WOMAN: We make our
first impressions of each other

within a 10th of a second.

These quick judgments can
change the direction of your
life.

But is it the REAL you
people are seeing?

I'm Kathryn Eisman,

and ever since
I was a young girl,

I've had this ability to
read a person's true character

just by looking at
the clothes they're wearing.

I'm going to invite each of you

into the centre of the circle
with me,

where I'm going to do a
reading,

revealing who I see
when I look at your clothes.

I can see your secrets,

your troubles
and your greatness.

I see
all these beautiful trimmings,

and I see that part of yourself

fighting to come out, actually.

How would you feel
if I took the cap off?

- Very naked and vulnerable.
- Undressed?

Yeah, undressed. Yeah.

She saw straight through
my mask,

into my soul.

This group of people,
whom I've never met,

are taking part
in a unique social experience.

- This is your mother's
wedding dress?
- Yeah, this is my mother's.

By reading their clothes,

I'll unlock
what's holding them back.

When I look at it,
it screams. 'little girl'.

- OK? Little girl, lost.
- Yeah.

You just can't be bothered.

And I want to give you
the motivation to be bothered.

But breaking old habits
can be hard.

I feel stupid because
I don't know how to do it.

Clothing carries
so many memories for us,

sometimes good
and sometimes really painful.

A transformation awaits them,

from the outside in...

It's just clothing,
but at the same time,

it's more than that.

Like it's your soul,
essentially.

Ta-dah!

..to inspire
not just a new look,

but a new way
of looking at themselves.

I'm just so, so happy.

I feel alive. I feel pretty.

And to find out
if changing our clothes

can change our lives.

- (CHEERING)
- Look at you!

Oh, my goodness!

WOMAN: I'm concerned about

the way that
I'm going to present.

I can come across,
a little bit, as hostile.

Allowing someone
to help me move forward

and change the way that
the world sees me,

it's going to be
VERY confronting.

I'm just hoping that being able
to change the outward view

will change
my inward opinion of myself.

Hi. I'm Kathryn.

What's your name?

My name is Krystina.

Krystina, would you like to
have a reading?

For sure.

Krystina, thank you so much
for being here with me.

No worries.

Do you want me to tell you
what I see
when I read your clothes.

- Yep.
- OK.

The butterfly - it's you.

What you are
is you're the butterfly.

And you spend a lot of your
life kind of in the chrysalis.

But you are wanting to
emerge out of it,

you know, fighting through to
become this beautiful woman.

The shirt, obviously connected
to work, OK?

And the pants, you know,
they're just your work uniform,

Thank goodness they provide
one, do they?

- Yes.
- What a relief to you, right?

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

When you come
to see my wardrobe,

90% of it's work clothes.

- That doesn't surprise me.
- So...

It's like, thank God you
don't have to dress yourself.

Exactly. Yeah.

I see your nails.

The last kind of
talons of femininity,
you know what I mean?

Like Thelma and Louise
holding on.

- It's my non-negotiable.
- Exactly.

And that makes you feel
beautiful and feminine.

And that's your thing.

And it is
your non-negotiable, right?

Yeah.

That's what connects you
with that.

Your multiple earrings,
I see the tats -

it's certain kind of messaging
and markings of yourself.

Different things that
you've gone through.

Yeah, 100%. Everyone's got
their own story, so... Yeah.

And then the shoes,
you like to get stuff done,

you know what I mean?

You're not afraid to
kick a few people around

if you think they're not kind
of living up to your standards.

- Am I right?
- Yeah.

You're stricter
than you realise.

And even though you have this

kind of more masculine shirt
on, and clothes,

I see all these
beautiful trimmings

and I see that part of yourself
fighting to come out, actually,

and fighting to see yourself
in that way.

Yeah, 100%.

I actually
bought myself a dress,

and I put it on
and I walked out of my bedroom,

and my 14 year old looks at me
and goes, "Mum, you're a girl?"

I'm like, "Ugh. Yeah, I am,
dude. Thanks for that."

And I'm just going to go back
and put my jeans back on.

- So when he said that...
- He was surprised.

It wasn't
just the way he said it,

it was just like, "Oh, my God,
Mum, you're a girl!"

It actually made me feel bad.

That's interesting. So why did
it make you feel bad?

Because he's never
seen me like that before.

But then you took it off.

Yeah, because I just...

I started feeling
self-conscious

'cause I'm thinking, well,
if HE sees me like that,

what's everybody else going to
see when I walk out the door?

So what was your mother like?
Was she very feminine?

No, not really, no.

She used to ride motorbikes
as well.

And what was the relationship
like with your mother?

Not the best.

Why?

My mother turned around to me -

and it stayed with me,
and I don't know why -

my whole life, she said to me,

"You're the ugly duckling

"and you're never going to be
a beautiful swan."

And I believed it.

That's the way
my life's going to be.

That's the way I'm
going to make it be, you know?

If I'm going to be ugly,
then I'm going to look ugly.

So, um...

You have chosen clothes that

took you out of
the 'female' race.

And that was
a conscious decision,

and subconscious decision

that you had
maybe a long, long time ago

that said, if I'm not going
to be a good-looking woman,

I'm not going to even partake
in the act of being a woman.

I'm just going to
do this, right?

Yeah.

When your mum said

you're an ugly duckling
and you'll always be one

and you believed her,

do you still believe her?

My husband
tries to get me out of it.

He's always telling me
I'm beautiful,

and I just can't take
compliments, you know?

"What do you find beautiful
about me?

My crappy teeth
and my wonky eyes?" You know?

And he's like,
"I don't look at that."

He's always tried to make me
feel like I'm beautiful.

And sometimes he says
it's a losing battle.

Because no matter
what I say to you,

you're not
going to believe me.

I want to feel beautiful.

I want to look in the mirror
and what I see is beautiful.

Not a woman
wearing men's clothes.

So...

Alright, Krystina, are you
ready to become a butterfly?

I hope so. Yes. Yes, I am.

- Shall we do it?
- Yeah, let's do it.

OK, let's do it.

- Thank you.
- (APPLAUSE)

I think Kathryn has done
an outstanding job so far.

She was pretty much spot-on,

as far as my personality
is concerned.

I'm definitely
the kind of person

that likes to
march to my own beat.

My name is Krystina.

I'm 46 years old,
and I'm a train driver.

I've always been
the kind of person

that's lived life
to the fullest,

but in a very small way.

My initial impression on people

is someone that is
quite masculine.

I don't particularly like what
I see when I look in the
mirror.

I've never really
been encouraged

to think that I'm beautiful.

And to feel that
coming from my mother,

the one person in your life

that's supposed to
love you unconditionally,

was heartbreaking.

And as a mother myself,

I could never imagine
doing that to my children.

I would like to feel
a little bit more feminine

in the way that I look.

I attempt to,
by having my nails done

and wearing a little bit of
jewellery and stuff.

But as far as
what I should be wearing,

especially for my body shape,
I have no idea.

I'd like to have dress
bright and cheerful, like I am.

I think this is one of
my favourite photos of us.

MAN: Yeah, I like that one.

We haven't had one done
for a while.

Yeah, well, I just don't
feel that pretty anymore.

You always make me
feel beautiful, but I just...

I don't feel it anymore.

That's probably the last time
I felt pretty.

Um...

What, 10 years
since we had that one done?

You're still the same person
as you were in that photo.

How you feel about yourself
is how you feel about yourself.

Now I need to change the way
you're thinking about yourself.

You're still the same person.
You still look the same.

You're still you.

I know I'm still me,
but I don't know if...

..ME is who I want to be
anymore.

MAN: I love to surf.
It's like meditation to me.

You can just take
a few deep breaths.

The only thing you've got to
worry about is the water.

Forget about everything else.

I do feel like I'm still trying
to find myself.

And that process
takes some time.

Hi. I'm Kathryn.
What's your name?

My name's Latham.

- Lathan, would you like to
have a reading?
- Yeah, of course.

Come on down, Latham.

Great.

- Latham.
- Yeah.

- So lovely to meet you.
- Pleased to meet you too.

I have to say
I want to just start with

this amazing hair that you
have.

The mullet!
Go the mullet, right?

Yeah, up the mull.

It's a big personality thing.

It's something very playful.

It kind of really speaks to

you're not
taking yourself seriously.

And then I see you
wearing this shirt

that I'm feeling that
this is not the first time

we've won the shirt.

No, this is my favourite shirt.

I wear it everywhere, eh.

But it's so loved. And the
pants look really loved.

In fact, everything
looks really loved here.

I like you've been wearing

the same outfit
for a really long time.

I have been, eh?

- (LAUGHTER)
- This is it.

When you wear the same clothes,

it's about trying to
make yourself feel comfortable.

And I see this, like, bright,
amazing kind of point of view

with your hairstyle.

And then I see that

you are kind of repeating
habits again and again

with the clothes that you wear,

because you don't feel
confident to, like, splash out

and try something new,

even though I think
there's a part of you
that would love to.

You just don't have
the confidence to go there yet.

There's more to me
than just, like,

that howdy, daggy,
like, ragamuffin sort of vibe.

Like, there's more to me.

I think there's
a bit more colour,

vibrancy.

And I think I'm quite creative.

And I'm kind of like
banging my head on the wall

'cause, you know, I don't
really get to express that.

So tell me about
what you do for a living.

I'm a landscaper.
I love that.

What do you love about it?

You get to use your hands,
you get to make things,

and it's like, I just love
seeing ideas come to life.

So imagine yourself as a
garden.

How would you plant that?

Maybe like a summer garden,
you know, like, a bit more...

You know, a few flowers.

Maybe a feature tree,
something...

Maybe like a crepe myrtle
over in the corner

in, like, a rusted steel ring.

Like, this is kind of
just like a hedge,

like a big square hedge,
that's it.

Just want to more of myself.

Like, a bit more... Tss!
..a bit more pizzazz.

I feel like I have a bit
of like a feminine side as well

that I'd love to tap into.

I've coined a term for it.

- It's, like,
'staunchly feminine'.

- Staunchly feminine?
- Yeah.

Like where you have a crack

and you wear and something
that is a bit out there.

Like, I have like a bum bag
and it's a bit shiny,

and it's...
Yeah, it makes me feel good.

It makes me feel like I'm
flying.

And we are so going to
tap into that.

Yeah.

- Would you like to go on
this journey with me?
- Absolutely.

- Oh, we're doing it.
- Yeah. Every step of the way.

(APPLAUSE)

It was pretty amazing
to have her read me

and do it so well.

Felt like she was,
like, staring into my soul,

to know all these things
about me.

And it felt a bit, like,
intimate.

If I was to label my style,

it would probably be
'Sunday at the pub'.

And it is confined to
Sunday at the pub.

This is me.

You guys know that this is me.
I just...

I feel like there's
another part of myself.

That feminine side,
that more creative part.

Are you trying to make
a statement or something?

What are you trying to tell us?

No, I just...

You're not chopping your hair,
though, are you?

I don't know. I might be able
to hang onto it.

I'm not too sure yet.

I do like the idea
of being an individual.

And at the moment,
I don't feel like I am.

I don't mind
dressing a little bit feminine.

It's freeing, in a way.

Nothing to be afraid of.
Nothing to be ashamed of.

Like, I've got
lots of other books,

that have got
ALL your baby photos in.

- Look how cute you are there.
- Yeah.

I got to give you props
for dressing me
quite alright there, mum.

Little classic green shirt
there.

We look nice in green.

If I do think of my style,

I feel like I am
a little bit stuck in a rut.

It is hard to find a new style.

Yeah, it is.

And it requires you to put
yourself in the firing line.

- A little bit.
- Of other people's opinions?

Yeah.

It's like, "Oh, look at that.
What's that? Is that new?"

You know you only have to
suffer that in the
face-to-face?

When you walk away, they don't
even think about you again.

Or if you just
keep your head up and own it...

The environments that I'm in

and the environments
that I'm a part of,

I feel like, generally,
don't make that much room

for experimentation of
your look and your style.

And it's a little bit feminine.

You're a male, but
you're wearing feminine things,

and that doesn't matter,
that's fine.

And there's something that's
slightly staunch about that.

It's like solid with yourself,

enough to, like, experiment
with some feminine items.

I think it's really brave of
you

to say, "That's something
I want to explore,"

and then throw yourself into
doing that.

I think it's fantastic.

I don't want to
dress myself like a goose.

And I'm not game enough to try
and dress feminine by myself.

That'd be a disaster.

I just know that
there's somewhere I want to go.

At the end of this experience,
I want to feel like

I'm expressing sides of myself
that I haven't previously.

I want to feel like more of me.

There's such a disconnect

between the inner Latham

and the one he's showing
through clothing.

I'm really excited
to see what's in his wardrobe.

I'm expecting that
the majority of it,

he doesn't even touch.

Well, Latham,
are you ready to bloom?

- Let's see what's...
- Absolutely.

- Can I go inside the wardrobe?
- You're more than welcome.

For someone who wears
the same T-shirt every day,

you actually have some
pretty exciting pieces here.

Yeah, these are all the shirts
that I bypassed to get this
one.

You clearly have
a thing for corduroy.

I love curd, eh? It's, like,
one of my little pleasures.

Now, you talked about
this idea of

wanting to dress kind
of in a staunchly feminine way.

And I love that so much.

What does it mean to you?

Just to, like, let go of
the stereotype

of just trying to be so manly
all the time,

and just letting your hair
down.

Maybe opening up that softer,
more sensitive side of myself,

and, like,
having a bit more spice.

And you said
there was a piece that you had

that made you feel
all those feelings.

Absolutely. Every time
I put it on, I get a big grin.

- What is it?
- I'll show you.

It's just over here.

This is my EXTREMELY special
cross-body bag.

(LAUGHS) This is the one?

And I also adopt, like, a
stance when I put this on as
well.

I always, like, open myself up.

(PULLS ZIP)
It's like...

Oh, I actually have
some sunnies in here.

Like, just the whole..

Oh, wow, they're
staunchly feminine as well.

- I love it.
- Yes.

When you wear this bag,
what's the feeling you get
when you put it on?

I just feel a little bit free.

It's almost like a little bit
of an adrenaline rush.

So, you know I look at
what clothes mean,

and to anyone else,
it's just an old bag.

Yeah, but it's not that to me.

- But to you it's not that.
- It's the gateway to freedom.

And that is what fashion can
do.

And this is something called
fashion essentialism,

where a piece of clothing
has so much significance to you

that it takes on extra meanings
and kind of extra powers.

You said that you feel SO FREE
when you wear this bag.

I want to fill your wardrobe
with things that are like this,

that make you feel free,

make you feel like
you're breaking the rules

and just doing your own thing.

Yeah, that sounds awesome.

Like, you've got floral on now.

Like, if I
wanted to wear floral,

then just being like, "Yeah,
well, I'll put some floral on."

You know, just embracing
all parts of yourself.

So I've got a little bit of
a fashion reset for you.

For seven days,
every single day,

I want you to pick accessories

that give you that same feeling
that bag gives you.

So it could be
a necklace or a brooch.

Paint your nails,
wear some wild floral socks.

All of these kind of flowers

to add a little bit of life

to the bare hedge
that is waiting to bloom.

That sounds awesome.
Let's do it, eh?

- Magic. You up for it?
- So up for it.

OK. I love it. Yay!

Awesome.

Change isn't easy.

A lot of us have been
dressing the same way

for a really long time -

thinking the same way
about ourselves

for a really long time.

Krystina grew up believing that

she was never going to be
a beautiful woman.

So she decided to do away with

dressing in a feminine way
altogether.

There are clues that

she is desperate to show that
side of herself,

but she just
doesn't have the confidence

to bring it into her clothing.

And I'm going to help her
get there.

There is just so much work.

The ratio is off.

Are there any dresses in here?

Yes, there is. There's...

one.

One dress,

that I bought
to wear for a friend's 40th.

So we only have one dress.
I hope you wear it a lot.

I've worn it, maybe, two times.

I like it. I like wearing it.
I like the way I feel.

But I just...
I feel like I'm pretending.

Like, I feel like it's a
costume more than a dress.

Well, that's the thing.

When we're not used to
being feminine,

it does feel a bit
like a costume at first,

because you're not used to
feeling that way.

That doesn't mean that
it isn't natural,

that it isn't part of you.

It just means that
you haven't done it very much.

So I am definitely going to
keep this dress.

We're going to put this
in which pile?

- We're going to keep that one.
- Yeah.

I'm not seeing...

any going-out clothes,
at all, actually.

I'm assuming
you're not going out in that.

No.

That's, um...

That's actually
my mother's wedding dress.

Your mother's?
Can I bring it out?

- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- This is your mother's
wedding dress?

Yeah, this is
my mother's wedding dress.

So is this the mother

who you have
a strained relationship with?

Yes, it is.

And yet you keep it
in your wardrobe.

Yeah, um, well,
it is where I came from.

If it wasn't for that dress,
I wouldn't be here.

But it's rather
triggering for you,

because here's this woman

who told you you'd
never be a beautiful woman.

And then every single day,
in your bedroom,

you are confronted with
a physical reminder

- of that message.
- Yeah.

Do you feel that
the words she said,

you actually took on
to be truth?

Yes. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, definitely.

So do you think having it in
your wardrobe, every single
day,

is the right place for it?

Probably not.

That's one of the main reasons
why I'm here.

I want to get rid of
that voice in my head.

I'm not ugly. I am beautiful.

And...

Yeah, it's not something I can
really say to myself very
often.

- But...
- Say it again.

I am beautiful.

Say it again.

Saying it and believing it
are two completely different...

I just want you to say it.

When was the last time
you said it to yourself?

Hmm... God knows.

- Yeah.
- Yeah.

We don't have to throw it out,

but I definitely don't want you
looking at it every single day

because it's reinforcing

the very problems
that I'm here to fix.

OK, I've got a reset for you.

- Yeah.
- Alright.

Every single day, for the next
seven days until we meet again,

I want you to pick
items of clothing

that make you feel beautiful.

So I want you to
come home from work,

and I want you to
take off your uniform

and not put on your pyjamas
until it's bedtime.

That's going to be challenging.

Bu they're comfy.

Then what I want you to do is
I want you to adorn yourself -

and that means some makeup,
some hair.

And when you put that on,

you will look in the mirror,
give yourself a compliment.

And you have to look yourself
in the eye.

Can't look away.

See her
and give her what she needs

to continue this
transformation.

That's your fashion reset.
Are you going to do it?

Yes, yes. Yes.

And what are we going to do
with that rotten old dress?

We're going to put it in a box
and put it to somewhere else.

I'd like to burn it,
to tell you the truth,

- Will you burn it?
- Yeah, let's burn it.

- Will you...? Yes!
- No, let's...let's burn it.

I'm done with it. Yeah.

- See you later.
- Yep.

See you later.

Getting rid of that dress

and creating space
for her own dresses

is like the physical version

of her getting rid of
her mother's voice in her head,

and making space for
her own new voice,

telling herself
the exact opposite message -

that she IS beautiful.

I know she's ready,

And the best place
to begin your transformation

isn't at a shop,

it's in your very own wardrobe.

I'm definitely going to take

everything that Kathryn said
on board

and I'm going to try this
reset.

Kathryn's reset for me

was to get dressed for dinner
every night.

So, tonight I've got some
close friends over for dinner

and for a couple of them
out there,

it's going to be the first time

they've ever seen me
in something so girly.

Feeling a little bit sick.

MAN: Wow.

Hey, there she is!

(INDISTINCT GREETINGS)

- How we doing?
- Woo-woo!

WOMAN: Hey, beautiful.

That looks nice.

- You like it?
- Yeah, you looks lovely.

- Yeah.
- Hello, darling.

That looks nice.

You look fantastic.

That's what I want to hear.

- I like that dress.
- Thank you.

- Looks good.
- Thank you.

Actually, in the 17 years
I've known you,

tonight's only the second time
I've ever seen you in a dress.

- So when was the first?
- At the wedding.

At the wedding?

It's the only other time
I've seen you in a dress.

- Yep.
- Wow.

- You look lovely.
- Thank you.

You look radiant,
like you're pregnant. (LAUGHS)

- MAN: What?
- (ALL LAUGH)

No, you do.
You're really... glowing.

Thank you.

My friends are making me
feel like

the effort that I'm making
has definitely been worth it.

The next step...

WOMAN: Oh, my God.

..is that this
goes in the fire.

HUSBAND: Oh, yes.

This has been
a long time coming.

- Yeah, I think it's about
time. - Do it.

- Yeah. Let's do it.
- Do it.

- Yeah?
- Go on.

Well done! (LAUGHS)

I think it's about time.

Oh, it feels good for it to go.

It's gone, and I don't have to
look at it anymore

every time I open my wardrobe.

I don't even know
why she gave it to me.

I don't even know
why I hung onto it.

I am feeling like such a weight
has gone off my shoulder.

It's gone.
It no longer exists in my life.

And I'm really looking forward

to what the future's
going to hold.

Science shows that
our brains love routine.

We love to eat
the same breakfast.

We love to wake up
at the same time.

The same is true when it
comes to getting dressed.

It's called
repetitious wardrobe complex.

It's us referring to
the same pieces of clothing

time and time again.

You have a lot of black
in your wardrobe.

Why do you wear black so much?

You have to look at the
outcome.

Are you feeling
the way you want to feel?

Are you getting the results and
the feedback from the world,

dressed as
that version of yourself?

If the answer is no,
what do you need to do?

You need to change your
clothes.

LATHAM: I'm ready
for new things.

Ready to try some new stuff.

The only nerves I get is about
how I'm going to hold up

when people
start making comments.

You do feel
a little bit exposed -

like, am I going to be able to
weather the storm?

I just want to be able to
be myself.

Latham's fashion fix

is to inject a lot more variety
into his wardrobe.

I want every day
to be an opportunity for him

to express different
creative parts of himself.

For it to be fun to get
dressed!

What is this, a beret?
A floral beret?

She just said go for it.
Like, go for your life.

Get some jewellery.

Do things that
you wouldn't normally do,

and see how you feel.

Here we go.

Oi, that's pretty jazzy.

I love sunnies, eh?

I think sunnies are just
a good way to go.

I reckon you have
a little look-see at these.

Yeah. These ones look sick.

Little a bit of a gold plate.
Bit of reflection on there.

Very fast.

- Mmm.
- Yeah. These are sick.

To me, I feel like
an accessory like a necktie

is also very easy.

But that's a statement.

Let me have
a double granny know.

Each little step I take,

I just build up
a little bit more confidence.

We love our cross-body bags,
don't we?

That is a nice satchel.

- Feeling good?
- I feel really good.

Just dipping my toe
in the water, really.

Yeah. Like a little baby duck
at the pond.

And this is the outfit.

This is
my brand-new cross-body bag.

So, we're going to go in,
going to have a beer,

I'm going to see
how it all goes down.

(WHISTLES)

When you are
dressing the right way,

your face changes.

You feel like you are yourself.

Latham's new clothes

are very different
to his previous wardrobe.

They are creative and
expressive and unexpected and
free.

This is not about
finding the BEST clothes.

This is about
finding the clothes

that express the best parts
of who you are.

Nathan, would you like
to play dress up?

- Absolutely.
- (LAUGHS)

No, I picked this for you.

Alright, let's put it on.

Have a crack.

And we'll put these glasses on.

Yes.

Here we are.

How do you feel
when you look in the mirror?

You know what it is? Funky.

It's springtime.

It's springtime
in Latham's garden.

I love it. OK. Are you ready
to try something else?

Yeah. Let's go.
Let's keep on rolling.

Sun is shining,
birds are chirping.

Loving it.

And we're going to put on

one of my favourite shirts
here for you.

Here we go.

We're stepping into the unknown
with a bit of floral,

especially for me.

What do you think
when you see this, Latham?

I think it's very - boom!

It's like very bang.
It's very out there.

Is there something that
you could do in this shirt

that maybe you wouldn't
have the confidence to do

dressed in an old vintage T?

Doing this sort of thing,

and coming here in...
and wearing a floral shirt,

is, like, a perfect opportunity
for me to just, like,

feel myself out a bit more
and just, like, explore.

It feels good,
like, it's just clothing,

but at the same time,
it's more than that.

Like it's your soul,
essentially.

So, I want to try things.
I want to do new things.

And it's time to
just stop thinking about

what everyone else thinks

and just crack on with it,
crack on with my life.

Each little step I take,

I just build up
a little bit more confidence.

You're already flying,

but I think
you're ready to soar.

I have something that's going
to give you fashion wings.

Nathan,
it's time to get dressed.

Let's do it.

Stepping out of my comfort zone

and just dressing
a little bit feminine,

experience
another part of myself,

and, like,
showing that on the outside

makes me feel heaps good.

That's what I'm hungry for.

And, like,
that's what I'm chasing.

I know that once
I undergo this transformation,

it's just going to be more
bang-on.

KATHRYN: Latham, come on out.

(LAUGHS)

You look so cool.
Oh, have a look in the mirror.

Yeah, I will.

Holy dooley! (LAUGHS)

Like, I actually can't believe
that this is...

Like I walked in here
so different this morning,

and this is
what I'm looking like now.

- Completely new human being.
- Yeah.

You know, when I'm next to you,

I can feel
how transformed you are,

not just
in terms of your fashion,

but just your whole energy.

What parts of your life
have changed

since you started this process?

It just feels good to be
in an environment

where you're
so heavily supported

and you can just sort of
feel the love.

And that sort of just
gives you the permission

to explore yourself a little
bit

and have a great time
doing it as well.

Your outfit just
screams fun to me.

And I wanted to keep the
mullet,

- because that's
your signature hairstyle.
- Yeah.

And then this look,
I wanted you to tap into

your 'staunchly feminist'
philosophy all the way.

We've got the floral, the
flair, the colour,

the socks, baby!

Best socks ever.

This is the quintessential
staunchly feminine.

- So...
- Hang on a second.

I think it's missing one thing.

One sec.

Oh, yeah. Bring it over.

Oh, the man bag.

This is what
started it all, really.

It really did.
It's come full circle.

This is what started
the whole transformation.

I think a stance is in order.

Yeah, it is, actually.

Just a little...

We're officially a garden.
There's no doubting that.

I'm going to leave you
to blossom and bloom.

- Yeah.
- And soak yourself.

Well, thank you so much.

- You look so good.
- Yeah.

Well, look at you,
all dressed in blue.

Love it.

- Look at this.
- I love it.

- That's doing it for you?
- (INDISTINCT)

- Phenomenal.
- Give us a look at this.

- Good old...
- Big old change, eh?

- Oh!
- I'm into it.

- What do you reckon?
- The fingernails?

- Give us a little...
- Yeah, have
a little razzle-dazzle.

One hand each, there you go!

Hey!

- Let's dance!
- (ALL LAUGH)

You're not going to recognise
me at the Clo-y.

- No-one's going to
recognise me anywhere.
- No, they're not.

Oh.
Holy...

Come with me on this journey.

I want more.

Holy dooley.

What do you reckon?
How are you?

You're bright as an orange.

I feel like
a better version of me.

I feel like I'm more like
pimped-out version of myself.

- We're looking schmick.
- Yeah. We're looking schmick.

- Got our new outfits on.
- Let us in the joint.

Time for a longie?
Time for a schooner.

Couple of cuppa.

- Let's get after it.
- Roll out.

Let's get a couple.

Almost feel like
a dog at the park.

Release the leash,

and just launch off
into the distance,

and you're just, like,
bounding with your mates,

and having a great time
chasing ba*ls.

That's how I feel. I feel like
I can do whatever I want.

The clothes
I've chosen for Krystina

are very, very specific.

I wanted to embrace
much more feminine silhouettes.

I wanted to open up
the decolletage and create a V.

Show off her beautiful curves.

Show off her waist.

She is going to
not recognise herself

when she steps into
these clothes.

Now, in your wardrobe,

you have one dress,
and you're wearing it.

So I have got you
an entire new wardrobe.

Oh, my gosh.

This is all for you.

Get in there and have a look.
Tell me what you like.

The first thing I look at
is this.

Oh, my God. It sparkles.

Yeah, wow.
The fabric is beautiful.

I love it.

I love that
you immediately go for that,

which is one of the most
feminine, out-there pieces,

which is just shows how far
you've come on this journey...

Oh, definitely.
Yeah, definitely.

..that you've gone for that.

I like that it says,
"Look at me."

I think that's what actually
drew my eyes to it.

It's out there. It's just
something I would never wear.

And this whole process has been
about challenging myself,

and wearing something like this
in public

definitely challenges myself.

And why not?

Have a look and see what else

catches your attention,
Krystina.

Actually, that's... Yeah.

That's one that
I was just looking at,

again with the green.

So I chose this for you

because you had two dresses
in your wardrobe.

One of them has been
sent to a better place.

- Up in smoke.
- Up in smoke. Exactly.

And so I want to
repopulate your wardrobe

with more of these beautiful,
feminine wrap dresses

to remind you that
you are a swan

and you have always been a
swan.

Yeah.

Thank you.

When I say that to you,
about being a swan,

I see that it hits a nerve.

It's old habits die hard.

That's OK, though.

I'm working through it.

Like, as soon as you said it,
I'm like, ugh, here we go.

I will learn to hold my head
up.

And it's a process.

It's not going to happen
overnight.

You know, it's standing there
in the mirror

and saying, yes, I am
beautiful.

That still sort of..

I'll get there. You know,
the feathers are coming.

That little ugly duckling,
it's not going to hold me back.

I'm going to be
swimming faster pretty soon.

So...

Oh, that's my hero moment.

Come on, I'm going to
give you a hug.

I love that so much. Love that.

Alright, well, let's put that
back on the rack,

because I've got
one more surprise for you.

(SIGHS)

Krystina, you are going
full-speed along the highway

towards who you've always been,

and I couldn't be
more proud of you.

And there's somewhere else
I need you to go

to complete this
transformation.

And it's
behind that green curtain.

Oh?

There's an outfit
waiting for you

that I think
you're going to love.

It's time to get dressed.

I'm starting to actually like
the person I see in the mirror.

I now want to walk into a room
with my head held up

rather than just slink in
and hide in the corner

like I normally do.

I'm a bit worried about
what's going to be

behind those curtains,

but I'm looking forward to
the challenge.

Krystina, it's time for
your reveal.

Beautiful! You look beautiful.

Oh, come and have
a look in the mirror.

Oh, my God. Oh.

I look like a girl.

Oh...

Oh, that's amazing.

I love the dress.

What do you see when you look
in the mirror now?

I look beautiful.

I actually feel like a woman -

not a girl, a woman.

It's what I wanted to see.

Oh, wow. It's beautiful.

It's not just a dress, is it?

No, no, it's me.

It's sparkly. It's bright.

It shows
all the right things off,

hides all the things
I want to hide.

Wow.

You told me that
you had this idea

that maybe you would never
feel like a swan

because your mother
told you that.

This dress is all swan.

Oh, 100%.
The feathers have grown in.

I'm holding my head up
because this is just stunning.

You enjoy
your gorgeous reflection.

And I know there's someone
who's very excited to see it
too.

Oh, he's going to be stunned.

- Yeah.
- (BOTH LAUGH)

I don't know
what I was expecting,

but it just wasn't this.

When I saw myself,
it was a stranger looking back.

And that stranger was gorgeous.

Oh, my confidence is
through the roof at the moment.

It's amazing.

What do you reckon?

Wow!

(WHISPERS) Turn around.

Wow.

Fits you really well.

It does. Yeah.

It's all about the dress.

Great.

- You like?
- Yeah. I do. I love.

- Feel good?
- Yeah, I feel great.

That's what it's all about.

You've always made me feel
good.

I just wanted to look for you.

- Done.
- Done?

I'm almost your height now.
(LAUGHS)

I feel amazing.

Hey! How are we doing?

- Hello!
- How you going?

- Good.
- Good to see you.

- Hello, my love.
- You look great.

Thank you.

Today a little bit of
a special occasion.

It's actually the first time
in 10 years

that I've had all five
of my kids under one roof.

(LAUGHTER)

Are you drinking soap?

Trying to get the stars aligned
when you've got adult children
-

it doesn't work very often.

How are you, Charlotte?

You got a kiss for mimou?

Thank you, darling.

The major comment is,
"Wow, Mum, you look fantastic!"

which is really good.

And it shows,
Mum, you're gorgeous.

And you fought that.

You know what I mean?

Show everyone
how gorgeous you can be.

My partner's commented that

my self confidence
has gone through the roof.

He keeps telling me, "You're
glowing. You look great."

It's good to see, because,
like,

you get dressed up,
you feel good about yourself.

You can see that
you feel good about yourself.

And then when you go out,
you sort of...

Sit up straighter,

walk... walk with a bit of a...
bit of a spring in your step.

Just looking at myself
in a dress,

I feel like the person that
I want to project -

a strong woman.

This is the way I'm going to
see myself for the rest of my
life.

I am beautiful.

KATHRYN: The purpose
of these transformations

isn't to turn people into
a version of themselves

that they don't recognise.

Even though they may never have
looked this way before,

when they look in the mirror,

they will see themselves

and say, "Oh, finally.

"That's me."

WOMAN: I love colour.

I absolutely adore it,
because...

it makes me feel happy.

I want to colour myself
and feel vibrant.

And that's the crazy thing -

I wear so much black.

When I walk down the street,
people see me.

they look at me and they're
like, "Oh, gosh."

Like, I get the worst stares,
because nobody sees ME.

They see what I look like,
what I dress.

It's the worst feeling.

It's almost like
you've got two heads, you know?

People look at you
like you're a freak.

Hi. I'm Kathryn.
What's your name?

My name's Izzy.

Izzy, would you like to
have a reading?

- Sure.
- Come and join me.

Tell me a story.
