-What is it?

caterpillar.

He's so creepy.

Look at all those adorable legs.

[giggles]

I think I'll call him...

Crawly.

You know,
it's ghoul luck

to have a Transylvanian
caterpillar in your garden.

They eat all the wild weeds
and keep the soil extra spooky.

[Vampirina]
Crawly sure is hungry

for such a little
caterpillar.

Well, he needs to eat
all his ghoulish greens

so he can grow strong enough
to set up his chrysalis.

A chrysalis? What's that?

Sounds shiny,
if you ask me.

A chrysalis
is a protective shell.

When Crawly is full
from eating his greens,

he'll wrap himself inside

so he can start
his transformation.

Wait a mummy minute.

Crawly won't be
a caterpillar forever?

It's all part
of his monster-morphsis.

He can transform
into a beautiful butterfright

at any moment.

You'll know he's ready to hatch

when his chrysalis glows.

Wow.

No wonder Crawly's
so hungry.

He has a big day
ahead of him.

I don't want to miss
his transformation.

Can I take him to school, Mama?
Please?

Sorry, batkins,
but Crawly needs to stay

where his favorite
ghoulish greens are.

It's his natural habitat,
after all.

Like a spider's web,
or a dragon's castle.

[sighs]
Okay.

I hope I don't miss it.

It sounds so magical.

The moment Crawly builds
his chrysalis,

I'll come find you, Vee.

I won't take my eye
off of him.

Consider it a ghost
guarantee.

Except right now, when I'm being
swarmed by tickle bugs.

[laughs]

critter ever.

in the garden.

But I really want to see
your big transformation.

I bet you'll be even cuter
as a tiny butterfright.

Hey, Vee.
Ready to walk to school?

Um... yeah.

Okay, I promise
to look after you at school.

My friends will be so excited
to meet you.

[school bell rings]

I have the most fangtastic
surprise to show you.

Is it spooky? Should I grab
my scare buddy pillow?

I've decided to keep it with me
at all times.

We found a Transylvanian
caterpillar

in our garden
this morning.

I call him Crawly.

-Awesome!

to bring a Transylvanian critter

monster-y happens?

He's so tiny no one will ever
even notice he's here.

And he won't be
a caterpillar for long.

He's going to build
a chrysalis

and transform into a spooky
little butterfright.

a butterfright,

but I'm sure
it's not scary.

Oh, shrieks!

This can't be good!

I think Crawly ate through
my backpack.

I'm sure he hasn't gone far.

How much harm could a tiny
caterpillar do anyway?

A lot. He made a crater
in Edgar's alien drawing.

-Ghost!
-[Mr. Gore] Uh, kiddos?

Everything okay over there?

[Vampirina gasps]

-Screechy peachy!
-We're okay.

[Bridget]
Nothing going on here.

He ate Mr. Gore's tie.

Psst! Vee! Remember how I said I
wouldn't take my eye off Crawly?

Well, I had to.

In the name of fashion.

Crawly's transformation
seemed like the perfect occasion

to wear my new
butterfright wings.

But when I came back,
he was gone.

You're not the only one
who lost sight of him.

-[gasps]
-Crawly was in my backpack,

and instead of putting him
back in the garden,

I brought him to school.

But now he's gone.

-[gasps]
-[Edgar] But not far.

-Look.
-[Vampirina gasps]

Crawly is still hungry?

Even I'm not hungry,
and that's saying something.

We have to find him
before he eats anything else.

Too late.

-[Poppy squeaks]
-[Bridget] Do you think

Crawly's getting b-b-bigger?

Uh-huh.
-[school bell rings]

[Mr. Gore]
Time for lunch.

I'm sure everyone's hungry
as a caterpillar by now.

We'll finish your artwork
when we get back.

We have to find Crawly before
he eats the whole school.

Come on.

Crawly sure is fast.

Must be all his cute
and creepy legs.

[sighs]
My wings are all show.

These don't help at all.

Was Crawly this hungry
when you found him?

[sighs]
Even when he was tiny,

he was hungry and eating through
all the ghoulish...

greens.

That's it.

Mama said that Crawly
needs to eat

all his ghoulish greens
to grow strong.

But since he's away
from his garden,

he's eating all the green things
at school instead.

Like all the green chairs
in the auditorium.

Or the floor.

Or all those delicious cookies

in the cafeteria.

Mm.

Delicious.

[laughs nervously]

Oh, wait. That was me.

[stomach gurgling]

We have to follow the green.
That's how we'll catch him.

-Let's go.
-[excited chatter]

That's a Crawly chomp,
all right.

-There.
-Crawly did that?

How did he make a bite mark
that huge?

I don't think he's a tiny
caterpillar anymore.

I think all the green stuff
he's eating at school

is making him grow bigger
than usual.

-We'd better hurry.
-[Poppy] Whoa!

[gasps]

Crawly?

This is amazing!

We need to get him out of here
before he gets any bigger.

Here, Crawly.

I'm sorry I brought you
to school.

Let's get you back
to your garden.

Oh, no. What's happening?

[excited chatter]

We didn't miss
the chrysalis.

But now Crawly can turn into
a butterfright at any moment.

Oh, I forgot
about that part.

-[whistle blowing]
-Oh, no!

It's the basketball team.

Weekly Weirdness is going
to be a hit, thanks to Crawly.

[grunts and laughs nervously]

Oopsies.

Crawly!

I got him. I got him.

Oh, never mind.

It's a cool new ball.

Oh, this isn't how
I imagined

Crawly's big
transformation.

I should never
have brought him to school

and away from his garden.

It's okay, Vee.
We'll get him back.

We just have to distract
the team.

Uh, is Crawly supposed
to be doing that?

[Vampirina]
Mama said when he glows,

he's going to hatch
any minute.

We can't let
the other kids see.

[whistle blows]

I have an idea, and I'm going
to need everyone's help.

Poppy and Edgar,
you get Crawly from the team.

Once you've got him,
pass him to me.

Then Bridget, you'll toss them
another ball.

But where are you going to get
another bouncy glowing ball?

-Wait, you don't mean...
-It's up to you, Demi.

You can do it.

[sighs]
I'll do my bouncy best.

We got to hurry.
He's glowing brighter.

-Over here.

-Demi, get ready.
-[inhaling sharply]

I'm glad we rescued Crawly,

but now he's gone forever.

I should have never
brought him to school.

Now I'll have to tell Mama
I lost him.

But you saved him.

He'll always remember you
for that.

how spooktacular the B&B is.

We have lots

The Ghoul Girls are practicing

for the Spook and See,

and it's all about
our Scare B&B.

It will be the highlight

how they're doing.
