Hey! I'm Danielle,

your friendly tree-trimmer and

family spy.

We're outside of the Stovalls' house

waiting for them to leave

so that me and my team can get in there

and make over their house,

'cause they need it.

They got nine kids! Nine!

I'm Adam.

-I'm Jamie.

-I'm Gillian.

-Coleman.

-[all] And we're the Stovalls.

-[Jamie]And we're the Stovall family.

[Jamie] We are high school sweethearts.

We met in ninth grade.

And now we have nine kids.

[Danielle] My accomplice Ginny sent in

a video telling us all about this family.

[Ginny] I wanna nominate the Stovalls

because they are excited

about serving in their community,

and they're excited

about serving in the church,

but yet they live in a house where

things are broken

that they can't afford to fix

because they put so much of what they need

on the back burner for their kids.

[Adam] The house, I believe it

was built in 1952, so it's got some

-Age.

-Some age in its infrastructure.

Um, it's starting to show,

especially with a bustling family

of nine kids running around,

and six of those being boys.

[all laughing]

[Jamie] Nice!

[Adam] As a large family,

you can imagine that we accumulate

a lot of things in our house,

and that does become a challenge,

because there's a certain number of

essential things that every person needs,

and when you've got 11 people,

it just happens to add up.

[Jamie] That's where I store

all the homeschool stuff,

and it needs to be reorganized, but, um

it's another project for another day.

-[Jamie] Oh, my water!

-[Thomas] Look out.

[chuckling] I can't imagine

why we have stains on the carpet.

[Adam] The carpet is destined for failure.

It's very light-colored.

-It's got stains all over from boys, pets.

-[Jamie] Stains galore.

Good boy! Hey!

[Jamie] The biggest challenge

for us in this house is the kitchen.

[Adam] David, how's it going?

We have very little counter space.

The microwave and dishwater does not work.

We would love to have a kitchen

that supports feeding a family of 11.

[Jamie] What? You went first? Big shocker!

[Adam] We talked about building a custom

farm table, if you will, for this room.

Just something long enough for us.

[Jamie] Currently,

we've got two boys in each room upstairs,

and a bonus room downstairs

that the girls are in.

[Adam] We also love to do things outside,

and so it'd be neat to have, like,

a nice space out there

that's more permanent.

Time moves so fast, so I just want

things to be more of a home for everyone.

They give so much of themselves.

They love on so many people

that they just need to be loved on.

-[girl] Where's my backpack?

-Here they come.

-[Anna] Did someone get the soccer ball?

-[Isaac] I'll get it!

Act normal. You do this every day.

Not really, though.

[Anna] Someone does have it, good.

[Danielle] Ginny told the Stovalls

we didn't pick them.

[Danielle] But, really,

she's keeping them busy at her lake house

until seven o'clock tonight,

while we renovate their whole house.

[Anna] Oh, I left my phone!

-[Adam] Your phone's in the house?

-[Anna] It's in my back pocket.

[Erik] Here we go. It's time.

You see how crazy chaotic this is?

'cause we've not had

this much stuff to move out just yet.

We've got a lot of pictures.

A lot of pictures for a lot of kids.

we're talking about 11 people.

I love kids and I think that those kids

are so energetic and full of life.

This is gonna be so exciting

to do this for them.

They do seem like a really tight unit,

which is nice.

I'm just concerned, my house barely

survived with just my brother and myself.

With six boys?

-Yeah. That's a lot of people. A lot.

-[Paige] Yeah.

So, I think, looking at this,

it's becoming pretty clear to me

that this family is drowning

in their stuff,

because right now,

from everything that we've seen,

it's a lot of things.

Removing all of the stuff in the house

is its own entity entirely.

Like, we literally have a job

before the job.

We have to get that done

before we can even move on.

Okay, you and I are gonna need to go over

how we're gonna get that much stuff out.

-'Cause it's a disaster in there. Okay?

-[Paige] Okay.

[Erik] All right, y'all.

Front to back, let's do it.

Nick, front yard. Talk to me.

What I see here is so much potential,

but this is a huge project

because, honestly,

this is some fertile land.

-Like, clearly, very fertile land.

-[Adair laughing] What?

-And it needs more life in the front.

-[Adair] What?

We gotta clean that exterior.

We could paint this house,

but I think it'd be, honestly,

easier to clean it.

Except cleaning it is tricky

because we don't know what

actual material that is until the day-of.

If we power-wash that stone,

clean that up,

add a little more plant life to the front

If you turn left,

we have an outdoor living room

to optimize and give them more space

for that family to hang out.

I think it's gonna

be a beautiful space to look at.

Okay. Coming into the house.

Adair, talk to me.

For the interior, I'm gonna lighten

everything in the house, brighten it up,

all-new furniture,

pull up all the carpeting,

make sure that we maximize storage,

and then also get them some furniture

that's really conducive

to housing a large group of people.

-Right.

-And then we know that they love to cook.

This is not a kitchen for that.

Remember, this was open?

This is now a wall to maximize storage

and to help delineate the kitchen space

from the den area.

I really like that.

They were lacking storage

throughout the entire house,

so any room we knew we can

get more storage in, we've done it.

And, Paige, the kids,

what are we doing in the bedrooms?

It's interesting to go in and out

of the different bedrooms

and really feel like there truly

is no strong identity within them.

Like, there should be some sort of

individuality within each room.

So the special project

is going to be a massive collaboration

between Adair and myself.

We want it to feel like it

really is their bedroom

and add furniture pieces

that incorporates storage,

because right now

there's not a lot of organization.

Figuring out a way

that we can bring that into this home,

I think, is going to be a slam dunk.

This is probably the biggest project

that we've done.

We gotta tear up carpet,

we gotta break down cabinets,

we gotta break down walls,

we gotta build new walls,

and we have to get their stuff out

in a timely, efficient manner.

So there's a lot to plan.

Not a timely, efficient manner.

One day for everything.

We tried a few different things

at the warehouse, things got broken,

just throwing everything we can out.

out and clean as fast as we can.

this power washing test real quick.

We've got two different tips.

We're gonna try a more powerful tip

and a less powerful tip,

because we don't know

exactly what kind of stone this is.

So we got a softer stone

and a harder stone up here as well.

The more powerful tip is gonna give us

a faster clean, so that would be ideal,

but given that it might be a soft stone,

like sandstone or limestone,

we gotta try it out

to make sure we don't actually damage it.

obviously no damage on the softer stones.

But more importantly,

having that softer tip

It's not actually softer,

So you're getting a wider streak

That may actually end up being

in our favor and giving us a faster clean.

I'm just concerned that when we get there,

if this stone is at all softer than this,

we might be cleaning it by hand.

I'm not getting on my hands and knees

and scrubbing this.

No, you'll be on a ladder.

Just a couple minutes

and we've already seen a difference.

So they rented this house at first, right?

Right. So I think

they bought it two years ago,

but they've not been able

to do much with it at all.

I think last time we came over

to have dinner with them,

the dishwasher was broken.

And then you have 11 people eating here

three times a day, you know? So, yeah.

-But they make it work.

a way to give to their community.

So they have, like, a soup kitchen.

Anyone in the community

can come get food from there.

The kids are involved,

Jamie and Adam are involved.

And they do it every week.

We're involved in our church,

and one of the things

that we really enjoyed watching

our church do through the pandemic

is we opened up our food co-op

for food relief.

Weekly, I take the boys up to the church,

and we unload the trailer

from the Atlanta Food Bank,

and distribute to the families

that just need that extra bit of help.

That's something that

they get excited about doing.

And to know that

it benefits a community in need,

it's a blessing for them to get to make

face-to-face contact with these families.

It's just another

life-learning opportunity

that takes our large family passion

with our passion to serve and combines it.

So, tell me,

how are you gonna keep them

away from this house as my accomplice?

our family mission statement.

When we started having a lot of kids,

we were like,

"How do we decide

what to say yes and no to?"

And if it checks those boxes,

then we say yes.

If it doesn't, then we don't.

I made it and I remember just thinking,

"Is it possible to raise a large family

with these values?"

I'm able to look at it now

and say it worked.

I started to cry earlier.

And I'm so excited

to see something that looks durable

and ready for those boys to come

and gather to eat and learn at.

about mine and Gillian's room, uh

the little vanity mirrors on the desk

attached to the really cool beds.

[Adam] I can't even envision the

old house right now as I walk through it.

[Jamie] It feels like a bedroom now.

[Gillian] We can,

like, see the entire room now.

That's definitely a plus.

Because I've been asking

for workout weights,

equipment, a new skateboard.

This is amazing.

He is just giddy about his room.

Super cool to see our kids' interests

honored in that way.

smart way to store those.

This is amazing. I love it so much.

There's so much light in here now.

To do a renovation in a day,

it's mind-blowing that

that was even possible.

There's like a whole army here.

I mean, it's just stunning.

It just looks amazing.

It blew my mind. There's so many things

that we've wanted for our home.

I never imagined anybody coming in

and just wiping the slate clean for us

-and doing them for us.

We don't ever expect anything,

you know, from someone else.

-[voice breaks] It just was overwhelming.

-Yeah.

[Nick] Two hundred people were over here,

it wasn't just us five.

It was, like, a whole army of people

coming over to the house,

but it was good.

I'm just so thankful that 200 people

came and did our whole house in one day.

to be given a little bit back.
