mindset.
It's no, um...

God, I don't wanna get
emotional. Sorry.

It's just like, 'cause it's not
like...he hasn't beaten it.

You know what I mean?
It's still happening.

You can't do this without a
great team and great support.

And you know, even if you guys
didn't know what was going on...
